A Padawan Potluck [Padawan Clans]

[SIZE=11pt]Main Hall [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]Celeste Rigel took a step back and breathed a content sigh. The Hall looked quite nice if she said so. There were many festive items on display: pumpkins, fall-colored leaves, apples, cakes… and candy, too., Celeste had learned that food was a way to bring people together. On that note, she’d asked everyone to bring a dish of their own to the party. She hoped that people would make something of their own recipe, but she wouldn’t turn down anything store-bought. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]It had been far too long since the Padawan Clans had a proper get-together. Today, she hoped that existing members would be present to sport their new [/SIZE][SIZE=11pt]robes,[/SIZE][SIZE=11pt] and new members could get acquainted with everyone. The Clans were such a nice way to learn and grow, with helpful members — friends — that were there every step of the journey. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]The healer brushed down the front of her own robes, black just like those of the padawans — with a bright purple Begruufta badge emblazoned on the front. She also had a small silver pin that signified her rank as a Master, something that others could have, too, once that rank was attained. [/SIZE]

[SIZE=11pt]She had some official business to take care of today, but she would wait until the others had assembled before getting down to that. For now, she stood at the end of the long table to welcome her guests. [/SIZE]

Reggie came to the main hall with a pot covered with a top. When asked to bring a dish, the Padawan was originally worried since his cooking skills weren't great. However, he decided to bring one of gis favorite foods: corn on a cob! It wasn't a difficult dish to make after all. It wasn't everyday the clans got together, so the Padawan wasn't going to miss it. He looked forward to seeing both old and new friends alike.

The first person he saw was [member="Celeste Rigel"], so he went to greet her before anything else.

"Greetings Master Rigel. It seems like we keep meeting at gathering such as this one. Though I've grown a bit taller since last time and you have grown more beautiful. It's good to see you Master."

He bowed as much as one could with a pot in their arms, still showing respect to the Jedi Master. The Padawan hadn't seen the Master for a long time now, so he was happy to see her again. As always, he was as friendly as usual, though maybe a bit more charismatic and less non-stop chatty.

Reggie wore his new Padawan robes, which isn't what he'd usually wear to such an event. With the clans getting together though he found it necessary, especially since new ones had come in.

Cooking was not exactly an activity young padawans got to do, not with all the classes they had to attend and homework. Besides there was always the mess to cater for all your needs, and cooking was not something Thora had aspired to learn. But having fun was always on the agenda and she looked forward to today's event. She had organised the chef in the mess hall to help her out with a desert which came from her homeplanet of Midvinter. A princess cake. It was her favourite above all of them! She had not cooked it, but she did help the chef when he let her.

When she walked into the main hall her mouth fell open and her eyes took in all the sight of the place, it looked incredible. Thora had never seen decorations like this before, not in this way at least. The theme of the celebration a little foreign to her, she did not understand the history behind it, but that did not matter as it was all in good fun. Beside the clans would be here and she wanted to meet up with some of her friends and eat until they were sick.

She placed the cake down on Clan Squall's table before walking to the front of the hall to greet Master [member="Celeste Rigel"] with a bow. An older padawan was there first talking to the master and Thora grinned at his cheeky words, telling the master she was pretty.

"Hello Master Rigel", she beamed a smile, "The hall looks .. amazing", her words filled with excitement.

Initially, Nida had worn her white and gray healer robes to the event. Upon realizing that everyone else was wearing the new, standard issue Padawan robes, she panicked and rushed back to her room to change.

Now she’d returned in her new robes, hair askew and pink cheeks reddened with haste. With quick steps, the Padawan set down a plate of pastries onto the banquet table before adjusting the badge on her uniform that designated her as a part of the Begruufta clan. She was at a loss for what to bring, but ultimately settled on a popular Zeltron dessert, which was particularly rich. Most Zeltroni foods were, given their enhanced metabolism.

Nida shuffled in place for a few moments as she gazed out into the crowd, spying a familiar face among the sea of black cloaks. Master [member="Celeste Rigel"] was a renowned healer, but she was already in conversation with [member="Reggie Faayare"], another Padawan she recognized from afar. For now, Nida would do a lap around the banquet table—she had to know all of her options first, of course!

From the corner of her eye she spied [member="Thora Heavenshield"], Thirdas' niece and explorer extraordinaire. She hadn't seen the girl since Thrand's wedding and smiled to herself upon realizing how much taller she'd grown. Valkyri blood ran strong.

☤ Golden Heart, Cold Hands ☤
What was a pre-prepared, healthy lunch compared to the autumnal treats she knew were gathered in the Main Hall by now?

Nothing special, that's what.

