The Blood Hound
Yes. He would find someone again, because he'd done it before, and he'd do it again. That wasn't hard to know, you didn't need to be a Seer in order to be able to tell that. She didn't know why Shmi had left after years. There was no good answer for that. Nothing she could say to make him feel less worse. But maybe... Maybe he understood now, why she couldn't, wouldn't, trust him. Trust anyone. Friend or lover, close or casual, anyone you trusted ended up betraying you.
And then Josh said he usually didn't confide in people. Scherezade took another swig from her bottle. He was right, she did have a hard time believing it. He'd been doing a lot of confiding in her since the night on Zeltron, even though she hadn't been listening, not really. She'd figured he was just the type of person to do that, be like that.

Scherezade shook her head. He had it all wrong. She wasn't. If she was, Gerwald and Katrine wouldn't have done what they'd done to her. If she was, she wouldn't be sitting here at a lake on Naboo, being drunk for several weeks in a row. If she was, she would've been able to sleep, or find joy in her stupid adventures, and do things, and... No. He had it all wrong.
Learning to trust again... To that she also shook her head. "There is no balance," she replied, looking emptily at the lake again, "if you trust someone, it's just a matter of time before they betray you. What's the point."
