Once more the Core was under new management. A nation of Sith have overtaken the previously imperial worlds. Bordering it was the frigid home of the Arkanians. A gifted people that several species across the galaxy owed their existence to. Masters in bio-engineering, cloning and advanced cybernetics.

Sith also had a history of altering and corrupting the foundations of life with sorcerous and alchemical practices. Not all too dissimilar to from one another beyond the means in which it was achieved.

The high potentiality of The Sith Covenant annexing Arkania has become a hot button issue and point of contention for some in Arkanian society. Many could see themselves welcoming the idea of creating an unholy union of Sith corruption and Arkanina mad science allowing for discoveries and breakthroughs that were once inconceivable. Other more conscientious members of society feared that such creations would be a step too far even for them.

Anticipating such a threat a group of Arkanian notables organized and reached out to enlist the aid of capable outsiders to engage in some preemptive sabotage against a secluded facility located in the far north of the planet. Full of sensitive research and personnel that if were to fall into the wrong hands could prove disastrous.

. . .

Given the haste in organizing such a mission a rather unlikely team of individuals was assembled. Jedis, Bounty Hunters, Mandalorians, Mercenaries and even Veterans of the Galactic Alliance’s defense of the world against the Empire.

Currently gathered together in the conference room of a sizable Luxury 5000 yacht descending from low orbit. From a projector in the center of the room came the holographic image of an Arkanian gentleman who addressed all those present. “Greetings, you may call me Otan Zethul, your representative for this mission. But the less you know of us and the less we know of you the better. Many of you being outsiders offer us a good deal of plausible deniability for our involvement here.” The man started coldly, likely not even sharing his real name.

“We recommend that you split into two teams. One focused on extraction of sensitive and priority personnel, research and documentation. Such as key scientists, notable executives of Adascorp and any Nobles you may find a list should be provided. Then a second team dedicated to the demolition of the facility. Several stories below the surface is a geo-thermal generator. Sabotage would cause a devastating Phreatic Explosion that would lay waste to the entire facility. Threes things of note being that stealth is not required and that being captured alive is highly discouraged. Lastly, security is primarily made up of droids and decraniated cybernetically enhanced guards. Now, any questions before you begin.” The holographic Arkanian asked, giving all those present a brief time to ask any followup questions.

"I jump on the the extraction team," Mykel offered. His technical background made him a natural fit for the first objective. "Any ciphers or security keys you can offer before hand will be helpful."

Helpful, but not necessary. He didn't let on just how adept at slicing he was, as he felt their host a little too shifty for his liking. and the questionable nature of the experimentation taking place there hadn't gone unnoticed. He wouldn't mind combing through the data before it was all passed along.

Having volunteered for extraction, he sat back and waited to see how the rest of his team would shape up.

Didn't think he'd ever be heading back to Arkania, again...

He was one of the Galactic Alliance's personnel that was there to fend off the Empire's invasion. He killed a lot of men that day, and his side still lost. Doesn't that suck?

But, that's all in the past. What mattered now is what is currently in front of him. He was currently seated more in the back of the conference room, arms crossed. He listened to the briefing, and glanced towards Mykel Dawson Mykel Dawson as he spoke. Tilting his head for a moment in thought, before speaking up himself. "Think I'll go with the sabotage team. Causin' mayhem and the destruction of important buildings is something I find... great levels of enjoyment in."

"Though, my only question is how we're doing the sabotaging. Are we being given explosives, tamperin' with equipment until it fails...?"

Darion of Myrkr leaned on the rail of the conference room with his arms folded and listened to the brief. The client giving it used a name that did not sound like a real one. Darion did not care. Clients often hid behind false names, or behind middlemen.

Othan Zethul laid out two objectives. There was an extraction of people and of data. There was also the destruction of a facility. Darion had destroyed many places in his life and had taken fewer people out alive. He needed the other kind of work now. After the ambush on Ryloth, he needed it.

He stepped out of the shadows and into the pale light of the holoprojector. His old silver-gray and brown Crusader beskar'gam devoured the light, and his T-visor looked straight at the holographic figure of Zethul.

