Meeting room aboard Universe-class Halfway Station in orbit of Ord Mantell

Munit tome'tayl, skotah iisa. Years. He had spent years watching those in charge of the core squander it's resources. Most people seemed to forget how much the core of this kadtape galaxy they lived in had when it came to resources. Truth was, Shuk was tired of watching governments make seemingly idiotic decisions that had a knock on effect for them all. Almost none of them seemed rooted in anything but hubris. He had tried to ignore it all, keep his head down and follow the letter of the SuperCommando codex in hopes that business, their business, wouldn't be affected. Chaos didn't make for good repeat customers; most people were not pragmatic enough to hire you if you had taken their sworn enemy's contract in the past. That wasn't taking into account the futility of investing in a client that may be gone tomorrow.

Few felt the real need to do something, however. Misha Kaskadov Misha Kaskadov was not most people. He understood the issue, and understood it well. They didn't need to speak long to realize that they were on the same page. The time to wait for the galaxy to figure its own mess had passed, the time to act was now. Act, or be left out of the decision, and leave it to chance who that decision was made by. They both had the means to achieve this, but the truth was that they couldn't do this alone. Shuklaar had a few more people in mind than those who had been invited to speak at this conference. That said, the invitation had been largely open, barring a few mutually agreed on troublemakers and chakaare. They were both optimistic however; Ord Mantell's space had been turned into a staging ground. Without a powerful galactic government to back them, the planet's administration had wisely chosen to keep their protests to minimum.

The meeting room on this station was opulent. Generous use of wood, marble and crystal inlays and trims, even potted plants of all shabla things. A far cry from the utilitarian comforts preferred by his company, but that was deliberate. He might have been the type who was not afraid to get his own hands dirty, but that was not the case with the majority of corporate leaders. That was fine, they didn't need them to be personally involved, just be willing to go beyond the boardroom if that was what it took, whether that meant doing so themselves by proxy, their own forces, or just providing their full support while Strill and the Hellions what they did so well.

Shuklaar glanced at those in the meeting room, his face as much of a blank mask as his buy'ce would have been as he attempted to read the room. He had little doubt that others would soon arrive, but they needed to get things started, "Ladies and gentlemen, I will keep things simple and short so we don't waste each other's time. We all have businesses to attend to. Conducting said businesses when the very galaxy we try to work with is either against us, or so unstable that who you're doing business with is there one day and gone the next. The resource rich core has long been the dominion of those who would squander those resources. I think I can speak for Mr. Kaskadov when I say we believe that the time for talk alone is over. It is time to act."

Echelonian hulls moved just beyond the station's primary traffic, clean-lined and asymmetrical, some borrowed, some purpose-built. Still in a period of accelerated standardization, which was Echelon's default state, their megacorps were experimenting openly. Different hull philosophies meeting different doctrines. Efficiency, however, unified every vessel.

Alongside the Mandalorians, a dozen regular ASF personnel lined the hallway leading into the meeting chamber, their presence understated but deliberate. Closest to the doors stood a specialized ATRD unit, augmented, unmistakably prepared for contingencies that polite diplomacy preferred not to consider.

Inside the chamber, Balen Var Black adjusted the flared cuffs of his fine armorweave suit as he took his seat. The movement was casual, often mistaken for decorative, though the brush of his cufflinks quietly activated an encrypted signal trace, a precise fix on his location, and a quiet frequency for subtle team communications.

Two aides stood just behind his chair near the wall: Broca, broad-shouldered and olive-tanned, placed the black briefcase on the table before Balen Var Black with care. He turned and opened it. Subtle holoprojections and live-feeds gave a dim blue glow, carefully turned down for his privacy. Annasun followed, her white hair neatly tied, movements slender, smart, and unassuming. She set an additional datapad and key beside the case and stepped back silently. To the untrained eye, she was simply an assistant. To those who knew better, she was the most dangerous person Black had brought with him. Both bore cybernetic augmentations, Apex-tier. Invisible unless you knew where and how to look.

