The Silver Jedi Come (Dominion of Malachor V + Sith Order Rebellion)

Objectice: Do my own thing (whoever wants in to help make a story)

What was he doing here? Judah hadn't taken part of a mission like this without his ranger since... well it had been a while. He had felt complete with her, but like with all things it had to come to an end. His relationship, or his desires, had pulled him away from who he was supposed to be. His world had changed and the Padawan was feeling his way through life. He had not been alone ever, and now he was. JJ had always worked with a companion, and today he was without.

Judah held his Lightsaber in hand. As he wandered the dark world of Malachor V he did not know what he was going to come across. There were those who had been sent to secure the temple of shadows. His father was likely among them. Judah Sr. had been a shadow for the Silver Order and the Jedi Master would be relied upon for that. Judah was not his father, he followed the path of guardian. His path was influenced by the Corellian upbringing he had, as well as the training he had received from his "aunt." JJ missed his family, but he knew his destiny lay away from them. He missed his ranger, but his path lay away from her as well.

Destiny was a fickle and fluid mistress. When Judah thought he had it figured out a shift came, or a turn he did not expect. This was not the first time it had happened and would not be the last. Following the pull of dark energy he knew a test was coming. Was this mission the day he finally would let go of the guilt which haunted him from his first kill. It was done to save a life, and yet, he had never been able to forgive himself. JJ was on the line. His path could remain light or fall to the darkness.

Jacen nodded at the Lady Master's words, he took the Force calming his f]mind and let it reach out to take everything in. Upon entering, Jacen first noticed the smell, the smell of drink was in the air, but not a heavy scent like one in a bar would expect. Instead there was a slight, but strong sweet smell to suggest this was more than a simple bar. He then used his eyes to take in more. He counted fifteen people. Three at the bar, five sharing a table, two sharing a dinner and conversation, one by the jute box, two rough looking men speaking in hush tones and a single female sitting in the shadows in a booth. Jacen and her eyes met and he felt her hate, he would keep her in the front of her mind.

As they walked up and she ordered, Jacen spoke politely, but quickly, "I will take a water, thank you." While he had no problems with drinking, he was young and still had difficulty with his power in the Force and thus he could not risk weakening his perception and awareness. As his water was slid over to him, he lifted it to his lips and paused. He smelled the water using the Force to enhance his perception and found it clean and thus took his first sip. He could feel something, uneasy about the room. Was there someone sensitive here who could feel Jacen probing and searching? He brought in his senses to 2 meters. This way, he would hopefully defuse a possible situation, but have enough time to react if needed.

A small smile rested on Théo's face as he watched the youngling Beorni, now his apprentice. The Adventure on Midvinter, his rite of passage had threw up more then all that participated on that journey had ever expected. Much as still to come of that trip, it had only heralded the start of a new chapter for the majestic ice planet and he for one, looked forward to help 'writing' it. But that was all in the future, and it is never good to dwell of what might be, as it is to dwell on the past. The past is there to inform us, make us what we are today, but to cling to lives once lived, pining for it is folly. The here and now, had both of them on a ship headed toward a vast glacier which had become large in the view port. The ship lowered and skimmed over the surface of it scanner busy penetrating the surface as well and beyond that.

They are off to investigate the findings of the sensors, unknown structures beyond the horizon and of interest to the Silver Jedi. The view port of the ship began to ice up in the corners of the window, cold and clear air outside clashed with the heat of the interior and a fog on the window began to obscure their vision. Love the cold weather does the two now ready to disembark on their mission, Théo relished the thought of the cold, even though he has to opportunity to have it most days recently. He knew the cub would be happy for it.

"You ready little one?", he turned to Kiriko. So unique are these people of Midvinter, and there is still plenty to learn for both the cultures of Midvinter. As soon as the ship reached it's destination, the mission would begin.

"I'm picking up other users of the Jedi Robes near the engines on sensors, stay close, there are predators between us and these Jedi, also detected on sensors"

"Transponders are on the bridge, boss" Jessica reported, with the findings of the R9 unit.