"I will go with the extraction," Darion said. "Will there be a disposable ship provided to us?"

Arkania. Reina wondered what Anet Raine Anet Raine would think of the job the redhead was going on. It'd be interesting information to bargain with in the future. But for now? She had to stay focused on the mission. Sat off towards the side as she cleaned her blade with a cloth, having decided to go with using Whisperwind as opposed to her lightsaber. A red blade would perhaps look out of place almongst a company of "heroes" in this moment.

"No questions for me. I'm gonna go with the sabotage team. I have a few tricks up my sleeves."

She was curious of course. But most of her questions wouldn't be answered. Perhaps there'd be some things she could steal from the facility herself? She shook her head at that. Reina had to try and fight off the more greedy thoughts she was having. It had been a while since she had been able to do any "good" in the Galaxy, so she might as well stay focused on that.

Joseph Torson stood motionless as he carefully listened Otan's initial debriefing about this mission. He wasn't too familiar with Arkania, what did know was that the local inhabitants of the Planet were renown for their high intelligence an proficiency in all fields of science in addition to being the site of a major battle between the Galactic Empire and the Galactic Alliance, the last major engagement between both factions prior to the Battle of Atrisia.

As for the mission itself, Otan Zethul laid out two separate objectives for the operation : extraction and sabotage, which would be carried out by two separate teams. While Torson was equally capable of fitting in well with either teams, he had his own ulterior motives for joining this little mission and as such he proceeded to give a simple response. "I'll go with the extraction team." he simply said in a cold professional tone while crossing his hands.

After speaking, Torson would remain silent simply observing who would be apart of the extraction team and who would be apart of the sabotage team. The individuals gathered here came from all walks of life, and he was somewhat curious as to see how this mission would play out even though the outcome was already pre-determined.

"Will there be a disposable ship provided to us?"

"I'd hope so," Loomi remarked, mostly to herself. "Little good extraction will do us otherwise..."

She pretty much had made it clear she wasn't going to be doing any sabotaging. She wasn't fond of breaking things, but the presence of Reina Daival Reina Daival didn't help. There was a strange energy that swirled around a woman who was very different last they met.

Better to not know until that put them at odds with each other. Loomi wasn't fond of harboring those sorts of negative thoughts.

"I'll go with the extraction team."

Not that being around Imperials made that any better. It was fine. She could tolerate their presence for now. Maybe even keep tabs on them to ensure they didn't step out of line and leave the rest of the team high and dry.

Something about this operation gave her a particularly bad feeling.

Lily looked around at the people attending this mission. It was a group that Lily was curious by since it was not the group that she would have thought to be spending time with. There were Jedi which she knew and felt comfortable but mercenaries and others that felt less tolerant of the Jedi that she was. However, it seemed there was a united cause of fighting the Sith and their potential attempts to take Arkania in the future. Listening to the head of the meeting, there were going to be two groups and stealth was not going to be necessary.

Lucky for Lily, she was never renowned for being especially stealthy. She preferred confronting an opponent upfront and making sure they regret fighting.

"Sabotage for me." Lily stated firmly as she looked to the others joining that mission. Her gaze did notice Reina was also someone joining in on the mission. Reina was someone who Lily only knew through Colette, and from the last she heard from Colette, things were tense but still amicable between them. Lily did hope they worked through their issues and that this was a good sign.

It also made Lily curious about her own Padawan and the relationship that Lily desired to obtain with Kito. She wanted things to be good and while there was always going to be reasons to butt heads, Lily did hope to ensure that they worked it out in the end.

"I'm ready to go whenever everyone else is." Lily mentioned, pulling herself away from her thoughts and returning to the mission that was before her.

Well, Cora thought to herself, this is certainly a motley crew.

Perhaps that would be their strength.

The lack of information didn't sit well with her, and neither did the frigid slopes of Arkania. She'd nearly perished on a snow-covered mountainside during the Empire's takeover, and the aftermath had left her with an extended recovery time.

Her gaze lingered a little longer than it needed to on both Joseph Torson and Reina. Something about the former unsettled her, and the latter had become cozy with the Sith.

