Private This The Right Place?

This had to be a bad idea.

Kahlil stared up at the large castle before him. There was a mix of worry and astonishment on his face as he stopped just before it. He was a rebel. At the Empress's palace. Sure, she invited him to stop by, but was that actually serious? If she wanted him dead though, she'd of had him shot down. Or assassinated. Or.. Literally anything before he made it here. Yeah. He just needed to relax. He was just here to talk with Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim . See if there was some way to help her. Or was that too selfish? She was drowning with everything that was going on. Anyone would be. Or at least, that's what he thought.

Maybe he was wrong. It'd be easier to figure out when they were jumping back and forth through the nether or playing nice at a Sithmas party.

Finally he stepped into the place. Sure enough the doors opened, just as she said they would. It was kind of spooky. He did his best to avoid cameras and such, so the fact this place actually recognized him made it pretty obvious he wasn't in hiding anymore. He looked around, silver eyes just watching for anyone to come greet him. When he was still with his family, there were many servants in the Zambrano household. Already it was all coming back.

This would be quite the learning experience, at least.

By the time Kahlil reached the palace, he had to go through several military checkpoints. However, these were not Eternal Imperial soldiers, but corporate soldiers. As Ingrid promised, they really let him in. He was also escorted by a soldier after the first point, so he didn’t have to go alone. After arriving at the palace, they reached a hall of enormous dimensions. On the one hand, it was very long and very tall. Surprisingly, however, they wanted nothing to compensate for this; rare case.

There were also countless soldiers and personnel inside, apparently everyone was busy. What was striking was that the crew members all looked human, but they were droids, and countless sithspawn were visible. The soldier continued to lead the nervous Kahlil to a part of the building that seemed to serve work rather than housing. Ingrid knew the man was coming, they told her when he arrived at the edge of the estate. That's why she had time, so she gave the order to accompany Mr. Zambrano to her office.

They soon arrived here. There were two Infinite Droids in front of the door, and the soldier had just come so far. The door opened and a spacious, sunny office greeted him inside. This place fell on the part of the palace from which the city could be seen. The office was large and spacious, but there wasn’t much of it in it. Some weird and unique looking sculpturality, a huge table and some chairs. There was also a large holoscreen in the room. When Kahlil arrived, Ingrid looked up from her chair and stood up.

As the man walked closer, the woman held out her hand. She was, as before, in a simple military uniform without insignia, her gaze and hold stiff and cold, showed no weakness for a moment; only her determination and strong radiance was seen and felt. As always.

"Mr. Kahlil, welcome! Please take a seat. Would you like a drink or food? What is the purpose of your visit this time?" asked in her usual cold voice.

The spacer let out a low whistle as he stepped into the office. Back home there wasn't anything like this. Or was there? Kahlil wasn't allowed to go to a lot of the rooms there. Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim certainly had money, if it wasn't already obvious by her being Empress. He took her hand, giving her a shake. If he was younger, he'd of probably been way more proper.

But he'd finally broken that training.

"Truthfully? Wanted to see how you were doing and how this kind of place looked. So far, way more.. Fancy? Fancy, yeah. Way more fancy than I expected." He'd take a seat before shaking his head. "No, thanks. I'm alright on the food n drink front."

Would the man have worried about him? It would have been a really interesting sight if it had happened that way. Actually, all of this surprised her a bit; since they didn't even know each other very well, they've talked to each other maybe twice so far. For the part, she didn't think the man was a Jedi, and she didn't, because she didn't believe in this nonsense that the two sides couldn't talk to each other in a civilized way. Ingrid didn't care who was on which side about the Force.

"I'm fine, no need to worry, really."

Perhaps the biggest lie in life. She wasn't well, but she didn't even admit it to herself. She was already accustomed to the never-ending emptiness and pain that nearly consumes her. She was actually in exactly the same condition as on the Dantooine, only better able to hide from others and get used to it. But returning to the conversation.

"Thank you, but really the merit is Lord Ragal's. He designed the whole building. Sometimes he asked Lord Vandiir and my opinion in one or two places if there was a place we wanted for ourselves and the like. But yes, he did a great job with our new home."