"Leave the transponders alone: we can come back to them later"

"Ready weapons! But don't fire without provocation"

With Charzon readying her ER-1 electromagnetic slugthrower, and Jessica with her SI-74 in tow, they prepare to fight the Ranphyx if they antagonized them. So it turns out that the Saak'ak (or some other Lucrehulk) crashed against the wall of a mountain in an attempt to control its crash. Even on Kashyyyk, Jessica fell flat on her back after firing her SI-74 even from a kneeling position, so she had to lie prone on the ground if she was to actually fire it at predators with it, preferably grouped close together. And they walked through the huge ports left behind by the destruction of the engines in them, the massive Proton 2 engines. Upon leaving the carcass of the Saak'ak, they get closer to the Jedi, which they could see as a Hutt in the distance and some other Jedi attempting to control the Ranphyx, standing between the ladies and the Jedi. They tread carefully as they enter the cave (presumably the explosion of these Proton 2s would have punched a hole in the mountain) and attempt to fight the Ranphyx.

"Need a little help?" Charzon shouted in the Hutt's direction.

"The Saak'ak wreck lies just beyond the cave!" Marcia added.

"You ready little one?"

Play it cool.

Play it cool.

...and just pretend no one can see that little puffball tail twitching furiously.

"Oh, yes, Master Théo," the cub chirped brightly, his clipped, Beorni accent pronouncing the name Thea-oh. The cubs fur was standing on end, as if electrified. The small, rounded ears perked up high on the boy's head.

There were a hundred different questions that the cub wanted to ask. Paws and a button nose pressed up against the transparisteel glass, "How does the sky boat stay afloat, Master?" The 'sky boat' being the shuttle delivering them to the tundra. At the same time, faun brown eyes darted in an effort to see everything there was to see, the cub's head going left and right with the vigorous effort. "What is this land called? Are there people here? Are we quite far from Midvinter?"

The shuttle landed, his questions forgotten as the boy dropped to all fours and bounded over to the hatch. Dropping his haunches, he sat like a puppy waiting for the door, tail twitching still as it dusted the floor. Until finally the hatch opened as the boy bounded out and down the loading ramp.

Tucking into a roll, the cub flipped end over end as he landed into the soft snow. Picking himself up, the young Beorni stood on his hind legs as he reared up and pelted out a cheery, "Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaddddd-VENTURE TIME!"

"Well let's get to it then." Rasu said, placing a comforting hand on Ar'ekk's shoulder. She was confident in the abilities of Celiana however the young human had yet to face a challenge as the one that would await them inside the temple. His training on Yutan had been short, but the Shi'ido had faith in the Republic's ability to have the Padawan ready for his first mission in the field. "You'll be fine," she said looking at Ar'ekk, "Both of you. Just stick by me." Turning to face the temple once more, Rasu entered the hall.

Like many of these ancient temples, it appeared the design was to have everything dark. Similar to the enclave on Telos, the academy remained in utter darkness. While meager lights did little to radiate the walls, Rasu could barely see her own hand in front of her. Unclipping the saber at her belt, the Jedi ignited her weapon and immediately cast some light on the area before them.

A great pit lay in front of the group, with a narrow walkway connecting the hall to a central plateau in the middle of the chamber. The humming of her weapon echoed throughout the chamber as she brought it to hang over the pit in an attempt to determine the depth. However the golden light only reached so far, so Rasu thought it best of the group to stay away from the edge. "Stay close to the sides."

Their goal was simple, to recover what had been lost during the initial occupation of the world. Rasu had been absent from the invasion however now was their chance to gain more knowledge on the subject of the dark side and lock it away from those who would use it to cause harm. The academy was sure to have some form of archive, and when they had found that, then their mission could be successful. However the academy was vast, with no limit to the amount of traps that remained unseen. The group had to be cautious, but that would be obvious to the group, who had already received the Shi'ido's mother-like behaviour.

As the trio made it to the central plateau, the Shi'ido's eyes gazed at the three paths before them. Each walkway led into a similar shaped doorway however by using the Force, Rasu hoped to learn more about what lay beyond each entrance. Turning to the Padawan's, she wondered if they could be of help.

