[SJO] Crystal Hunt

Never Underestimate a Good Bottle of Whiskey
Jerit hopped onto the exit ramp right when his Master had said the word that they would be leaving. He speed walked down the halls and into the pilot and copilot seating. There, he sat and spun the copilot chair and then focused. He checked everything on his side to make sure the ship was fully operation to take off.

"Everything seems to be alright, Master."

Jerit stared out the window. He was thinking of those crystals still. If he could get his hands on one, he could build his own lightsaber. That left him wondering if the boy should confront his past and travel to Lothal after. It pained him to think about it. Visiting his parents' graves. Looking at the house. The padawan let in a deep breath of air and out. He looked at his Master.

"Just some last minute anxiety about flying.. heh.. heh.."

Oh Ashla, that sounded so dumb. It was written all over his face and in his inside what was going on. He just hope Jyoti would not notice.

Viathae Qarmast

Mandalorian Exile Jedi of Clan Qarmast
[member="Jyoti Nooran"] and all the Silvers involved (I'm not fond of mass tagging).

It's quite pleasant to have joined the Silvers once more into one of their expeditions. Viathae hoped that she could at least be of some use. She went inside with the others and sat in the lounge. It's pretty interesting to note how the Silvers had all of this. It was pretty good that the Jedi are still funded quite well, and aren't poor as she would probably be expecting them to be. But to find these crystals was going to be slightly challenging. She didn't really knew much about them, other than maybe just seeing them at one time or something. She couldn't remember, but they sound quite important... Hm. The people who were coming along were quite interesting too. Hopefully, co-operation could help them get through all of this.

A sizeable team had assembled, apparently more than Master Nooran had anticipated. But that did not deter the Echani Jedi, who simply directed the group to the larger transport. Pash joined the others in the Tumbleweed's lounge. The Matukai warrior was beginning to know faces. Many of the padawans and apprentices he recognized... Jerit, Zavii , Asaraa, the Yumi's. And of course Master Dragonsflame. He nodded in honor to the veteran Jedi bladesman, who he had seen before, but as of yet had not met. He was a notable addition to the jaunt across Kashyyyk. The young man sitting on the floor seemed to desire to be left alone.

Pash found his way between the most unusual of the party, the beast-like Shistavanen and the curious woman clad in Mandalorian armor. They made his non-Jedi appearance seem less noticeable, he joked to himself.

Pash slipped his pack off of his shoulder and dug into a pocket. He retrieved a strip of something that looked like tree bark, but it smelled of spice and meat. He offered it to the fur-covered Shistavanen. "Derlac jerky...I heard you might get hunger on the ride." Turning to include the Mandalorian, he continued. "Pash Tafo." He offered, with a slight bow of his head to both. His blue gaze met the feral red of the Shistavanen's eyes, then shifted to the visor slit of the Mandalorian helmet. Both were next to impossible to read.

Zavii sat back, slouching a little just because she enjoyed the booth seat, and watched the others board the ship. As surprised as she was to see the large, furry alien in the group, she almost jerked upright at the sight of a Mandalorian walking aboard the Tumbleweed, but nobody else seemed to mind and the armored woman didn't seem to want trouble. In fact, she resonated with the Force at least as much as the pike-wielding Pash Tafo did. Apparently the Silver Jedi didn't bar people based on their backgrounds. The thought made her feel proud to call herself one of them. When Tafo actually sat between the two new members and introduced himself, she let out a little chuckle. "You're always trying to butter someone up, aren't you, Pash?"

Jyoti Nooran said:
The first to arrive for the trip was a Shistavanen she had never met before. Quite remarkable in stature, much taller than what was the norm for their race.

It was a surprise having a giant canine as part of the group, but the Echani wasn't intimidated by the presence of the fierce looking canine, having made a career fighting all kinds of nasty things that made the Shistavanen look like a gentle pup.

Vaashe came next, the very Padawan she had worked with in arranging the expedition.

"Right on time," she replied with a smile. "Even if you weren't, there's no leaving without you."

In a quick span, more people would show up, including her own apprentice Jerit. Mostly initiates new to the order, but there was Knight Qarmast in her distinctive Mandalorian Armor, Josh, and Mr. Tafo the Matukai warrior.

