A former military vessel, the Dawn Chaser has become a shadowport of sorts and way station for various explorers and smugglers. The overwhelming majority of the starship has been gutted from military use and converted into exploration support uses including biology and geotech laboratories. This reduces the compliment of soldiers from the estimated Imperial calculations of 1600 stormtroopers to approximately 250 Underground operatives and Levant Rangers.
At any one time the vessel may be carrying 250 of such soldiers as well as up to two dozen Force sensitives.
The former area which held AT Walkers and their landers has been converted to serve as a mobile salvage support system, able to offload salvage material for reprocessing. Half of the area previously reserved for AT walkers and their equipment has been deemed exclusively for Starchaser Enterprises as a mobile repair yard for ships, and the ShortFin Experimental Shuttle is a near constant in this location.
With the downsizing of the weapons, the Dawn Chaser plays host to a half dozen force cylinders for docking additional freighters and shuttles. The energy from the ship’s Solar Ionization Reactor that is left over after losing the weapons compliment has been re-routed to supply power for the Merrill Lighthouse which provides the ship with the blessing/curse of being a hyperspace beacon for 500 Light Years.
The ship has become a known target for those of anti-Jedi sentiments and as a result does not remain in any one location for too long, preferring to keep moving and/or remaining cloaked.