"Each of you pick a walkway, and extend your consciousness through the entrance. We need to find the archives, so let's see what we can see through the Force, saving some time in the process."

Having followed Master Gan to the central plateau I felt the conscsiousness of Meetra Surik enter my mind and she spoke, "Celiana, these three archways...They lead to the domain of The Sith Triumvarate from my era. Darth Nihilus was known for his use of The Force to drain the life of others. Darth Sion was known for his pain keeping him alive indefinitely I convinced him to let go and embrace death. The third is of Darth Traya, Kreia to the Jedi. It's worth noting that she was a Jedi historian and that the probability of any significant knowledge is likely within that particular area. Revan learned from her and she returned here to see what had driven him away. She was corrupted and became a betrayer, what you'll be looking for is a sense of the characterisics these Lords of The Sith were known for. Pain, Hunger, and Betrayal."

With that I felt her retreat from my mind. Casting my senses on the doorways I felt for the characteristics that the Sith Triumvarate were known for. The sense I cast towards the left was of utter agony and pain, the far right was a gnawing sensation of need to feed on the lives of others. That left sensing the center pathway. Taking several steps toward the center pathway I cast my senses towards the doorway. I saw a vision of Aria walking into my home and seeing me with another woman. Tears streamed down her face and she fled from me, the word in the voice of Traya echoed back through the ages, "Betrayal!"

Opening my eyes I felt hot tears on my cheeks, I'd never do that to Aria. Glancing towards Master Gan I was sure she could sense the distress I'd felt at that vision. I pointed to each archway and the doors that loomed at the end of them. Meeting Master Gan's eyes I said, "These were the domains of the Sith Triumvarate of Meetra Surik's age. Sion, Nihilus, and Traya." Pointing towards the archway on the left I shakily said, "Darth Sion's domain agony and pain. The far right was Darth Nihilus's domain endless hunger that could never be satiated and devoured everything including at the end himself. The middle path is of Traya, Dark Lord of The Sith, master of this academy, manipulation and betrayal. She was at one time a Jedi historian as well as one of the Masters who trained Revan, if we're seeking knowledge or answers I'd guess it'd be there."

Looking towards Master Gan I said, "Meetra remembers these halls, the tip was from her Master Gan but the decision is yours. You're the leader of this mission. Your call Master." I knew that I forged my own path but that vision had embodied the Triumvarate perfectly. The sense of betrayal, pain, and hunger. The vision had been of my betrayal, the pain of driving Aria away and the hunger or desire to do ANYTHING to bring her back to me. I hoped that would never happen but I also realized that with every decision I made I could change that from ever happening...

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
“The Jedi who fall are the most dangerous of all.”

It was a well-known line from a children’s rhyme. And for some reason she couldn’t shift it from her mind.

Sorel wasn't entirely sure what she had been requested to come here to do, only that it involved furthering her training. She stretched out a tentative hand. Almost immediately she experienced the tingling sensation of the Force surging around her fingertips. A small chill touched the base of her spine.

Sorel sighed and rested herself against the hull of her ship which she’d landed in a small clearing amongst a copse near the Academy. Sitting cross-legged with her hands folded across her lap, she closed her eyes. She quieted herself down until all that remained was the sound of her own breath.

She opened herself up to the harmony of nature. She concentrated on distinguishing between the soft hoots of the birds, the cries of a hundred animals, and the scuttling sounds of thousands of insects.

Her breathing became slower, more exact, falling into an almost lulling rhythm. She remembered the meditative exercises taught to her by her first Master.

A sharp pain cut through her concentration, twisting like a vibroblade in her gut. She would never forget the last day she’d seen him.

It seemed whatever had gone down in this building had scarred his friend deeply, and by the state of it it must've taken place a long time ago. Thurion could relate; considering the sensation he got during his revisit to the Pelagon orphanage, now rebuilt and in full use again. Its walls had been filled with happiness again, but he could never find it for himself while within them. The memories remained as vivid and painful as they had been decades ago, and he doubted he'd ever be rid of them. Even with his brother alive and well, it still hurt.

