Flight of Kraujas Arana over the city of Helvall on Amaltanna

OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
GENERAL INFORMATION
  • Name: Kraujas Arana
    • Kraujas Arana is ur-Kittat, the language of the Sith, for Blood Angel.
  • Designation: Sentient
  • Origins:
  • Average Lifespan:
    • Given the average lifespan of a typical Echani is roughly the same as Human, estimated between 100 to 120 Galactic Standard Years, the augmentations and sorcerous alterations caused by the Changing Ceremony have increased their average lifespan to roughly 150 Galactic Standard Years.
  • Estimated Population: Planetary
    • The majority of the population of Kraujas Arana are centered on the world of Amaltanna, originally being the result of alchemical and sorcerous experimentation by the Lady of Secrets and her followers. In recent years, small flights of the species have emigrated to other worlds connected to the Sith, such as Jutrand, Korriban, Ziost, and Dromund Kaas to name a few, either in service to a powerful Sith or to guard a location of significance to the dark side.
  • Description:
    • Beautiful and ethereal, dangerous and combat obsessed, the Kraujas Arana are a personification of the dark side twisting even symbols of good. These angelic beings, borne upon the air with wings that seemed permanently stained with blood, wield weapons and powers of darkness to better hone themselves into the strongest warriors they can be.

Newly formed Kraujas Arana Handmaiden

PHYSICAL INFORMATION
  • Breathes: Type I
  • Average Height of Adults:
    • Typically, the average height of a Kraujas Arana is roughly 2 meters, although the strongest of their species have been observed to stand roughly 2.5 meters tall, suggesting the original subject's capabilities and genetics could be a determining factor in the height of their new form.
  • Average Length of Adults: N/A
  • Skin color:
    • The skin color of a typical Kraujas Arana is pale, almost ethereal, white as a callback to the original Echani specimens used in their creation. However, in recent years, a larger spectrum of skin colors has begun to develop as a more diverse pool of subjects have been deemed worthy by the Matriarchs to join their ranks.
  • Hair color:
    • Universally, all Kraujas Arana have pure white hair with flecks of crimson symbolizing the blood used in their creation typically appearing at the ends of their hair or as a streaks. The Order of Arcane Syn alchemists have theorized that the hair pattern or color of the original subject, before the Changing Ceremony, can affect how the red coloration appears within their newly bleached coloration.
  • Distinctions:
    • The most distinctive physical traits of the Kraujas Arana, besides being a strictly female species, are their large wings that appear permanently blood-stained and their almost universally white hair, although some exceptions have been noted. Older Matriarchs of the species have also developed near pitch black eyes, a disconcerting feature when combined with their beauty.
  • Races:
    • Ardasa Arana - The result of some Kraujas Arana being exposed to the energies of the Netherworld, typically around established portals such as the Warlock Gate on Dathomir or those Arana that serve the Dark Valkyries of the Kainate, and mutating into a form that can better channel the potent energies of life and death.
    • Ayitatsa Arana - The result of some Kraujas Arana having an innate connection to the feelings of avarice and jealousy that can fuel aspects of the dark side, altering their appearances and their abilities to form deals and connections that bind others to them in a web of debts and reliance.
    • Totia Arana - The result of some Kraujas Arana being overcome by their love of battle and rage while guarding and containing the corruption on the planet Elrood, mutating into a more ferocious form.
    • Kraujas Yirmiti - The result of the Changing Ceremony going awry, whether it is because of a failure on the part of the Matriarch performing the rite or an unforeseen complication from the subject, these bloody-colored fusions of women and birds of prey serve their fully ascended sisters as guardians and bestial frontline attackers.
  • Force Sensitivity: All
    • Due to the initial creation process of the species involving the uplifting and transformation of Force Sensitive Echani, each member of the species is able to wield the Force to some degree and can be further trained in its usage, although innate knowledge of some abilities were imprinted onto each angelic being upon the Changing Ceremony being completed. As their community matured, and the Changing Ceremony was refined, the subjects no longer needed to be Echani, but still required at least some level of Force Sensitivity to even be deemed worthy of joining the Kraujas Arana truly.
Strengths:
  • Gifted knowledge through the original Changing Ceremony created by the Lady of Secrets and her alchemists, each member of the Kraujas Arana have a few innate Force Power abilities they can access. In addition to these imprinted abilities, they have a powerful connection to the dark side and can even be further trained as students by Sith. The imprinted abilities they have access to are:
    • Force Rage
    • Force Corruption
    • Enhance Attribute
    • Sith Magic
    • Sith Alchemy
      • The innate knowledge for Handmaidens and Daughters only extends to the ability to forge and infuse the dark side into their chosen weapons and armor. Upon ascension to Matriarch, the Kraujas Arana is also able to perform the Changing Ceremony upon those they deem worthy to create a new Kraujas Arana Handmaiden.
      • As an unintended consequence of the alchemy and sorcery that warped them and imparted their innate abilities, Arana also have been observed mutating into new forms if they have prolonged exposure to other Force energies such as those of the Netherworld or if they come to embody different aspects of the dark side such as greed.
  • Due to their Echani origins and the subsequent development of their culture in a mirror of the Echani matriarchy and worship of combat, Kraujas Arana are exceptionally capable warriors. Whether it is wielding their alchemized weapons or even utilizing their bare hands, they are extremely skilled in many combat techniques and traditions, especially those of the Echani in honor of their heritage.
  • Through the Changing Ceremony, the alterations result in enhanced durability and strength for each individual Kraujas Arana, with even the newest Handmaidens being able to overpower a Wookiee or Whiphid in sheer strength. As they grow older and mature into Daughters and Matriarchs, they only grow stronger and more resistant to injury.
  • Through the Changing Ceremony, each Kraujas Arana is able to sustain flight for prolonged periods of time due to their large and powerful wings.
  • Through the Changing Ceremony, as an addition from the Lady of Secrets, each Kraujas Arana has a siren's call that allows them to manipulate the weak-willed and force them to serve, lulling them into a pliant state where they can shape them into extremely loyal devotees and servants.
Weaknesses:
  • If subjected to an ysalamiri void bubble or other Force suppressing materials or techniques such as void stone, the Kraujas Arana lose access to their Force abilities until they are unable to escape the field suppressing their powers. In addition, if they are subject to intense bursts of Force Light or other offensive applications of the Light side of the Force, their powers will be stunted until they recover from the attack and they will receive moderate injury, whether it be physical or spiritual. However, neither of these situations lessen their combat and martial abilities.
  • If the wings of a Kraujas Arana become damaged, they will be unable to fly until the damage heals. This may take anywhere from a few days to weeks depending on the severity of the injury sustained.
  • Enemies that are particularly strong willed or have been trained in Force arts to a level of roughly Knight or higher can easily resist the siren's call of the Kraujas Arana.

