[SJO] Crystal Hunt

uInVT1Hl.jpg

Silver Rest, Kashyyyk

A conversation with Padawan Vaashe had brought Jyoti's attention to Dantari crystals. Once a popular choice among Jedi as lightsaber crystals, they eventually fell out of widespread use with the discovery of more powerful Kyber crystals on Illum. However, Dantari crystals were still valuable for their unique ability to recycle Force energy.

Jyoti could think of plenty of means to utilize such a special property, a fact which motivated her to organize a small gathering party to collect Dantari crystals for personal examination.

Traditionally, Dantari crystals had been collected from unhatched Kinrath eggs on Dantooine, but that was a no go area as the planet now sat in the heart of Sith Space. Fortunately, Kinrath were also native to Kashyyyk, the new home of the Silver Jedi, so they were within easy reach.

As the organizer of the expedition she was one of the first to arrive to the hangars of the Silver Rest, prepping a small shuttle for takeoff. The plan was to stop by Kachirho to pick up a local Wookie guide, who could lead them to a local hive, but more importantly help them navigate through it safely. The insectoid race was hostile to all outsiders, so there was a process to follow when trekking through their hives.

Her jaws opened and the sound came out. A massive yawn that showed the saliva slick teeth the young she wolf had. Standing taller then most and with a thick body of black hair that was conditioned and soft to the touch. She was war,.... frak she was hot enough to boil an egg if you needed to. This was was far to hot for her liking and the place cramped.. the ships were cramped with nowhere to run around or game to hunt. Still the chance to get a crystal for her lightsaber, to get everything to construct a lightsaber while she was loking at the construction kit she had gotten. She was all for it and getting out there with the others so she would come along and if needed be the muscle of the group or the intimidating presence... like a wookiee if they had larger claws, teeth and eyes that glowed in the dark almost.

A lightsaber, the Jedi's companion, the weapon that defined them and was as close to them as any partner. Yet, Asaraa had lost hers...well...it wasn't hers but it was the weapon her last master had given her. She'd constructed her own afterwards, a lightsaber all of her own..almost all of her own. She hadn't been able to find the lightsaber crystal of her own, one that called to her. In the end she'd settled for one of the lightsaber cystals made by Sasori, an artificial crystal that produced a silver blade, to honour the Jedi who had taken her in. It just wasn't hers...not in the way that she wanted, that she'd heard of from others.

The Padawan padded into the hanger, peering nervously around the room. She'd heard of the Kinrath, everyone had, and of the crystals they produced. That's what had drawn her here, the idea of that mission to a Kinrath cavern on Kashyyk wouldn't get out of her head. It had haunted her, like a ghost playing around her thoughts, always just there in the back of her head. The Togruta took a deep breath and stepped into the hanger, making her way to the shuttle as she gave Jyoti a small smile. "Looks like I made it in time."

"Hey guys, I- woah!"
Zavii jogged into the hangar and stopped, wide-eyed at the sight of the huge, furry being standing next to the other two women. She had seen Asaraa a couple of days ago and the Togruta had mentioned that she was going out to try and find a new lightsaber crystal. Zavii thought it'd be fun to tag along even though she'd had a her saber for four years already. Besides, there was always the chance that she would need or want to build a new one, and having a crystal ready to go would be a huge time-saver.

The young Zabrak had expected surprises, namely whatever might happen in the kinrath nest, but she hadn't expected to meet a whole new sentient species today, especially not one so physically imposing.

"I'm ready when you are," she said to Asaraa before looking back at the furry creature. "Hi; my name's Zavii. Who're you?"

Jerit had his lightsaber for forever. It was his family legacy all in his hands. He had not been taught to use it until he came to the Temple on Voss. Instead, he always relied on the force. But now he got a proper chance to learn more about the Jedi's weapon. The padawan wore his usual robes and underclothes and strolled into the hangar to meet with his master.

As he walked in, he could not believe what creature he saw. There was a big wolf just standing there! The boy knew not to criticize the force's creations, so he remained open minded. He walked up to his master and greeted her with a bow.

"Hello, Master."

He converted his gaze to Asaraa, the Zabrak female, and the big creature. He gave each a friendly greeting. It was nice to see Asaraa again. He thought about the first time they met at that party with all the drinking. The boy smiled and looked back to his master.

"So, these crystals. Might make another lightsaber out of them. Heard they recycle force power. That's gotta be interesting!"

Jerit grinned. He was excited already just to see these crystals. If he could get his hands on one, he could make another lightsaber and would not have to use his Father's anymore. Maybe he could go back to Lothal after he build his own. He didn't know quite yet.