Yet, she was still here. That said something, though she wasn’t certain what it was.

Ives carried his broom and bucket through the corridors of the Arkanian research facility. Various biological contaminants and waste coated his simple blue overalls. He'd just got done with a cleaning job.

And, wow, working for Arkanians sucked.

The people here were the worst. Ives walked past the white-haired bastards every day and somehow he got the feeling none of them even registered he existed. The only time they acknowledged him was when they needed one of their failed experiments cleaned up. Messy work. The kind that had Ives fight to keep from retching right into his mask every time he was called into the labs. What these freaks were doing with their genetics research was beyond Ives, but the messes they left behind were some nightmare fuel.

On the upside, his tolerance for gut-wrenching odours was improving. And he felt a little bit proud of that. Sped up the job, for one, and that was a talent he could use in future work.

Ives began whistling a tune, finally reaching the little janitorial cabinet. At least the benefits they offered were good. Tomorrow would be his last day, and as part of his contract his exit benefits entitled him to a full medical workup by some of Arkania's best doctors. Boy did he desperately need it, too.

As the questions came the holographic Arkanian took note of each one. Attempting to answer each one with a bit of a pause in between. As though they were being spoken by someone out of view of the holoprojection. “Shuttles will be provided, this model of luxury yacht can house a number of small shuttles. There are shuttles ready, one for each team.” Otan paused for a moment before continuing. “For the extraction team security keys will be provided, but note that they only have access to the higher levels of the facility. Not deeper levels such as where the geothermal generator is housed. As for the sabotage team, thermal detonators will be provided as a fall back option. But it is recommended attempting to overload the system first to achieve a more desirable demolition. Making it look like a tragic accident is our aim here. We have an agent already inside the facility working to take down its surveillance system to hide your identities and involvement. But if word gets out we will manage.” The Arkanian explained, offering more context to the mission before shifting his attention to Corazona. “If you must prioritize one it should be lives. Data is easier to reconstruct if lost.”

In the conference room Ko stood doing some very basic math and using his single hand to aid him. Keeping track of who was going with each team. Noting that more were electing to go with the extraction team than sabotage. Wanting to keep things more well rounded and balanced he would choose which team he was going with. “I’ll be aiding the sabotage team.” Ko had a minor knack for hampering complex machines and mechanisms. Something he even got to do last time he was here on Arkania in its defense against the Empire. However, he got a bad feeling from this Otan guy, that something seemed off. Then again Arkanians tended to weird him out in general.

“Now, unless you have any more questions you all may proceed to the starboard side of the ship. There your shuttles should be waiting for you to complete your descent to Arkania’s surface. Feel free to enter through the facility's front door.” As they had stated prior stealth wasn’t necessary here.

"I will assist with extractions. Are we to prioritize lives, or data?"

"Lives, alwa-..."

She wasn't part of the extraction team, but Reina opened her mouth almost straight away to add her opinion. That to prioritize lives, no matter what. Data could be recovered, or replicated, even if it might take centuries, but lives couldn't. Yet the Arkanian had beat her to it. It was also from Cora speaking however that Reina was starting to notice the slight handful of Jedi that seemed to be forming. Two of them were going with her group. A Kel'Dor and Echani. The two Jedi that Reina was familiar with were going off with a separate team. That meant they wouldn't be able to sense too much of a chance in Reina, though Loomi Loomi seemed to have noticed...

With that being said, she just gave a wave in the Jedi's direction, alongside with an awkward grin. As much as she might had a strange energy around her, and a slightly darker aura, the core of who she was happened to be the same. In a way that she might have had a fresh coat of paint, but the engine inside was the same as always.

As they were told to head off to the shuttles, Reina wandered on over, waiting for her group to form up as she folded her arms along the front, taking them in. Reina, of course, had her own motives and things she planned on doing for the mission, but at the same time she truly did want to help as she looked between the trio of Ko Vuto Ko Vuto Lily Decoria Lily Decoria and Gavin Restur Gavin Restur .

