The Last Councilor(Mastering of Diana Moridena)

(As per the Last Faction vote Diana is now officially qualified to be a Master and i am taking that step, i like doing things in character so if you could join that would be amazing though you obviously do not have to.)

Diana Moridena stood outside the High Council Chamber fidgeting with her hands, nervousness was displayed across her face and her entire body language screamed of anxiety. She had been summoned today to stand in front of the council, for what reason she did not know, though in the back of her mind she thought it was something about the recent food fight in the cafeteria that had recently broken out due to her apprentice @[member="Avalore Eden"].

A more reasonable part of her of course thought this was silly and such a tiny matter was no reason to be called before the council, but it was a big deal and the young woman was beyond worried.

“Are you ready?”

One of the guards outside the chamber asked her and Diana stood up rigid as a flagpole. A thousand questions ran through her mind, and no answers came to her. The Jedi High Council was made up of the most powerful, most respected people in the entire Order, and to go before them was no small task. The Last time she had faced them she had left the Jedi Order due to the incident on Contruum.

That had been some time ago, but the memory still clung to the back of her mind like wet paper.

This time however there was nothing like that. She had not disobeyed any Orders, she had not gone against the councils will. Heck she had done the opposite. She had fought dozens of Sith, killed Karin Dorn, nearly redeemed Mikhail Shorn, and had helped with Ossus. She had done nothing wrong.

Of course the thought of a promotion never entered the little Jedi's head.

“You may go in now.”

The Guard spoke again, and Diana simply nodded. She made herself relax, taking a deep breath and letting the anxiety fade from her mind. The door's to the council chamber opened, and the Jedi Knight stepped in, a false air of confidence flowing about her.

Killing Karin Dorn wouldn't do Diana any favors with Josh, considering the two were friends just prior to her sudden demise. Josh had been searching for her daughter, Evelyyn, ever since, in hopes of making sure she was safe and healthy and taken care of after her mother's death. But that wasn't about that. Not today.

A smirk was on Josh's face as he took his seat in the Council chambers. Today, he finally looked like the man and Jedi Master that had earned this promotion. His hood was off, he was well groomed, and though his eyes still showed the tiredness that had plagued his lack of sleep, he was all smiles. It wasn't everyday that someone was brought onto their Council, after all...

Well, that was a lie. Kinda. There had been quite a few new entries into the fold lately. Diana, to him, came as a surprise considering what she did on Contruum... But Selena, who threw a karking fit in front of the Council when confronted, was now Grandmaster. So this, he would shake off and be happy for her for. But if she messed up.... Ohhhh, oh ho ho ho ho ho ho..... Josh would make sure that she was worthy of Master by the time he was through with her. Masterhood was a big deal in itself. Josh had gone through hell and back to get said position, and the Council was an even bigger deal, one that Josh had been serving on since Knighthood. Actually, notwithstanding Syn's departure and return after hiring pirates to attack a Republic world, Josh was the 2nd longest tenured member of the Council currently, having been put on it during Knighthood, and never officially left since. He had seen the council change around him. Ben Watts had disappeared, leaving Je'gan in his place as Grandmaster. Je'gan would also disappear, as would Darron Wraith. He was on the Council to see Selena become Grandmaster, his 3rd instance of a Grandmaster change while he was on the Council, as well as seeing the promotions of Kiskla, Phyllis, Carn, the reemergence of Tefka on the Council, Rianna, Avy, Iella and most recently Daella, to the Jedi Council. And now, he would see the introduction of another.... Diana Moridena.

He just hoped that she would be able to shake off her past misgivings and be a faithful member of the Council. It was no walk in the park after all, and Council members were liable to abuse their power, especially if put above the others... Not giving names... So he hoped she would be up to the task.

Regardless, he was happy for her. She'd been in the Order quite awhile, setbacks aside, and deserved it quite well. And now, he sat in the chamber... Early, he was the first to arrive, as he liked to be, and waited for the rest....