Losing is tempoary, giving up is permanent.
The Dantari crystal where certainly a good find among lightsabre crystals, in the day before the Sith annexed here home world of Dantooine, Sukai had crafted a light sabre, it properties coming in handy more than once, mainly the ability to calm the user down, preventing Sukai from slipping to the dark side in her old exploration day when coming across Sith and darksiders tempting her to join them was rather common.

Though not having a need for the crystal anymore a nice trip into the jungle sounded fun, and having prior experience in tracking them down may be to some help. In addition, jut adding another body to the expedition would make the whole trip a little safer, well that would depend on how well behaved her brother would be who seemed instant on joining the deep jungle journey, "Are you sure you want to come Tanasuki? the humid and muddy jungle may ruin our makeup". It was not she did not want her brother to tag along, but just having him around gave her a sneaking suspicion something bad would happen.

While awaiting his answer Sukai's eyes scanned the hanger, observing those who had assembled for this trip, most seeming to be Padawan’s, [member="Asaraa Vaashe"] being a decent acquaintance someone she knew well and was glad to have on board, [member="Zavii"] being somewhat familiar, the Zabaraks odd colour pattern being very memorable. [member="Jyoti Nooran"] she knew about from her brother, quite a beauty and graceful, Suki being a bit eager to see the woman in person.

[member="Jerit Kolomor"] being the boy she had meet on the world once while out with her mother... he looked more mature then when they last met, hopefully the whole issue on her being well, not a full Jedi had passed. [member="Viri Monn"] though was new, very new, but unlike the other Sukai did not act surprised, a wolf was kind of a nice change, seemed ironic in some regards, a vampire and wolf like creature in the same room, not trying to kill each other, just something from a silly love novel that was once popular.

[member="Jerit Kolomor"]'s appearance and statement about the mission's quarry snapped Zavii out of staring at the large creature. "Oh, hi, Jerit," she glanced at him before looking at Master [member="Jyoti Nooran"]. "Yeah, i meant to ask about that... what exactly does it mean to "recycle" Force power?"
She noticed another presence enter the hangar at the periphery of her Sphere of Awareness but it didn't seem all that important at the moment, what with all the questions she had about these mysterious Dantari crystals and the strange alien in front of her.

Tanasuki gave a little chuckle to his at his sister comments as they walked to the hanger bay, "Elder sister, surely you jest, I am no stranger to dirty and gritty environment, have you not forgotten? I was an assassin for a short time after leaving home, I have been exposed to more unwelcoming environment then you know of and that make up, that was just a onetime thing for ceremonial purposes, I do not make a habit of wearing it all the time". In addition the young effeminate Jin had left his new Yutaka style Jedi robes aside for today trip, adoring an old sneaking suit which he had worn while on 'assignments' or in combat mission, the flexible nature and materiel making it quite suited for the jungle world.

Upon entering the hanger he too recognized everyone to some minor extent [member="Jyoti Nooran"] the most due to working under her as a shadow Jedi giving her a small wave as the two Yumi siblings approached. Though mister wolf man's presence did not ring a bell of any kind but sparking some manner of curiosity. Tanasuki had never met someone of that race before let alone expect one to be a Jedi initiate of some sort, but then again a many of stranger things had happened in his life, "Hello Mater Nooran its good to see you again but how is everyone today?

She licked her lips seeing more of them and listened more. Ears twitching to follow the conversations or questions. She was uncertain about it but walked standing over pretty much all of them for herself. There were others here she didn't know and mostly people she didn't know while looking down at them and not speaking just yet. Better to let them get comfortable until she was ready to speak and then hoepfully it would be something of value over well just something strange... or confusing. She didn't fully have all of basic down but she had the general jist of it that would look like she was smart compared to some she was certain.. hopefully.

Viathae Qarmast

Mandalorian Exile Jedi of Clan Qarmast
It has been for months, if not years that she had not been with the Silver Order. Since her departure from Voss, Viathae has been out meditating, and living peacefully with Nico on Acht-To, regaining and focusing more on her thoughts, and connecting herself with the force, and finding out more about herself. The Mandalorian Jedi, however, felt that she needed to fulfill a duty, and that duty was to continue her mission to end the chaos. But, her return made Viathae feel like a different person all together. Not as ambitious nor cocky as she was before when she was with the Order.

And now, she was here, once more on Kashyyyk, a planet that she had never been to. Home of the wookie race, and of course, the current home of the Silver Order. What an interesting place. Apparently, the Silvers were doing something here, as if they were looking for something, as she saw there was a few Silvers as she arrived. Once again, donned in her Mandalorian armour, which was now entirely repainted to resemble her allegiance to the New Mandalorians and of course, a symbol of the Jedi, which she is proud of being, lightsaber clipped to her belt, her blaster being on her left side and various of other equipment, including her anti-force user glove, she approached Jyoti and the gathering Jedi that were present as well. She came and bowed. "Master Nooran, I assume. I have come to assist you on your journey to find these crystals in question. I hope I will be of service for you and your compatriots."

