- Lightweight construction: The use of Ersteel SLCA and Lamellar poly-carbonite compound grants this vessel a very light weight, which aids in its transport, its speed and maneuvrability and overall handling by pilots.
- Reliable: The fact that most of its components are tried and tested, with most of its electronics being of the single-circuit variety adds a sense of reliability to the starfighter.
- Modular platform: As this is meant to be the basis for a whole range of TIE variations, it has the advantage of being highly modular, allowing engineers and designers to swap out most of its components as they see fit, while also granting a large variety of weaponry options.
- No AI, unlike most of the N&Z ship designs, the TIE/MBP does not have a designated AI installed, meaning that unless it would be added, all variations would require manual control of the vessel and thus require some experience with handling at the very least starfighters of similar size.
- No armament: On its own, the TIE/MBP does not have any weaponry installed, thus without any customization or without any alterations, this barebones platform is best suited as a simple mode of transport.
The TIE/MBP sees its roots in the creation of the TIE/ja and TIE/sb, with these two aforementioned TIE variants being designed and built by N&Z Starworks, it became apparent that since they utilized similar structures and components, it would make sense to build a standardized modular platform for future variations on the TIE theme. Taking inspiration from the Tiber-1 Class Modular Platform and Tiber-II/MP class Modular Starship Superstructure, EnSol engineers were tasked with designing and working out a proper in-house platform which could be used in a large variety of outfits and with a wide variety of adjustments to act as a standardized underpinning for any future N&Z TIE design.
Alas, since the Tandem Impulse Engines were a permitted use only offered to Starworks itself, the N&Z decided to replace both it and the Solar Ionization Reactor with the tried and tested Hermes 760i engines and the inhouse created CHARM reactor. However, since the solar collectors were still retained, any energy collected through these would simply be rerouted to the onboard electronics, acting as a sort of energy saving module, lowering stress and drain on the main reactor.
Due to the barebones design and construction, the TIE/MBP benefits from being extremely lightweight and having all the benefits that come with such a trait, those being speed and maneuvrability.
