Strengths:
  • Chromosome Resilience: An improvement over their predecessors, each subject has their telomeres lengthened and strengthened with recombinant telomere cell therapy, their telomeres maintain optimal length with little degradation protecting their chromosomes from damage. The other augmentations they receive in combination with this leads their bodies to be unnaturally resilient to the effects of ageing and thus they can live for several centuries or millennia death or injury notwithstanding. Subjects who are thus augmented can potentially accumulate several centuries of combat experience without deterioration due to ageing.
  • Musculoskeletal Augmentations: Each subject physically augmented under Project: Revenant exhibits massively increased muscle mass, density and connective tissue strength. This manifests outwardly as being capable of lifting anywhere between three to five times their own body weight, can strike with enough force to shatter a Human sternum, run at speeds in excess of fifty-five kilometres per hour backed by phenomenal cardio-vascular power granting strength and endurance that far surpasses that achievable by a Baseline Human Athlete. To tolerate the extreme stress generated on their skeleton and joints they’ve been chemically mutated becoming so durable they’re practically unbreakable.
  • Immune System Augmentations: Project: Revenant significantly bolsters the immune response through a variety of modifications made to the circulatory and endocrine system to the point where toxins, poison and chemicals regardless if they are airborne or blood-borne that would cripple or kill a Baseline Human can at the least be resisted and at best ignored. As a novel drawback, like their Predecessors subjects augmented under Project: Revenant are incapable of becoming inebriated through the consumption of alcohol or intoxicated through the use of recreational spices although they can still become intoxicated through the administration of powerful painkillers.
  • Nervous System Augmentations: Their reaction time has been reduced by an approximate 300% to the point where the Subjects augmented under Project: Revenant report that they can clearly perceive the individual blades on a propeller shaft moving at several thousand revolutions per minute as an example. To observers, their reactions appear to be a form of pre-cognition as the subjects can perceive body language and movement that is undetectable.
Weaknesses:
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation: Subjects who graduate Project: Revenant cannot receive field Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation due to the nature of their skeletal augmentations which make their bones practically unbreakable. Making it difficult to provide medical treatment where consciousness has been lost and heart stopped.
  • Easily Identifiable: Physically the graduates of Project: Revenant are easily distinguishable from Baseline Humans with heights far exceeding the Human average and robust physiques that Dwarf the capabilities exhibited by the mightiest baseline Human athletes and weightlifters. This flaw is additionally exploitable with the use of hand-held scanning equipment, which can rapidly reveal the additional and replaced organs within their physiology.
  • Excessive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: Due in part to their significantly enhanced nervous system and the inherent vulnerabilities of organic material to high-frequently short-burst electromagnetic pulses, the graduates of Project: Revenant can experience excessive transcranial magnetic stimulation resulting in any of the following: seizuring, sudden and short duration unconsciousness, temporary impairment of memory, transient hearing loss, unexplained mania and transient albeit intense discomfort and pain. In short, stun settings on blasters are very effective and unshielded exposure to electromagnetic pulses can result in unconsciousness.
  • Limited Production: Due to the prohibitive cost of their augmentation procedures, augmented subjects are an excessively rare sight and Non-Player Characters who feature the augmentations must have a dedicated profile.
  • Nerve Agents: Nerve Agents attack the nervous system itself and not even the impressive augmentation provided by Project: Revenant confer resistance or immunity to active nerve agents except for the promise that they might be able to survive exposure longer and recover faster upon receiving advanced medical care than a Baseline Human.
  • Pain: Unlike their predecessors, the subjects augmented under Project: Revenant have normal responses toa painful stimulus and can be crippled or disabled by injuries that would be considered severe or mortal by a normal Human such as skeletal fracturing or dismemberment.
  • Sensory Overload: Graduates of Project: Revenant are left with Superhuman levels of taste, visual acuity & colour perception, touch, scent, and hearing. And this can be used against them in some situations; particularly in the form of acoustic/sonic weaponry where sound usually considered discomforting can be quite painful to unprotected ears and highly disorientating. Force lightning is such an ability which will inflict crippling amounts of pain.
  • Soft Tissue Injuries: There is a risk that injuries and over-exertion can strain or sever the subject's soft tissue such as ligaments or tendons which could serve to immobilise or disable limbs which can have debilitating implications for survivability in high-intensity combat or close-quarters fighting.
DESCRIPTION
"The goal of this improved procedure? Reduce mortality and augmentation rejection to under two
percent and eliminate the psychological instability caused by certain unethical procedures performed on the nervous system. Sadly we expect this increased psychological stability to be balanced by higher casualties in future projections especially as the number of operational Death Troopers increases and the demands for their capabilities multiply exponentially.”