Kraujas Arana Daughter

CULTURE
  • Diet:
    • Kraujas Arana are omnivorous sentients, able to consume any typical meal provided through the galaxy. In addition, they can gain nourishment and strength by absorbing the ambient Force energies in their surroundings by entering a trance-like meditation state for roughly an hour to reach full strength.
  • Communication:
    • Kraujas Arana can speak Galactic Basic, the language of the Sith of ur-Kittat, and any other languages the individual knew before they undertook the Proving and Changing Ceremony. As with any sentient being, they can also learn additional languages as they desire through study.
  • Technology level:
    • As a fully sentient Sithspawn species, they can wield Galactic Standard technologies but prefer to utilize the armor and weapons forged by their own hands or by their flights' artificers and armorers. Some flights however, in recent years, have begun incorporating more advanced technologies into their daily routines and their martial tasks.
  • Religion/Beliefs:
    • As a species formed, at least initially, from Echani, the Kraujas Arana have developed a belief system over the last few decades that venerate strength and prowess within the dark side and on the battlefield. As a whole, the Arana view the current Dark Lord of the Sith as a demigod or embodiment of the dark side's will within the galaxy, although as their culture has developed and aged, the individual flights within the Arana have come to worship or venerate individual Sith that align with the ideals on what strength and prowess in the dark side mean. As examples:
      • The Flight of Domination are the Arana most closely associated with the Twice-Emperor Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex and worship him and his dyad pair Darth Prazutis Darth Prazutis directly as an embodiment of power and control that only the dark side can provide.
      • The Flight of the Arcane are the Arana most closely associated with service to Darth Arcanix herself and her family, venerating her as both their Mother and as an embodiment of the power mastery over sorcery and the mysteries of the Force can achieve.
      • The Flight of Death are the Arana that aligned themselves with Darth Moirai Darth Moirai , seeing her as a figure to aspire towards as a powerful guardian of the Netherworld and channeling its powers for themselves.
      • The Flight of Unraveling Fate are Arana that have become closer in belief to Darth Empyrean Darth Empyrean , the Corpse Emperor and the current Dark Lord, venerating him as a figure of unnatural power and death, desiring to become more in line with his vision of a galaxy ruled not by fate but by their own power and choices.
      • The Flight of Fear are Arana that have become more rooted in their loyalty to the Eshan throne worshiping the Varanin family such as Spencer Varanin Spencer Varanin and Quinn Varanin Quinn Varanin as paragons due to their royal ties to Eshan itself and their powers over fear and the mind.
    • The above are just a few examples of how different flights might worship individual Sith Lords and the reasons for doing so, but for any of that to begin to occur, Sith must prove themselves through deeds that they are worthy of veneration and service from the Kraujas Arana. All of these provided examples underline a chief belief of the Arana; through the dark side and aligning themselves with particular Lords and Ladies of the Sith, they become closer expressions of the dark side itself and become stronger warriors to defeat the Light.
  • General behavior:
    • Much like their original Echani templates, the Kraujas Arana have formed themselves into a matriarchal society centered around strength and prowess in both combat and the Force, with each of their communities or, as some might call them, lineages being grouped into flights. The matriarchy is split into three broad tiers:
      • Matriarchs - The strongest and oldest Kraujas Arana, each one of these powerful angelic beings have complete command over their flights. The Matriarchs dictate and evaluate each individual within their flights to the role best suited for them within the flight and provide guidance and, on occasion, an iron-fisted rule. The Matriarchs also fulfill the role of high priestess within their various venerations and worship, each being nearly on par in strength with a full Sith Master. At their fortress-city of Helvall in the Sigrun Peaks of Amaltanna, a High Matriarch rules over the entire matriarchy with the others serving in advisory role. During the Blood Moon of Amaltanna each year, a Matriarch may challenge the current High Matriarch for her throne.
