Faction &nbsp; Stomping out a threat

It wasn’t often nowadays that the Dauntless were deployed outside of the regions that the Confederacy reigned over. Gone were the days of constantly fighting a new empire a new front, and the focus inward toward their own needs had become the expectation. Even their latest conflict, Atrisia, had been within the Confederacy’s borders technically. The last time Luna and her brothers and sisters in arms had been deployed to an external conflict would have been..Taanab, unless her memory was starting to escape her. Too many blows to the head and concussive grenades could trigger that. At least that’s what that annoying medical droid tried to tell her.

Today, however, would be a nice change of pace. It wasn’t a directorate empire or some power rising to the forefront with the idea of conquering the galaxy. This threat was much smaller, albeit, no less annoying and dangerous to those that wished to live free on the Confederacy’s fringe planets. Rarely was a group such as this able to amass the firepower and man power to conduct raids as on the CIS as easily as they had, but from what the intel had detailed, this planet was a scavenger’s shipyard wet dream. With them able to get enough ships in the air, then moved from being an annoying gnat, to a threat worthy of the boot of the Confederacy’s might coming down hard upon them.

Within the hanger of the flagship piloted by their newest Fleet Marshall,

Tyrias Aran , her mind flashed briefly over the times and battles that she had been part of before. Perhaps the conflict ahead would provide more memories of the Dauntless’s conquests, one that could be told to the privates as they emerged from their basic training. Hopefully it would not be one of painful losses, like the ones suffered fighting back the zombie threat that had emerged from thin air on Atrisia.

Perhaps one day they would find what exactly had caused the outbreak to occur, and what had made it spread so quickly. For now, there were slavers to stomp out, and Luna would be doing it with a brand new squad. Tau squad. She had transferred a familiar faces, namely Tien and Q’vares, but the majority of the squad were ones that she had not fought with before. This type of warfare was all about trusting the gun next to you, which made this just a bit more a worrisome prospect. Still, tau squad was where they were for a reason, and Luna would place her trust in them when the time came.

While the squad began to pile onto to the Krell Class Lander, the Grand Marshal’s hand reached up to her helmet, sending out an operations wide comm to all of the squads involved in the assault. “this is Grand Marshal Terrik to all squads. Begin loading up onto your landers. Officers, remember your objectives when we hit the ground. We have to hit the exposed part of the facility from the ship as quickly as possible and get those defenses shut down, so that we can land additional troops on the ground. I’ll keep us updated as we progress. Good luck everyone.”

Shutting off the comms for just a moment to load onto lander with her equipment, storing it in the compartment below her feet, she took her seat near the back of the ship, intent on checking in on a few more components on this operation before it kicked off. First, to her own fleet marshal. “Commander Aran, are we go to begin our assault?” Then, to the overall fleet commander of the operation, the High Marshal

Amelia von Sorenn . “High Marshal, what’s the status of our fleet? Everyone make it alright?” Finally, after a few moments to breath and ponder the alternatives, while not coming up with any, her final comm went to newly elevated Lord Vizier,

Kyyrk . It was a Knight Obsidian she hadn’t been able to fight beside before, and one that she hoped would prove his worth on the battlefield. At least the stories about him were good enough for many. “This Grand Marshal Terrik, Lord Vizier. We are prepped and ready to begin our landing assault. I assume your force is ready for the go as well?”

Those answers would help determine her next words, but assuming nothing had gone wrong in their approach, everyone was ready. Now, it was down to all divisions just doing their job. Complete that, and these slavers would never the light of the next day. The Confederacy would make sure of that.

Fleet Marshal Cypher Rage stood tall and opposing on the bridge of the Confederate Warship Star Talon. It was beautiful start, and an admirable crew. For a while, Cypher had let himself creep into the shadows of the Confederate Defense Force. He had once been acclaimed as one of the most brilliant tactical geniuses in the Defense Force, and after a steady build up in rank, he had become the seinir officer of the Confederate Border Armada which was still in in it's infancy. So young that the Vicelord hadn't officially recognized it as a active component of the Naval Command.

Ideally, the Border Armada was to designed as a way to allow the main battle groups of th Confederacy to patrol the space inside thier assigned sectors and those attached to the Border Armada to patrol the space around them. It was perfect power sharing agreement, or rather power sharing concept.

"Engage preliminary thrust. Power weaponry and engage forward shields. All forces, fall into Battle Formation Alpha. " Cypher ordered. The Fleet Marshal stepped forward towards the glasteel viewport adjoined to the Bridge.

As the Open Circle Fleet begin maneuvering towards the enemy Uglies, he couldn't help but smile. He lived for actual combat, and if anything this would help him take his mind off his son, Ezikiel, who had followed his father footsteps. "The poor child" he couldn't help but think.

"Fleet Marshall, Grand Marshall Terrik is verifying green light."