Though she had closed the break room's refrigerator door upon remembering what day today was and made good time walking all the way here, Prennis hesitated by the grand entrance. Her white nursing coat couldn't have been further from the clan robes of the arriving guests, whose way she shuffled out off with shaky apologies. She was looking slightly festive at least with her fall-themed badge reel.

Finally, she steeled herself to step inside. A glance at the chronometer on her datapad was enough propulsion as she realized she would waste not only her break but her lunch if she didn't. It wasn't like the nurse to be shy, but she found herself looking down, away from anyone's gaze, as she beelined to the food spread nearest her. Substitute lunch.

As she browsed the dishes, she was already planning her escape. Grab something and go, Prenn.

It was frankly embarrassing. Prennis was rarely self-conscious at this stage of her life, excepting her most closely guarded secret - which reminded her to ask Celeste if they could have that talk they spoke about on Hapas. Or did it? In any case, the Jedi on Kashyyyk both comforted her and made her question her worth. What place would traditional medicine have in the Order's future when it had so many talented Force healers? For all of her hindsightful critiques of her first Order - the First Order - she had to admit she had never felt so much helpless competition...

In a napkin, opened over her palm, Prennis began arranging a mandarin orange pumpkin, a ghost banana slice, a sweet potato hors d'oeuvre, and a small jar of applesauce with pine nuts.

She moves like she don't care
The new robes looked suspiciously inspired by one of the wizard movies made by Holowood, but somehow no one seemed to mind. Mariya was too busy with the food anyway to care. The padawans had been told to bring a dish or two, so Mariya had brought a food delivery truck. The transport vehicle somehow made its way into the Jedi temple and unloaded the goods to the kitchen. The blonde was there, making sure that her staff were managing the goodies as they filled up the tables with loads of food.

By the time she was done, the table had tripled in size, courtesy of her own food company. There were wines and lagers for people who were old enough to drink, plates of sushi on display, thick cuts of steaks, a tower of burgers and bowls of noodles.

"There. All good to go."

She beamed and grabbed a bottle of wine from the table, pouring herself a glass. She deserved a drink after all the hard work. Now hopefully the padawans were hungry enough to finish them all. She noticed a few familiar people, like the very good doctor who had treated her fractured arm a long time ago and now went by the name of [member="Prennis Keeoli"]. [member="Nida Perl"] whom she had met in one of the Jedi medical outposts was somewhere as well, the purple complexion too hard to miss.

Celeste offered [member="Reggie Faayare"] a smile as he entered with a covered pot. She was curious what was inside, but she was caught a little off guard—in a good way—by his comment. “How kind,” She said, her smile grew. “It's very good to see you, Padawan Faayare! Thanks for coming.”

It was good to see the young man; he had been a friendly presence during past missions, and he was a fellow Begruufta.

Next, she turned to greet [member="Thora Heavenshield"]. “Very glad you could make it, Thora,” the healer said with a nod. “My, that cake is lovely!” Celeste marveled at the delicate confection. “Oh, please say hello to your Auntie Val for me.” she added with a small wink.

The healer breathed a content sigh as she watched the flow of more members - [member="Nida Perl"], one of her fellow healers of the Silver Circle. The young woman was quite a valuable addition to their team. And [member="Mariya Fleischer"] had kindly provided them with quite a spread of food and drinks, which was always greatly appreciated.

Celeste spotted [member="Prennis Keeoli"], too. She hoped that the Nurse Practitioner would stick around; she was quite welcome. In fact, she remembered their brief conversation on Hapes and made a mental note to invite Prennis to her office later to talk.

Alva paused outside the main hall, unsure. Her mother had sent her to Kashyyyk for the gathering and had told her it might be a good idea to join one of the padawan clans. And so, Alva had journeyed from Midvinter to Kashyyyk just for the occasion—she'd heard that cousin [member="Thora Heavenshield"] would be there, too. But, when it came down to the clans... Alva felt conflicted.

She had spent most of the trip reading about the clans and the different attributes described. Though she knew that her mother had been in Begruufta, she didn't feel that it fit. Alva wasn't like a fierce dragon or a strong bear, she wasn't particularly quick minded; she was not much of a scholar. Moving through the shadows like a Katarn? Nah, that wasn't it, either.

Holding an apple pie in hand, she stepped into the room, hoping to squeeze past Celeste Rigel. Alva moved swiftly towards the food, set down her pie, and took up a plate. Idly, she studied the different dishes and started to set things onto her plate – her mind still elsewhere.

"I'm glad to be here, thank you for arranging this get together."

With that, Reggie turned his head to the young lady who had also came to say hello to the master, gave a friendly nod in greeting, and turned to start walking towards the table with the food. As he left, he overheard the name of the young lady, which seemed to be Thora. Reggie would remember the name in case they were to talk later on.