Syn had been hearing about the other things Diana had done, he had been in the food fight and it had been some levity they order needed. He had been at Ossus and it had been something they needed to do even going so far as he and Kiskla fighting with Tracyn. That wasn't what interested him in the moment though, in truth he much preferred the sight that was coming now. Of the nearly fully assembled council with only one seat missing for the group. He hadn't been here to see such a sight and it only served to balance out all of their personalities.

He didn't stare at the other councilors just remained very still in his seat before speaking and letting his senses flare over each of them. "So shall we begin?"

From the perspective of @[member="Diana Moridena"], Daella’s holographic form sat three chairs from the left end of the near-complete circle. Daella remained near the frontlines of the war against the Sith Empire. The gash across her right cheek had been covered with synthskin since Ossus. She wore near Jedi battle armor. She sat upright with both hands on the armrest.

The physical seat Daella took at the Council’s Chamber was sharp edged and straight. The seat back was low and had just a couple degree of an incline. It did not stretch higher than Daella’s shoulder blades. The only cushions, which could be seen through Daella’s hologram, were red and covered the seat itself and back.

Sitting with her hands just off the edge of the armrest, Daella kept her knees at a sharp, ninety-degree angle and no further than wait-length apart together rather than stretch them out. Her feet remained flat on the ground.

Every seat had been filled by either a sitting Jedi Master or their hologram except for one. Daella sat to the left of that specific, vacant seat.

As soon as Diana entered the Chamber, Daella turned her head to the right to face her. She did not show any emotion on her face - as usual. Ever since becoming a Councilor recently, Daella remained quiet yet focused on the task before the Council. Just as the few previous meetings she attended before, Daella kept her silence for the moment.

Phylis was sitting distractedly in her seat playing with a datapad stylus. She straightened up when the door opened and peered at the oncoming Jedi Knight.
Syn started by speaking, all official like. Phylis brightened up.

"Yes, welcome, Jedi Moridena! Please come in to the middle of the circle. There are important matters to discuss."
She wasn't trying to be mysterious or drag it out, but she figured someone else should start the proceedings.

Iella sat quietly within the chamber, her eyes leisurely taking in the view of Coruscant as they awaited Diana. The Force swirled around her, sending it balm through her body as she too, is nervous. This is her first time in this seat and she is please her first sitting is for a pleasant reason. Her eyes moved from the sky line to the Jedi Masters around her, some she had met and some not as yet, until now. She began to wonder on the history of this very room, the names that had graced it's floors as they too came to sit in this circle of Jedi, the history of greatness and pain, mistakes and victories. All now 'living' within the very fiber of the Temple and she had to wonder if they are watching now.

The door swished open and Knight Diana Moridena walked in, Iella's mouth turned slightly with a smile, but only briefly. One remaining seat lays open for someone to occupy it. She considered how long it had been since the circle was full, she had not see it, but now they are all on the threshold of completion. Some here have sat the chambers long .. and she considered what they might be thinking of this too.

For the moment .. Iella let the experienced Masters take the lead, however, she is more then ready to participate.

Diana smiled at Phylis, a Jedi Master that had always been kind to her. Then her eyes drifted to Daella, the hologram within the room, She smiled at her bladesister as well, being met with a cold gaze back that she had now grown more than used to. Slowly the Jedi Knight walked to the center of the room, following the direction of Phylis until she stood in the very middle of all eleven Jedi Councilors.

For a moment she grew tense again, not sure why she was here or why all eleven members were present.

Usually there were a few missing, one or two of them on missions and a few others doing things across the Order. This time however all of them were present in one form or another, and that made Diana more nervous than before. Her stomach knotted slightly, at the thought of what was about to happen, but she knew she had to bare through it.

With a confident face she looked to the Jedi Masters, ready for anything.

Phylis returned the smile. It was odd, but Phylis rather liked the girl, or at least respected her. They were opposites in Jedi beliefs and inclinations of course, but Phylis could appreciate that the Order required lightsabres as well as scholars.