The Chiss officer sat upright with her red eyes upon a datapad held in her left hand when the question was asked. Fluidly, she lifted and turned her attention from the device to her second-in-command. "Ship weapons status."

"All batteries are green."

Good. "Flight path?" Tyrias followed up without delay.

"Operational."

A small smile played upon dark blue lips for a moment. "Please inform the Grand Marshal she is Go for launch," the Fleet Marshal declared in final determination. While there would be resistance, it was nothing they were not already well-prepared to handle. If need be the ship would lay down cover fire and carve out a path for the drop ships.

While they had been awaiting the Dauntless personnel mobilization, Tyrias had been reviewing the geological survey taken upon their arrival and noting strategic locations of interest. While it was unlikely these pirates would be as thorough as the Fleet Marshal, it was never wise to underestimate your opponent. Obviously the various branches of the Confederacy were in agreement on that matter given the amount of resources and personnel deployed to counter this increased and surprisingly effective pirate activity.

"Status of enemy ground-to-air capabilities," Tyrias announced. They were closer than most to the enemy stronghold considering the 'package' to be delivered. If there was a ship the pirates might try to attack from afar it would be them. Naturally, she welcome them to try.

While the Dauntless would occupy themselves in launching, the ship's crew would maintain overwatch until they were down. Once deployed, however, they would join the rest of the fleet unless the Dauntless required rapid extraction or additional resources. They were a naval vessel, but the ground troops required support like any other military unit; Tyrias' ship served in that capacity when the Grand Marshal required it.

Colonel Tiria Reinhart turned her head to look in the Grand Marshal's direction when her voice came in over the comms. When the woman finished speaking, Alpha Squad's Commander turned to face the rest of the unit. "You heard the Grand Marshal. Get your asses on that lander, stow your gear, and clench your cheeks. 'First In' is not just our motto, it is what we do. Move it." Her voice was crisp and loud for all to hear, though there was no scorn behind it. Everyone knew the score. This wasn't their first operation\, but it was time to get their heads in the mission.

From the briefing material it appeared a band of pirates had gotten it in their heads they could steal big ticket items from the Confederacy. A pretty egregious tactical error on their part. It was tantamount to blowing up a Sith Lord's residence -- you don't do it unless you're prepared to fight for the rest of your life. More often than not, however, you wouldn't struggle for long.

Stupid has their move was, they weren't incompetent. The pirates hadn't merely "gotten lucky" acquiring the heavy vessels and ordinance that they had. It would have taken a string of luck so long you could stretch it from one end of the Confederacy to the other. So the enemy was capable -- which meant they were dangerous. And if they weren't completely out of touch, it meant they knew the Confederacy was coming.

Alpha's Lead strode up the ramp and down the aisle. Her eyes scanned over everyone present and the gear in their arms, on their person, or stowed aboard ship. "Listen up, there'll be a thirty-second count to doors open. Second they're down, we haul ass to take position. We do this by the numbers; I don't want any of you thinking these people are push overs. If you shred them like paper you can gloat later -- but there will be a later. Am I understood?" Time to make sure everyone else understood the same situation their commander did. No clusters resulting from arrogant assumptions.

"Good. We're about to bring the hurt to the Confederacy's enemies."

Krek was not here to be stomped out. In fact, when he'd taken this particular job he'd been assured that there would be little to no combat going on -- these were slavers, low-level ones at that. They did not deal in fighters and warriors, they sold primarily workers, and those who the smaller folk might find attractive. He had seen it as an easy way to get credits. He would stand and look scary to discourage escape attempts while the slaves were processed. Additionally, he'd stand and look scary to encourage a lack of 'funny business' on the part of buyers.

And now they were being attacked.

The Twon Ketee did not know why they were being attacked. All he was told was that the C-I-S was at their doorstep. He didn't know who they were, but he thought about it while he gathered his gear for the coming battle. By the time he'd donned his armor and gathered his weapons, he still had no idea.

Nonetheless, from the updates given by the Ranc Gang's forces, it was clear their enemy was well armed and coming quickly. In truth he did not care much for his current employers. He didn't much care for the slaves here, either. There was only one thing he cared about, and for today he put it in the small pod he carried on his back.

It was time to earn his pay. Whoever these enemies were, when they hit the ground he would face them. And, in all likelihood, they would face death.

Helmet at her side, Jas stood with the rest of Tau as she did a quick equipment check of her own gear. Her father had instilled in her a mental step to always ensure you were properly equipped, whether it included a weapon or not. Once she was certain everything was in order, her grip tightened on the chin of the helmet before lifting it up once handed and onto her head as her commlink was tied to the proper channels for communication.

Stepping into the lander, she took a seat near the door, stowing her weapon below her before glancing out into the hanger bay, watching those that she could see prepare for the coming operation. Slavery hadn't been an issue the KDF had to deal with. Though, to her, it meant they were an enemy who would fight for what they had, no matter what. If anything, she had learned one thing.. slavers don't like to lose those of value, and that's exactly what Dauntless was coming for.