-Anonymous Human Physician

Project: REVENANT is a Human physiological augmentation procedure ordered by the First Order Security Bureau who worked in direct consultation with the First Imperial Medical Service and Apex Manufacturing to develop the procedure. The Impetus for the Project was due to the negative observed effects of Project: AFTERLIFE the first such augmentation procedure of its’ type developed to create the First Imperial’s initial classes of Augmented Supersoldiers. Project: AFTERLIFE was a large success and the soldiers it produced were simply without peer, however. The resultant mental instability caused by their augmentations rendered such soldiers reliant on the constant availability of Counter-Mutagen stims to maintain combat effectiveness and unit health which was deemed as unacceptable. Project: Revenant suitability is assessed based on genome data provided on the potential candidates. Project: REVENANT like Project: AFTERLIFE has strict gene criteria which is necessary to ensure physiological acceptance of the physiological augmentations. The strict genetic requirements of Project: REVENANT leaves very few among the Human population as genetically suitable to undergo the pre-procedure treatment and training necessary to prepare their bodies for augmentation.

The treatment begins with pre-augmentation gene therapy which turns each candidate into a picturesque baseline Human in terms of their genetic strength and malleability, it additionally has the novel characteristic of altering the subject’s outer appearance by changing the dominance of certain genes and thus shifts in hair colour and eye colour are not uncommon. The Gene Therapy that each candidate receives includes recombinant telomere cell therapy permitting their telomeres to maintain optimal length and prevent chromosome deterioration giving each subject a potential lifespan of at least several centuries and potentially reaching millennia death from injuries notwithstanding. The recombinant telomere therapy represents a massive improvement in longevity over Project: AFTERLIFE, it is speculated that after decades of combat experience each ‘Revenant’ will eventually be capable of overcoming their physiological superiors with sheer experience.

Project: REVENANT’s augmentation procedure moved away from surgical techniques and utilises chemical-based techniques more extensively, the result was reduced risk of augmentation rejection by about 54% bringing the catastrophic failure rate to about 2% of all subjects massively increasing patient safety during the procedure. It also permitted an expansion in the pool of candidates by relaxing the physical and genetic requirements somewhat although not to the point where such augmentations could ever hope to be produced in quantities enough to make the recipients a strategic weapon capable of turning the tide of wars alone. It is also the hope that subjects who might have been disabled by augmentation under Project: AFTERLIFE be successfully rehabilitated with Project: REVENANT’S significantly safer chemical augmentations.

Skeletal reinforcement and osteogenesis; the generation of new bone, is a necessary part of the Revenant augmentation procedure. Without it the stresses generated by the subject’s muscles would crush their own skeleton into pulp. To strengthen the skeleton in the previous Project: AFTERLIFE procedure a comparatively crude method of bonding was used where Stygian Triprismatic Polymer to the skeleton with tiny holes to avoid osteonecrosis and ensure normal circulatory function. The downside of this was it produced subjects who struggled to maintain positive buoyancy and as a result, drowned in liquids a baseline Human would be otherwise capable of surviving within. Under Project: Revenant the candidates receive a chemical infusion of a stimulant that catalyses a ceramic carbide ossification reaction in the entire skeleton making it broader and durable to the point where it is practically unbreakable, the candidates will receive an additional 17.9-55.5cm of stature and experience an increase in weight of a minimum 23.7 Kilograms after all augmentations have been successfully implemented.

