SPECIAL FEATURES

  • Depending on the size of the RIAR, it can double as both a shield generator and an engine due to its massive and surprisingly stable energy output at relatively low expense in fueling. This residual energy is usually best used in the form of a Ion repulse shield, which effectively scrambles the electronics of torpedoes, missiles, bombs, etc. A dual shielded ship using this engine/generator combination haspossibly the best defense one could possibly wish for.
  • As the energy can be used for defense, the residual energy can also be used to power mass drivers, railguns, etc. Allowing for much higher number of weapons than usual on many ships thanks to its stedy and huge amount of energy.
  • RIAR's can be efficiently coupled to droid brains or automated navicomputers to allow an automatic powersupply to ships without needing manual regulators. it's internal ionization and massive gravity field also provide some protection against outside interference with electronics.
Strengths:
  • Impressive power output: because a single RIAR is in theory capable of propelling a battlecruiser the size of the EMS built Princept Class, a single unit's overflowing energy in most ships can either be used for reinforced shielding or improved weaponry.
  • Electromagnetic field: Expensive to work with, but worth the trouble. The RIAR generates its own electromagnetic field due to its massive energy output, making it hard to penetrate it with electronic warfare or even ION and EMP grenades.
Weaknesses:
  • Very expensive and big: a RIAR unit in its current form will not be economically viable to be put in anything but star destroyers of at least 1500m and upwards, with two of them only plausible in ships of 2000m and upwards.
  • Conventional weaponry: Due to its high electromagnetic field, any conventional slug or missile penetrating the duralium safety plating can cause catastrophy within the RIAR.
DESCRIPTION

Built with the idea of capitalizing on the repulsor lift technology of the company, the EMS have worked tirelessly and with great effort to recreate an old CIS weapon and reverse engineered it to end up with a more suitable and stable energy source for engines, hyperdrives, weapons' systems and more. Though the result is highly satisfactory, there are already rumours of smaller units being engineered to have lesser energy output, but more cost efficiency. For now, this reactor will mainly see service within the EMS largest ship line-ups.

Electromagnetic field: Expensive to work with, but worth the trouble. The RIAR generates its own electromagnetic field with a heavy gravitation field to boot, making it hard to penetrate it with electronic warfare or even ION and EMP grenades. It's heavy gravitational field also allows for use of holonet transeivers in hyperspace.

Interesting concept, but I'm raising an eyebrow at this section. Specifically the fact it generates a gravitation field. This isn't necessarily a bad or outlandish thing, but the way conventional canon hyperspace technology works, encountering a gravitational field would automatically revert the ship to real space the moment it was engaged. This would be similar to how interdiction fields work.

Might want to revisit this part of the concept.

Removed the gravitation mention, though it's something from Canon (malevolence explained) I guess in hindsight it's as hard to properly explain as the hyperspace ramming bs xD