Another pirate run. This time on the planet of Kaddak in Confederacy territory. They seemed to never get the picture that they were unwanted around here. Soon after assuming the ordered attack formation, colonel Foster and her squadron responded to a group of attacking enemy fighters. She were caught a fighter in a pursuit and opened up the radio frequency with the punch of a button.

''Civilian fighter! Stop and turn of your engines, to be ready to be escorted to a vessel of the Confederacy of Indepentent Systems. Your rights as a prisoner of war will be considered, as long as you cooperate.'' she sent out through the comms to the fighter but to no avail. It continued in the same pace as before, trying to evade the black T-77 stealth fighter. The T-77 was vastly superior against the old and outdated fighters of the pirates. It was more or less a routine for the colonel to encounter these scoundrels buy now, but the CIS had been uping their game by now and saw a more serious threat to their territory with the increase of pirate activity in CIS space.

The fighter made a sharp turn to the up and right, making the T-77 shot past and continued down its intended trajectory. So, the pirate wanted to play cat and mouse? A small issue that were countered with the reverse boosters being ignited and the T-77 flipped upside down by its pilot and were now facing the pirate. A laser bolt flew past the CIS ship, to which colonel Foster answered with two presses to the button on the joystick and blew the fighter up in a thunderball. She let out a small sigh through the oxygen mask before flipping the ship back. A manouver completely outside the protocol, but one which got the job done. She had flown the bird enough times, both in the simulator and live, to know she could take more stress than the instructors would admit.

Voph's personal ship, the Unyielding Visage, slid through the quietness of space near the back of the Dauntless fleet. The ship was carrying the entirety of the Knights Obsidian selected for this task. Voph stood encased in his Desolation Armor, save for his helmet, near the helm of the ship. The two mighty lightsabers hung from his hips, and the cortosis spikes that grew from his shoulders gleamed in the light. The scowl upon his face betrayed his thoughts. It was time to put a stop to this piracy. A tangible enemy was what Voph lived for. Their attack would be swift, decisive, and victorious.

"The Knights stand ready to execute our mission, Grand Marshal. We'll see you on the ground."

Voph turned and exited the bridge as the ship accelerated to fly past the other ships, like a shadow fleeing the light. Voph made a short path to the hanger below him. It wasn't the most comfortable travel arrangements, but it was where the Knights were staged to exit the craft. As Voph stepped into the hanger, his helmet settled over his neck, and snapped into place. His hood was drawn, and red eyes shone from the shadows beneath. His mere presence alone commanded a good deal of attention from the gathered knights. "Listen up, Knights! We're getting close to the A.O. Time to finish checking your gear and get ready to drop. Masters and Senior Knights, to me!"

Voph removed a small holoprojector from his utility belt. The Knights would be spreading out to seek and destroy for this operation. Teams of two, with orders to link with other knights as necessary as the mission evolved. To save time, Voph was only briefing the senior half of the Knights. "Our friends are holed up in an old MC80 Cruiser. Fairly standard model from what our intel has provided, including floor plans. That said, the ship is derelict on the surface, so expect environmental resistance. We don't know if the pirates have patched the interior or not. Just because a hallway exists on the map doesn't mean it will exist on the ground. Don't rely on the map. Trust your instincts. Trust in the Force.

We've identified the Brig as the most likely place the pirates will be holding captives, its our job to get them out. Locate the captives, establish safe lanes for evacuation, and cut down any pirate that crosses us. Those of us proficient at combat will be drawing the fight away from the captives by going directly after the Pirate Lord. Stay in touch, and don't be afraid to call for help. Brief your partners, we land in five."

Above the planet the Angelic Fury exited hyperspace. It’s massive durasteel doors opened, and the Eternal drop pods were readied for launch. The destroyer angled itself and a million calculations were done. Into two of the drop pods droids were loaded. The Clankers and Tuskcats were among Allya’s favorites to bring into battle. They were cramped together inside the pod, allowing them to have the maximum size possible. Into three other drop pods, the Dauntless Delta squad was loaded. Each man armed, and armored with XIPHOS armor, and triblasters. Grenades, explosives, and various tools were packed with each one.

This new Delta Squad was made up of many newer soldiers. However, most of them were Clones of Sarge Pottinger, as Allya had made up her squad from the beginning. Most of the familiar ones had been sent to lead various squads across the Dauntless’ bulk, or to serve as seconds in command. It was time to teach these shinies a thing about how war was conducted.

Allya was armed head to toe. Her armor was her normal, but this time sporting Dauntless coloration. As a Mandalorian, she would die before giving up her armor for something else unless the mission absolutely called for it. Besides, her rage was intense today. An Inquisition. Again. Politicians bickering, and blaming each other when it was usually their own fault. Cowards unable to get their hands dirty. Idiots each of them. Uncle Alkor had been made an Exarch, allowing for Adron to stay more with his family. Fine by her, it meant he wouldn't try and touch her again.