Project: Revenant also tackled the issue of increasing muscle mass and density in a new intuitive fashion. Geneticists and Chemists produced a synthetic fibroid-type muscular protein complex stim that upon infusion with the subject’s body increased the density of muscles and strength of connective soft tissues by three-hundred per cent achieving strength that far surpasses anything that would otherwise be achievable by Baseline Human physiology without significant cybernetics or Biochemical and Surgical Augmentation. As a general rule an average graduate of Project: Revenant can lift three times their own body mass and can run at sustained speeds in excess of fifty-five kilometres per hour, it is estimated a graduate of Project: Revenant could run at top speeds at around one-hundred and eight kilometres per hour with powered exoskeleton assistance at the risk of severing delicate connective tissues in their lower body.

The entire aim of Project: Revenant like Project: Afterlife is to turn Humans into an Interstellar Superpredator without peer, and such a predator would need to be capable of hunting through both day and night. To remedy the rather disappointing performance of the Human eye all subjects undergo a minimally invasive surgical procedure and then receive an infusion of a chemical mutagenic retina flow inversion stabilisation stim to inverse the blood flow through the occipital capillaries at the front of the brain where images are processed. The result of this is massive increases to colour perception and visual acuity permitting the subject’s cones and rods to flex and focus efficiently in low-light conditions like a nocturnal predator and read contract fine print across impressive distances that would otherwise prove an insurmountable obstacle for a Baseline Human.

Like their predecessors all the subjects of Project: Revenant exhibit anecdotal increases in intelligence and an average measured reduction in reaction time by 300%, this is achieved through the introduction of a Mutagen stim that alters the properties of the subjects’ cerebrospinal fluid that results in wild myelinogenesis where Myelin sheaths that protect the electrical signals that command the body are optimised and thickened to protect the ‘commands’ being sent around the body allowing them to pass throughout the nervous system at a frightening speed. To observers subjects augmented under Project: Revenant move with a disturbingly beautiful elegance, precision and grace while to the graduates of Project: Revenant the world can be forced to pass so slowly in their eyes that the individual propeller blades on a turboprop shaft moving at several thousand revolutions per minute can be perceived clearly.

Several organs within the body are either modified or replaced to accommodate for the massively increased physical performance of Project: Revenant graduates. This includes the implantation of three bio-fabricated lungs and are bonded with a surfactant-polymer material that dramatically increases the body’s ability to absorb and distribute oxygen into the bloodstream, the new third lung introduced into the thoracic region exclusively processes airborne toxins and gas mixtures. Numerous circulatory system improvements are incorporated, such as a synthetic rybcorase-derived polymer weave that is implanted into the pericardium of the heart dramatically increasing its’ capacity to pump blood efficiently. Average resting heart rate in post-procedure testing is typically under thirty beats per minute at rest and maximal-exertion working heart rates rarely exceed one-hundred beats per minute.

Through chemical mutagenesis and gene therapy the Chondrocytes, cells responsible for clotting are altered dramatically increasing their efficiency permitting subjects to recover from injuries with little or without medical treatment that would otherwise kill a Baseline Human. Increasing circulatory system efficiency even further is the implantation of several shunts permitting more effective movement of fluid through the Human body, reducing the distance travelled significantly allowing optimal oxygenation and Chondrocyte movement which allows subjects to maintain peak circulation under high gravitational forces and exsanguination to be stifled swiftly.