Noticing how she struggled to make it up the stairs, Thurion remained by her side and reached for her hand while wrapping his arm around her waist. "Easy, now. I got you." Slowly they made it up the staircase, one step at a time. "You know, when Coci was this late in her pregnancy she could barely make it up or down the stairs of our home on Tabaqui. I had to carry her downstairs for breakfast each morning," he chuckled softly, trying to ease the turmoil going on inside Kära's mind. "And boy, could she eat! She was like a force of nature at the dinner table, let me tell you!"

Just the idea of being here was weird in Ar'ekk's mind. Why would we be digging something in an ancient Sith temple? That tought kept flourishing in the Padawan's mind, giving this visit some sort of meaning. He wasn't scared, in fact, he wanted to fight as soon as something approached the trio.

Walking cautiosly along the hallways of this Sith place, he took a pause to hear what Celiana had to say.

"Darth Nihilus? I'll take his, on the far right." he said with quick wittiness. His lightsaber was already ignited as these words came out of his mouth. The blue beaming plasma made the whole place lighten up and the buzzing sound of it was way too loud.

Ar'ekk walked up to the archway that once belonged to Darth Nihilus, one of the most if not the most powerful Dark Lord of the Sith to ever live. With a lightsaber on his side, the Padawan entered a state of complete focus, channeling the Force. His eyes remained closed, trying to find answers to what the trio was here hoping to find.

What would he find beyond these walls?

Soon he would find out.

No answer from the Jedi. This means that they must not leave the wreck of the Saak'ak until they have accomplished what they were to accomplish here. But, as they assumed defensive positions around the starboard engine socket, these rabid, oversized felines called Ranphyx, with Jessica being prone between kneeling Charzon and Marcia, prepared to charge the trio of women. Their weapons being ready to fire, a F-11D for Marcia, a slugthrower for Charzon, with the last two things being shoulder-fired. Jessica was again to fire anti-vehicle rounds at a dense pack of Ranphyx, with the energy spread among several of them, hopefully behaving like panokseons, or other creatures that held similar behaviors, fleeing if a few of them die. None of them knew anything about Ranphyx and none of them were biologists. So they just fired a few volleys (Marcia and Charzon could fire three or four rounds in the time Jessica could fire one, given the nature of their weapons) in their directions in an attempt to drive them out.

"Our presence is a provocation to them"

"Fire!" Charzon told them.

"Roger"

Sorel Crieff

Ready are you? What know you of ready?
Sorel’s face twitched as she relived the awful moment of her Master’s death. Not the manner or the means of his death but his actions in the final moments. The truth was harder to bear than the fact that he was dead.

She stood and stared at the ancient temple, once a seat of Sith learning. She wondered if it was somewhere like this, a formal academy. Or perhaps it was entirely informal? Not that the ‘where’ really mattered. The Jedi that took the young Sorel as his Padawan and travelled the galaxy with her was living a lie. The one she saw as perfect was flawed. And not in a small way. He used the dark-side. Not exclusively, but he used it. And it devastated the young Padawan for years – and despite returning to the fold, finding a new Master and progressing to Knighthood, it hung over her.

If someone as strong and as powerful as her first Master could fall, could it happen to Sorel?

There was a lot happening and looking at Claire she had a look on her face presenting some of the outfits with a nod of her head. "Always padawan, we made them for the order." She turned to look at Lyth and Undin with a nod of her head while the silver temple came into view for them to see. The silver stone gleamed in the light while the jedi that were there and the soldiers from the ranger's were standing at the ready. Matsu could see the green of the illusion around it to conceal it before she was walking into the temple to lead the others. Statues that had been erected along with some of the other walls. They had been working with the jedi and ranger's here to provide them equipment as she listened.

