New Rules: Rebellions

8wqg.png

Q: What is this?

A: A new set of rules establishing the concept of Rebel Factions and Rebellions, a new game-play mechanic allowing players to seize territory from currently existing Major Factions.

Q: Where can I start a Rebellion?

A: You may start a Rebellion using the "Rebellion" prefix in the Star Wars Open Role-Playing forum once you have created a Rebel Faction or transformed your currently existing Minor Faction into a Rebel Faction.

Q: Where can I discuss a Rebellion?

A: The Rebellion prefix is now available in the Roleplay Discussion & Factions forums.

Q: The current prerequisite for establishing a Major Faction is 7 players. Why is a Rebel Faction's prerequisite only 5 players?

A: We wanted to make it easier to create Rebellions. So yes, the Rebel Faction concept is a fast lane to creating a Major Faction... but you'll have to actually win your Rebellion, first.

Q: I have a currently existing Minor Faction that I'd like to name as my Rebel Faction. Can I do so?

A: Just make sure you hit up an Administrator for permission in a PM, and yes.

Q: Do I have to ask the opposing Faction Leader for permission to start a Rebellion?

A: You don't have to ask them for permission, no. However, it is stated that you do need to at least provide them with a list of objectives, or some sort of plot-centric device to keep the story moving for your Rebellion. Don't start a Rebellion half-cocked.

REBELLION
Definitions:
  • Rebel: Characters belonging to the Rebel Faction.
  • Rebel Faction: A minor faction created to start a Rebellion against a single target Major Faction.
  • Target Major Faction: The Major Faction to whom the Rebel Faction's members belong to and is being rebelled against.
  • Rebellion: A modified Invasion that can occur within the existing Influence Cloud of a Major Faction. Only Rebel Factions can start Rebellions.

Rules:
Label your faction's name, the planet, and the opposing faction in the topic title. Acquisitions will not be awarded if this is not adhered to.

Before a Rebellion begins, the Rebellion Faction must be created and Faction Leaders must convene to discuss how the Rebellion will be handled by both sides to account for fairness and balance. If a compromise cannot be reached please consult a Role-play Judge.

Once approved, a Rebel Faction may contest a Major Faction's planet within their influence cloud. This involves the Rebel Faction's members fighting for control of the planet against the Major Faction's members. The Major Faction must be the one the Rebel Faction is rebelling against.

The winning faction must meet all minimum requirements in order to declare victory.
  • The thread must have a minimum total of 100 posts between both factions.
  • Both factions must have a minimum of 5 members per side. If either faction cannot meet this requirement within 72 hours of the beginning of the Rebellion, that faction forfeits.
Once a Rebellion nears its completion, the Faction Leaders involved in the Rebellion must convene with each other and decide on the victor. If a decision cannot be made, a Roleplay Judge must be privately contacted and he/she will make the final decision.

If the Rebellion fails, then the Rebel Faction is to not perform a Rebellion for 30 days and will need re-approval before relaunching their Rebellion. If the Rebellion succeeds, then the Rebel Faction becomes a Major Faction with the planet that is the scene of the Rebellion becoming the Rebel Faction's Capital.

If the target Major Faction believes that a specific group of Writers have attempted to circumvent the 30 day rule, privately contact a Roleplay Judge.

Rule Page: Requesting Aid:

1. Both the opposing and defending Major Factions in an Invasion/Rebellion thread may request assistance from factions not involved in the thread.

2. A maximum of 10 characters total per side in the Invasion/Rebellion may provide assistance. Each character must be played by a different writer.

3. Character rotations/substitutions are not allowed. Only the first 10 characters to provide assistance per side may do so.

4. Faction Leaders will be held accountable for regulating the number of characters they have assisting their Faction.

5. A character fulfilling an aid request for another Major Faction may not join any more Invasions/Rebellions until the Invasion/Rebellion thread they are aiding in is completed.

@[member="Tefka"] - Say a rebellion is doing an invasion, does it apply the same rules as a normal? Ie a pc cant be in one and another if it happens to spring up?

As with Invasion rules, there is nothing restricting members of the Rebellion other than the Faction Aid Requests... but be mindful of this next snippet.

So if the Rebels win their Rebellion they will only be awarded the place their 'Invasion' is taking place and if they want the rest of their former faction's territory, they would have to invade them all. Correct?
