Rebreather
- Force-Compatible Construction: The armor is designed to function alongside Force use without interference. Movement, perception, and control remain intact while the system is active.
- Gauntlet-Based Nanite Deployment: Armor deployment is centralized through the gauntlet, allowing the suit to assemble fully when activated rather than existing as constant bulk. This preserves mobility until commitment is required.
- Integrated Nanite Shielding: The nanite mass can form a solid forearm shield capable of absorbing or redirecting incoming fire and close-range strikes during critical moments.
- Commitment-Oriented Design: Once deployed, the armor remains active for the duration of the engagement. This removes reliance on reactive cycling and supports sustained confrontation.
- Counter-Field Integration: The system supports localized counter-field technology, allowing the wearer to operate within hostile environments where nullification effects are in play without surrendering mobility.
- Communicate: The Harmonia System allows Srina to communicate with any of the ships of the Sith Order's Legions via telepathy.
- Fixed Deployment State: Once the nanite armor is deployed, it remains active until the engagement concludes. The system is not designed for mid-fight retraction or redeployment.
- Gauntlet Dependency: Armor deployment, shielding, and counter-field functions are all routed through the gauntlet assembly. Significant damage to this component degrades or disables the system as a whole.
- Operational Focus Requirement: Counter-field devices require deliberate positioning and activation. Improper timing or rushed use can reduce effectiveness or temporarily render the system unusable.
- Limited Counter-Field Endurance: Integrated disruption devices have finite operational cycles and require maintenance or reset after extended use, limiting their effectiveness across prolonged engagements.
- Reduced Performance Under Saturation: The armor is built for sustained direct combat rather than prolonged exposure to heavy, continuous fire or layered area denial. Under such conditions, cohesion degrades over time, forcing reliance on movement and pressure rather than endurance.
Gerwald adjusted the gauntlet again, even though he had already checked it more times than he could count. It was a small change. The sort most people would never notice and no report would ever flag. He made it anyway, reran the sequence, and watched the response settle into place. The improvement was slight, but it was there, and that was enough to keep him where he was.
He had already told himself the armor was finished.
More than once.
It rested on the worktable in front of him, quiet and complete by any reasonable standard. It would perform and protect like it was supposed to. Gerwald knew all of that. None of it answered the thought that kept pulling his attention back to the same details.
He pictured Srina wearing it. Not in the middle of a fight, not standing before anyone else. She was just moving, turning, reaching for something without thinking about it. The armor needed to follow her without resistance, without weight pulling where it shouldn’t. She would never complain to him if it didn’t. That bothered him more than if she would have.
So he made another adjustment.
Gerwald had built armor for years. He knew when something was solid and when it was strong. This wasn’t about either of those things. It had to fit her the way things were supposed to fit, without forcing her to adapt around it. If she noticed it at all, he had failed.
He thought briefly of the first time she had carried him when he could not stand on his own. How careful she had been. How steady. She hadn’t made it into something that needed to be talked about. She had simply done what was necessary and moved on. The memory stayed with him longer than most.
The system finished its cycle and the readings held. This time, Gerwald didn’t reach for the tools again.
He sealed the housing and stepped back from the table. The armor remained where it was, ready and waiting.
He didn’t dwell on why this mattered to him. He only knew that if Srina was going to wear something he had made, it would not fight her, slow her down, or demand anything from her. It would move when she moved and hold when she held.
Nothing less would ever be enough.
It had to be perfect for her, always for her.
