I believe you three specifically are talking about the same concerns. Its not about the bounty toggle either. Its about the interpretation of consent. The bounty toggle is only "problematic" cause it simplifies "consent", But there is no one shared definition or perspective on consent for this system. I think that is the real issue.

Which is 100% valid, sure, cause we all pour time and energy into our characters and their interactions. BUT this is collaborative RP after all and for example: Many unique writers come together, collab all that uniqueness and make a major faction. Major factions are held accountable for the actions of its members as a whole cuz majors represent a consensus , not sole individuals. That would defeat its purpose.

Open threads, public threads and faction threads are also the same concept and there is no expectation of privacy in public. Or at least expectation will be greatly diminished. Once you enter a public space, the story isn't just yours anymore and a "disruption" is not a "violation", it becomes participation.

Im reading that the quality of said"Disruption" or "Participation" matters and i do believe there is a difference between the two. But a fear of narrative loss of control aka "Ownership" is unavoidable in Open RP. You only have the power to React, Adapt and Shift motivations really, unless your in a private thread. IC and OOC, "problems" dont have to just be problems. They can be used as further opportunities and thats the the point of collaboration. The mature part of collaborative RP is the ability to let go of authorship. Which is hilarious because its an illusion when you look at it from this perspective.

Collaborative storytelling is a two way street, and not everyone is down for spontaneous procedural shifts. Checking in advance costs nothing but a little bit of time and courtesy.

Lynch maybe staff could create a place where bounties could be listed. That way if one person gets swamped it doesn’t die? I don’t know if they would do that though or if it would be too much work.

Imo, when I put the bounty toggle on, that is my consent, and my communication of agreeing to being hunted. I love the idea of it spontaneously happening and having no idea when it might, since there would be no warning for something like that IRL either, right? If the BH reached out to me and they want to collaborate first, though? Great.

That said... would I let someone trying to hunt my character disintegrate them in post one? Lmao, no. I will dodge right that all day, every day. I don't mind letting people get their hits in, I wouldn't even mind letting my character get captured if the writing was good and it made sense, but unless I'm ready to kill my character, it's not gonna happen.

I'd also like to add that, I've had the toggle on since I created this character in 2021 and I have never had someone actually try to enter any threads, nor do I actually see it happen. I think I saw it... once? And that was way back in 2017-18? It's a very under utilized feature.

i honestly would love for bounties to be placed more spontaniously just waking up one day and beign like " oh huh guess im wanted by some one" would be an interesting thought and an interesting thing to look into as a " what did i do?" type of beat

Q: Can bounty hunters invade faction or map game threads to go after folks with the toggle on?​

I know the Dominion rules, for example, says other Majors/Minors need permission, but nothing about individuals walking in off the street, Bounty Hunter or otherwise.