Black waited as the room settled, as the last sentiments of the host's opening words faded into the significant silence. Then, he inclined his head, just enough to be respectful.

"First," Balen said evenly, voice calmly measured, "thank you for the invitation. Ord Mantell isn't contracted with Echelon. Which tells me this meeting wasn't decided on a whim." He adjusted one cuff, idle, practised, and leaned back into his chair. Relaxed but never dismissive. One leg crossed over the other as his fingers came together loosely contemplative.

"I won't pretend Echelon arrived here out of charity," Black added. "We don't do sentiment. We do sustainability." Echelons mantra. "Stability, systems that still function when governments don't." The trace of a smile touched his expression as he gestured outward with one hand, his palm up, as though placing something weighty but invisible onto the table between them all.

"The Alliance valued debate. Guardrails on influence." He gave a measured breath. "Those ideals carried the galaxy a long way, but even good systems can become brittle when stretched too far." His gaze ran over the muted blue glow of the briefcase, absorbing new data, before returning to the room.

"I am a simple man," Black said, spreading his hands briefly into a shrug before letting them rest again. "I believe information needs to move to be of value. When it's held too tightly, pressure builds to collapse. When it's guided, and channelled responsibly, it becomes power, a predictable stability." He leaned forward now, just enough to shift the tone. "So here's my opening offer." A pause given to look at every face here, then a deliberate offer to set momentum.

"Echelon brings infrastructure. Media relays, secure communication networks. Control frameworks for artificial intelligences that actually work, not as tools or as weapons, but as partners with defined rights, responsibilities, and oversight." His tone firmed noticably on the last point. "Something this galaxy has been improvising badly for far too long."

"You want to act. We want to ensure that when action happens, the right people hear about it, the wrong people don't, and the systems in between don't collapse into chaos... again."

A finger tapped the table twice. Letting the offer sit to see where it landed.

There had been days when the influence of the Santhe Corporation had been felt through the Core Worlds. In the modern day the company is a shell of it's former self. Political unrest, economic collapse and the loss of it's most profitable subsidiary had left the company in a bad way. Now in the hands of a young Liann industrialist called Eirys Santhe, Santhe corp found itself on the cusp of this new century as a battered thing that looked set to enter into the annuals of history remembered in part and with thanks to their innovate ideas that saw to the invention of the TIE series.

But instead of joining the Empire of the Lost (into disarray and collapse) the company has endured it's recent tumultuous past to begin again in a new era. Therefore an opportunity to expand Core ward could not be ignored. As Eirys took her seat in the conference room she still quietly chastised herself for not attending this summit (hosted by the CEO of the Breshig War Forge Consolidated) via hologram despite knowing that sacrifices had to be made to make her business profitable once again. The blonde retained an almost permanent look of stupor and fatigue that was only covered up by the excessive make-up that she wore. So, travelling from Lianna to Ord Mantell had involved a long journey to get here, and Eirys quietly found it difficult to sleep away from home. Still, she would endure this constant feeling of tiredness to make things work on the behalf of the Santhe Corporation.

After all, her family legacy was on the line with every decision or indecision that she made. Attendance of this summit, in person, suggested to her potential associates (or rivals) that not only was her interest genuine in the Corporate Federation project, but that Eirys herself would make it an important matter for her and the company that she now owned just by being here. Travelling from the Outer Rim systems this far into Mid Rim territories was no easy feat but Eirys had managed it nevertheless to show her face with other corporatists who were looking to exploit the opportunities presented by the collapse of another galactic power who, at the height of their reign, had had safeguards to prevent the likes of them from doing it in the first place.

The idea of acquiring resources left behind by the Galactic Alliance in the Core Worlds, as well as the wealth and influence held out here in the most civilized parts of the galaxy, was something that could not be ignored or taken lightly. So, Eirys would stifle her yawns, and settle her stupor gaze upon the others who had come here today, so that could listen to their proposals, ideas and potential joint ventures personally.