However, all of these feelings swirled inside of her, and forced the girl’s darker nature to come to the surface. It needed an outlet, and this planet was the perfect target for her wrath. The teen twitched a bit as she sat down in the pod and strapped herself in. Her squad had been briefed and each was ready. Her fingers tapped in impatience on the armrest of her crash seat.

Like a light in the darkness, a voice came through her helmet. The voice was calm, secure and immediately caused her to relax. “Major. Relax. We will get them out of there, and come back alive. Focus, you can have your fun in time,” Crash...her oldest clone. He had been with her for what seemed forever. His presence with her made her agitation fade and her wrath calm down into a smolder. “Thanks Crash. Take care until we get to the surface.” Allya took a deep breath, and closed her eyes. “IONA, link the droids to the suit the moment we reach the surface. I want instant ability to command them. Charge all reactors.”

IONA’s voice came through, as cocky and insufferable as always. “I already have. Do you think I’m as slow as you are, Mistress?” It always made Allya feel better. IONA was an amazing partner in this. “Thank you.”

Allya began to focus on the dark side, and let it swirl around her. She kept her emotions smoldering. Images of her father, uncles, of those damned Viceroys, and those damned kriffing perverts….images of the slavers she was about to kill...all of it swirled through her mind and she focused all of the emotions into a single point. It was time.

In one of the other pods, Crash chuckled to himself. Their leader was...impulsive. But she was good at what she did. It had been a ride. In training he had never expected to be commanded by someone so young. Or so dangerous. One of the new recruits sat there, his armor shining in the pale light as the pods were finished being calibrated. He spoke up “Why are we being launched at the planet in pods, rather than joining the others in transports?”

Crash didn’t even have to think about it. It was a question he had once asked himself. “Because, she wants to head right in and to divide their attention away from the main force. There are people she loves in the other squads. The Major will always place herself in the greatest danger, taking on everything that is thrown at her. Delta Squad and the Entirety of the Ash Angels exist as an extension of her will. We take on the burden with her of protecting the confederacy and its people and Its troops. Stay behind us, follow our orders and you will most likely make it out alive. Disobey and you will be put down.”

Crash stayed stoic as he spoke. “Besides. She has a flair for the dramatic, it’s genetic. You should see how her father does it. Good luck soldier. Welcome to Delta.” The Vicelord was a terrifying man. Crash was glad he wasn’t assigned to HIS guard. He doubted he would have lasted as long as he had.

The pod doors were soon shut and the Angelic Fury made some last minute corrections. Power was rerouted to the catapults. “Launch in ten.” What seemed like a handful of moments later, the pods were launched at tremendous speed at the planet. Their own engines whined as they added their own power to the speed. The pods shook as they entered the atmosphere.

They honed right in on the ship on the ground. The Anti-Air guns didn’t have much time to react as at full speed the pods barreled through any shielding, their boarding harpoons pierce the hull of the derelict ship in close proximity to one another. The Harpoons released their poison gas, incapacitating any who were in the hallway they had broken into. The droid pods opened first, and the Tuskcats leapt out, ready to fire, and quickly coordinated to guard any directions that led to the landing site. The Clankers were next, extending their shields for added defensive ability. Allya clamored out of her safety harnesses. Ahh the landing had been ROUGH. Her head rang a bit, but it didn’t matter. She slapped the button for opening the hatch. Soon she stumbled into the hallway, lightsaber ignited in one hand, her blaster in the other.

She looked around the hallway. Two gang members had been incapacitated, and she barked orders. “Search them, gather any security cards, or comm devices!” The squad broke into fire-teams quickly. One searched the bodies, and gave the Major the devices. The others backed up the droids, destroyed security cameras and took a layout of their general vicinity.

“IONA, scan all enemy communications. Decrypt what you can and send it to Luna. Also I want a detailed scan of the interior of this place. Send the scans to Luna and Voph. I want to know everything that is happening and I want them to know it too.” Well. Hopefully this would be a big enough discretion that Luna and the others would be able to disable the defense systems as they focused on Delta. At the very least, outside opposition should be lesser as the gang had to focus on multiple battles. “Stay cautious! Proceed by the book. Take no chances. We could easily get overwhelmed here. use the terrain. If need be, retreat behind me and watch my back. We have this.” A voice was heard in her head from IONA. “Reactors online. Weapon systems charged, shields ready to deploy. Currently, my scans show no force bubbles in the area. All systems are go.” Allya smirked as her eyes began to take on a yellow hue inside her helmet. Let them come. It would be fun.

Jaisus Mosknip was not in a good mood. But then again, Jaisus Mosknip was hardly ever in a good mood.