There was a diverse crowd gathered, and a large one at that. Larger than the small shuttle could comfortably seat.

"Good morning," she said, addressing everyone at once. "Thank you all for joining today me on this expedition. This is a much larger group than I expected...so it looks like we'll have to make a transfer."

She glanced over at the Tumbleweed off to her right.

"Everyone hop in and make yourselves comfortable in the lounge. Jerit, could please join me in the cockpit?"

This time, she was flying, with her apprentice playing copilot.

Once inside, she started running through a truncated pre-flight check list, wirelessly communing with the shipboard AI as she did. The old freighter was a patchwork of aftermarket parts added by a number of owners over the years, making such a check up for compatibility necessary before each flight.

The Jedi Master would smile a bit at the light nostalgia he felt at the sight of the Shistavanen. He did miss Naila, though she had been gone a long, long time. He did hope she was doing alright, truly. What would she think, seeing him now, all grown up, a Master... Oh wait, she'd met him when he was a Master then he helped her get Knighted... Uhh.... Chit. He didn't know if he'd changed all that much besides growing his hair out and growing a beard. Maybe she'd like that he was hairier? He didn't know.

More Jedi would show up, though he remained quiet. What could he say in this instance? The other Master had this covered. So when the command was given to hop onto the ship and head into the lounge, he just quietly made his way in, the droid silently walking behind him.

She ran through checklists with Jerit as the party began to board. Her Padawan was helpful and attentive as always, but she could feel something off about him today. He gave a rather unconvincing excuse to throw her off.

"If you're worried about my flying, then good. You should be."

She gave him a devious grin as she worked the controls. Of course, she was joking. Her teasing indirect way trying to get Jerit to spill. Not wanting to come off as overbearing, she wouldn't start grilling him at the first sign of trouble.

"Last call," she said to the party party over intercom. "Ten more minutes before liftoff."

While she gave everyone a few more minutes to board, she called ahead to her Wookiee guide to inform them of her impending arrival and change in transportation.

Ten minutes passed, and it was time to go.

Deftly working the controls, she edged the freighter of the hangar, then shot straight up into nto the air for a near vertical climb. Things would be flying all around the ship from the rapid ascent if not for the inertial compensators and artificial gravity.

Once she was above the mountain range, she leveled out and turned towards Kachirho.

The flight was short, only about 20 minutes from the Silver Rest. Near the city, she began a slow decent towards one of the large wooden platforms where their guide Qushk would be waiting. About a half a klick out, she could make him out of while on approach, standing next to a crate.

After they landed, she lowered the ramp for the wookiee to enter, then unbuckled from her seat to meet him in the lounge.

He entered the lounge right after she did, lugging that plasteel crate she had saw on the platform earlier. He growled softly in greeting, Jyoti smiling back in response, able to at least understand Shyriiwook. (She wouldn't embarrass herself trying to speak it aloud.)

"Everyone, this is Qushk. He'll be the one guiding us through a Kinrath hive today."

He nodded, moving to set the crate on an empty counter. He spoke again, asking it if it was fine to slide open the crate, filled with Kinrath sweat glands.

"That's fine, go ahead. Um, guys, get ready, it's about to get a little whiffy in here."

Sure enough, just as soon as he cracked open the crate, a peculiar musky odor of sweat glands would waft out of the crate, making her wriggle her nose.

He lifted a few glands out of the crate, then waved over everyone to come close with a growl. To best navigate through the hive, everyone would need one of the extracted sweat glands to mark themselves as non threatening to the Kinrath when they passed through the hive.

For a long moment, Asaraa stared at the cockpit, her blue eyes weighing up the doorway. Part of her wanted to walk through, to join Jerit and Jyoti in the cockpit but, well that was their thing, their place. As much as she wanted to see the view from the cockpit it wasn't right for her to impinge upon the moment between the Master and her student. A small smile touched the young woman's face as she shook her head, padding across the floor to the nearest window seat. It wasn't quite the large window of the cockpit but at least she'd have a view of what they were flying over. Reaching for her straps the Padawan secured her harness, pressing her forehead against the transparisteel window as her blue eyes peered out at the forest.