"Santhe corp has interest in the ideas that are behind this conference," Eirys revealed as she spoke into her intercom (positioned on the table before her) after Mr Black Mr Black finished his introduction of Echelon. "Organisations in Imperial space, such as my own, have retained their interest in creating business relationships with Mandalorian enterprises, and indeed other potential partners seated here today, particularly after the Anvil of Concordia. My company understands that trading between Mandalorian and Imperial space has been on the agenda for a little while now. Perhaps we will be the first to begin such business practices in earnest."

Turning her gaze to Shuklaar Kyrdol Shuklaar Kyrdol , Eirys planted a pretty smile and finished her introduction by saying: "If I like the ideas pitched in this venue today then I would be more than happy to begin working with Breshig Consolidated, and of course, with the other orgs who have travelled to Ord Mantell today."

O FORTUNA
ORD MANTELL ORBIT

There was a time when spice was enough for the Pyke Syndicate to sustain, even flourish. For hundreds of years, the warlords of the Outer Rim bowed to the might and influence of the Overlords of Spice. But like everything else, the Outer Rim has changed. The Black Sun and The Imperial Confederation have been breathing under the Pyke's neck, and the Clans are not able to see beyond the robbed spice shipments and safehouse raids. They lack vision. All of them, besides one; Clan Hevro.

Hurusa'let walked into the station's meeting room to questioning eyes; isn't the Vitric Holdings supposed to be a Pyke bankrolled operation? What is this... pale humanoid has to do with it? The Uugteen is used to the looks; he's one lifted alien in a world of Pyke after all. But that just shows how different the Hevros are. They have foreseen this issue way before the other Clans even thought about it. That's how Vitric Holdings was born, and that's how a minor clan has become one of the richest Pyke Clan in the galaxy.

The COO of Vitric Holdings listened to the speeches, studied the faces of the representatives. Breshig, Hex, Echelon, Santhe. A collection of powerhouses, none specializing in logistics. The Spice God has blessed their kind today.

"If you hold all the cards in a planet, but the Empire controls the vacuum between the stars... do you actually own an asset, or have you simply acquired a very expensive prison?" The Uugteen threw a question at the audience.

"You speak of 'assuming direct control' of strategic systems. A bold plan. But I ask you: How does your inventory move? The Galactic Alliance is dead. The corridors of the Core are no longer trade routes; they are kill-boxes occupied by marauding Sith and desperate warlords." His eyes travelled from the Mandalorian to Mr. Black, as his voice remains flat and soft. "You want to build islands of order in a sea of chaos. But when the monsoon comes, islands starve."

He paused for a moment, taking a holo-link device from his pocket. The others in the room would be notified in their devices; a file delivery request, in which is Vitric Holdings' official company profile. No blood, no spices.

"That's where
Vitric Holdings comes in. While the legitimate shipping lanes burn, our logistics network remains fluid; it does not appear on Imperial charts. Our shadow bankers and investors know how to move capital without triggering Sith inquisitions." He offered a lifeline to the congregation.

"You fight the wars, you control the infrastructure, we want none of that. We will just sustain and future proof the entire supply chain network." And the spice will flow, all in due time.

Meeting room aboard Universe-class Halfway Station in orbit of Ord Mantell

Shuklaar glanced around the room, considering the responses he'd heard thus far. He considered briefly for a moment what Hurusa’let had said. Shuklaar had heard more than a fair share of information about them. There were rumors, and while he didn't usually care for such unverified intelligence, some intelligence was better than none. Whether the position he had outlined was the result of jostling for power, arrogance or ignorance, he didn't know. Regardless, he didn't know that Shuklaar had a card that he had not played, and he would not till he knew the man was committed.

