SJO Dom of Surron Hex: Run away with the Circus

Location: Near carnival games
Objective: Two, Greatest Showman
With: SJO Younglings, [member="Kat Decoria"], [member="Saeria Aldan-Keth"]

Celeste couldn't help but chuckle, the younglings were having quite a good time, weren't they? Her son tugged her sleeve. Brows lofted slightly, she looked to Atticus in time to see him pointing at bags of cotton candy. The spun sugar was a dreamy shade of blue and it did look rather tempting.

“Oh, alright.” She said, unable to be stern here at the carnival. “We'll all share.”

After waiting in the queue, she came away with three bags of cotton candy and a small bag of popcorn each for the younglings. She glanced around, spotting the circus tent at once. She moved up to the front of the group to do yet another headcount. Celeste was pleased to see that Kat and her crew seemed to be getting on well, a sight that made her smile grow.

“Everyone! It is just about time for the circus show. Please follow me, we have a section of seats reserved, so that we can all sit together. This way!” Celeste called.

And on they went, moving towards the largest tent.

There were all sorts of colorful characters waiting to greet them at the entrance, including the dashing ringmaster himself. A couple of cheerful clowns juggled, a lovely acrobat posed on the tips of her toes, and a person costumed like a bear was dancing about.

The ringmaster motioned towards the Silver section of the seats, inviting the group inside when they were ready. “The show starts in ten minutes!”

Walking now towards the main tent, the Kethborn smiled, “Echani traditionally read the most information from motion, so unless the clue is in motion, or there is evidence thereof,” he showed him the people moving about “then I don’t always spot it.” Taiden seemed to judge every step appropriately before he took it. His body language one of being incredibly alert for clues in the surrounding area.

Entering inside the atmosphere was high, charged even. He still moved through the crowds like an artist would, each step taking in him in time with them. Not moving too far ahead of Jasper, just giving enough room to make a space for him too. There were a collection of droids just inside the tent which caught his eye, but none of them looked orange hmm. Cleverly there were droids inside the droids, but Taiden couldn’t spot that quirky detail at first, instead, he looked around for a more obvious clue. Also, he spotted a lot of actual signs dotted about. He wasn’t aware that any of them had yellow on the back, taking them at face value as he often might.

It wasn’t until he saw one of the droids moving oddly that he realized it was carrying too much weight. Rather than give the game away, he asked Jasper instead what he thought. “Do you see anything out place?” He could simply tell his companion about the droid, but he wanted to see what Jasper thought first, about any of this. There was no point spoiling all the fun, could Jasper see any other items himself cleverly hidden away?

It wasn't often Jairdain was given the opportunity to stay away from Commenor for long. One was given to her and she brought her son Marcus with her. A chance to visit a carnival and this would be one of the first times he would be able to meet some of those she called friends.

This was almost a spur of the moment decision on her part so she had not been able to message anybody. While she knew they would run into some people, she didn't know just who it would be. She expected her friends to already have parties they were with or at least one other person.

Walking down off the transport that brought her here, she carried Marcus on her hip. The sounds in front of him drew his attention and he turned his head to face it. There was something haunting about his gaze though. It was just as blind as the one she had.

Marcus had yet to develop any Force Sight and still stumbled around blindly as any human child would. Only in places that he was familiar with did he move with any confidence. Attempting to put him into a stroller wasn't too difficult for Jairdain and she allowed him to sit up. Pushing him in front of her, she started to make her way through the crowd.

She moved slowly to allow the atmosphere to sink in and gauge how things were going to be. So far everything was safe and Sage peered out at everything from a pocket in her shirt. The small wolf gave her eyes to see through and Jairdain did not miss this opportunity.

The Force flowed through her and she followed where it was leading her. It brought her to be near to Yuroic and she stopped to watch him through Sage's eyes as he juggled. Smiling at the antics, she was unaware of almost anything else. Taking a breath after a few minutes, she wasn't sure if she should approach him or allow him to continue with his solo performance.

Keeping her mouth shut, she was afraid to open it. Concerned about what might come out if she did. He knew well enough how she still felt for him, but he no longer felt the same way. Jairdain had accepted that, but deep down her love would never go away.

Ra had turned into a little encyclopedia of animals since Josh had given her that book for Life Day. Now it would be time for her to show off some of what she had learned.

As they approached the merry go round, she pointed at the animals she was familiar with. Some of them still eluded her.