"We have been working on more things, since the netherworld there has not been a lot of activity to deal with so we have had chances to develop and test out construction methods here in the temple." Arya was leading them while Matsu walked letting her padawans be able to able to get the robes on if they wanted to wear them. Lyth could be with her while they were heading in towards the main temple area to look around. For the most part they were a small operation but few things had really been trying to bother them for years so got to be alone and isolated while overseeing the prison. "What about the creatures on the planet? Have you found anything new?"

She had not wished to come to this cursed place - the Force flowed in waves of strange, tempestuous energy, a constant assault upon the senses that sought to drive those who swam within its depths to paths unknown. Perhaps to madness, perhaps to chaos, perhaps to revel in the tempest and turn towards a way of life that was not akin to that of any Jedi. Corruption and madness is what awaits us here. Small wonder the others had believed it only appropriate to attempt to cleanse this shell of a world.

There was, Teynara reflected, really something quite wrong with Malachor V. As a Healer, she knew herself sensitive to the varying rhythms of life that permeated most worlds in the galaxy: it was only natural that the Force show itself in such a fashion, carrying impressions from every life that it touched. This was something very different, though: where she should have felt ribbons of energy dancing across her mind, what she felt was a void, an absence. This is a place of death, not of life. Only a small few embers flickered in the darkness, and those carrying a taste of the light: her fellow Jedi.

Most went forward in small groups, little lights of energy shining together in a brighter beacon, easily sensed across a distance. A small handful had gone their separate ways: mostly those who shone a far brighter light than those who remained in groups, capable of pushing back the darkness without having to rely on their fellow Jedi. Not all, however: there were a few independent specks that had clearly gone off for reasons of their own, whatever those might have been.
One of them, however, concerned her greatly: most of the little lights in her mind were stable, their energy flowing strongly and holding the darkness at bay. Just one of them was flickering, as though the darkness threatened to extinguish it, a candle being pushed about by a breeze, giving way to the dark, only then reasserting itself. One of us, Teynara reflected, is in the middle of a struggle. And this wasn't the place for such a thing to be happening.

It took her a while to pinpoint that flickering light. The motion of her hoverchair was something she barely thought about, her attention entirely focused on finding the one Jedi on this world that was fighting a battle and losing. Not a physical one: no, if it had been that, his light would have shone brighter than all of them, every energy directed towards survival. No, this is the sort of battle that one fights inside, where only a handful might see it.

Her chair directed her to an opening, little illuminated, but with the dark skies nonetheless offering enough light that she might observe one being wandering aimlessly through the crumbled wasteland that much of this desolate place had to offer as scenery. The blonde woman reached out, stretching her mind forward so that her senses encompassed the Jedi ahead of her. Coming closer, he came into clearer focus: male, taller than she, but younger, his presence brighter with proximity, but flickering with dark stormclouds that threatened to overwhelm him with darkness.

"You shouldn't allow your emotions to project themselves so freely and without restraint," she said softly over the hum of her chair's repulsorlifts, her pale blue eyes staring serenely towards the young man who walked with his weapon boldly held in his hand, as if he might somehow fight a darkness that had nothing to do with his physical safety. "May as well have a neon sign hanging over your head screaming them out for all to see," Teynara added, smiling faintly with amusement at the idea of it. "What's troubling you? Is it this place, or something less tangible?"

The area ahead of them was oppressive when they were ascending the remains of the stairs. She could feel the darkside nature of the world almost like it was gathered here before she was moving with the one probe reporting in. There were some things around as she moving carefuly switching the directional crystal in her glove for the snare crystal when they finally arrived. "Alright head off in groups of two and pay attention to what there is happening. Stay in contact on the sigils using the lambent crystals and we'll be able to use the protection they offer against the darkside." She got nods as they were pairing up and she was left to work with the twins while they were moving around prepared.

Interest in more of the things that were happening around them before she entered the one pathway with them. The three jedi were searching while they walked in the black and silver outfits that were radiating with the lightside of the force before they came out into a large chamber where the light was coming through. The feeling of something oppressive coming onto their chests like a heavy weight had her reaching out with the force to feel the people around her until she was sure they might not be able to see anything else. Orihime moved over towards the sections of the floor to work with the twins as they were lifting up some of the slabs of floor to look down.