The Ortollan Captain, ten-time naval wonder who'd served in various mercenary and pirate fleets, had been hired by the Ranc gang to fix up the shoddy excuse of a fleet that the gang had been operating for over a decade. For an organization that ran a front as a salvage and repair company, the sorry state of the dated ships within the Ranc's fleet had been disgusting to behold for a creature such as Jaisus, who had been accustomed to top-of-the-line ships purchased, stolen, or acquired through other means. He'd made it a project to fix up the shoddy armada, ensuring that he was paid quadruple of what had originally been owed to him, and had made good on his word; old ships flew like they were just out of the factory, and the broken-down command structure had been filled in with new ranks of capable pirates to captain and crew these vessels.

And now Jaisus's earflaps almost shivered with anger as he saw pinpricks of light burst out into existence among the canopy of stars from the bridge of his Sunset Symphony, a refurbished Venator-class Star Destroyer from the days before the great darkness. The Symphony was the pride of the Ranc fleet, a ship that stood as the largest and most armed of all the mismatched destroyers, picket cruisers, and frigates that comprised the private armada. And now the Ortollan didn't even need to see the commscan readout that gave every indication that this blasted Confederacy fleet was larger, more well-armed, and better trained than his rabble of pirates. But as he began to calm himself and consider his situation, his fury gave way to an imperceptible smile beneath his large trunk. In spite of everything else, the Pirate Captain did not lack in one thing; ingenuity.

He'd prepared himself for these sorts of situations, and even now as data readouts floated around him, his mind began to go into action as he prepared his battle plan. "Toolaz, I want our runners with Empion Mines to make with all haste for the revertion points that the Confederacy vanguard has dropped out. Ignore damage and do not engage, but place the mines where the ships have dropped out and then return to the fleet's formation," the Ortollan barked, standing up from his chair of command to survey the battlefield with his own eyes. Already he could see the mine-laden runners racing out of formation towards the drop points, and he felt a surge of pride. Ten years ago, he was sure that such an order would not have been relayed as quickly, but now he watched the three DP20 Light Frigates stream away, covering the distance at extremely fast speeds.

As he gazed out onto the fleet, accurate readouts of the Confederacy's vanguard fleet began to appear on Mosknip's screen, and the Ortollan frowned as he read over them. Apparently, the largest ship he had to contend with was some long-range battlecruiser, one that could pick off the ships of his fleet one-by-one at this current range without fear of retribution. That being said, closing the distance would greatly decrease the effectiveness of those long-range cannons. Steepling his hands as he turned to the bridge crew, he announced the latest facet of his plan. "Prepare the fleet for a micro-jump -- I want to be right on top of their ships," the Ortollan said as he strolled back to his chair of command, turning and sitting to watch as the starry backdrop dropped into the blue swirls of hyperspace for the briefest of seconds before the stars appeared once again. The only exception this time was that most of them were obscured by the large battleships of the Confederacy.

"Inform the fleet to begin evasive action maneuvers! Stay topside of those autocannons, and engage along with enfilading formations. Bombers, I want Ion bombs disabling those capital ships, starfighters protect your bombers. Once a ship is disabled, all cruisers are to pour fire and let it burn. Gunships, Light Frigates, and Corvettes prepare flanking maneuvers and get behind those ships. For those that don't have orders, you may blow up whatever the kriff you want," the Ortollan Captain said with finality and he clasped his pudgy hands together. The Confederacy had come to challenge his might, but they would not last long.

"Was it too karking much to ask that goddamn individual to focus on something more than stroking their own karking ego for once?"

The thought quickly shot into her mind as the fleet dropped from hyperspace, the forward corvettes being struck by the Empion mine that had been laid out in the revertion point of the fleet. A soft growl escaped as he stepped forward, watching the corvettes as they began to drift in space. Clutching her hands behind her back, she took a moment to collect her thoughts as the messages poured in. Nodding her head quietly, she turned her attention towards the Empion mines that were still active, lucky enough it seemed that the corvettes had taken the brunt of the mine's capability and she'd still had three vessels to work with.

"Grand Marshal Luna Terrik , there are Empion mines in the collection point; myself and Commander Deshal will be focusing on neutralizing this threat. I suggest we do not send additional vessels unless absolutely necessary or have them drop at the edge of the system and work their way in."

Turning her attention back to the task at hand, she lightly tapped her foot against the deck as she motioned the vessels forward, bringing them closer to the Empion mine though ensuring they remained outside of its effective range.

"Commander Anashla Deshal , maintain your vessels at a safe distance from those mines, we're working with limited resources at this moment. Our primary focus is to clear the Empion mines before additional forces arrive. For now we'll permit Fleet Marshal Cypher Rage to take the brunt of the enemy assault from the enemy fleet. He decided to walk his happy posterior into a hornet's nest and will get the opportunity to rectify the mistake of moving on their own."