"Well, that was a crystal fox. I'm pretty sure even you guys can recognise the porg going around. Hum, that was there I think is a Loth cat. There are just so many, even I don't know all the animals around. Oh, look there's even a tauntaun!"

Getting into the line, she pointed out another couple of animals she knew. Looks down at Jason she smiled at the expression on his face. Holding both of their hands still, she gave Josh's a gentle squeeze and winked slightly.

"Thank you for that book. It helped today."

Ugohr Poof

The Traveling Gungan Salesman
Objective: Candy stall
Nearby: [member="Sky'ito Yumi"] [member="Wu Yeoh-Mei"]

With Saeria playing somewhere else near the candy stall, it was time for Sukai to see who sold it babysitter the candy Sukai was eating. Since Gungans were rarely seen away from the Naboo system and, to a lesser extent, the Dagobah system, it was natural for the carnival-goers to assume he was some sort of curiosity. As were the Squibs manning the kitchen equipment, with Squib chocolate being one of those easy-to-sell items. Some of them wanted the Royal Edition, the one that was served at the Polyanarchy's court on Skor, because it was low in fat (and especially trans fat)... and the guest right in front of Sukai in the waiting line just bought two bars of the Royal Edition. Not that Ugohr drew the other candy stalls out of business by any means; in fact, the others stayed afloat because they had shorter waiting lines, thanks to their staff not being treated as curiosities by carnival-goers. Once Sukai does in fact arrive... he could feel that Sukai was looking at him as if he was a curiosity, as had a number of guests that were served before that person.

"Yousa want some Squib chocolate? Caramel apples? Or yousa want cotton candy or popcorn?"

Diva Brigitte

Peeking her head out, she saw that the Ringmaster had gone out to greet guests. The show would be starting very soon. There wasn't a better chance than now. Smoldering anger, jealousy, and envy were her companions as she stepped out backstage. Her makeup was running now, black eyeliner dripping down her cheeks in quite a mess. The Diva's hat sat precariously atop her curls, a long pink feather bobbed gently as she stomped about.

She drew a few curious stares from some of the other performers, but they knew better than to get in Brigitte's way, especially when she was like this.

Her hand behind her back, holding the sharp letter opener next to the ruffles of her dress, she made for the star's dressing room. Inside, Lady Avery was dressed in finery, a lovely gown and pale stage makeup. She was humming in front of a mirror, admiring her outfit from multiple angles.

Brigitte paused outside, peering into the doorway, eyes set and narrow.

It was... showtime.

Walking Weapons Platform
Objective: 2, One small step for Houk
Location: Around the Carnival

Houks were there. Being Houks. Looking Big. Eating a lot and generally having a damn good time. Three of them, if one wasn’t enough and one Houk was never enough. They’d just got a new unit commission in the pipeline and Vertigo was enjoying some much-needed downtime from paperwork.

Yeah, Houks did paperwork.

Not well.

Eating plenty, trying not to step on the kiddies, and also hitting a mallet against a block of metal in a test of strength. To be fair they all got the bell to ring, but Vertigo actually broke it. After some grumbling and several credits being left to pay for damages, the Trio continued their rounds.

They ate. They drank and they had plenty of fun in the games. Not like you'd get back home, here everyone got to keep their teeth and they got free grub. A couple of the younglings were on their shoulders by the end of it, getting a good view of the crowds, buying what treats they could get their hands on from passing stalls and everyone eating far too much. Eventually, they reached the main tent, in time to get a good look at what was about to happen for the main event.

Alongside acrobats, a clown performance, light shows and a marching band. An Ewok diving to catch a fish was to be one of the acts. While the other two Houks were debating whether fish were in the carnival tent, Vertigo had wandered off to find himself a Wookiee to arm wrestle. To settle that debate once and for all. Maybe a campfire to sit by, and songs to sing of back home. The night was young, there was plenty more grub to enjoy and sights to see.

Juggling became slightly stylish as he added some flare to his actions as he gained more confidence with the juggling. He was still far from being as impressive as the professionals who were walking around while they juggled and entertained strangers. Yuroic was keeping his full attnetion on the juggling. He felt a familiar presence walk towards him, he smiled and didn't even glance her way. "Hey Jairdain, what brings you here to the carnival?" Yuroic asked as he gave a lot of force behind one throw, sending it high in the air, giving him time to look over to her. That's when he saw the stroller.