The endocrine system is completely rebuilt with the Pancreas being replaced entirely by a bio-fabricated organ that ensures optimal hormone release into the bloodstream and aids in fine-tuning the subjects’ metabolic performance to efficiently break down and digest food consumed by the subject and maintain healthy blood sugar and insulin levels within the circulatory system. The subjects’ kidneys like the pancreas are replaced entirely by bio-fabricated organs that serve to filter potentially harmful blood-borne toxins and diseases before they can cause symptoms or damage. Intestinal bacteria are chemically mutated, increasing the efficiency at which the body extracts and absorbs more nutrients from food which proved necessary for fueling the enhanced physiology of the subjects.

As an improvement over Project: Afterlife all of the Project: Revenant subjects receive a surgically implanted discrete sub-dermal neural interface device at the base of their skull that reaches to their midbrain which permits the subjects to interface directly with compatible machines and computer systems without the need for manual control. The Neural Interface Device additionally doubles as an Identify-Friend-Foe system and tracking device that can used to locate augmented subjects unless the signal is obstructed by several meters of rock and stone as an example. Functionally the Neural Interface Device increases the efficiency of input data moving from the person’s motor cortex to their powered armour and as a result, their imperceivably short reaction time when entombed in their armour is shortened further.

Following the success of all augmentations, the subjects are permitted to heal and receive physical therapy for a period of two weeks to aid in the physiological acclimatisation to their new abilities, following this initial physical therapy period the subjects then undergo cloned dermal grafting to remove any scar tissue as a result of the Surgical portions of the procedure. Their biological profile is then recorded and filed with their pre-augmentation biological profile stored by Apex Manufacturing and/or their treating physician in the event rehabilitation or organic prosthesis are required due to procedure complications or battlefield injury. Like their predecessors, it is expected that the subjects will become more dangerous with time as their physiologies adapt. Thanks to the valuable data collected from Luther Ando’s rehabilitation and the procedures used to remove his augmentations Apex Manufacturing have devised an expensive and painfully difficult surgical procedure involving copious amounts of cloned tissue that could be used to ‘De-augment’ a subject in extreme circumstances.

Apex Manufacturing secured the intellectual property and many staff related to Project: REVENANT following the fall of the First Order in the early 850s and from there continues to market and administer the augmentation procedure to wealthy clients who can afford the service and provide ongoing support for those who have received the physiological enhancement. Further development of Project: REVENANT includes its' use as a means to correct hereditary and congenital diseases among infants and children with the chemical and surgical augmentation regimen being delivered or administered up to adolescence. Interestingly enough, Project: REVENANT is significantly safer for pre-adolescents to receive than post-adolescents.

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
  • 22/12/2020:
    • Added weakness in relation to soft-tissue injuries.
    • Added flavour text about Project: REVENANT being used to treat/correct hereditary and congenital diseases in infants and children, opening up the possibility for young persons to be augmented for character biographies and post-adolescent characters.
    • Corrected affiliations to distinguish individual characters who have been augmented versus organisations who can use the submissions or have used the submission in the past.
    • Removed "DT Augmentation classes" As the technology is no longer exclusive to the First Order.
    • Removed significant amounts of First Order flavour text to make the submission more "faction neutral" to represent its' wider availability and custodianship by Apex Manufacturing in the current story landscape.
    • Removed the weaknesses of the submission related to the force as I deemed it too limiting on writer creativity in relation to character development. Additionally, the weakness has had no observable value in regards to mitigation or aggravation on "powergaming" by so augmented characters.
  • 29/12/2020:
    • Added and fixed "manufacturer" field added "designer" field, added informal names and modified "legal status" field.
    • Reduced the cost of the augmentation procedure dramatically given that it has been in IC production and development for approximately 14 years now.
  • 24/01/2021:
    • Fixed broken links in product information.
  • 02/02/2021:
    • Fixed broken Project: AFTERLIFE hyperlink in sources.
    • Fixed broken "First Imperial Medical Service" hyperlinks.
  • 11/02/2021
    • Added market status.

Firstly I've got to say this is a beyond impressive submission, I love it. You've obviously put a lot of thought and effort into this and it shows.

There are just a few areas I'd like to bring your attention to.