He turned his attention to the individual in question before he spoke, "Rest assured, such a critical concern such as the logistics of the operation was considered long before any of you were asked to join this endeavor. We have been in this business for a very long time, after all." He paused for a moment before continuing, "That said, as we say in Mando'a, Ret'lini, just in case. There's no harm in redundancy, in fact it may serve to keep our enemies guessing." Imperials, Dar'jetii, Jetii, whoever the shab decided they were going to get in the way were in for an unpleasant surprise.

He considered both what Mr Black Mr Black and what Eirys Santhe had said. He appreciated Ms. Santhe's show of support despite not having heard all that much in regards to the plan, though Breshig wasn't quite a company that worked out of Mandalorian space, though one of the few remaining Mandalorian companies the galaxy. Mandalorian owned and majority operated. Regardless, it wasn't the business he valued so much as it was the support, though given her Imperial connection he wondered if that came with a catch. Something he would have to clarify in a moment.

Mr. Black on the other hand, his request came without an offer of support per se. He was not unaware of the value of his request. Both he and the company understood all too well what the value of data was. He saw no reason to just hand over even a copy of their hard earned data without something more concrete. He paused once more, not for dramatic effect, but because his mind was thinking in Mando'a and he had to spend the extra effort to translate back into Galactic Standard Basic.

" Mr Black Mr Black , I hope you understand our reticence to pass on data without something more...substantial. As it stands, Mr. Kaskadov and I could probably last a pitched battle or two against most galactic militaries as it stands. We could make them bleed, but the battle of attrition that would be lost without a contest. Data, it's flow, and your expertise in managing it is appreciated without a doubt, but we do require what manpower you can spare from your own operations," he said, taking a breath as he finished that thought.

"Ms. Santhe," he started, turning to face Eirys Santhe beofre continuing, "I am happy to work with your company as well, but before we do so there are some matters that need to be clarified. One, though we are Mandalorian owned and majority operated, our operation are not located within the Mandalore Sector. Two, what we are attempting here is probably going to raise the ire of many, likely including the Imperials in whose space you do business. Is that a price you are willing to pay? There's no shame in stepping out now." He glanced at the others assembled as well, indicating that they too could step out at this juncture if they wished.

A Star Destroyer shot out of hyperspace, slowing down only to elegantly dock at a reserved point. The venerable HNV-701 "Tython", arguably the most famous ship in the Outer Rim, came to a halt before locking its docking ring into the enormous space station. Its hull seemed bare, devoid of any turrets or odd protrusions, her weapons retracted just in case the delegates got a little nervous.

The station itself was on high alert with such a collection of high value targets all in one place. Ships patrolled the system and the station itself had its scanners and sensors on constant monitoring both inside and around the area. Hellion marines patrolled the halls while others gathered in formation to receive their Director. Misha was rather late to the meeting, business on the other side of the galaxy had kept him busy up to the last minute. But he made it. Late or not, he wasn't going to miss such a meeting on his own station.

Adjusting his suit, Misha entered the conference room and spared a glance to study the collection of oddballs around the table. His main focus was his newest business partner, the Mandalorian. They hadn't properly interacted in the past, always using proxies in their underlings to do the meetings. Now they were face to face. The Mantellian's lips curled into a faint grin as he turned his attention to the rest of the delegates. "Pardon my arrival. Business kept me occupied." He spoke calmly as he calmly walked over to the head of the table and slid into his seat. "Velkome to my khome." He greeted with an outstretched arm before leaning back into his seat. The pin on his collar matched the three cyan hexagons littered all across the station, including a wall in the very conference room they inhabited.

There was no mistaking who their host was.

"Alor Kyrdol, I am pleased dat ve kould finally meet in person. I imagine our kommanders khave already found each other." He quipped with a faint chuckle. Finally he decided to entertain the presence of the others. "Khave you all received any refreshments yet?" He enquired politely, intentionally interrupting the current talks.

Shuklaar Kyrdol said:
"Ms. Santhe..."