Since no one else had taken the lead she cleared her throat again. How did one do this? Was it ‘surprise, you’re a Master now!’ or was it more subtle dramatic irony hints until the Jedi Knight caught on? Having remembered her own mastering being the latter, she decided to be more direct. Lacking the skill for a good dramatic speech…except in a few cases involving things she was fervent about, she straightened and tried to compose herself.

“So, Jedi Moridena, your efforts as a Jedi have certainly come to our attention. Whilst in the old days it was not customary to advance one as, hmm, young as you, these are desperate times, and you have shown yourself to be both capable and hard working. So, hmm, the Council has decided to offer you the rank of Jedi Master and a place on this Council. This is not a reward so much as it is a new commitment. I’m sure though you will perform admirably,” Phylis said. It wasn’t a very good speech, but it was all there.

Aware she’d probably spoiled the dramaticness of the moment, she looked around to see if any of the Masters wanted to add something.

Rianna had been looking down at the datapad, new shipments arriving and a request for assistance when Diana Moridena walked in, yes walked in. Rianna knew this Jedi.

She had not given in to the terrible injuries she received, Rianna had been fortunate enough to be on board the Mercy, and luckily able to assist the Jedi Knight, oh no wait no longer Knight but Master. She smiled at Diana, nodding in greeting as those on the Council became very formal. Occasions such as this required formality, as a new Master would take on the mantle of membership on the Council. The body which helped to decide things within the order.

What was there to add except, "Welcome to the ranks of Master, Diana Moridena may the force guide your path"

Like the newly titled Master that @[member="Phylis Alince"] had just revealed, Kiskla came from a bloodline of tradition. Therefore, this procedural meeting was not out of character for the young blonde.

Speaking of bloodlines, Kiskla was rather interested in the advancement of the redhead in the centre. Credited to her royal records, princessly privileges, aristocratic access and other alliterative descriptive methods to say she had read Diana's data (oh look, another one); Kiskla had discovered the two had a trait in common: Their heritage.
Being a Kiffar was a rather reserved tidbit of information on her part, considering the Art of the Small was constantly at work to conceal her tattoos in an effort to protect her planet. Never in her lifetime did she want her political prestige to put her people in a position of leverage against herself, or The Order. But, digression is necessary for this thread is to honour the excellent rise of @[member="Diana Moridena"].

Silenely she sat in her designated seat, one that she was sure was beginning to fit to her form because it was becoming more and more comfortable (that, or she was becoming numb).

"Particularly admirable," The blonde added to the tail end of Phylis' statement "Were your efforts on Ossus. Putting others before yourself, especially someone plagued by darkness was a major contributor to your ascension." Her light eyes rested on her fellow kiffar, shifting her weight slightly before completing her contribution "Welcome."

Diana stood absolutely stunned for a few seconds, she had no response.

Her minded twisted and whirled, surely they must have been playing some elaborate practical joke on her. Her a Master? What a silly prospect. Then her mind began to race with all that she had done. The Slaying of Velok, her return to the Order, Ossus, Nar Shaddaa, her fight against so many Sith. Slowly the pieces began to fall into place and the look of absolute shock and confusion dropped form Diana's face. She deserved this...didn't she?

She had worked hard, she had done her duty. All the things she had ever done had been for this, to gain a seat on the council, to change the Order in a profound way. A smile began to dawn on her face, a look of pride filling her eyes, and an expression of utter excitement crossing her face.

“Yes!” She nearly squealed the word, though was able to contain most of her excitement.

She had done it! She had become a Master, she had earned a seat on the council. She could hardly contain herself and she began to shake slightly from the rush of endorphins that came over her. There was nothing else for her to really say. Pure and utter excitement washed over her.

"Congratulations Master Moridena but there is much work to be done. Your actions on Ossus and the growing discontent against the sith are only the beginning. The council can be a good place for you to learn what will help you in the decades to come."