      • Daughters - Beneath the Matriarchs are the Daughters, who are typically seen as warriors and commanders within the flights. It is the responsibilities of the Daughters to maintain both the weapons and armor of their flights and train the Handmaidens to eventual ascend to their ranks as well.
      • Handmaidens - The youngest, weakest, or newest members of a Kraujas Arana flight, they form the vast majority of the Kraujas Arana, serving as frontline warriors of the race in hopes of winning platitudes and gaining strength through combat and succeeding at their assigned tasks within the flight. These are typically the Arana encountered by enemies of the Sith or interlopers found within the mountains on Amaltanna that have strayed into their flight's territory.
    • To be elevated to a new rank within the matriarchy, Arana must defeat enemies of the Sith in great numbers or winning ritualized combat tests administered by the Matriarches every year during the Blood Moon of Amaltanna. These combats are also utilized to determine candidates that wish to join the ranks of the Arana as Handmaidens, known in their culture as the Proving, where candidates fight each other to domination until only a handful are left and are deemed worthy of undergoing the Changing Ceremony.
      • The Changing Ceremony involves the candidate being placed within an alchemical chrysalis formed out of dark side empowered blood and alchemical elixirs that slowly mutate the subject within into a new Arana. This change takes place over a week and involves the Matriarch and her attending Daughters singing in ur-Kittat and shaping the Sith sorcery guiding the mutation process to form a new sister. The process of the Changing Ceremony can be disrupted if the cocoon is broken early enough, but any changes that have taken place cannot be undone, and any interruptions to the ritual can result in a Yirmiti forming instead from the candidate or captive.
    • Most Arana flights view luxuries as frivilous and do not partake, besides symbols and items that better symbolize their flight allegiances and their chosen veneration. However, they do allow themselves some pleasures and entertainment through contests of arms, hand-to-hand bouts, and strategy games such as dejarik. While they are not forbidden from venturing into the other cities and communities on Amaltanna or on other worlds, most Arana view the entertainment and other cultural offerings within them as distractions.

Kraujas Arana Matriarch of the Flight of Storms

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

The initial premise of the project that would become the Kraujas Arana began when Darth Arcanix, the Lady of Secrets, received a large influx of Echani captives from her wife, Fiolette Yvarro Fiolette Yvarro , during one of the many campaigns being fought by the Sith Empire at the time. Arcanix was unsure what she wanted to do with the captives now held on the world of Amaltanna, but eventually, she determined which among them was Force Sensitive and which were not. Her research into sentient Sithspawn creation had begun at this point, and with the legendary reputation of the Echani, she determined they would be ideal candidates for experimentation that could result in powerful warriors for the Sith and the Valkyries formed by Darth Carnifex and led by Darth Avacyn and Darth Moirai.

Obtaining specimens of several avian species such as ravens from Dathomir and banshee birds, the Lady of Secrets and her alchemists began melding and shaping the captives into what would become the first Matriarchs of the new species. Once they emerged from their chrysalises, each woman had become an angelic being, in equal measures beautiful and terrifying, as the initial Changing process turned their eyes black and stained their wings with crimson hues permanently. The new warriors were instructed in their new powers and how to forge their weapons and armor, both by the Lady of Secrets and other trainers from her own power base and dispatched by the Emperor to oversee their training for his Valkyries.

In the decades since their creation, the Kraujas Arana have become a powerful pillar of Amaltanna, ruling an entire province that stretches from their fortress-capital of Helvall in the Sigrun Peaks. Their numbers have greatly expanded over the years, especially as the Changing Ceremony that creates them has been refined by the Matriarchs and the Mother of Monsters, and they have only grown more devoted in their roles as warriors and emissaries of the dark side and the Sith.