"I am happy to work with your company as well, but before we do so there are some matters that need to be clarified. One, though we are Mandalorian owned and majority operated, our operation are not located within the Mandalore Sector. Two, what we are attempting here is probably going to raise the ire of many, likely including the Imperials in whose space you do business. Is that a price you are willing to pay? There's no shame in stepping out now."

As the summit begun Eirys felt the tiredness begin to lift. There was no doubt that when she departed from the Universe station later and begun the long trip back to Lianna that it would come back to plague her when she laid down to try and claim some shuteye. But the industrialist felt the familiar pang of excitement as she engaged the faces of these amalgamated corporations and it helped to erode the fatigue that had longed settled in from her business practices.

"Fantastic," Eirys replied to Kyrdol as he laid out that while Breshig were a Mandalorian entity in their own right they were not distinctly affiliated or subsequently influenced by their kin who had rebuilt the Mandalore sector. "The Outer Rim systems are turbulent and often political. It would be beneficial for my company to have potential business partners unaffected by potential issues posed by Mandalorian and Imperial relations if hostilities were to erupt between the Empire and Confederation despite there being no signs to the contrary this quarter."

"As for this 'potential' push-back. This would be something to be dealt with accordingly-"

Misha Kaskadov said:
"Khave you all received any refreshments yet?"

Eirys pouted her lips as Kaskadov interrupted her. She decided not to react rudely and managed to raise a soft smile in the direction of the Mantellian.

"-We will deal with such potential issues at the time," Eirys continued to say as she picked back up from where she left off. Her tired gaze turned back to Shuklaar. "I do not tend to dissuade myself from good business due to such things. We always have our ear out when it comes to political backlash from our business practices."

Eirys did not want to show her hand to these men. At least not yet. Santhe Corporation retained major connections to those in prominent positions of influence and power in the star systems that were currently caught in the second Imperial occupation ever since the collapse of the Empire of the Lost and the subsequent formation of the Imperial Confederation. One particular associate came to mind as Eirys considered her own position carefully. That particular person seemed to have an invested interest in making sure that her company became profitable again and therefore afforded them some safeguards when it came to their own corporate interests, at least, for now.

Therefore Imperial interference or backlash regarding Santhe's potential activites in the Core Worlds were not something that Eirys anticipated. But she didn't want the likes of Breshig or Echelon to know this and certainly not COO from Vitric whose statement implied illicit dealings that might affect Santhe corp in the long term regardless of their influence in Imperial-Confederation space.

"The idea of acquiring access back into the Durasteel sectors are certainly interesting," Eirys explained as she outlined Santhe's stance when it came to the ideas that had led up to this summit. "Doonium is a fine material but there is a reason why Durasteel remains king. There is also advantages that we would like to explore when it comes to the supply of gas and other fuel sources for our technology. But I do have my concerns when it comes to acquiring access to the star systems who manufacture or supply these commodities."

"The logistics of this venture are concerning given the current climate affecting the hyperlanes and known trading routes. Not only are they currently affected by other interests as outlined by Vitric Holdings but have also been in a state of disarray ever since the Planetshift. The collapse of the Galactic Alliance coincides with a vast change in cosmological data with many star systems reported to have changed their positions in space. These routes, and their traditional hyperlanes, have required new lines to be drawn for quite sometime."

"This is an expensive and time consuming thing that the alliance would have handled if they had not been defeated. It is a problem which could require corporate co-operation in order for it to be remedied. Expensive, but perhaps, worth while, if the lanes could be owned and subsequently controlled..."

As Eirys brought up the disarray left behind by the collapse of the Galactic Alliance, and the change brought on by the Planetshift, she took the moment to to be quiet and hear what her other new, potential colleagues would have to say regarding this matter. It raised an important question that had been implied by both the Santhe Corporation and Vitric Holdings' delegates. How would they capitalize on the current state of affairs?