Kyli DT-6767 said:
Bio-Indefinite Mortality: An improvement over their predecessors, each subject has their telomeres lengthened and strengthened with recombinant telomere cell therapy. The other augmentations they receive suspends the subject’s bodies in its’ current biological state their cells not ageing making each of them biologically immortal giving the First Imperial Military a soldier who will gain more and more training and experience without losing their physical capabilities due to ageing.
The general rule of thumb we don't do technology which allows for immortality, you can extend your life but the wording here allows for effective immortality. I'd recommend looking at the wording here and perhaps reducing it to an extended life instead of biological immortality.

The second thing is a matter of balance, you're creating enhancements for up to 45 people, but out of all your weaknesses, only one would be effective in PvP. This is a limited submission and you can get away with a goodly amount of enhancements, but I'd look at it again and add a few more weaknesses that could be exploited by an opponent or decrease the production level to prevent any problems you might run into later.

Please tag me back when you've had a chance to think about it to let me know what it is you want to do so we can move you on to approval.

As mentioned in a previous post, The site does not allow immortality even if by a Biological form of altering Genetic DNA and the such. This will have to be edited to be "Reduces the aging process." of some form.

Since you do mention cybernetics that have been introduced to the system, is there a chance for EMP, and Ion weaponry to cause more damage to their systems, or cause some kind of failure?

Material: Stygian-Triprismatic Polymer, Titanium.
These are contradicting one another. Styginan polymers are resistant to scanners, yet you have a weakness of them being able to be detected by just about any kind of scanner.

Kyli DT-6767 said:
The strict genetic requirements of Project: REVENANT leaves approximately nine-hundred of the First Imperial Realm’s Citizens as genetically suitable to undergo the pre-procedure treatment and training necessary to prepare their bodies for augmentation, all subjects within Project: Revenant receive a unique identifier DT-service number that ranges from 1-900 which corresponds to the order in which the First Imperial Medical Service identified their Genetic profile as being suitable.
Is this 900 supposed suitable subjects a fluff piece from which the FO then widdles down the limited number provided of 45 named people within these units? Or are there potentially only 45 active, with the rest of those resulting 900 Waiting in the wings? I ask this because you also mention the 2% failure rate for such subjects with the Chemical induction processes.

Chaos' loading time has been dial-up tier for me up until today. I'll be updating this and working on it towards the end of the month in response to comments and criticism.

If you read the submission you'd realize their bones aren't actually wrapped in Stygium unlike their predecessors and are hardened and strengthened through another method. The artificial characteristics of their skeleton and organs are going to be easy to identify as anomalous with the use of scanners.

Even if they were bonded in Stygium as they were in Afterlife wouldn't the ostensible absence of bones in a Human who obviously has a robust musculoskeletal system be immediately suspicious? That's a dead giveaway Lmao.

The cybernetic components of the augmented organic tissue does not render said organic tissue any more or less vulnerable to the effects of Electric/EMP/Ion effects than any other 'normal' organ, if they were more vulnerable to those effects it would have been included as a weakness.

The language regarding the telomere and chromosomal cell therapy has been made more ambiguous and focused on physical aging rather than throwing around the term 'immortality' to describe their biology.

In regards to the nine-hundred, that figure is the sum total of all Human First Imperial Citizens who meet the stringent genetic criteria to be augmented under Project: REVENANT, it doesn't represent the sum total of individuals who WILL be augmented just the amount who have the appropriate genetic profile to be eligible.

It's entirely a little bit of fluff information, there will only be a maximum of forty-five subjects/characters active as the First Order have only approved forty-five candidates to be trained and augmented as specified in the production information.

Nine-hundred candidates have been identified, Troopers augmented under Revenant have a three-digit DT number ranging anywhere from 1-900 which represents their candidate identification number.

For example "DT-888" would be the eight-hundred and eighty-eighth candidate identified to posses the genetic criteria necessary for augmentation, it doesn't imply that 887 Troopers have been augmented before them, does that make sense?