If Ingrid had not been ruler; this palace would probably have been built even then, Tubrok really wanted to build their own home.

"How are you? Did you come up with anything about the Rebels to end the fighting? Although we haven’t heard anything about them for a long time. How are the negotiations with them going?"

lqTDRqo.png

nBtOGGm.gif

He didn't need some big trick to know she was lying. No one would be okay, in her position. Maybe his father. But his father couldn't feel love. Thinking about that, it was possible Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim couldn't either, but even with her cold demeanor her path to peace was something he could respect. "The Lord Ragal certainly has good taste."

Kahlil leaned back in his seat, getting a bit more comfortable. Best to enjoy that while he could, especially with her next question. "I have not been nearly active enough with the rebels to tell you anything. My attention has shifted to the Bryn and what's happening to the worlds there. It's been.." A slaughter. He trailed off, not entirely wanting to speak about it. He'd seen a lot of death in his life, and it never sat well with him to be unable to stop it. It felt pointless.

But he wasn't here for himself.

"Lord Vandiir had always been the sort of person anyone would want to talk to. When I was Sith I hoped to pick his brain for some of my own alchemical processes." It was idle musing, but it had purpose. His eyes watched her closely, studying for anything that might give away how she felt about talking about her deceased husband. "You do know that pretending to be alright is the largest weakness anyone can have, right? What will happen if you're faced with someone who will use him against you?"

Ingrid had feelings, very much; she just showed them to very few. If she was in love with someone, she was an incredibly passionate lover. It’s exactly the opposite of what others could usually see on her. Tubrok and Adrian also preferred the other half, the fire; but now all that was left was ice. She inherited her cold, aloof character from her father and the other from her mother.

"Yes, he is always famous for his great taste."

She usually included herself in this, but now she wasn't so sure it was. Ingrid just didn’t feel like flirting or seducing anyone. Not even out of play; and she basically loved to play with it. This is how she got both her husbands and they were both Casanova or Solo type, with just one night of adventures, no serious or any relationships, and then she showed up. Sure, Adrian and Tubrok kept lovers next to Ingrid, they were in an open relationship after all, but both men loved her and always came back to her. She didn't want to fall in love with Adrian either, a killed and lost lover was enough, although she was still a teenager at the time, it wasn't that painful, just for a few days or weeks. Maybe she didn't have love, just what she feels about her two husbands…

"Yes, that’s exactly why I tried to persuade Irveric Tavlar Irveric Tavlar to end the war. As with Tiss’sharl, the GA and NIO pair should focus on Bryn’adûl against the Sith instead of killing civilians and reinforcing the real enemy. If they defeat the TSE, there will be no one to stop Bryn’adûl and get to the core worlds, or even further…"

May have cared about her own thoughts, but she listened to what Kahlil was saying, completely.

"Bryn’adûl had even attacked us before, that is, not us, then the Firrere did not belong to the Empire. But it’s worrying that they got here even though we’re on the other side of the Galaxy. But no one cares about the actual threat."

In the end, Kahlil started talking about Adrian; fortunately she was now able to fully control her emotions, at least if that was the subject. If someone insulted Adrian, or the relationship between the two of them, she couldn’t stand it. As it happened at the Bastion. Ingrid looked into the man's eyes without emotion, and in the end she spoke.

"Lord Vandiir is a remarkable man. He would have helped if you had asked. He loves all this and is happy to help, educate those who are interested in all this."

As always, the Empress used the present time, not the past; as if the Sith Lord was still alive. Ingrid did not accept his death.

"I'll kill them. As I did at Bastion with Runi Verin Runi Verin ." said it with a cold tone, while her blue eyes flashed cold.

Yeah, that summed it all up pretty quickly. The fact that Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim continued to speak about her husband in the present tense was enough of a sign. Mix that with the Nether and what he saw there, everything was making sense. Her efforts against the Bryn were something he could appreciate, but he wasn't here to talk about that, or beat around the bush.

"You found him in the Nether, didn't you?" He leaned forward now in his seat, hands steepled together. The weight she was trying to burden, it was easy if she could still see him. It was almost tempting to ask for her help so he might find the people he lost. But he knew how steep of a cliff that'd be. The dead needed to be let go, before the living joined them. "How often do you go to see him?"