Stepping into the academy proper was a strange feeling. Kurayami's eyes narrowed as the other presence made their way through the academy, they didn't seem to take not of him. Even if thhey had they didn't seem to pay him any mind. It was of no concern in the end though. The sensors had mapped as much of the first portion of the academy as possible. It was a pretty standard layout, at least where he stood from the entrance was. A single hallway with a collection of smaller rooms that branched off, from quick glance it seemed as though there were twelve of them in total. They were not overly large, but that was not too strange either. He decided to map each of the rooms and see if there was anything left in any. It was doubtful that any useful information would be gleaned from the exercise but he was going to be as thorough as possible. He would work one 'level' at a time, start with the room on his right, move to the one directly across and repeat until all had been mapped. It would take quite a bit of time, but he was prepared for that, He had planned to be here a long while.

The next few hours were spent mapping the small rooms, and as expected they yielded little useful information upon first glance. But that was based only on sight, through the Force he could feel the despair, the deaths, the conflict of those whom had at one point occupied each of the rooms. The echoes were there if one would only listen. What he found odd ethough was that at the far end of the hall way he had entered from, within each of the two rooms farthest from the entrance, there was a door leading elsewhere. It took a bit of time but within a few miuntes he managed to open the one on the right and found himself greeted by another short hallway with another doorway at the end. This one opened far easier. The hallway was curved, arcing back towards the entrance. Herein there was yet another door at its terminus. Deciding not to open the door just yet, he retraced his steps and entered the door in the last room on the left side of the main hall. This was nearly identical in layout to the crescent shaped hall on the other side, but this one had three doors at the end.

Kurayami paused in front of the three doors, calling up the map he had managed to create thusfar. It would make sense that these three doors would lead somwhere completely different from the one at the end of the other hall. Now was as good a time as any to test this theory. To do so he opened all three doors in front of him and waited for the scanners to create a map for each of the doors and possible paths they may lead down. Once this process was done it seemed as though all three led to the same hallway. Before stepping inside he reached out through the Force again. Still only those few presences from earlier. He wondered where they had entered from. They seemed to be far from his position, perhaps even closer to the core than he was. He was perfectly fine with that notion though as he set off down the hall, his pace was still slower than perhaps it needed to be, but he was enjoying the break from combat. This was a quiet walk, eerie due to the location, yet he didn't feel out of place here. It was serene in the constancy of the echoes that were felt, even if they were not ones that were joyful, it llulled one into a sense of security, that all was well. And yet, he knew this place was where betrayal reigned supreme. That sense of calm brought on here was simply a ruse. He would not drop his mental defenses here, to do so would be disastrous. With that on his mind, he began to map the crescent. Again this would be time consuming, but it was needed. He would do what he had to.

Judah was wondering on his own, clearly conflicted. He should not have agreed to this mission knowing his own emotional state. Orders had already been broken and the masterless padawan walked off without any semblance of guidance to what he was going through. Was his light but a flicker? More so it seemed, as on this world it felt as though it were about to be extinguished. The further he moved on the more he felt himself not only broadcasting his feelings, but embracing them. The guilt was heavy, and all he could do was wallow in it. Malachor V was a bastion for the darkness, for the dead, and on this world he could only dwell on the life he had snuffed out.

"You shouldn't allow your emotions to project themselves so freely and without restraint," a feminine voice had drawn him out his dark musings. "May as well have a neon sign hanging over your head screaming them out for all to see. What's troubling you? Is it this place, or something less tangible?"

Judah stopped walking. He turned to see a blonde woman in a hover chair. This was amusing. A Jedi that had no use of her legs was going to help him with his problem? He did not make fun, nor did he give any indication that he was indignant or ungrateful for the fact she had reached out to him. In fact the opposite was quite true. JJ was a soul searching for an answer to the guilt which haunted him. This was not a place where he would find it, and yet here he was looking for a reason to use the blade in his hand and work out his feelings that way.

He breathed deeply and exhaled loudly.

"I don't know," he said at first knowing it was a lie.