She looked at the food that was offered and bowed her head taking it. "Thank you." She questioned it but wasn't against it when they were moving in the ship now. Her eyes flicking around to look at the others and she distracted herself from the scent of human and the people with the scent of food. Something that she could have in her nose. She could see a few of the others and stretched herself out in a seat seeing some of th others who she didn't know, the small equipment pack for herself there on her hip when she finished clipping it there. Fur around the straps and she was eating as the ship started to head out finally. "I am Viri."

Losing is tempoary, giving up is permanent.
The trip was much shorter that Sukai had expected, but then again if there was an area for crystal hunting it would stand to reason it would be within easy reach of the main temple, though it was a little sad as neither her nor Tana had much time to talk with the other members in the lounge room0, 'better luck next time I guess'. Giving her brother a poke Sukai accompanied the others out of the freighter, stepping out in to the jungle atmosphere, the place having a kind of grummy smell to it.

There was not much else to do but wait until Master [member="Jyoti Nooran"] go everything organized, the young Jin merely standing there politely as the woman got together the necessary items for their trip, Kinrath sweat glands. It was very smelly, the wift being intoxicating but it was a very old and well known fact that many beasts used scent and other methods to define friend from foe, probably not having the proper brain capacity to recognize faces and shapes the same was sentient beings could. "It's better then getting killed and I am sure I'll get used to the smell after a bit".

Tana gave his sister a dirty look as she poked him on there arrival at the jungle area, it may have looked like just regular sibling teasing and all but there was actually a more secret meaning behind her action, in a sense Sukai was saying, 'behave yourself or else'. Was it necessary, no, but it had been a very long time since the two had work together in some sort of operation, his sister probably not knowing how much he had changed since joining the Silver Jedi.

Though still a massive flirt and trouble maker Tana had learned that there was a time and place for everything, and now was the time to be serious, the young Jin merely following closely behind his older sister. Not saying anything, not trying anything, just simply waiting, even when the Kinrath glans where unveiled, their stench enveloping the group. Maybe it was a taking what Sukai figuratively said a little to much, but he needed to show here that people were able to change in a short time, for the better 'this will show her'.

"Oh, I am not worried. I am terrified!"

The boy laughed to accommodate the joke. He looked to the controls again to make sure everything was working correctly. He wanted to be sure that he would not mess anything up. He was afraid of what might happened to him if something went wrong. In the back of his mind, the boy always had a small fear of his Master. It mostly came from the first time he met Jyoti. When he was drunk and she showed her skills in combat. It was incredible but at the same time terrifying because inside, he knew that was not her full potential.

As they were flying, Jerit tried to keep control over everything. He would assist in flying but only for a little bit. He knew his master was more than capable of it. After all, the boy was not fighter pilot. Yes, he could pilot his freighter but at a rookie level. Rather, he was more comfortable rather observing her flying than actually partaking in the activity.

As the ship landed on the wooden platform, Jerit was excited to lay eyes on the wookie guide after the trip to the destination was over. He did not really feel like getting out of his seat so he stayed in the cockpit, still monitoring the controls and pressing buttons.

"Hey, I'll stay in the cockpit." He said when his Master exited to greet the guide.

With a few minutes passing, his could hear his master saying to prepare themselves for something a little whiffy. Now Jerit was wanting to come to the lounge now. What did his Master mean by that? In moments notice, he was striding into the lounge meeting with everyone and surely regretted the smell that assaulted his nose. It did not smell that bad but it was totally unpleasant.

"Oh my Ashla!" Jerit screeched while covering his nose with his hand.

It was definitely a putrid smell. But, Jerit wanted those crystals more so he had to endure the odor.

Pash laughed at Zavii's teasing, flashing the violet-eyed Zabrak a broad smile. "It doesn't hurt to make friends like these." He joked as Viri accepted the meat snack. The Matukai nodded to the tall, furred padawan, "Nice to meet you Viri." Pash replied.

The team remained subdued, under the quiet and watchful eye of Master Dragonsflame. The ship cleared the hanger and sped off over the canopy of giant wroshyr trees. They were not in the air long before a Wookiee city appeared out the view ports. Pash felt the craft settle on a landing pad, and the entry ramp hissed open.