"If we manage to find some kind of security console, I can shut down some security defenses they might have. Get us security access as well, potentially a live map using the security cameras as well. Sure, a lightsaber could cut through most of the doors, but that's time we might be wasting."

The Ersansyr wasn't a technological expert, but she had a fair amount of experience using Mechu-Deru from when she had a prosthesis. It also gave her an excuse to log into a security console and try to get some form of information. Some form of bargaining chip for what she had planned on a later date.

Saram's Equipment

G-02H/S Shev'la'galaar-class Heavy Stealth Gunship Galaar 1-1
En route to jump location over main security control center

The galaxy was changing once more. Saram didn't know if this meant that war was on the horizon or not, but one thing was true, they finally had a contract worth picking up again. It felt good to be back to work again. The Arkanians had hired freelancers to handle extraction and demolition. Her team was to conduct a surgical strike to neutralize the security control center keep the facility's security spread as thin as possible

The security center was a reinforced structure buried a fair stretch under the planet's surface. The armor-piercing assault-grade missiles on their corvette could probably penetrate that far underground and through the reinforced structure, but those missiles were expensive, and would eat into a decent chunk of their payout for this job. That left the good old fashioned way. Rangir, this was way more fun anyway, it'd been a little bit since either she or Davaab had gotten into a decent scrap anyway.

"And we have a confirmation there's going to be no Jetii, Dar'jetii or anything in between?" asked Viraen as his gaze shifted toward the secure case Void Stone Glop Grenades. Most of them had returned theirs, given that they were probably not going to see any use on this deployment.

"Some of the freelancers might be?" voiced Ran after taking a moment to no doubt consult the mission brief for confirmation.

"Since when did they start taking merc jobs?" scoffed Jaing in stereotypical grizzled ruug'la man fashion. Though not that any aruetii considered him old at 45 galactic standard years. Middle aged, was apparently the accepted phrase. There was something to be said about individuals who reached 'middle age' in a culture and profession where most died young.

"In this economy, can you blame them?" deadpanned Anila casually without bothering to even glance over from where she sat in the troop bay. This did elicit a few amused snorts and chuckles from the others, herself included.

"Shab, are they even taking payment?" asked Viraen, prompting all eyes to fall on Ran, who simply gave an exaggerated shrug to make the gesture evident enough. Neither the briefing packet nor Ran's usual channels had picked up on that particular piece of information. How did those who weren't independently wealthy manage to keep up with their costs she would never really understand, but then, it wasn't her shabla problem.

"Does it matter as long as we're getting paid?" impatiently snapped Jaing. Viraen looked like he was ready to follow that up before he tilted his head in acquiescence and responded with an open-handed overtly exaggerated shrug. Jaing snorted, evidently satisfied that he'd made his point.

"Yeah, but are they getting paid more?" mused Rusana. As was fitting for namesake, Rusana could be counted on to put her skill augmented years of training and experience to good use. Sometimes it was her choice of not-so-comedic timing.

"ETA 2 minutes, standby," thankfully, just when it seemed like she'd have to step in to get them to gev, Rav, the gunship's pilot interrupted with her announcement over the gunship's intercom. Davaab didn't need to be told twice, immediately everyone got to their feet, settling into jump order. The cabin lights switched to red in preparation for the jump.

The light shifted to green as the bay doors opened with a hiss. Eight hidden figures leapt from the ramp in perfectly rehearsed order, putting distance between one another as they fell through the sky. Their fall was arrested by wings of invisible fire shortly before they gently landed, barely disturbing the snow at their feet. As Davaab fell back into loose formation, a quick burst transmission was relayed from Saram's helmet to their gunship and forwarded to their Arkanian employer; they were on the ground.

["As for the sabotage team, thermal detonators will be provided as a fall back option. But it is recommended attempting to overload the system first to achieve a more desirable demolition. Making it look like a tragic accident is our aim here."]

Excellent, that was his question answered. He simply fell silent afterwards, watching anyone else speak who had questions, and the answers that followed.

["Now, unless you have any more questions you all may proceed to the starboard side of the ship. There your shuttles should be waiting for you to complete your descent to Arkania's surface. Feel free to enter through the facility's front door."]