Judah wanted to keep walking, and he started again. His feet only allowed him to move ahead three steps before they stopped him and turned him around to face the woman again. His lightsaber hit was still gripped tightly in his hand, though it was carried low at his thigh.

"A Jedi is not supposed to kill, and yet I have. I saved a life, but took a life to do so. No matter what I try to do I cannot reconcile this with who I have been taught to be. I know all the speeches... it was in defense, it was necessary, it was the right choice. However, it does not feel right, and I am doubting whether it was truly necessary."

For a moment, Teynara thought that the younger Jedi might turn and make a break for it - his body language gave every indication of wanting to avoid rather than confront the moment at hand. She could sense hesitation, though that alone would not speak to the desires he felt. The fact that he had continued to walk even though she knew he'd heard her, on the other hand - that was clearer than the emotions he was inadvertantly pouring into the Force for all to sense, if sufficiently sensitive to them.

Not particularly fair to run from a cripple, she thought inwardly, oddly amused despite herself. It had been a while since anyone had thought to make a deal out of her disability: most either acted like it didn't exist, or at least offered sufficient courtesy as to not make it obvious, perhaps simply by walking at pace with her hoverchair. But the young Jedi had seen her, and thought to turn away. Imagining yourself outrunning me, leaving me stuck here in my exasperation while you go forth into your solitude.

The part that worried here was simply this: a tantrum of that sort was just inviting the darkness of this world to come and stay. Such things would take time to cleanse, and something told her that the other Jedi wouldn't be so accommodating of the attempt, if his emotions continued to run unchecked.

"It is wrong to kill," Teynara observed cooly, affirming everything that the young man had been taught and clearly fretted over. She lifted one hand from the armrests of her hoverchair and pointed to the cylindrical weapon gripped so tightly in his. "Though for one so averse to violence, you certainly seem well-prepared for it," she added tartly, wondering if he recognised the dissonance in that act.

She'd seen this before, of course - it was something the Healers of the Temple were well versed in, since it was a common problem that almost every Jedi had to face at one point or another. Jedi were trained to fight, but also taught that life was sacred, and that to harm another was to have failed in your duty: a situation only ever escalated to combat when it had slipped beyond your control, and when your ability to handle it peacefully had failed. To most, the act of taking a life was traumatic, something that took a fair while to recover from. And so they come to us, to confess their failure, to seek atonement, to ask for comfort in a moment when they are at their weakest.

Worse, though, was when that reassurance hardened them to the act - there were many Jedi who, far from shying away from combat, now sought it. The Sith invited them to, of course, and they saw it as their duty to deal with those who stood in the way of their duty: thus, they became harbingers of their own making, warriors of the light who fought for it but therefore stood outside of it. Few of them ever recognised this, failing to see that their actions ultimately corrupted them. I fight for the light, therefore it must look favourably upon me. It was such a subtle conceit.

"Let's put our weapons away for now, hmm?", she suggested, though her own lightsaber remained concealed in the small storage compartment of her chair, within easy reach, but nonetheless not to be brandished so brazenly. She'd not had use for it since her...physical condition had changed, and she saw no reason to break that streak, particularly not with a member of her own Order. "You're a Jedi on a Sith world. It's understandable to feel a little jumpy, but the Force here is not what we know on Voss: here, it will reflect your darkest desires, your most dangerous intent. Come with violence in your heart, and violence will find you."

It was a level of dissonance again: he was angry with himself, she could see that, but he wanted to direct it outwards. Guilt makes people do funny things. Dealing with one's own feelings was always harder than burning them off with physical activity, and on Voss, she might even have encouraged him to find a sparring partner, or work with a training remote for a few hours until that outer emotional facade wore down, and he was ready to really talk. Not something you could ever do in a place like this. Activating that lightsaber might be the very last action you take as a Jedi. After that, he'd be something else entirely.

"May I ask: this person that you've killed...was it your choice to take their life, or was it theirs?", she asked softly, her hand lowering to rest atop her hoverchair, on the cover that concealed her from the waist downwards. "You gave them the option to walk away?"
