ADVANCED SYSTEMS
STRENGTHS
  • Planetary Deflector shield: This station has enough power output to envelop entire planets with a massive deflector shield, effectively acting as a shield gate in the process. Coupled with it's insurmountable defenses and impressive offensive capacity, this makes for one heck of an orbital security system.
  • Extreme Defense: By utilizing many different shields, dense and sturdy materials and a double layer of outer plating makes for one extremely tough and sturdy obstacle for any invading party to try and overcome this station's defenses and the planet it is supposed to protect.
  • Extreme hangar capacity: An incredible amount of room has been saved to make sure this station can send out a large amount of starfighters to aid in its defense when under threat of external forces. With at the very least twenty squadrons of starfighters and at the very least seven squadrons of support ships, this station can be seen as a flying fortress.
WEAKNESSES
  • Completely unmovable: Though it has engines, these are simply to slowly and continuously adjust its position to keep it in place, other than that it is incapable of moving around freely, thus once built on the arranged location, it can either explode or crash, it won't be moving in any other way unless towed by a couple star destroyer sized ships.
  • No hyperdrive: Having no hyperdrive means this station has to be assembled locally, it also means once it has been assembled, it is there to stay and depending on the region, if it isn't destroyed, it'll probably pass a lot of hands. it also means should a faction lose control of the planet|hex where this station is located, they automatically also lose control of this station, thus losing all the money used to buy this in the first place.
DESCRIPTION

  • Design process
The design of this immense planetary defense station has its origins in the old designs of planetary shield gates and shield generators, yet rather than seeking to form a small shield or creating a rather fragile shield gate, the engineers responsible for the design of the Thanatos orbital planetary gate envisioned it more as a plug to the shield rather than a bottleneck, thus started working on the design from that idea. The earliest set backs to the design came in the form of materials, as to create such large stations, material availability and usability needed to be taken into account, thus other projects, mainly in the mettalurgic departments of the company took precedence and severely delayed the continued design and the completion thereof by severa months, not to mention the political shifts around the company's headquarters within the Eriadu system also provided several moments of forced delays and reworkings within the initial designs.

When finally the metallurgic departments had come up with several solutions and propositions in the form of the variety of Ersteel alloy compositions, the engineers entrusted with designing the station could finally finish the design on schedule with the intended completion during the year 860 ABY.

  • Construction process
The Construction of the Thanatos Planetary shield platforms is probably its most interesting part, as many of the parts of this space station have to be transported with large superfreighters and haulers to the location of choice, where they will be put together. This construction process brings along with it a lot of risks and it is without a doubt a lenghty process, as everything is done within orbit of the client planet, meaning that when the client planet is a populated place, the risks only increase. However, N&Z has managed to produce most of the large parts such as the complete skeletal structures internally within its own facilities to lessen the risks considerably.

  • Final Product
The Thanatos planetary shield platform will function as a simple, heavily armed and armored space station in orbit of a chosen planet after construction has been completed. It is in itself well guarded and well defended by a variety of shielding and weaponry placements, but can also house a large number of starfighters and support ships should they ever be needed. Upon activation of the planetary shield, the "arms" located on joins in the middle of the ship's height will expand and spread out to generate a shield large enough to envelop most small to medium sized planets, for larger planets with a circumverence higher than 20,000 miles, it is adviced to procure and install more than one Thanatos platform to ensure maximum safety and security for the client.