Master Nooran joined them in the lounge as a Wookiee lumbered up the gangway, toting a crate. Qushk was large, bigger even than Viri. he set the container on a table. Pash joined others as they stood, drawing around the large Wookiee as the crate opened.

Jyoti wasn't lying. The things smelled like bantha armpits. Pash laughed as Jerit joined them, the young padawan not shy about voicing his shock at the odor. But Sukai had the right attitude, and he nodded at the Jin apprentice. Better to smell like a Kinrath than to be eaten by one.

Viathae Qarmast

Mandalorian Exile Jedi of Clan Qarmast
The trip was long, and Viathae started to prepare herself, by fixing up her hair to tie it to a bun so she can place on her helmet. Turning on some features to help her see better and to speak, she didn't really spoke a word, and prepared what there is to come. Viathae felt she could indeed by useful out there. Hopefully, things will go well, and nothing bad will happen, which she doubts. If anything does happen though, Viathae indeed could be quite useful, for she has a glove that has many things, much like an army knife. She pressed a few buttons on her glove to make sure that the settings were all working, except of course, for her flamethrower and her dart gun, that had about fifteen rounds.

The Mandalorian followed behind the group glancing forth and noticed the taller wookie that was there... and haar... that smell was seeping into her helmet. It defiantly felt like Wayland again. Kashyyyk is full of surprises, and boy oh boy, wookies was one of them. Ah well, guess you get used to it after a while.

"Fair enough," the Zabraki Padawan grinned back at the man beside the creature who called herself Viri. She watched briefly as the Mandalorian woman double checked some of her equipment, then turned her attention to Asaraa. The Togruta seemed lost in thought, pressing her head to the window. Zavii decided to try and get to know her better on this outing, so she stood up and crossed to gaze out on the forest, resting her hands on the back of Asaraa's seat without touching her head-tales. She had heard somewhere that the protrusions found both on Togruta and Twi'leks actually hosted extensions of their central nervous systems, and could be very sensitive in a myriad of ways.

"How exciting is this?" she asked as they came to a worshyr village and prepared to land. "I can't wait to get one of these Dantari crystals... I'm gonna build another lightsaber and make them into a staff! What are you gonna do with yours?" She hoped that she didn't need to reintroduce herself, having met the other girl a few times before during Padawan-oriented missions and several classes and training sessions throughout the Rest.

When they did land, she took Asaraa by the hand and prepared to tow her out of the ship, practically bubbling with enthusiasm. Before they could leave, though, Master Nooran and a Wookee stepped aboard. "Hi, Qushk!" she waved to the Wookee as he was introduced, then let go of Asaraa's hand.

As soon as the crate was opened, Zavii crinkled her nose and gave a loud "Ssshhhh, wow!" before Qushk explained that they'd need to smell like kinrath to get into their hive. "Well in that case," she glanced at Asaraa and the others, before being the first to step up and pick up a pair of the soft, pungent sacs. With a glance up at Qushk, the Zabrak held the gland over her head, closed her eyes and squeezed it hard enough to splash the juices over herself, soaking it into her hair and clothes and skin. She wiped her face, neck and chest, then wiped her hands onto her pants and shook her head a little, already feeling her heartrate jump as her nostrils burned and she felt herself going into 'hunter mode' as she called it. Her predatory instincts screamed within her and she felt ready to take on a reek, or a hive of kinraths. She picked up another gland in each hand and turned to the group, eyes wild and teeth bared. "C'mon, everyone! Let's get ready to squash some bugs!"

20 minutes... It would do. The Jedi Master would settle down and soon enough, he had fallen into a short sleep, sitting down, with his head leaned against the wall. His head was covered by the hood on his robes, so his eyes would not be seen. The HK droid would silently watch guard, just in case. It wasn't long though, before his head would pick up, and he would gingerly slide the hood off his head. The group would step out, and Josh listened to Jyoti's instructions carefully. He didn't seem to react much to the smell, instead he would hold out a hand for a moment, and the air he breathed became something far more tolerable. Normally this was for dealing with poisonous air, but this was just as bad...