At first, Yuroic thought it might be from the babysitting duty that a lot of the Silver Jedi had volunteered for, Yuroic was tempted till he realised he wasn't exactly great around children. However, more he studied the toddler he noticed similarities to Jairdain. There was the blindness which was an obvious thing to notice but the hair colour and minor facial features that looked similar to Jairdain. This was when the ball hit the ground in a hard thump, quite literally. A panic crossed his mind as he tried to remember when Jairdain decided to end things between them, or he should be attempting to timeline when they were last intimate. The child looked three and Yuroic couldn't help but think it was possible, he wasn't sure, things had gotten blurry right that second.

"Jairdain. Urm..." Yuroic paused." Jairdain. Is he mine?" Was all he asked.

Rose appeared to be in her element, taking hands of both the youngest two to stop the fighting, she wandered with them to where Master Rigel informed the show would be held. Kat watched her sister get all excited and enjoying herself with the two little children. She smiled, wondering if her sister was having twins or just the one child, she was beginning to look big enough for two children though woe betide anyone who told her she was looking quite large. While Rose could look and was gentle most the time, the pregnancy had released an inner demon that was now close to the surface if she got too close.

Deciding to roundup the second group, Kat counted the heads, there seemed to be everyone minus the two that Rose had. Although she seemed to be one short. Then she noticed one of the children had gone off and decided to join in with the acrobats. Rushing off she caught the child as they nearly slipped. "Right trouble, you get to stick with me." Kat stated with a smirk, she would have been like that at that age if she had had her own legs. "Be careful, they have trained for years to be able to do that bendy stuff, can hurt if you don't learn properly." Kat informed the child as she reached her group and walked them to Master Rigel.

"All accounted for, two headed off into the tent with my sister, sorry, there was no stopping her when she got excited." Kat explained as she looked to the Master.

THE CARNIVAL WENT DARK
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pv0hlbWpa1w
For your muse.

A hoverchair sat in the corner of the tent, matted leafy hair obscuring the woman’s face. She was dressed in rags, and her yellow hoverchair looked worn like it had seen one too many bad days out in the rain, because it often did. There was a spotlight on her chair, floating now to a simple microphone.

A single musician playing an old broken instrument in the corner alongside her smiled, his suit full of holes but happy as could be. He bowed and they began.

“As our world pales and sputters,
Let none dance alone.
For tomorrow, brings comfort of great memories past.
Tonight Tonight just dance, no matter what may come.”

“Lay cares at the door, and pull up a chair,
Warm place for the old or young.
Places to spare,
Each of you bringing our carnival a new chair.”

The musician in his old hat and patchy suit began a solo.
Not a credit to his name. Glade almost smiled beneath her bundles of hair. They had this song.

"Darkest days when there is no love to pass.
Look to your right and to your left
Not alone, Not alone.
No matter how far you’ve gone,

No matter how far you’ll go."

"You’ll always have our carnival.
And each other’s to share.
Doesn’t stop here, Doesn’t stop there.
Their music plays with you.
No matter where."

The singer stopped and her light went out, to leave Glade’s performance in darkness.
The musician didn’t stop, playing the tune as she’d said they would, even though there was no light, no sign of anyone now. Just the music.

Out of the darkness her voice ended, and all the lights went on.

A spotlight for everyone who was in the tent.

"Don't waste a second with them," Glade whispered and then floated away in darkness.

Celeste nodded to Kat, “Very good!” She said. Truly, she couldn't blame the others for being excited. The bright lights, the music, and the performers made it a spectacular display. Before they could enter, she spotted one of the refugee matrons making her way over – with two large groups of children in tow.

“Ah, yes...” She smiled, “Here they come. Well, then... we've a bit more work ahead of us.” Celeste looked to Kat, giving her an encouraging yet slightly apologetic smile. “We'll need to keep an eye on the orphans as well.”

The matron bowed to them and drew the children forward to greet the Silver Jedi members. There was quite an age range, there were a few rowdy toddlers, some school aged children, and just a couple of teens. All of these kids had been through a lot, Celeste heart ached for the lot of them. She wished that she could give them much, much more than this, a simple day at the circus... but laughter was a very good medicine.

Even if this day could not solve their problems, it could lift their spirits. And, Celeste made a silent note to speak to the matron privately after the show. Surely there was more the Silver Services Corps could do to make life easier for these young ones.

“Right, then.” She said, stepping aside to let the group through. “Go in and find a seat, our section is just to the right.”

Celeste passed along some snacks as the group entered, she now found herself wishing that she'd bought a bit more. However, the ringmaster stepped over, offering her a dashing smile. “We'll send 'round the snack cart – free of charge, of course.”

