Pirate Enigma (AoC)

Mig_Has_Reminde_Me.png

The galaxy could often be a confusing mess of rumors and hearsay, and for the small band of Mandalorians within the Agents of Chaos it was no different. The big difference this time was this one hit way closer to home. All the way back to Concord Dawn really. Reports and rumors of a corvette with enough firepower to be dangerous to vessels larger than itself. Capable of high speed travel, and to hold a turn with heavier fighters. Along with this, a configeration that seems to match the Mandalorian Enigma-class FAC. Working with a pirate group to attack small freight haulers and smugglers at that.

Convinced that this couldn’t be other Mandalorians, Jai’galaar Gred asked the AoC if they could investigate these reports, and capture the vessel if possible. While there may be some that still question trusting the young Mando’s group, they have gone to the center of these rumors to see if it truly is a captured Mandalorian vessel.

She was working with Mandalorians.

She was working with Mandalorians.

It didn't matter that this was hardly the first time. Had anyone asked her if she'd be working with former Mandalorian Empire Mandalorians a year ago, she would have laughed in their face. But now… Not only was she working with them, but she'd actively pursued them to work together. Made them promises of a Mandalore free of Sith rule. Somehwhere in the back of her mind, Scherezade realized that she was going to have to start keeping a closer tab on the planets she was promising to free. Dathomir, Mandalore, Tatooine… So many others as well. All in the promise for a better future, almost entirely ignoring that the path towards would be awashed with blood.

And here she was again. Not working for the liberation of a planet, not working to vandalize something no one cared about on some planet to stick it to the man, but… Help. Help a clan of Mandalorians get a ship. Sighing, the Sithling took a long sip from her cream mug. She'd warmed it up for a few minutes prior, letting the warm froth form on top. They were traveling once more into an area that was terribly dangerous for them, and this time, to collect a dead ship and bring it back to life.

It was a good distraction for her. With Madalena still in recovery from their fight with the Coalition, Scherezade needed something to take her mind off from the worry she had for her sister. Never before had either of the twins been defeated in battle, and while Scherezade had not exactly lost her own, she didn't quite feel like a winner, could never feel like a winner, when her sister was hurt, or worse.

Her warm drink wasn't helping. Soon, they'd arrive at the coordinates. But until then, she had to find a way to keep her mind off of things. Scherezade looked around the room, half hoping for someone to say or do something.

Jai was sitting, sharpening his Trayc'kal as he waited to arrive. His friends were in the cockpit, Nex being the one who'd hopefully get them into range of the ship. He looked over to [member="Scherezade deWinter"] , still surprised to see her there. She never seemed to be one to like Mandalorians, especially considering what he had researched on her. Yet Scherezade was here. Helping Jai and his clan. It just seemed... weird. The Mandalorian finally spoke up, trying to get an idea for what Scherezade was doing here.

"I always pegged you as hating us honestly." He then looked over. "So what are you doing here?" This was an honest question. He didn't want to end up being thrown into a trap or something. He still hadn't found much data on his clan, so right now he kind of had to trust her.

Armor and weapons and stuff will be posted again once the correct new URL's have been tracked down.

If she were being honest, that was not the type of distractions she had been hoping for. Her mind was frantic though, and Jai'galaar turning to her to open a conversation was, if nothing else, much better than absolutely nothing at all.

He'd always pegged her? She didn't know he had a whole opinion thing about her since the only thing they'd done together literally was vandalize an old abandoned shipyard. Sure, there was some more story there, but they didn't really know each other for a long time. Had he attempted to dig into her past? Did he know the history of his people and hers?

"Hate is such a harsh word,"
she shrugged, "More like, wish to eradicate, glass their world, those kind of things. But not hate."

It was, in her very socially awkward existence, been an attempt at a joke. Perhaps Jai'galaar would get it. She hoped that if he did not, they wouldn't have to start dueling right here just because they had to jump and get a ship. That sort of things tended to make missions harder. Perhaps she should not have said anything at all?

"I am one of the Firsts," Scherezade said a breath later, "Agents of Chaos. This is not an organization run by my family, or whatever its ideology would be, we would not be working together. Ever. At all. My being part of the Agents' means you got to keep your life when we met on Concord Dawn."

Though her words were a brutal truth, (or brutal could-have-been-a-truth since no fight actually happened to show who was the stronger fighter),her voice was light and sort of fluffy. As though she was talking about an interesting book she'd read, or how to best make sausages on a small ship's kitchen corner.

"Have you never heard of the deWinter-Mandalorian blood feud?" she found herself asking with interest.

There were a few things Bacu was good at. He was a hunter, he could fight some of the darkness and… crazy, from beyond the Rim, just as hard as it could fight, and most times, if he was lucky, harder. And when the call came, he could offer his services, mostly to help protect the former Fringe Federation worlds, but also to support the growing Outer Rim Coalition. Still, if there was pay, he’d find himself taking odd jobs, bringing his crew if needed, but mostly just himself.