With their first operational goal set in stone, it came to do the actual work. She was not there to further her career or stroke her ego; rather she was there to perform her duty and get the job done. The Empion mines would be a constant thorn in the Confederacy's side if they weren't dealt with and it seemed that certain individuals didn't have the mind set of ensuring that additional forces could arrive without further molestation from such a weapon.

"Saboath Cruisers will unleash their fighter squadrons and set up a screen to protect those corvettes from enemy fighters. The Cruisers and our own Munificent will focus on taking out the nearest Empion mines at long range and provide additional support to the fighters if any enemy vessels come in to take shots at the disabled corvettes."

At that very moment her focus was two fold, remove the Empion mines and cover the disabled corvettes while they recovered. Anything else was secondary; the next step to be taken after the first.

Several ships emerged from hyperspace one after another not at the rear of the Grand Marshall's fleet but away from what would certainly become the main battle line in. On the bridge of the lead vessel of the collection of frigates stood the young Commander of the Confederacy, eyes surveying the battlespace before them as the fleets were arrayed and ready to engage in very short order. Though before they had arrived, they had already lost the advantage in an apparent blunder, one which the Grand Marshall and she would now help correct. A sudden call from the right drew her violet eyes toward a young officer seeking her attention.

"Commander, Orders from the Grand Marshall. She says to engage the Empion mines at range" succinct instructions she could handle. she nodded to the man before she looked back up toward the windows. Weighing her options before she spoke. "Send to all ships in our line; accelerate to full and close to maximum effective weapon range, target the closest mines and fire at will. Keep the formation tight to maximize the field of fire” she paused and re-emphasized “Again, maintain maximum effective range only, do not close in on the mines unless you wish your ship to be crippled and helplessly destroyed by the slavers.” The man nodded and relayed her orders.

Once the word was given all six ships accelerated together into an attack vector on the nearest mines, the leviathan class assault frigates were not the fastest ships, but they were quite effectively armed for ships of their size, as they closed on the first mine one ship fired early she simply rolled her eyes in minor irritation. As soon as they reached effective range however a blistering barrage erupted from all six ships striking multiple mines at the head of the Grand Marshall’s fleet hoping to clear the way before the pirates realized the mines were threatened, she would not halt her advance unless their charge proved too swift or the situation changed.

Attacking a target such as this one was extremely interesting. Most of the time, there would be a few anti air towers here and there defending a target like this. They had to, since it kept the attackers from just straffing their facility with air attacks over and over again. This meant that Luna expected the ride down in the shuttle to be a bit rough. The difference with this target was that it was plugged into many of the defensive systems of the capital ship, meaning it had a lot more defenses for the attack that the Confederacy had planned.

This made the journey down a much rougher one than expected, prompting Luna multiple times to grip hard onto the metal handgrips to either side of her seat. There hadn’t been a landing this rough since Eshan that she had participated in. Hopefully that wasn’t a sign there would be a star destroyer coming down on their heads again. That was one experience she wasn’t exactly keen on relieving again. Not that she could control something like that.

What she could control, however, was how quickly she busted out of the shuttle once it landed. Or crash landed, at this point. Either way, when the light within the shuttle flipped from one of white color to red, the Grand Marshal stood from her seated position, followed by many in the shuttle. “Eyes up, gear ready. Fifteen seconds to landing.” Her VAARS rifle was pulled from the under compartment and shouldered. In the time left, her hands moved to her vambraces, tightening them a final time, just as the red light flipped to green.

Their shuttle had been able to land softly enough, but the moment the back opened up, multiple turbolaser shots slammed into the sand just outside. It left deep, black marks right beside the metal ramp, which would be surely enough to put a pause into many soldiers. To Luna’s thankfulness, this was not the case with Tau squad. Despite the danger closely outside, Luna felt the commandos pour our of the shuttle beside her, charging into the face of death as they made their way toward the facility’s walls. “Don’t stop! Keep moving!”

Duraplast boots bit into the shifting sands as they charged forward, turbolasers slamming into the ground beside them all the way. The exploding sands kicked up, showing their visors and making the journey forward just a bit harder. Yet with the direction that the shuttle had been able to drop them off, all it took was for them to keep pushing forward into the maws of danger. When they eventually reached the walls the turbolasers shots would be lessoned, but the fire from above on the wall’s ramparts would be extreme, to say the least. Once Luna’s shoulder hit that wall, she’d order that they fire up some of the shield generators to give them at least a moments reprieve. For now, though, all that mattered was getting to the wall in the first place.

Millu was looking around and doing what any curious being does best: exploring. It had been three days since she first came to Geonosis with the new students of the Knights Obsidian, and she heard that the Knights were supposed to have a special mission today. So the girl was exploring around the hangar, hoping that she would be able to catch some of them before thay left. It would be interesting to see how the Knights operate.

It was in the middle of this that Millu spied a glimpse of someone entering one of the ships, but she was pretty sure that they weren't one of the knights. They weren't supposed to be here yet, after all. It was suspicious, so the girl decided to follow the strange person. As she stepped into the massive starship, Millu had a feeling that this wasn't the best course of action, but she still went foward. If this person wasn't supposed to be there, she had to take them out of the ship, preferably before the Knights got here.