“That is quite generous, thank you.” Celeste responded with a smile, moving inside to take a seat next to her son. There was music drifting their way, and a few gasps of excitement escaped the children.

Their eyes were drawn up by movement, a pair was swinging above them! Goodness!

The two Yumi siblings accepted the tickets produced by their master, Akari holding the piece of paper up in the air, treating it like some sort of divine object worth worship. "Oh magical paper, grant me the ability to see all the wonderful things this place has to offer... elder sister, I command you to put me on your shoulders so I can elevate this holy object higher"! She gave a cute commanding pout to Sukai, earning a small sight, the elder sibling bending down, letting her small almost clone looking sister hop on. "Whoopieeee"!! "Perhaps we should put Akari in the show herself, I don't think many people would have seen such a hyperactive child in the entire galaxy", Sukai joked to Wu as they made their way towards the tent.

Wu was looking at Sukai as she said it and the suggestion... well Sukai wasn't wrong.. there wasn't likely to be many if any that could match her. Akari was like pure energy with hair and a voice.... usualy whe she managed to tire herself out she was out like a light.... but until then it was a question of lasting and being able to keep up with her as Wu smiled putting a hand in Akari's hair as she reached up on her tippy toes. "Perhaps... it would attract many." As she looked at the great and holy object the ticket letting them go in and see the show that was starting... animals, displays of their different talents and skills. "Just lets hope for no clowns sadly they can always manage to be strange and kind of creepy."

“Interesting…” Jasper's voice trailed off as he enters the tent with Taiden Keth. He looked around the area with a look of interest. He was distracted by what he was seeing inside the tent and wondered if it was going to be more difficult than he had expected. Granted he knew that the people who hosted the scavenger hunt wanted to challenge the participants and he honestly wanted that. He wanted to challenge his mind, but he didn’t want the challenge to be impossible. He knew however that the host of the hunt wouldn’t make it too hard so he looked around the area to see if he could find anything.

He looked at the droids just as Keth asked about them. Jasper quickly thought the item they were looking for was there. He figured Keth found the item he was looking for and wanted to test him. This made Jasper worried.

He knew it was risky working with a person he didn’t know in the form of Keth but decided to work with him in good faith. He looked over to the droids and closely examined each one of them. If took a few minutes, but he soon found the droid that looked “off”. The teen had a hunch that the item was there, but he considered not telling him about the droid and acted like he didn’t know to avoid giving away anything about him. After a few seconds, he said: “That droid right there.” He pointed over to the droid, thinking that he didn’t give away anything about him since he felt he took enough time to make it look like he had flaws.

The Wolf's eyes and gaze followed the ball into the air and then back down to the ground. Jairdain, however, had closed him off and was focused on Yuroic only. Anything around them went on, but right now she felt as if it was just the three of them on an island while water flowed around them.

She felt the puzzlement and panic come off of him and it helped bring her back to where they were. Shaking her head just slightly to clear away that island feeling, when it was then she heard him ask his question. Continuing to shake her head, it was different and in answer to him.

"No, this is Marcus Ismet-Ku and the son of Bradshaw. The prince I was the advisor for on Commenor. There was a time when we both went away for training. I tried to turn him into the prince he was meant to be and I think I failed. He disappeared before the sith attack so I guess that is a good thing, but he hasn't returned and doesn't know about Marcus. I kept him secret."

Pushing Marcus forward a little, she stepped out of the way of anybody that wanted to get past. Hopefully, her answer helped set his fears or concerns to rest.

"You're the first person within the Order to meet him."

Yuroic nodded his head stiffly. Seemed her relationship was deeper than he had feared with the Prince. While he was never sure how he felt about relationships in general anymore, he knew he still loved Jairdain, she was a constant in his life when there were few constants. However, this toddler was proof that she had moved on, that she fell for another man that wasn't him. While he wasn't sure if he was ready for a child, he couldn't help but feel a little jealous of the Prince. Yuroic shook his head and cleared his mind, being jealous would not help anything and only serve to make things more awkward between him and Jairdain.

He lowered to one knee and smiled as he stroked the toddler's cheek gently. "He is a very handsome young man. There is a lot of you in him, I can tell." He rose to his full height. "It is an honour to be the first to meet him." Yuroic stated with a warm smile crossed on his face. "Does this make you royalty now? I mean, he must be a prince and he is yours so doesn't that make you princess or something?" He joked as he displayed he full lack of knowledge on monarchies.