Kiran had yet to construct a lightsaber yet and had yet to be properly trained in the ways of the force. Kiran wasn't one to rush things though, he knew good things happened in time. The young man's work came mostly from the Iron Empire, he had worked alongside them as a Iron Legion Auxiliary member and had been in several skirmishes already however he was no battle hardened warrior at the current time. Truth be told he had barely tapped into his potential as a force user and he hoped that would changed in the times ahead.

The Iron Empire was changing indeed and it brought an ache to the heart of the young man, however he tried not to let that get to him too much. With all heartbreak there was something good that could from it. And that is what he tried to do and he would continued to do his best to do. The young man jogged down the pathway as he entered the hangar and made his way towards the shuttle rendezvous point.

"Sorry I'm late. And If I'm not late, then no worries at all." Kiran chuckled lightly as he gave a small wave to those around him. "Hello, I"m Kiran. It will be good to work with you all."

Leaning against the landing strut of a transport across from the shuttle, Pash watched the group gather with growing interest. Several he knew to Jedi learners, either personally or by word of mouth. Eager, he was sure, to find a more readily available Dantari crystal to construct their lightsabers than the lyber crystals on Ilum. Pash had no need of such for his wan shen, but when Master Nooran kindly invited him on the excursion, he was most interested, as much for the opportunity to become better acquainted with the Jedi master and others of the Order as it would be to explore the forests of Kashyyyk.

New to the Jedi traditions, Pash had visited the temple library to learn of the significance of the Dantari crystals, and of the creatures from who's eggs the crystals were derived. It seemed the Dantari crystals had other qualities that could prove a benefit to the Order, should a decent supply be found.

The Adept finally pushed off from the strut and stepped out of the shadow of the ship to make his way towards the team. Pash, dressed in sturdy boots, pants and robes similar to the Jedi in green and white, slung a field pack over his shoulder. The broad machete-like head of the wan-shen was sheathed across his back, the collapsible haft jutting out from it about a foot. Stopping before the others, Pash greeted Jyoti with smile and a small bow, then turned to the others gathered and nodded a greeting to them as well. "Good morning, friends." In turn, his gaze met the Shistavanen, the half-Jin siblings, the Togruta, Jerit, Zavii and a young man he had not seen at Silver Rest. Finally he turned to the Knight, a rank comparable to his own in the Matukai, and offered her a slight bow as well. " Pash Tafo." He added for those whom he had not yet formally met.

It was a diverse team, which Pash saw as a good sign.

Was this the A-Team? He wasn't sure, but he'd take it. These dantari crystals were interesting to him, though he'd been picked for the team either way and had been invited personally for one reason or another by Master [member="Jyoti Nooran"] for this trip. Or well, he supposed "invited" might be a light way of saying it, he supposed. He just got a holomessage one day saying "Be there", so he just decided to show up. It was interesting, this Master Nooran... He'd felt a sense of nostalgia when he'd met her before, and she'd gone out of her way to greet him despite never once meeting him. This time, he'd gotten this message on his personal datapad, and he couldn't recall giving Nooran the details for that. Was she part of the Silver Assembly perhaps? He'd have to ask [member="Valae Kitra"] so he knew just who he was working with. There were so many Assembly members, that he just couldn't identify them all. And they didn't meet often enough for him to really get a chance to notice.

Weirdly enough, actually, he couldn't recall a single meeting offhand. But it would at least give him an idea as to how she got it if she was a part. Perhaps she was just trying to work closer with the other Assembly members? He couldn't fault her for that. It was a stellar tactical choice and one he would personally encourage.

Either way, while he was suspicious of Nooran, he had decided to come help out. He did have a job to do after all, and odds are this would be more low-key than his last job had been, where he'd dealt with the madness-stricken [member="Tallia Farn"] and been forced to... Well...

He considered whether he should request a crystal, if they found any and had any to spare... His own crystal, if he recalled, did not hold any special properties. Any advantage he could get in combat, he would take. He needed to, the way the world worked. But he would cross that bridge when they got to it. The Jedi Master would arrive at the Silver Rest hangers, approaching Master Nooran and greeting her with a respectful bow and an opening remark of "I pray we will encounter good tidings on this expedition, Master Nooran" in a gentle, quiet tone. He'd grown ever docile and quiet in recent years... Not that most of the Order noticed, seeing as he was a new face to many of them.

The first to arrive for the trip was a Shistavanen she had never met before. Quite remarkable in stature, much taller than what was the norm for their race.

