  • Rate of Fire: Very High
  • Damage Output: Very High / Extreme (Scatter)
  • Recoil: High
SPECIAL FEATURES
  • Advanced Targeting: The Mk IX employs an advanced targeting and rangefinder system for target acquisition.
  • Alternate Ammo: This weapon is able to use Ion as well as thermal ammunition
  • Class Scalable: This weapon can be equipped to ships from military freighters upward
  • Dual Fire: The Cu can fire consolidated blasts or a conical lattice of blaster rounds.
  • EM Rails: Like many of the House Aquila weapons, the Cu supports an EM rail for rapid swiveling
  • External Ports: The Cu benefits from external ports allowing it to attach to external power / ammo
  • Ion Shielded: The internal systems are shielded from being overloaded by Ion weapons.
  • Phrik B Plating: The outer plating of this weapon is strong synthetic Phrik
  • Shielded: The Cu employs a CROSS in addition to any other shields the ship has.
STRENGTHS
  • Strafing Fire: The Cu is capable of firing controlled concentrated blasts at long ranges which are capable of dealing impressive hybrid concussive and thermal damage to shields and structures. However, at short range a system can be engaged which splits the rounds into a spreading lattice of fire whose combined strength eclipses the damage potential of the singular blasts should they all hit their targets. These scatter-gun cannons are extremely effective at shooting smaller vehicles or projectiles or dealing wide-spread damage to large targets should many individual projectiles hit.
  • Armour Penetration: Masers are somewhat famous for being able to tear through shield systems and hulls with its hybrid Kinetic / Thermal Damage. While the scatter-gun configuration of this weapon relies on multiple projectiles hitting for its outstanding damage. The consolidated blasts at their rate of fire are very proficient at penetrating armour due to the purified Tibana gas of the highly charged blasts.
  • Alternate Ammunition: The mk IX is able to be loaded with either a standard battery system to charge its ammo or an ion battery, allowing it to deal its damage as Thermal / Kinetic, or Ion / Kinetic in order to be more effective in combat.
  • Rapid Fire: The Cu in preparation to fire its powerful salvos pre-charges large sums of purified Tibana gas as it makes its way en route to the roaring cannons of the weapon system allowing it to fire much more rapidly than other systems which charge their ammunition in preparation of each shot.
  • Shielded: To defend itself the weapon, using its own excess energy while charging employs a CROSS one way shield system in conjunction with any other shields which may surround the ship or fortification that its situated on in order to protect it from heavy weapons.
  • Advanced Targeting Systems: Thanks to the efforts of Freebirds Industries this weapon is linked with predictive targeting and long range sensors to better engage enemies at long distances over entire battlefields. In conjunction with magnetic rails which allow the weapon to swivel at much faster speeds than other turrets the Cu is capable of tracking even some fighter craft.
WEAKNESSES
  • Wind Up: When activated for the first time, this weapon requires some moments in order to charge these weapons to full power without additional support systems, meaning that it finds it difficult to respond rapidly with maximum force against ambushes.
  • Overheat: While this weapon fires in its scatter-gun configuration, the mouths of this weapon overheat rapidly, warping and damage the weapon over time if they're allowed to fire in long continuous streams for more than a minute or so. Meaning that putting pressure on these guns can cause them to lose their accuracy before potentially causing critical system failure or even backfiring.
  • Ion Prone: Although the weapon is shielded against Ion attacks, Ion blasts hitting the ship around the weapon can shut down the CROSS system and cause the system to require to be rebooted, giving attacking ships necessary windows of opportunity.
DESCRIPTION

The art of war necessitates the ability to adapt due to environment. Whether it be dealing with an opponent charging you from higher ground, being on the other side of a great wall or rift, or fighting you up close or from afar. This philosophy was built into the Mk IX Cu. The Cu was built with the ability to create a predictable energy lattice allowing it to divide large amounts of energy in conical blasts much like that of a scattergun. The individual blasts, should all of them connect on a large surface are capable of dealing incredible damage to large structures or shields while the singular bolts of the weapons' standard configuration are proficient at punching holes deep into objects and structures.

Boasting a High rate of fire for a weapon in the same class as a light turbolaser with advanced targeting and an EM rail for rapid swiveling rather than the standard hydraulic or mechanical swivels allow these weapons to keep pace with and track fast moving craft. This in conjunction with the mass producible Phrik armour plating and a built in CROSS, these units whether they be built as an AA battery or a weapon on a capitol ship, affords it exceedingly high defense as well as offense.

However, due to it pre-loading its ammunition the weapon and the high sum of power fired through its broad shots in its scatter configuration, the Cu is prone to overheating, its barrels warping and even catastrophic weapon failure if the triggers are held down for more than a few minutes. Meaning that in long drawn out conflicts the weapon has to stagger its blasts or else it will cease to function and even damage the structure around it.

You arre one point over in the ratings, while the alternate fire modes are fine and I am all for it. It should remain balanced as the highest ratings are used when multiple are in an area.
Uhm are you sure / K Kras ?

minor, large, heavy, high recoil is 4. With 2 very high is 4.

During Scatter a damage goes to extreme (+1) but range falls to personal (-1). So it's balanced at all stages.

I agree if you just see a rating of high/V high on its own you take the highest value for balance (otherwise a person is getting away with an extra point). But this way there is no extra point.

Is that OK?