Looking around then, he would peer toward [member="Viathae Qarmast"] who stood beside him. "Nice helmet" He commented casually. "Mandalorian make?"

It was a short ride, much quicker than Kiran would've thought. The Jedi Padawan dozed off for a moment when the shuttle gave small shake in indication of arrival and before you knew it he was on his feet as the time to move had begun. The gland and the smell that was needed to get them safely through the hive while Kiran couldn't smell it at first, it soon became apparent to Kiran as he cleared his throat at first as the smell was quite strong for him.

Kiran breathed out as he glanced around glancing at the wookiee and giving the creature a small wave. The last time he had seen once was back in the Iron Pantheon several months ago. Kiran couldn't help but chuckle and even smile at the reactions and words of the collective group, which in turn made him feel better about this whole thing. However, they still had much to do. The young Jedi's crystal that he found upon his crash landing near the iron Pantheon was lost it was destroyed in his last battle with the Iron Empire and he needed to find a new one as to create his first lightsaber.

She was looking at them and then kinrath glands... her nostrils were assaulted with the smell at first but she was looking at it. To better scent everything else around them. The padawan had a couple of ideas though moving aqround now and seeing some of the others,. These padawans provided a chance to learn from them at least about human mannerisms. She stood up taller then most while letting the gland remain in her hand. THe clumped fur before getting her equipment and setting it on the small compartment to give off the scent so she would be left alone but out of the way to use her hands. TOngue going to her lips as she slid them along her teeth."

Asaraa found herself dragged along in the wake of the excitable Zarak Padawan, he attention pulled away from the view outside of the window and towards the rest of their little expedition. She’d met the Zabrak before, had even fought against her once in training, although at the time hse hadn’t realised that she was quite this energetic. Not that the Togruta minded very much at all, it wa nice sometimes not to have to be the only exuberant one.

“I was planning on…” Whatever she was going to say was lost as Jyoti stated talking, revealing the box and the glands within. For a moment all Asaraa could do was stare at the box in shock, her nose wrinkling as the pungent smell filled the lounge. The Padawan made a small gesture with her hand, levitating one of the glands up out of the box to float in front of her face as she stared at it in disgust. “You know, all of a sudden I’m not entirely sure this is worth it,” she muttered as her blue eyes stared at the floating gland as if it was toxic. Pulling a face the young Togruta took a deep breath, reaching out one finger to hesitantly poke the gland, shuddering at the juice spraying onto her hand. “Oh force, here we go.” Closing her eyes Asaraa squeezed the gland, shuddering as the juices sprayed over her. “How’re you so…positive about this?” came the inevitable question to her friend. “I mean yeah, better stinky than dead but still you’re enjoying this waaaay too much.”

Zavii snickered as she watched the Togruta rethink weather she wanted the crystals enough to get the pheromones on her. "C'mon, Asaraa, don't be such a baby!" Right as she said that, the other girl splashed herself with the bug juices and her face twisted into an expression of revulsion, which just made Zavii laugh more.

"Of course i'm enjoying it," she smiled in a way that was more like baring her pointed teeth, "I'm sZa-brrra-ki! I love the hunt! It's in my blood! 'Ay, ain't Togruta s'posed to be carnivores too?" She had emphasized her people's name in a borderline feral Iridonian accent, which she was starting to take on as the smell of the kinrath permeated the air and she prepared to utilize the skills honed and passed down by her primal ancestors.

[member="Asaraa Vaashe"]

Tana chuckled a bit at [member="Zavii"] and General [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] little engagement with each other, the two accenting like childhood friends or siblings themselves, the Zarbark covering the Togruta in the slimy liquid, similar to a flower that shot water at someone face, just more gross. This did however give the young Jin a rather insidiousness idea himself, one that would probably result in a black eye later on, if caught that is. Using the force Tana make on of the glands seeming to fall out of the crate, catching it before it his the ground with telekinesis, quickly pushing it alone the ground and behind [member="Viri Monn"], 'pop goes the weasel'. Clenching his fist thee gland became squashed under telekinetic power, shooting is musky liquid all over the back o the humanoid wolf, Tana giggling slightly from behind his sister back, who would no doubt know what was happening, 'at least now she does not have to worry about being attacked anymore'.
