OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Unit Name: Apex Security Forces. The ASF.
  • Affiliation: Apex Holdings | Apex Industrial | Mr Black
  • Classification: Security Forces
  • Description: Dressed in a tidy black armorweave uniform. They sometimes have a duraplast vest, and often a helmet, beret, balaclava, or visor. They look professional and clean-cut with a clear Apex AX logo visible to show who they are. Usually carrying identification if asked to provide it. Both their appearance and equipment are of a high standard. Mixing non-lethal and lethal weaponry. Security personnel usually carry a primary weapon, a secondary weapon, 1-2 grenades, and a melee backup. In times of civil unrest, or at key positions, you may see them carrying a large riot shield. Employing emergency droids for safe medical evac, they also use non-lethal drones for crowd suppression.
COMBAT INFORMATION:
Strengths:
  • Secure the Area. Security is more than just standing at a post. It's awareness, communication, procedure, self-control, and good surveillance habits among other things.
  • Protect and Serve. Civil protection takes training that an infantryman doesn't usually get. The ASF is trained well in how to deal with crowds, handle or interrogate suspects, remain calm at a crime scene, and how to de-escalate a situation for example.
Weaknesses:
  • On a paycheck. Apex Security are not about to throw their lives away. They are not criminals with dubious loyalty, and they are not zealots or robots who will follow any command without thinking either
  • Long Pitched Battles. While the ASF can and will be drawn into larger engagements, they are not designed to sit in a trench over weeks and months during a war.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

First seen negotiating with corporate suits on Denon, the ASF has come a long way. Apex Holdings is a giant of a corporation with many competing interests wrestling for control of it. The individual parts of Apex have been around for a very long time, and over that time of struggle, great concern has been taken to formally establish a protective security presence for all concerned.

While the ASF Security forces are orientated toward Apex Industrial, the politics of the holding organization means they can often be used by other smaller subsidiary companies within Apex Holdings as Mr Black facilitates. Formal ties between these companies has always and will always be that of rivals rather than friendship or mutual cooperation. Things are never that simple within the ever-growing Apex Holdings group. Though these companies can work together, they can also resort to less-than-fair means of competition. Enter Apex Security.

The sheer volume of Apex or Apex adjacent assets grows by the year. So there are enough security personnel to facilitate assisting partners with their own projects. You will often find the rank and file of Apex Security around these facilities or on these joint operations.

Each member of Apex Security is trained in a peacekeeping role as well as more active security procedures. They have a 50-step training mandate to complete, dealing with mental, social, and physical tasks. This in-depth training means not everyone gets hired. While you won't find the galaxy's next hero within their ranks, you won't find sloppy work either. If there is one thing that Mr Black instills in his subordinates its professionalism, and the security forces embody that most of all.