As of this post only one character augmented under Project: Revenant exists, as the characters are created they'll be amended to the submission for verification and tracking, the First Order as a faction is discerning with the writers who we permit to possess influential or powerful ranks ICly and potent toys.

I read everything. I ask still for clarity sake and to make sure there were no accidents, or mistakes made on either end.

In many cases in the past, there have been people who were influenced through technology that had a weakness to EMP or Ion based weaponry. With so many additions, I was surprised to not see it as any kind of weakness anywhere. The Normal human can still be affected by EMP's should they be powerful enough. I recommend adding even a limited EMP weakness as some of the weaknesses you have listed are fluff or redundant to a degree.

Thank you for explaining. I ask just for clarity.

EDIT:

The Gene Therapy that each candidate receives include telomere lengthening and strengthening suspending each subject in a state of bio-indefinite mortality, a massive improvement in longevity over Project: AFTERLIFE, where it is speculated that after decades of combat experience each ‘Revenant’ will eventually be capable of overcoming their physiological superiors with sheer experience.
This still mentions that the subjects are immortal.

Secondary too this, You have hard numbers on the lively hood for these subjects. Lasting over thousands of years. Either have the submission with the vague terms of "Can live for a very long time due to modifications" or remove it entirely. No submission may allow anyone to become immortal by any means. Even if it is Gene Therapy.

Even if you mention that the test subjects can live for a very long time, Mentioning that they can live for literal thousands of years, when to my knowledge, the only kinds of species that can live for thousands of years are only a handful of species that are banned "Dragons, Celestial, Rataka, Etc" You will have to drastically change the wording in the entirety of the submission, not just where the Strengths are listed.

[member="Auberon"],

No problem! If in doubt ask and all that.

Most of the Revenant's augmentations are largely chemical or derived from purpose-fabricated organs with increased efficiency compared to the ones they replace, the reason for lack of particular weakness to excessive short-burst EMS/EMP attacks is largely due to the fact their 'cybernetic' parts if you will are largely organic and their continued function isn't reliant on circuitry.

Insofar as I know low-energy short-burst waves seen in EMP have very little effect on ordinary Humans, though I do understand that short wavelength high frequency EMP waves can cause high amounts of Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation which could lead to seizures and unexplained fainting. I could add that in as a potential weakness actually thanks for getting me thinking about that.

Apologies for the mistake, I've been distracted with Christmas preparation and work lately so there are times where I'm not as thorough as usual hence why I left the main body of the submission untouched.

If you would like to add that these kinds of higher frequency weapons, could potentially cause more damage to the subjects comparable to your baseline, then it will make this look much more desirable. That is up to you if you wish.

That is fine. I expect many people will be busy over the various holidays this time of the year. Go ahead and skim through your submission and make sure that these are all clear. I only linked the ones that I found, but even I am privy to making mistakes. Take your time and let me know when you get this cleaned up.

[member="Auberon"],

I've gone ahead and added sensitivity and a list of debilitating effects caused excessive electro-magnetic stimulation that comes from the likes of electromagnetic pulses. It was an interesting idea that I agree that it would make for interesting flavour within roleplay, thank you for the suggestion Auberon.

Read through the submission's main body again and believe I've covered off on all the "immortality" content. It looks like it was that one paragraph that I neglected to edit the other night, there doesn't appear to be any other references.

Moved to pre-factory per OP request.

Please remember to include a list of changes made when you tag a member of factory staff to move the submission back to live judgement.

Hey Duckie,

I think this is ready to go matey, changelog has been included for convenience. If there are any issues and I don't reply please have factory staff move it back to pre-factory as I am on LOA at the moment and might be some time until I see and respond to any replies.

Got a few problems though I will not ask for a Cybernetics Template. There is enough data here as is and to complicate the whole thing with each individual implant as this mainly is just a general overview of what it does to a single individual. That said, I would still like one but will not ask for it.

First you need to add in your Market Status please.
