STRENGTHS
  • Large Hangar Capacity | Compared to most vessels of it's size, the Vanguard-Class Star Galleon possess a large amount of Hangar Space which in turn is largely utilized for support craft for the deployment of soldiers on the surface
  • Defenses & Durability | The Vanguard-Class Star Galleon is equipped with a sophisticated Point-Defense System as well as a Three-Layer Shielding System, Shield Force Multipliers and Strong Armor allowing it to withstand attacks from larger ships for extended periods of time despite her small size and lack of considerable offensive weaponry
  • Heavy Ground Assault Compliment | Designed as an Armed Transport, the Vanguard-Class's Hangars are capable of transporting large amount of Troops and Military Equipment and Vehicles, which is useful for Planetary Invasion's and quick incursions into enemy space
WEAKNESSES
  • Lack of Mobility | The Vanguard-Class Star Galleon like most of the ships within the Final Dawn's Arsenal has lower-than-average speed and manuverability for a ship of her size.
  • Ship-to-Ship Combat | With a primary focus on Hangar Space and Strong Defenses, the Vanguard-Class is not an offensive ship and is unsuited for ship-to-ship combat which it is most likely to lose regardless of it's defenses and durability due to a significant lack of any strong and heavy offensive weaponry
  • Reliance on Support Ships | Because it is largely suited to transport support craft for planetary invasion's/incursions, the Vanguard-Class partially relies on Support Ships to further counter enemy warships and starfighters to provide extra protection considering the importance of such a ship in planetary invaisons.
DESCRIPTION
After sending Kenth Berik to the far reaches of the Outer Rim in order to capture a legendary warship known as the Atollon Vagabond, High Regent Marlon Sularen sought to create a new Battlegroup for his loyal subordinate as a reward for his service, modeled after the very Naval Battlegroup Berik had first developed upon forming his Adjudicators Mercenary Company, Flottengruppe Alfa. This Original Battlegroup was small, mobile and flexible featuring a healthy mixture of Corvettes and Frigates which could serve as both offensive combat and recon vessels as well to provide troops and logistics. Thus when Sularen began works on a new Battlegroup to emulate Berik's original one, he began works on a new type of vessel that could fill the role of a Logsitics and Troop Transport Ship. Thus the Vanguard-Class Star Galleon was born, an Armored Transport capable of filling that very role.

The Vanguard-Class Star Galleon was developed with a heavy focus on Hangar Space and Defenses which remain the two main strongpoints of the Vessel, allowing the Vanguard-Class to field large amount of troops, military vehicles and equipment during planetary invasion's as well as giving the vessel the ability to withstand attacks from larger warships for extended periods of time, granting the vessel increased survivability rates and ensuring that the manpower and materials transported within the Star Galleon are safely transported to their destinations without any major risks. As such, the Vanguard is not suited for Offensive Ship-to-Ship Weapons considering most of it's armaments are focused on defense rather then offense while it is quite a sluggish vessel lacking any considerable speed and maneuverability, a trait shared with most Warships of the Final Dawn. In addition, due to the important role these ships play in Planetary Invasion/Incursions they will often require an escort as they will most likely become a major target from enemy ships and fall under constant attack.

Nevertheless, the Vanguard-Class Star Galleon still has alot of potential for the Final Dawn, as it shifts towards a more versatile and flexible navy in the aftermath of the Battle of Tython as shown with the development of other ships such as the Hux-Class Interdictor, the Quasar Fire-Class Light Carrier and the Judgement-Class Light Cruiser. Now attached to various Fleets such as Kenth Berik's Battlegroup Aurek, the Vanguard-Class Star Galleon is ready to be tested on the battlefield as time will tell whether it will achieve it's full potential or not...