And a strike at a Mandalorian vessel? That was the sort of stuff the Hunter craved.

Sure, his employer was a Sith, but it seemed like she may be able to find him some good fights. He didn’t care much for Sith, cared less for Mandalorians, but the Mirialan warrior was still accompanying the Agents to... what he hoped was a smash and grab. He didn’t have anything to say in the conversation at hand, rarely to any conversation, and was awaiting the fight. Weapons triple checked before leaving his own ship.

Jai chuckled slightly when Scherezade noted that it wasn't hate, but then described it as pretty much that. An interesting joke to say the least, and he was glad the brothers weren't back there now, or they probably would've started something. He was still surprised as she continued though. deWinter noted that the Agents of Chaos weren't run by her family, and that this was the only reason that she hadn't killed him back on Concord Dawn. When she finished this, the young Mando finally spoke up.

"Really? Then it honestly doesn't seem like the hate you're describing if you let that stop you. Mando'ade have a term for what you described, though it's only between other Mandalorians. Dar'aliit. A "kill on sight" death sentence basically. You don't seem to line up with that mentality." She then asked if he'd ever heard of the deWinter-Mandalorian blood feud. He looked confused at first shaking his head.

"My clan laid low until relatively recently, mostly after the Force user rebellion, so a lot of the politics of the greater part of Mandalorians went over us without too much affect." After deWinter explained everything, Jai would turn to Bacu, giving a questioning look.

"And what about you? Why're you here?" After that, a voice came over the ships intercomms.

"We're almost there. Be ready." Jai looked to deWinter and Bacu, nodding.

"Time for some fun. Remember. This is a capture mission, not a destroyer one if we can help it. We should have the upper hand though."

She made no attempt at hiding the face she made when Jai'galaar said that Mando word. Dar'aliit. It was almost amazing how, despite the centuries of blood feud, she actually knew so little about the Mandalorians and their culture. In truth, she had never really much reason to care; the few friends she had that just happened to be Mandalorians had all been branded as darmanda or however that word was, and weren't exactly classic Mandos anyway.

"Nearly a thousand years ago, my grandmother had a daughter. It was her second child, but it was the first child that she had kept, after consuming her first one to ascend to the ranks of a Lord of the Sith," she explained, "her first daughter was everything she didn't want, yet she tried. She protected her, she kept her safe, she tried to teach her. But my aunt was taken from my grandmother, stolen away by someone from Clan Quendos."

Scherezade paused, pondering on those memories for a moment. There were many things in them, in visions of her grandmother that had been branded into her memories without her consent. She could see her aunt, a child, growing in the cocoon until at the age of three biological months she already looked like a woman grown. There were many emotions that had run through her grandmother then. But love… Was not an emotion she could track in there. Not at all. Shery deWinter Shery deWinter never loved Brumhilda deWinter Brumhilda deWinter . And Scherezade knew it well.

"That was the beginning. My grandmother raged and demanded her daughter back. The clan refused, claiming the girl didn't want to go back. But she was much too young to choose. And then the wars began. First just my mother against that clan, but slowly more clans joined in, and more of our family joined in. The Gulag put a pause to the fighting, but we have not forgotten. The deWinters do not take kindly when their kin are stolen away. Even when my grandmother put her arm up the Clan leader's wife and terminated the life that was in there, it was not vengeance enough. And thus, the cycle continues. You… Me… We're just the newest sprouts into it. And my grandmother would have more reasons to want to murder me if she knew I was working with Mandalorians, and not for the first time."

Turning together with Jai to look at the man that Scherezade had recruited for the mission, it seemed as though the weight of the story was entirely lifted from her, and she smiled.

To Jai, she nodded. He would be leading the mission. She was just here to make people bleed.

Jai looked shocked as deWinter explained everything. What happened, and why there was even a blood feud. The story sounded like some holofilm plot, but it was real. He sighed a little, flashes of what he'd seen coming back to him for a second. He winced again, looking back at Scherezade before answering. Heck.... He couldn't even talk about battle now without... something. He didn't know.

"So, all that time.... Thousands of years.... Doesn't that leave the chance that DeWinter's have fought their own blood, assuming your aunt was reared as a Mandalorian.... I have no way to know, and I don't know if you would either." He really could think of anything else. He had to push some things to the back of his mind right now. He had to focus.

It wasn't long before the ship came out of hyperspace, and soon took a jerky flight path and rough "landing" onto the docking port. Jai, for his part, had been thrown into the floor, and couldn't help but groan as he got up. "Nex! Couldn't have given a warning!?" All he heard was a "Sorry. Had to come in hot to surprise them." Jai just sided, opening the hatch. He stopped, quickly pulling his off hand Trayc'kal out before finally preparing to open the hatch, only for the hatch to open itself and a shot hit Jai's shoulder plate, throwing off his own attempt at a shot.