However, this issue was very painful; maybe it hurt more than anything. Luckily, she managed to control every muscle so she wouldn’t twitch her face or start crying. She had to record this as a huge success, now that she had endured it all. But as she looked up, there was fatigue and anguish in her eyes instead of coldness.

"Yes and no."

She didn’t really know how to say this, didn’t tell many people, or they were aware of it. Ty Sibo Ty Sibo knew, but she didn't tell him but the man himself realized this. Ingrid told Telis Taharin-Zambrano Telis Taharin-Zambrano when they were reconciled and Runi before she killed her. To make the woman aware of what she did. Though it wasn’t literally her, it was her stab that made the event happen. The red-haired woman took the necklace from her neck, which she also pulled out, the stone inside glowing in a bluish light, then she took the Soulsabers from her belt and set it on the table next to the amulet.

"He's still here, in these." Her voice was hoarse. "When Verin stabbed him, he was just performing a spell… his soul was torn to countless pieces…"

He didn’t want to die; Adrian wanted to live… he just didn’t want to die. Ingrid’s voice trailed off, it was very, very painful to talk about.

"If I’m in the Netherworld, I feel him. Everywhere, all of his soulshards, exactly where they are. It was as if the Force-bond between the two of us existed again there. I got the one in the swords from one of the prospective Overseer, the soulshard in the necklace was given by Adrian when I died on Byss. I tore my soul apart and left some of it with him. We can’t communicate with each other, they react… the pieces feel when I’m around, but that’s it. I…"

Her voice trailed off again and a few tears rolled down her face, which eventually turned into black smoke.

"I haven’t yet found a way to merge his soul to truly get him back… Him and not just a copy…"

lqTDRqo.png

nBtOGGm.gif

Kahlil listened in silence. He knew what he was bringing up, and really he had no business being the person to try and make Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim feel these feelings. But she was a good woman. And with the conflict, he didn't want to see her become the emotionless monster his own father had become. And, well. He couldn't ignore someone who needed help. It was a stranger that helped him leave the Sith and taught him how to live outside that cruel reality.

Sometimes it was a strangers kindness that someone needed the most.

"You're killing yourself clinging to him. What happened, it's terrible. But you can't bring him back. No matter how many shards you find, he'll never be whole." He was saying the harsh reality, but his voice was anything but. "He wouldn't want you to tear your soul apart for him. Or to die. He wanted to live, but I've no doubt he wants you to live even more. What would he do if he saw you like this?"

Kahlil's words were as if someone had inserted more and more invisible daggers into her soul and heart. No! She does not accept this. Ingrid didn't know that something wasn't going to work. She never gave up anything, one way or another, but solved everything. Even if Adrian even told her a few times that it was craziness about what she was doing. She did not accept the failure and tried. Of course she was also pragmatic, admitting if something was unsolvable and then not working as an obsessive; they were similar to the man in this as well. But this? She was sure she would solve it; this is why she shook her head.

"I will find a way, even if it takes a thousand years, but there will be a way!"

She said as coldly as the darkest and coldest night of the Hoth or Kalidan. It was cold and determined, yet sober. There was no sign of obsession or any kind of madness in this. Oh, Adrian wasn't more selfish than that, though it's true that the woman knew that even her husband would find this crazy idea. But she also knew that if she succeeded, their son could get to know his father and Adrian could live, and the Sith Lord loved to live more than anything.

"He didn’t ask, and it wasn’t intentional, it happened when our souls touched each other. A piece of both of us tore out of our souls and stayed with the other, or just returned with me to the Realspace. Conversely, he would try to bring me back…"

Not as obsessed as Ingrid had done, she was sure of that, but she also knew he would give it a try.

"I’m sure you wouldn’t give up either if someone died who was important to you…"

lqTDRqo.png

nBtOGGm.gif

Well, at least that got her to open up a bit. If almost hostile. The determination behind it though, Kahlil couldn't deny it. The bond they had through the Force, it was far too strong if it could rip apart their very souls. She'd only be killing herself as time went on, but he couldn't bring himself to say that. Her death didn't matter if it meant Adrian could live again. That much he believed.