With that, he rose up to a stand. Seemed pretty simple of a job. Plus, he gets to screw over some Sith. Which is always a fun thing to do. A hand briefly adjusted his hat, as he stepped out of the room. Walking towards where the shuttles were located.

As he approached, he kept one of his hands on his belt. Reina Daival Reina Daival seemed to be the first one of their little team to reach the shuttle, and she was already speaking.

["If we manage to find some kind of security console, I can shut down some security defenses they might have. Get us security access as well, potentially a live map using the security cameras as well. Sure, a lightsaber could cut through most of the doors, but that's time we might be wasting."]

"Hello to you too, ma'am."
Keeping his tone light, to make it clear he was simply joking around. He'd halt next to Reina, and await for Ko Vuto Ko Vuto and Lily Decoria Lily Decoria to gather around.

"Sure, you can handle the slicin'." To Reina. Not a problem at all for him. "They said it's mostly droids for security, so this shouldn't be too hard. Name's Gavin, by the way. Don't think I've had the pleasure of workin' with any of you before." Speaking to the group as a whole.

"Given all y'all's choice of attire, and this one talkin' 'bout lightsabers," Nodding his head towards Reida. "I'm going to assume each of you are Jedi. Which, should mean this'll be a cakewalk." No reason not to be friendly with people he'll be working with.

Ezorea observed the briefing hologram with a cool, analytical stare, her expression unreadable beneath the weight of her thoughts. When the moment came to speak, her voice was calm and precise.

"Extraction will be my focus," she said, inclining her head toward those already volunteering. "Lives are the priority, and any scientists or personnel we secure intact will help mitigate the fallout of what's to come. I'll ensure the process is swift and controlled."

Her fingers brushed briefly against the hilt of the blade at her hip-less a gesture of aggression and more one of readiness.

"Provide the highest-level transit codes you have available and the primary access manifest. I'll coordinate with whoever else elects extraction to optimize our insertion and exfiltration points. Once we've secured our targets, I'll oversee their evacuation and ensure no critical subjects are left behind."

Ezorea then stepped back, eyes scanning the room for others willing to stand on the front lines of rescue, not just ruin.

One by one, each participant announced their desired roll for the mission. The evacuation team turned out to be quite the eclectic group, but by their questions and bearing they all came off as competent at least. He offered quiet nods to each individual, a stoic mask of professionalism presented even towards Cora.

Their Arkanian handler proceeded to field questions and provide clarifcation on various matter raised, while also assuring them that each participant's identity would be protected. That was all well and good, but Mykel and his single fire team of Black Ops Rangers would all be fully concealed beneath armor head to foot as added insurance. His trusty lightwhip was stuffed under his armor, but a telescoped Force Pike visibly stuck to his carrier as his preferred melee option for clandestine activity.

"I will assist with extractions. Are we to prioritize lives, or data?"

"The living for certain," he concurred. "I agree their knowledge and experience will prove an invaluable asset for future reference, and it's just the right thing to do." He smiled at that. "My men and I will ensure that data is secured, though."

Finally he slid on his helmet, voice now taking on a mechanically distorted edge.

"One last thing, we should probably use callsigns. We'll can just go down the line in order of volunteers. I'll start as Reaper 01. My Rangers will be Reaper 02-05. And then so on and so forth. And Control, for our esteemed organizer. Perhaps something else for the Sabotage team, but I'll leave it for them to decide on the way down."

That was all. He rose from the table and began heading toward the shuttles for deployment.

It was a strange band set for the extraction.

There were soldiers in black armor, shaped like the Guavian Death Gang enforcers he had seen before, though drabbed in black, not their red. There was a yellow-skinned humanoid of an alien kind he did not know, and there was an Imperial that was sticking out like a sore thumb. And then there were Jetii, or sentients dressed as them, at least.

For all his life, Darion had spent it in the ranks of his clan as they roamed the galaxy as a mercenary company. He had known the way a brother stood at his back without needing to look. To work with aruetiise was nothing new. To stand without his own was.