The Padawan placed the pot he had on a table, removed the lid and reached into a small pouch he had brought with him. He pulled out tongs that were wrapped in a cloth. After removing the cloth, he set the tongs down on the table so that anyone could take some corn if they so wished.

Reggie looked around the room afterwards, noting the others who had entered the room. It seemed as though he'd be meeting some new people after all, which was always exciting.

SILVER REST
It had been a while since Rick had last taken a break.
About a month ago, there had been a large swing in stocks, putting them largely against his company. Since then, he had temporarily halted his Jedi duties and taken himself and his flagship to the corporate homeworld, where he had holed up in Rim Center up until yesterday. During that time, he and his executives had worked nearly sixteen hours a day, attempting to keep the loyalty of major clients, and keep its branches scattered across the galaxy open whenever possible. Their extremely hard work had paid off - While the company's stock was still below average, their long-term stability was secured by well-planned financial and social buffers. With the company no longer needing constant babysitting, Rick had decided to return to the Silver Jedi, where his loyalties still lay.

Compared to the office sprawls of Rim Center, the dining hall was so casual that for a moment, a memory of his childhood flashed back to him. In the schools in Mon Calamari, there had been halls so similar to these ones, where children would chat without any worries except for when the next sleepover would happen. A powerful pang of grief and guilt struck Rick as he realized that there might never again be carefree schools on Mon Calamari. Nightmares of the Sith invasion still occasionally kept him up at night, waking him up with the taste of heavy smoke on his tongue. Part of him felt terrible being at a Jedi party, when he should instead be thinking of a way to liberate his homeworld.

Rick pulled himself out of his thoughts and began to search for a familiar face. He wore a plain white suit, at odds with the robes worn by many of the Jedi in the room. Most of the Jedi were younger than him, likely Padawans or even Younglings, with some older members scattered about. As he searched for a cup of cider he had previously seen on a table, he suddenly noticed a young man opening up a pot of what seemed to be corn. The male seemed to be in his mid or late teens, and was definitely enjoying the party. He was rather attractive, though Rick would respect him and not push unless he wanted it. Instead, Rick gave a more formal introduction.

"Hello there. What's your name?" asked Rick as he took a nearby pair of tongs and pulled out a cob.

We're more ghosts than people.
Red sighed.

It was a party. He usually wasn't good at those. In fact, most of the parties Red went to ended with him having to fight a couple people, beat them up, and maybe hold them at gunpoint. Of course, none of the people here seemed harmful, but Red could never be too sure.

Red was wearing the Padawan robes he was given when he joined the Squall clan. Since he was new, he was encouraged to come to the party.

Since Red didn't have anything better to do, he decided to go. He looked around. Most of the party goers were younger than him, but there were some that were older. He saw [member="Celeste Rigel"] , who let him into the Squall clan. He also noticed some others he didn't know, like [member="Mariya Fleischer"] , @Preenis Keeoli , [member="Nida Perl"] , [member="Reggie Faayare"] , [member="Alva Heavenshield"], [member="Rick Kaloo"], and [member="Thora Heavenshield"] .

Red leaned against the wall, watching and examining and surveying the party. This was a habit of his. He preferred to have a wall behind his back so that everything of danger would be in front of him, and he always studied his surroundings, making sure there were no dangers. He has always been like that, always ready for battle. Maybe he could finally learn to relax at this party.

Hearing someone greet him, Reggie turned to see Knight Kaloo getting corn from the pot. At least he thought it was Knight Kaloo. The Padawan had attended a class he had taught a few years ago, though that was the only time they had met.

"Hello there. I'm Reggie Faayare. If I'm not mistaken, you're Knight Kaloo, correct?"

Ura slowly walked into the potluck, more nervous then usual and not able to hid it. It practically glowed off the Lervon like a distress beacon. Why? Well, for starters there was the robe. Ura felt like she was supposed to wear it, but it also didn't follow Lervonian thinking. Wearing clothing for her species was sort of a taboo, not just for possible hindering them from shifting their bodies either. It was more so that it made them look like they were hiding something. She had thought of just saying she didn't get it, but Ura was as bad at lying as she was at hiding her emotions.

The next part was the food. To put it bluntly, her kind didn't eat. She was silicon-based, and despite being at the temple for some time now, she still didn't really understand what carbon-based being liked. She couldn't really taste what she brought, so grabbed what she thought was a safe bet. A bag of bread. Well, the person at the store called them rolls, but it was just smaller bread. She quickly put the bread on the table that had her... clan's name on it, and came to her third issue.