Iella could not help but smile too. In fact in helped to settle her own nerves in her first sitting. She had worked with Diana in Umbara .. the fortress built there now, complete with outposts for protection and security. Diana had proven herself to be a great leader then, and Iella had not forgot that experience.

The other councilors spoke informing her of her new title, one in which she deserved greatly.

"Master Moridena", she spoked using her new title., "Please take a seat", she indicated to the last remaining seat in the chambers.

Phylis at this point noticed, rather belatedly, that the spare seat was next to her. She also realised that she'd left a datapad on there, as it was convienient.
Coughing slightly, and looking a little sheepish, she removed it so the new Jedi Master could sit.

"Well, now there's twelve of us. That's good! Just have to hope there's no more promotions or it'll get rather crowded in here!" she said happily.
Probably wasn't the right thing to say. She never did know what to say.

Diana smiled, and slowly but methodically wandered over the seat between Phylis and Daella. She looked at it for a few moment, the hard surface covered only with two soft pads. She would have to see about getting a new chair in here, one that reclined perhaps. The thought made her grin slightly, and slowly she turned around, pulling her lightsabers hilts from the small of her back and placing them in the side of the chair.

Then Diana plopped herself down into the chair.

She seemed satisfied, looking at all her fellow councilors and Masters. She was their equal now, she was the exact same as them. Slowly she met each of their gazes, giving a nod to each one of them. She had done it.

The hall outside the Council Chamber was quiet and warm, much like all highly acclaimed places of the upper Jedi echelons were. Avalore was grateful for this and the tasteful application of blue and gold hues within the hall decor.

She sat upon an upholstered bench reading a novella propped against her protruding belly. The Jedi and the Assassin, she licked her thumb and turned a page, was the most magnificent romance novel of all time. Twice as addictive as Twilight and terribly detrimental to one's brain.

These Council meetings sure took a long time.

Rianna nodded, "Master Moridena" Rianna could sense the woman enjoyed hearing it, it confirming to her that yes she had reached this level, and now sat with others who helped to guide the Jedi.

It was a great accomplishment.

(I'm not time skipping this forward a bit and turning it into a thread for me and my apprentices. Thank you very much to those who joined I really appreciate it)
Nearly two hours later the council finally broke. One by one the Jedi Masters left the council chamber, strolling out of the room with smiles on their faces. The Councilors who had been holograms quickly disappeared and went back to their works outside the Republic. Diana remained sitting within the council chamber for a few moments, her seat still as uncomfortable as it had been at the start of sitting on it.

She sat there for a few moments, thinking and wondering. Then a smile suddenly ruptured her face.

The new Jedi Master had news to deliver to her apprentices. They were now being taught by the Last Member of the Council, a newly minted Jedi master. She stood from her chair, and ran out of the council chamber whirling her head to the side and finding Avalore still sitting and waiting.

Her steps quickly turned into a slow walk as she approached her pregnant apprentice and her face bore a solemn look. “I have some bad news.”

Diana began, bullpoodoo flowing from her lips.

“I'm afraid I can no longer be the Jedi Knight that teaches you.” She gave a long pause, and then her voice broke into excitement. “Because i'm know a Jedi Master!”
@[member="Avalore Eden"]

Avalore looked up at Diana as the women emerged from the Council Chamber, staring warily at the supposed "bad news".

Bad news and trouble are like oceans, they cover the planet. At this point I'm fairly certain I'm on a dingy, drifting somewhere in the middle of a great big one.

The true news, however, seemed to push the breath out of her nose that she'd been holding. Avalore's face split into a broad grin, "Way to go, Dangerous-Di!" Pushing herself up with a grunt, she moved to give the woman a one-armed hug because that was the only way she could really manage these things anymore. Ava often wondered how fat people managed their day-to-day selves.

The elastic stretch bands on these pants were itchy as hell.

"So does this mean you get a tall, pointed hat and a long white beard and now I have to call you Dangerous-Di the White?"