He felt it now, in the space behind him.

Now he had to trust these aruetiise to have his back.

Now he was alone.

Darion remained silent as his group reached a consensus that lives were a priority for extraction over data. He didn't care much about either or what the consensus would be. He'd stick with it either way; it was best not to deviate from the collective unless the collective deviated from common sense.

One of the Guavian look-alikes then suggested callsigns. Darion almost cracked a smile beneath his helm. Crusader came to him at once. Like his own ancient beskar'gam. The name the outsiders had given his people when they had swept across worlds in fire and iron. The name that still invoked terror in the galaxy.

He liked the taste of it.

But he only said, "Call me Darion," attracted to simplicity like any warrior.

He followed them toward the shuttles, the rattle of his spurs following his every step.

"I will assist with extractions. Are we to prioritize lives, or data?"
“If you must prioritize one it should be lives. Data is easier to reconstruct if lost.”

That was an answer Loomi liked. They should prioritize lives, or at least she would. That was something she could do.

"Call me Darion,"

"My name is acceptable I think," Loomi chimed in, answering Mykel Dawson Mykel Dawson , "It isn't a common one I've heard. It is Loomi."

Her good eye drifted towards the Mandalorian. Face hidden by helm, as many did. Still, the Force showed more than the eye could see. This man carried something hidden below his armor, a guilt or shame of some kind. The Godoan could not help but wonder what that thing was that intertwined with his presence in the Force. Perhaps she shouldn't be snooping like so, but her empathic abilities were far too strong to be simply turned off.

It was hard to suppress her nature.

Loomi would offer a meek wave back. It was... friendly, at least. She should accept that more than what she felt on the surface. Reina was just on a complicated road. That was all...

"If you all would like such a thing," she spoke again, now addressing the group as they moved, "I can weave you all wards to protect you from threats to the heart and mind. Only if you are comfortable with such things."

"Good."

Cora was mildly surprised that an Arkanian would prioritize lives over data. Or rather, minds over data. Ah, that made a little more sense.

They weren't known to be a heartfelt people.

It might've seemed like an odd question coming from a Jedi, but she aimed to suss out more about their mysterious handler. It was as much of a temperature check on the Arkanian as it was on her comrades.

Mykel seems to slot himself into a natural leadership position, and Cora was content to follow. One corner of her lips lifted in a barely perceptible smile before slipping the helmet over her head.

"Lead the way," she said. "I'll go by Banshee."

The lab doors opened with a mechanical hush, and out stepped Dethrin Vuld. A tall and perilously thin man, Dr. Vuld's willowy figure and pale skin marked him as both a specter and a man of science.

He'd spent years haunting this facility, and for what? For the Alliance to encumber his research? For the Empire to dwindle into the breath of a dying man at light speed?

"You," he snapped to the janitorial unit. If Ives had a name, he didn't care to know it. Names were for successful projects.

Dr. Vuld pinched the bridge of his nose between two spindly fingertips. He'd already harangued one laboratory assistant over the harsh lighting that spurred his headaches. It was so hard to find good help.

"Clean it up," was all he said. Low and grumbling, as if Ives were an afterthought. And he was.

Dethrin gave a cursory wave to the door of his lab, then started down the hall. In case this extraction mission ended up botched, he'd at least ensure that his precious data was backed up in multiples.

As Otan finished speaking, Torson quickly noticed that a considerable portion of the grew gathered here were Jedi which did raise some suspicions. It made sense for someone like him to be here but for the Jedi? It was a bit odd for them to take up a simple job like this when they could just carry out such a task themselves, especially when they had the back of the High Republic. For now he'd keep a close eye on the other Jedi who would join him in the infiltration team, but this did create some complications for his task.

One of the individuals within the extraction team stepped forward and immediately moved to assume a position of leadership already making proposals for how they should operate. Torson didn't mind it, if anything it was somewhat refreshing to see someone of the same caliber as him for once and having someone like Reaper One only at the helm of the extraction team would most likely make his task easier. "You can refer to me as Wraith." he stated as he followed the rest of the extraction team towards the shuttles.
