OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • Intent: To create yet another small scale, deep-space shipyard for the Republic Engineering Corporation.
  • Canon: Deepdock - Linked in Primary Sources.
  • Permissions: Not Applicable - All of the Linked products are Produced by REC.

SETTING INFORMATION
  • Shipyard's Name: REC-DSS-02 “Besh” Station.
  • Station Model: Overhauled Imperial Navy Deepdock.
  • Classification: Deep Space Shipyard.
  • Location: Sarapin System - Core Worlds; Off the Corellian Run.
  • Affiliation: Republic Engineering Corporation - Starships and Robotics Division(s.)
  • Population: Moderately Staffed.
  • Demographics:
    • 20% Humans.
    • 70% Droids.
    • 10% Other (Xenos Lifeforms.)
  • Accessibility: Private Access - While "Besh" station isn’t hidden, it’s heavily isolated from the prying eyes of society and stands alone amongst the stars. The location of the facility is kept a secret from those that aren’t affiliated with Republic Engineering, and unsuspecting void-bound trespassers are redirected away from the station - provided they haven’t struck a financial accord, prior to their arrival. Due to its location, near the Corellian Run, the station is well within the bounds of replenishment - and suffers from the odd pirate raid, whenever they muster up enough courage to sally forth from their hideouts. To this end, the Republic Engineering Corporation had seen fit to establish several patrols along their supply lines and base one of their cruisers in orbit around the station, to better secure their deep-space assets.
  • Description: REC-DSS-01 "Besh" Station is a sprawling facility that constitutes three massive, modular, drydocks around a central bulbous spire. Like many deep-space installations, it’s surface comprises of entirely durasteel plating, broken only by the myriad glasteel viewports meant to deprive the station of its aesthetic monotony. Sensor and communication towers jut out of the machined surface, giving the overhauled station an inorganic appearance that mirrored those who created the station in another age. While travel is restricted in the space surrounding the station, dozens of vessels - either emblazoned with the blazing orange sigil of the Republic Engineering corporation, or those voidcraft that are affiliated with the Corporation - fill the stars in a constant flurry of motion; either delivering supplies to the station or protecting it from those that would do the installation harm.
OPERATIONS INFORMATION
  • Production: Civilian and Military Starships up to ~1,000 Metres.
    • Starfighters and Small Craft,
    • Corvettes,
    • Frigates,
    • Cruisers.
  • Specialty: Starships, and Robotics.
  • Output: Optimal- Due to the Standardized Design(s) of REC Vessels, and the extreme automation of the construction process, "Besh" Station is capable of pumping out warships marginally faster than similar stations, crewed solely by Organic personnel.
    • Designs and Build Times may vary.
      • Starfighters and Small Craft: ~ Several Days (Approximately.)
      • Corvettes: ~ Two Weeks (Approximately.)
      • Frigates: ~ Two Months (Approximately.)
      • Cruisers: ~ Four Months (Approximately.)
  • Market: Intergalactic - "Besh" Station produces innumerable Starships for Clients across the Galaxy, as the Station remains Autonomous and Outside the various Political Shifts transpiring within the Core Regions.
POINTS OF INTEREST
  • Central Spire: Serving as the primary structure for the overhauled Imperial Deepdock, the Central Spire houses dozens of habitation units for the sentient beings that were assigned to oversee the facility’s operation. It was within these spartan durasteel corridors that the central computer core can be located, and allows for the entirety of the facility to be operated by an enslaved artificial consciousness. While it was dangerously close to artificial intelligence, the central core was nothing more than a droid overseer - allowing the organic beings to live comfortably in the depths of space, and keep the station running at peak efficiency.
  • Automated Droid Foundry: Much like their facilities on Coruscant, the Automated Droid Foundry integrated into the Central Spire, was capable of producing, repairing and housing the entirety of the station’s automated workforce. Within its durasteel halls, there is nary an organic being to be found - as the company’s regulations strictly forbid any employee to wander into the automated foundries unattended, due to the massive risks to personal safety.
  • Modular Work Bays: As was intended, the overhauled shipyard was outfitted with several modular work bays, or slips as they were colloquially known, which allowed for the manufacture or maintenance of starships in the cold embrace of the void. "Besh" station is no different from its previous incarnation and houses three of these vast, modular drydocks. Two of the installation’s void-bound berths were capable of producing vessels that ranged from starfighters to top-of-the-line cruisers, whilst the third portion of the facility was dedicated to the production of battleships and their cousins within the star destroyer-line.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION
When the Galactic Civil War raged on, the Imperial Navy found itself in need of mobile shipyards to keep their various task forces, and squadrons, well-equipped to face the burgeoning Rebel threat.

These adequately named, Deepdocks, would permit the Imperial Navy to keep pace with the ever-fading fleets of the Rebel Alliance and maintain some semblance of a supply line when chasing their prey away from friendly harbours. When the war ended in the Rebel’s favour, birthing the New Republic - and later the Galactic Alliance - many of these Imperial deep docks were captured and repurposed for the fight against the shambling remnants of the Galactic Empire. This process of conversion continued throughout the ages until the Galaxy was beset by the Gulag Plague - darkening the light of civilization for nearly four centuries. As that light began to return to the forefront of galactic affairs, many of these installations laid out in the depths of space - alone and ripe for the taking.

Thus, the Republic Engineering Corporation sought out the station that would one day be renamed into "Besh." They utilized the various scraps of information that had survived the successive calamities that beset sentient life and cross-referenced them with the information gathered from the archives of the reformed Galactic Republic, and the One Sith thereafter. When they located the abandoned station, the Corporate Security forces began sweeping its dormant corridors to ensure the suitability of the facility, and that nothing saw fit to make it it’s home during the absence of sentient life. As nothing was found, like "Aurek" station before it, the Corporation began the massive effort of overhauling the ancient station to modern standards - and like their previous incarnation - set about converting it to the Company’s cause.

When the Galactic Alliance had fallen, under the predatory gaze of the Sith Empire, "Besh" station watched from afar as one of its worst customers fell prey to a mightier stellar empire. In the aftermath of the twinned pincers of betrayal and conquest, the station was relatively left alone by the roving Sith-Imperial forces - as they saw little need to destroy an unaffiliated facility operating in the depths of space. With the deep dock left to its own devices, the Republic Engineering Corporation carried on with its production queue, and unrelenting vigil - as throngs of pirates gathered in nearby systems.
