DESCRIPTION
With the imperial downfall, not only a central government was gone but also the possibilities for most remnants to field Star Destroyers as their mainstay of naval power projection. Hence why several shipyards shifted to potent and specialized escorts and cruisers for defined purposes and roles in the new dynamic of another warlord and remnant era.
The Virilus-class Heavy Frigate is such a specialised vessel. For a frigate it operates on the larger spectrum while fielding an incredible array of weapons which can easily take apart other escort ships and even small capital ships. It sacrifices defenses for the sake of upgrading its offensive armament to that of a much larger ship, making it extremely vulnerable to opposing capital ships and not suited to go head to head with sturdy heavy cruisers or light Star Destroyers. But it is not meant to, it is meant to outrun them. To hit hard, take apart escorts, convoys and transports and retreat before the big guns appear.
Internally it is designed to allow maximum storage for the ship to operate independently for as long as possible but gives up crew comfort for that, making it liveable for a long time but not liveable in any comfort.