And so the girl started wondering around, trying to imagine where a random person would be attracted to going inside a starship. At one moment though, after much wandering of both body and mind, Millu realized she was lost. It had been about ten minutes and the Knights Obsidian would be here at any minute now. She'd get in serious trouble.

Almost panicking, Millu started prancing around the halls, just entering anywhere that looked like it might get her out of here. One of these places turned out to be some cabin, maybe for crew members who had to sleep during long trips. Inside the room though, the girl seemed to actually find who she had been looking for in the first place: a brown-haired girl with beautiful blue eyes that was a little smaller than her in stature. She had seen her around, she was a new student, just like Millu.

"I've seen you before, you're new here like me, right? We kind of have to get out of here fast, I've heard the Knights have a mission and they should be coming any time now!"

P.S. Millu and Bugsy have sucessfully infiltrated the Unyealding Visage (Voph's ship) a few minutes before everyone got there. Now they are inside and can't get out because the ship is already in the air...

Fleet Marshal Tyrias Aran watched and listened to reports of the vessels launched from the ship's hangers. Evidently the enemy stronghold had a stronger defense than the initial briefing had indicated. Prudent of the enemy to have kept those inert until needed. However, it appeared either a lack of proper maintenance or familiarity with the weapon had significantly reduced the accuracy of their barrage. The Dauntless drop craft appeared more or less intact in transit. Likely battered for their effort, but they seemed to pride themselves on their fortitude.

The majority of her attention was with the rest of the fleet, however. Having dropped into low orbit around Kaddak, Tyrias risked slipping into a death spiral over the planet upon arrival, but had avoided the snare the bulk of the fleet found themselves in. At least for the moment.

"Commander, have all fighter wings on full alert standby. Have batteries open fire on any enemy vessel that turn to pursue the Unyielding Visage." The Knights Obsidian appeared as eager as the Dauntless in this matter. They, however, chose to cut through the enemy line -- though the enemy would advance that line in short order themselves. Tyrias wasn't above covering their approach. Far as she was concerned a 'friendly' rivalry between branches was conducive to accomplishing a mission. Clouded whispers over tactically egregious circumstances such as Shadow's Point, however, did not.

"Grand Marshal Terrik's ship has...landed, Fleet Marshal. Dauntless are on the ground."

The Chiss gave a single nod of her head at the news. "Excellent. Now, if you will be so kind as to inform the pirates on the planet below they should surrender by targeting their turrets." Time to give the enemy below something else to occupy their attention while the Dauntless sought to advance. It would have to be one, perhaps two barrages at the most, however. An orbital bombardment lost its tactical value the moment you couldn't be certain where allied units were relative to primary and secondary damage sites. Tyrias was confident in the ground troops' ability to accomplish their aims. Meanwhile, the rest of the fleet could make sure of her additional vessels.

Bugsy had always been an inquisitive sort and that often got her into some, well, interesting situations. This time was no different….

Not long ago Bugsy had met a stunning Twi’lek by the name of Zlova Rue in an alley on Nar Shadda and had somehow ended up on an entirely different planet that was home to what seemed to be known as the Knights Obsidian. The planet of Geonosis was now Bugsy’s home. She had so many nice things and was meeting so many new people! She felt like royalty! But that did nothing to diminish the girl’s curiosity. If anything, it only added fuel to her fire.

Today Bugsy was hanging about in one of the hangers, completely unaware that a plethora of soldiers were about to converge on the area. Before her encounter with Rue, Bugsy had never seen a ship up close. She had only heard them off in the distance but had no idea what they were. These things were fascinating! As she moseyed about, one specific ship captured her attention.

This ship was massive; the largest Bugsy had ever seen! It was dark and illustrious, and she couldn’t help but want to see inside it. Her innocent but oh so curious nature soon had her waltzing right onto the ship and into what seemed to be sleeping quarters of some kind, not unlike her own back in the—barracks?

Since coming to the school, Bugsy had been learning many things, about herself and the things she could apparently do. One of the skills she had learned could be of use, was called Force Sight. She didn’t completely understand it, but she did know that if she concentrated, she could see more than just blurry shapes of colors through her glasses. She channeled her efforts in kind to better appreciate the magnificent giant she had just boarded.

So enthralled with the interior of the beautiful ship, Bugsy missed the announcement that Knights were boarding and the ship would soon depart for Kaddak. Suddenly, she heard a voice behind her. Before Bugsy could respond, however, the floor began to vibrate as the thrusters were ignited and the ship began to move. What in the gods’ names had she just gotten herself into now?