Anyone that already knew her knew Ura had trouble talking to non-Lervon, and she didn't recognize anyone here yet. In fact, some people had already started talking, and she really didn't know how to join in. She honestly half-hoped the robe may make her stand out less, even if it was making her nervous.

Red yawned. So far, he had deemed no one at this party to have a great chance of danger, although some had higher ones than others, none of them met his criteria of "harmful". So far, nothing had happened yet. Red hadn't met anyone, and he mainly kept to himself. He was trying, yes, but he seemed to push people away with his "intensity" and his "calculating red eyes". Of course, it could have something to do with his eye color, which was red, or his hair color, which was also red. It usually freaked people out. Red had gotten used to it. Back in the labs, all of the experiments had crazy colored hair, so it was normal. But here, not a lot of people had weird hair.

Red deemed that he was slightly peckish, so he walked over to the buffet table. He looked over the food items. Meh. Not really any great choices. None of them seemed very good. Red continued to scan the table for the most appealing food item. While he did this, he was also unconsciously aware of everyone and everything around. No, not through the Force, but through his own skills of observation, though the Force might lightly assist in that skill.

Reggie.
The name sounded vaguely familiar - then Rick remembered. Reggie had been a student in one of Rick's first waterbending classes, when Rick himself was still new to his talents.

"Yes, that's me." replied Rick, walking slightly to the left to pick up a plate to put his corn on. Then, he returned the tongs. "I remember you being in one of my classes a few years ago. Nice to see you!"

"So, I've been on company business for about a month." continued Rick. "How's the Order been?"

Milla entered the main hall, eyes wide in awe at the sight of the decorations and food laid out on the tables. A celebration such as this was a new experience in her book. Everywhere she looked there was something new, or a familiar face, even some new ones from padawans she didn't know. Her bare feet carried her almost aimlessly further into the hall. That was until she almost bumped straight into Master [member="Celeste Rigel"] and [member="Thora Heavenshield"].

"Oh! Sorry." She gave Master Rigel a sheepish grin, showing off her sharp canines which made her look more mischievous than anything. "Hi Master Rigel. The hall looks awesome!" The last time Milla was this close to Celeste was when she had skipped a few of her classes to keep practicing her lightsaber skills.

Milla held up the large plate of cupcakes and cookies. Each one was shaped like a insignia of the order or a lightsaber. Cooking was something she wasn't good at, but luckily several of the chiefs at the academy were willing to help her. So all in all, they turned out pretty well. "I'm not sure where to put these, cause I'm not in a clan."

As Reggie thought, this was Knight Kaloo. Learning how to use the force for something like waterbending was something the Padawan was glad to have learned and he was grateful.

"It's nice to see you again as well!"

The question that was posed to Reggie made him think for a bit. A lot has happened in the order, but there are always things going on.

"The order has been well. Had a few things going on this past month but there is always something going on in the order, whether it be busy work or gathering such as this."

Reggie spoke in a way as to not give the Knight the impression that the order was having problems, because there weren't any at the moment. Of course, there have been missions and tasks to do, but that wasn't anything new. Nothing galaxy changing had occurred for the time being.

"Welcome back to the Silver Rest though! Are you glad to back?"

"Yes, I am definitely glad to be back." replied Rick.
"My company's been in turmoil for the past month, so this is the first break I've had since." explained Rick. "But everything's back in order now. Thanks for the corn! And nice seeing you!"

Then Rick departed, giving Reggie one last glance before moving on from his elegant form and searching for another friendly face, taking a bite into his corn as he did so.

Red looked over the food at the banquet table. He shaked his head at the options.

"Garbage. Poison. Overcooked. That's food? I don't even know what that is. And that will give you nausea and diarrhea for a couple of hours." Red muttered to himself.

Right after Red said that, one of the Padawan's, eating one of the food items Red criticized, clutched their stomach and hurried off for the bathroom. Red smiled to himself. Maybe he wouldn't tell anyone about that food item, it would be fun to see how many people ate it and got whatever side effects came with it. Of course, he should probably also try to socialize, but where was the fun in that?

"No problem, it was nice seeging you as well!"

Reggie was glad to have seen the Knight doing well since it had been so long. Now the Padawan's gaze was fixed on
[member="Ura Iolar"], a fellow Padawan the he had trained with recently. He walked towards her to greet the fellow Padawan.

"Ura!"

Reggie called out to her while also trying not to startle them. He then pointed a finger at his head, asking if he could speak to the Padawan through force telepathy. They were training in how to use the ability properly when they had met, so Reggie thought it was a good idea. He also knew that it would be easier for Ura to communicate with emotion through force telepathy. It would be rude to use the ability without asking in a social event such as this, so asking first was important.