As a Jedi Kahlil tried his best to avoid acting in emotion. Not that he suppressed them or denied that they existed. He just took them into consideration for whatever he did. But that last thing Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim said struck him in a way he hadn't expected. His eyes narrowed. "I never gave up." For once his level tone had it's own venom in it, but he caught it. Cut it off. He exhaled a breath as he leaned back in his seat, trying to simply relax away that flash of anger.

"People will die. But if you keep trying to bring them life, you no longer live your own. What of your still living husband? Will you leave him a widow too?"

Although Kahlil probably didn't get any reassurance, Ingrid would have really liked to have given her life to bring Adrian back with it. The woman has always lived and raised in such a way that the individual is not necessarily important, the family and the clan are. In addition, she was a soldier, ready at any time to sacrifice her life for others. Adrian tried to talk to her more than once that the woman was important now, she was the Eternal Empire, she shouldn't put others in front of herself, she needed to take care of herself, but that was hard to change.

To tell the truth, Ingrid was surprised by the reaction to her last words. She didn't expect to feel anger right from the Jedi, or an emotional reaction like the one Kahlil showed now. From this she already knew that the man was in a similar situation like her now. Although Ingrid's face didn't look surprised, it couldn't be felt in the Force. She could well suppress her feelings.

"I'm sorry!" said honestly. "But don't ask me that either…"

Smiled involuntarily at the man's words for a moment, it was also clear from here that the man didn't know her at all, maybe he didn't know her yet, but right now he really doesn't.

"This sentence would be correct if I had ever had an independent life. I never had. Lord Tubrok knows exactly what he has undertaken, we have been a couple for more than fifteen years. He knows, as Lord Vandiir knew, that for me the Empire and my people were first. I'm a soldier, Mr. Kahlil. My life never mattered, but to those I can save. People will die, yes…"

Paused for a moment, then took a deep breath.

"But it wasn’t simply dead, so he didn’t even have a chance to become one with the Force or find peace. He is a Sith Lord, but I would not wish this fate to my greatest enemy either. He deserves me to try to make him at least find peace. Even if I can't bring him back, I have to do it for him, because… he died because of me."

"I- You don't have to apologize. I should. I'm sorry." He was the one who spoke out of anger and emotion. He listened in silence this time as Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim spoke. What she said was a surprise. He hadn't even thought about what it meant to have his soul shattered so brutally. He'd lost people, but not like that.

".. He won't find peace if you kill yourself trying to help him. I can help. You said your soul reacts to him in the nether? What have you tried so far?"

She wasn't surprised that Khalil was surprised by what she said. Before this incident, she had never encountered such a thing that a soul would be so shattered. Only read about it for a few pieces, but Adrian's case was different. Really tiny shards or some smaller or bigger chunk left just out of it. She still blamed herself for not getting there on time, just a few minutes... If she had gotten there ten minutes earlier, Adrian would still be alive today.

She didn’t know if Kahlil could help with this or not; and the question was very personal and intimate. At least she felt that way at that moment. Especially since she hadn’t told anyone about this so far except Telis Taharin-Zambrano Telis Taharin-Zambrano , the Eternal Empire’s army could see the benefits of her experiments, and Greystone in particular. She invented several unique things that she hadn’t previously thought was possible, but she didn’t get any closer to her own plans. However, it was because of this, she believed, because of new inventions, that sooner or later she would find a way to do the same.

"What have I tried so far? By recalling a concrete, definite soul into a person’s former body. Or at least a dozen different ways to put soul pieces together. In the meantime, several new inventions have been made, but I can't cope with the merging yet. Of course, I don’t practice with his soulshards. And yes, under the influence of soulshards, it’s like there’s still a Force-bond between us. These two also respond to my emotions and reflect what Adrian felt in a similar situation. They all have a similar effect in the Nether, they feel I’m there. And in the Nether, it’s totally like the Force-bond also exists. I know that doesn't make much sense…"

"Can you feel them? Say, if I were to take one of those shards out of the room, would you be bale to tell in which direction I took it?" There was a lot he didn't understand about this, if only because he'd never had to deal with a shattered soul this bad. Though, he did know a lot about shattered souls. He reached up to grip the back of his shoulder, idly rubbing it at the thought. The memory.