The ship shook, rattled, and rolled as they plunged toward the surface of the planet below. Strapped in along with the rest of her squad, Tiria's body was cast side to side like any other. What each commando thought, hidden within the confines of their helmet, was their own to bear. No flicker of doubt, concern, or abject terror could be seen through their helmet or the darkened visor. As a body of men and women that did not possess Force Sensitivity none could 'feel' or know the emotions or the thoughts of others. There were no current belying the tension or the prayers for their safe arrival, which would only herald new dangerous of another kind. To each of them, they were alone. The scathing rebuke of atmo and the quake of blasts that grazed their shields stirred up a deafening roar that could silence the voice of one's own god. Not a soul would brave their commlink either in that moment lest a forty-five degree twist to one side cause their voice to brake as the mask slipped in that fraction of second -- one where the mind quietly, and fearlly, asked the question they were trained never to voice.

Tiria watched the troops through her visor as they fell. Watched them for signs that they were for any reason unable to handle the stress of their profession. How many times could a person endure this? It was a question with no good answer. Some broke their first time. Others could go a lifetime and at least show no apparent ill-effect. If they were shaken by the descent then they had best be left at the landing site; one with their head clouded by fear had no place in tight quarters where allies could easily be mistaken for shadowy hostile figures. Confident as each squad leader was in their people, Tiria would not arrogantly presume every commando was robotic or held the mental buffer of a Hive mind to still the rush of adrenaline and the assault of questions with no good answers. They were people, and they were being asked to do some damned insane things.

When the lights went red, their commander called out with a steady voice even as they ship bucked, "Thirty seconds. Gomez, Falleal, Hendrickson, phalanx point. Jhael, Kymber, wings. The rest double time it behind them."

The nose of the ship pulled back hard as they made a rapid landing in a clear enough site. With the turrets pounding at them a graceful and ever so gentle landing had been a tactical impossibility. Even now the ship was in peril the longer is sat in the open. "Move," Colonel Reinhart's voice boomed as the light went green and the ramp dropped.

Three commandos ignited energy shields and forged ahead in a tight group. Two more surged after to widen the shield barrier to cut down on massive bolts of energy 'grazing' those that followed. They'd get enough near-death shots soon enough. Tiria herself followed behind the front line with her hands on the shoulders of a commando on either side. Fortunately the twin blasts did not strike them head on as they hauled ass over the open ground; but if it did, she'd lend them whatever strength she could so they weren't scattered like dust in the wind.

When they slammed up against the wall, Reinhart pointed and gestured for those hauling the generators to get them in place and operational.

She toggled the commlink once more, "Alpha, ready." Time to see how the Grand Marshal wanted to do this. Breach? Cut their way in? Try to slice their way through an airlock? Faster they got inside, the better. Before the pirates decided to demonstrate any "interesting" ordinance they'd managed to acquire.

The Ranc Gang's goons rushed alongside the giant soldier. As he moved down towards the few surface doors installed near the bottom of the crashed ship, such that the gang could access it easily from Kaddak, the cybernetics on his head moved, revealing four more glowing red photoreceptors and other sensors. His vision turned red, his senses were kicked to eleven -- Krek was ready to kill.

"Kriffing Confederacy. They're here to take our slaves... we're done for," one of the gangsters passing him said.

Krek stopped in his tracks. There was an idea here... think, think... he stood still for several seconds until suddenly a great realization dawned on him. Despite the red of his vision and the chatter from his surroundings, his mind felt cleared and elevated. Most days, Krek would have been eager for a fight; but the chatter from the gang and the updates from his sensors made it clear that the chance of victory was low. Still, with this little idea of his, a Confederate retreat was not out of the question, assuming that they cared for the lives of the galaxy's 'innocent'.

While the Dauntless rested just outside the ruined Mon Calamari cruiser, pondering what to do next, the way to their target seemed to open for them. A sealed door, raised slightly above the surface, slid open -- to reveal a disheveled little girl, unconscious, wearing tattered clothes, clutching on a little Loth-cat plushie as if her life depended on it. Her life did not depend on that. It depended on the resolve of the soldiers outside.

The girl was being held up by a single leathery hand. Just past her head was the intimidating primary 'eye' of the Twon Ketee soldier, along with a large blaster pistol held by his other, lower arm, pointed at the little girl's head. In his other two hands he held his enormous two-barrel assault cannon, which swept threateningly at the besieging force, but did not fire. For a moment there was silence as he allowed the Confederacy to see his prisoner.

His vocabulator warbled to life, loud enough for most of the soldiers outside to hear. "Inside this ship there are currently six-thousand seven hundred and forty-two slaves. You will leave, now. Remove all of your forces from this planet, or we will begin executing them. Starting with this one." He shook the little girl, who stirred to consciousness, and immediately began to cry out and struggle. The Twon Ketee's grip did not waver.

Weakness. Lack of conviction. Krek would sacrifice any number of lives for just the one that he cared about. The rest, here, were fools. The giant's photoreceptors were emotionless. He was prepared to kill all of them if necessary.