It was a surprise having a giant canine as part of the group, but the Echani wasn't intimidated by the presence of the fierce looking canine, having made a career fighting all kinds of nasty things that made the Shistavanen look like a gentle pup.

Vaashe came next, the very Padawan she had worked with in arranging the expedition.

"Right on time," she replied with a smile. "Even if you weren't, there's no leaving without you."

In a quick span, more people would show up, including her own apprentice Jerit. Mostly initiates new to the order, but there was Knight Qarmast in her distinctive Mandalorian Armor, Josh, and Mr. Tafo the Matukai warrior.

There was a diverse crowd gathered, and a large one at that. Larger than the small shuttle could comfortably seat.

"Good morning," she said, addressing everyone at once. "Thank you all for joining today me on this expedition. This is a much larger group than I expected...so it looks like we'll have to make a transfer."

She glanced over at the Tumbleweed off to her right.

"Everyone hop in and make yourselves comfortable in the lounge. Jerit, could please join me in the cockpit?"

This time, she was flying, with her apprentice playing copilot.

Once inside, she started running through a truncated pre-flight check list, wirelessly communing with the shipboard AI as she did. The old freighter was a patchwork of aftermarket parts added by a number of owners over the years, making such a check up for compatibility necessary before each flight.

Formalities had been exchanged as best as he could, as the young man introduced himself to the collective group. The Jedi leading this venture had shown up Master [member="Jyoti Nooran"]

Kiran gave her a simple nod followed by a small smile, he climbed about the ship and made his way towards the lounge. Foregoing the option to take a seat in one of the lounge chairs, Kiran instead took a seat on the steel floor, his back up against the wall resting his head against the ship. Kiran had been having trouble sleeping since the fall of the Iron Empire.

While he tried to remain positive and a smile had graced his face most of the time since then, a deep somber mood had set in at times. He recalled the moods of others while he had opted to continue. The loss of reason, hope, and other attributes that had much the group succeed were lost to the wind.

He took a deep breath and showed a small smile as he closed his eyes and tried to focus on the task at hand.

"Alright, let's go!"

Zavii followed the others into the the Tumbleweed and took a spot by the holoboard, her favorite place to sit on the old ship. She didn't bother strapping in since they were going to stay in atmosphere for this trip, but didn't boot up any games either, in case someone wanted to strike up a conversation. The dark-skinned Zabrak didn't know how far they were actually going but if they were actually using an aircraft then it would surely be far enough to glean some new information from someone, or even make a new friend. As such, she left a space near her open and smiled invitingly to everyone who came inside.

Sukai stood to the side in a respectful manner as [member="Jyoti Nooran"] greeted all those present, just a general hello to everyone, the current crowd being a little too large to address everyone individually. Her introduction was short and sweat, but casual too, soon directing everyone to the freighter called the tumble weed, 'he, odd name if I do say'. Sukai was a little curious how the craft attained its name but that could wait for a later time, the young Jin quickly following [member="Zavii"] and [member="Kiran Arlos"], the two being the first to enter the ship.

While the two took their own seats the Zabarak going for the game table, while Arlos went for the floor and wall, Sukai sat down at the edge of the rooms lounge, patting the space next to her for Tanasuki to take his place. She was unsure of how long the trip would be, but from experience in a fast freighter it did not take long to from one side of the planet to the other, though would give enough time for some idle chit chat.

She was looking at it as more people arrived and they were being led around. She stood tall and went for the best getting into the ship and finding a place that she would be able to sit down. She was unsure about all fo the others but her ears folded back against her head and she grabbed a small rag for drool that might appear on her lips. Black fur bristling until she spoke letting the basic come around in her mouth slightly awkwardly. "Are we heading out soon. Being in smal spaces makes me hungry." She could smell al of them and different scents with the same thing down below it. The scent of meat and warmth.

Tana causally let his gaze wander as the group stood around listening to [member="Jyoti Nooran"] short but graceful speech, to the point and fast, he like that. The 'Tumble Weed' though was an interesting choice of craft, though with such a large group there was not much choice, he had seen the craft once or twice, but had yet to explore its insides, sort of a hobby for the young man. With a small skip to his step Tana entered the craft in close succession to Sukai. The inside of the craft was nothing spectacular, but it did have a homely feel to it, something that one could appreciate.

As silly as it looked he complied with Sukais nu-viocful request for him to take seat next to her, giving the girl an amused eye roll in the process, "Why must you treat me like such a child"? Sitting down legs cross Tana observed those around the lounge room, giving [member="Zavii"] a friendly smile, while giving misses wolf a sly gaze [member="Viri Monn"], "Hee hee, your not the only one". Said comment was promptly followed by a elbow to the gut from Sukai, making Tana regret his actions, *whisper* "Ouch, fine gees, you always ruin the run".