"When my father put his.. Soul, in me, I was able to feel.. Him. Close by. Its.. Not a comfortable feeling, but it let me know where he was. If you can feel something like that, we might be able to find a way to at least pinpoint where his soul might be."

"Yes, I feel both of these, and when I’m in the Netherworld I feel all the others where they are the distance doesn’t matter. Already during and after our first meeting, I was able to tune in to Adrian and his aura with awesome ease. For example, during the siege of PL, when Tacitus declared war on TSE and we jumped into the system, I could already feel exactly where he was down on the planet when we were just near the planet, we were in space. And then there was not even a Force-bond between us. Our relationship just started to deepening after this."

The red-haired woman listened intently to the man, it couldn't be pleasant when Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex marked him. She still hadn’t met the former Emperor, she could only feel him up close because there were a couple of times when they were very close to each other.

"I can feel him, but for me it is pleasant. I know exactly where the soulshards are in the Nether, quite often I also visit them. And what is the bond between us? Activate the lightsaber, please!"

She shoved both in front of the man. If Kahlil did what she asked for, they would be activated as a simple black-bladed lightsaber. The woman then stood up and walked over to the man, then touched one of the grips while the man held it. A bluish light appeared around the blade, the colour of Adrian's eyes.

"This is an example of how he reacts to me… my closeness." said and pulled her hand away as she let go of the grip, the blue light disappeared and again only the black blade remained.

"So you know where he is, just, not how to put him back together." That made sense. Really, it explained a lot about Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim 's seeming obsession. It wasn't. It was possible, just, she needed to find the method. The example of the lightsaber solidified that in his mind. To see a blade turn blue, one of a Sith no less, was truly something in of itself. A soft smile formed before he turned the blade off to hand it back to the Empress.

"What is it you need done to bring him peace? As I said, I will do what I can to assist."

"Yes, it is precisely the case that I do not know how to unite the soul so as not to cause further harm in it, or perhaps how to heal it."

She wanted to believe it was possible, but she didn’t really have much knowledge about the Light Side, just the opposite. Such is the case when all her teachers were only Sith. She knew that within the Wardens, the use of the Light Side was not forbidden either, in fact, there were those who knew such tricks, but the woman was not one of them. She took back the lightsaber when Kahlil handed it to her. She set it on the table and sat back down.

Thought about what the man had said, she was grateful for the offer, but she didn't know what he could help with. That is, not really, because she did not yet know what she was looking for. She means, she knew, but not how, it could be mastered. She thought for a few more moments, then spoke again as she remembered something. Not much because she could ask Dragon too, but the man was very busy…

"Because I don’t have much progress in sorcery and alchemy yet, and maybe I would need knowledge about healing as well. I am not familiar with Jedi and Light Side abilities. If you could help me with that, whether with books or teaching a thing or two, you would commit me endlessly."

"Using the Light to heal a soul is something I can do. But if he doesn't want to accept the Light, it'll only do more harm than good. If this is the route you want, you'll have to convince him to accept it." There was a pause from the Jedi. Something more left unsaid as Kahlil tried to figure out how exactly to word it for Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim . Honestly, he didn't have much of an idea on how to word it, so he went with the blunt version.

Ingrid nodded to Kahlil's words, so what she read and heard about it was true that the other had to agree to be healed. What nonsense was in her eyes; however, she could not turn a blind eye to the fact that she could cause more damage with this. Especially that she knew that Adrian was particularly sensitive to the Light Side. As he put it, it was like an allergy.

"Then put this option at the very end of the list."

Especially because she didn't want to hurt Adrian or damage him. And consent was a difficult matter; for there were not really enough pieces left to have personality and consciousness, or to comprehend such a thing. Thus, however, if she succeeds she will lose him forever and not get back him. She really needed another solution.

"You mentioned that you were a sorcerer while you lived as a Sith. So far, I haven’t found too much information in the library of Tacitus and Adrian about souls. That is, more about how to unite souls. Could you recommend books, holocrons, or maybe say a Sith Lord who took this more seriously? Even if they don’t help me, maybe I can draw inspiration from it to develop a unique method…"
