Public How Many Arms Do You See? A Lesson in Vaapaad! (Open to all Jedi!)

Fallon looked at Jax Thio Jax Thio with a query. "Does this require one to accept that they have darkness in their heart, because I do not consider that to be the case of myself?" She spoke honestly, she was a good person, she followed Ashla and her light was reflected in it. She understood that noone was completely innocent or even entirely pure, but if there was even a fraction of darkness inside her it was very well buried under her light.

She smiled at him politely and grabbed her saber out of the air to ignite its blade as some others had already done. She said to the others, "I believe that this form is perhaps not something I shall be able to unlock, but I am a capable duelist and very well practiced at fighting dark techniques so would offer myself for duelling practice if anyone wants to test themselves." There was no sadness or disappointment in her voice. She had been curious about Vaapad for a while, even tempted to learn it, but being here she felt a warm feeling that her force journey was complete enough without it.

"That is correct," Jax nodded when Rath stated that there will always be darkness especially during times of war. "Darkness is part of life we cannot suppress it. It'll be like trying to seal a black hole, it'll just end being a disaster and you'll be consumed."

Jax turned to the students one of them summoned his Lightsaber using a teleportation technique. Impressive. "Slow down my friend," Jax responded to Nir Si with a smile. "One needn't to be so eager. Like I said, if you doubt yourself just for a minute, then you will fall to the dark side."

This Jedi Knight did remind Jax of himself which he found amusing. It was like staring at a mirror of himself. "Master Oda would love him." Jax thought.

He gave a nod to Jayna before turning to Fallon who said she had no darkness inside of her. "An unusual case," Jax said. "But that doesn't mean you cannot draw upon your opponent's darkness and use it as a superconducting loop. You can draw upon the battle itself which creates dark echoes in the Force with each passionate blow and the overall will to dominate an opponent."

Jax smiled at Fallon. "There are many ways to utilize a style," Jax said to everyone. "No single application of Vaapaad will be similar because most of you mastered many Lightsaber forms, how you use Vaapaad will be dependent on how you approach a combat situation."

He paused. "So with that out of the way," Jax said unclipping his Lightsaber. "Let us begin."

In truth, such a way to approach the concept of Vapaad couldn't have been further from the truth. It reminded Rath how Sith from all ranks and backgrounds often boiled down to a singular factor in common. They often fed on strong emotions, whether that was tied to hatred, sorrow, or despair. It didn't matter where the source came from, either to fuel their strength and fortitude, or to siphon the emotions from others. Who was to say that the Jedi couldn't do the same, but to serve as their shield against the darkness rather than view it as a weapon?

In the end, it boiled down how one approached combat. Some were eager to begin, others pondered whether the lesson would benefit them, but Rath did not intervene. Only when Jax unclipped his lightsaber from the belt did Rath do the same for his. The Shroudsaber rested comfortably into his grasp. For too long, the weapon had been the instrument and conductor of deeds and atrocities that Rath couldn't claim to be proud of. The countless lives, no matter what faction or background, had met their end by Rath's hand. He could feel the shades in the Force stir within his chest, but the warrior pushed them aside for the time being. For he wasn’t the same man that called upon the dark corners of the Force nor used souls to fuel his prowess.

He doesn't ignite the blade just yet, for Rath was more curious as to how the Jedi trained. It was very different from what he was used to. Ordinarily, it'd involve something life threatening, and often at a major disadvantage on the learner's part to cultivate strength. Instead, what Rath had learned from the Sith, it was far easier to predict when the opponent was driven by anger. For it made them sloppy and reckless in exchange for what they believed to be strength. But there were some who learned to temper that hatred into something more fearsome. Something that even mirrors would crack from the void in their hearts.

While he was looking around at who was responding to what Jax had just said, and who wasn’t, he was surprised at the Jedi “Fallon” outright saying this was not for her. Perhaps she interpreted that this was purely the form of the Dark Side. It was not evil, just a shortcut in his eyes. While he felt that she was shortchanging herself by cutting off from this, even if only to be able to recognize it when coming across.

However, it was her path and her choice, and he had to respect that. Especially since this was not his class.

Glancing over at little Jayna, Connel knew that she would not want to be seen as “Daddy’s Girl” or a “baby” here, he didn’t when Caltin taught him. So he wiggled his index finger back and forth and mouthed the words “Me and you?” as if to pair up later.

That is when he noticed that Jax was pulling his weapon and ready for a training period. So the Shadow moved over to the younger Thio. They would not be “paired up” right now, but he would be there more as one to follow. You have great lineage(mother and father), and a great teacher. Just let things flow and don’t let the mystique control your actions. Too many do. If you need to, I’ll help you along.

Probably saying the most words he had in one collection of sentences in a long time, Connel wanted her to understand that while Vaapad is a powerful form, it is not as “Dark” as it is portrayed. He would watch her if it helped. If it helps, I learned to stop when it felt easy, to take a break when I started really getting into it.

Pulling a lightsaber that Jax would recognize. "CONSERVATOR" (Long Handle), Connel’s father’s saber into his hands, he gripped the weapon and slowly flourished it into a stance and then smirked back at the “cousin”. You got this.

There were so many of them here as she listened... more questions drowning out hers as it seemed the lesson was really beginning when other jedi were getting their sabers out. Ikki's eyes remained forward but her senses of the area around herself were keen and aware. A benefit to when she had to fight as there was a small twitch frrom her cybernetic fingers but the tiny maid remained there as she looked up at the tall man Connel but looked from him to his saber and back to him. "Ah Jedi Vanagor may I borrow a blade please?" She said it and held her hands out to show she didn't have any but offered a small bow as the under five foot maid presented like the smallest thing in the room but she held his gaze even with the mask over his... He knew Matsu which went a long way but there was always more as she slid her gloves from her waist and slid the styled gloves on. The index and thumb covered, her middle and ring bare and the pinkie was covered. Her cybernetic fingers blending itno the material on one hand. "I am Temple Housekeeper Ike."

Jairdain remained where she was, just behind the line of students, allowing the lesson to unfold without her voice shaping it.

She felt the shift as sabers were drawn, the subtle tightening in the Force as intent sharpened into action. Vaapad always did that. Even before the first movement, it asked too much of people who did not yet realize what they were offering. She did not interfere. This was Jax's space, his responsibility, and his truth to lay bare.

Her awareness brushed lightly against Jayna as the younger girl stepped forward, a quiet reassurance rather than a correction. No words, no guidance pressed into her mind. Just presence. I am here. Nothing more was needed.

When Connel moved closer, when Rath unclipped his saber without igniting it, when Fallon spoke her piece and chose her boundary, Jairdain did not judge any of it. Choice mattered. Restraint mattered. Knowing when something was not yours mattered just as much as mastering it.

She took a slow breath, grounding herself, hands loosely folded, posture relaxed but attentive. The Force flowed around her in steady currents, neither light nor dark imposed, only watchful.

Whatever happened next would be shaped by those who stepped forward.

And she would be here to witness it.

Lily observed things, she had learned plenty on the fundamentals and even some of the more advanced techniques of Vaapad, it was an important form in making sure that you were not just focusing on the darkness within oneself but also using the energy from your opponent. At least, that had been her understanding and her interpretation of adopting the style as a Padawan.

Hearing Fallon talking about the idea that she held no darkness within her heart and that the technique was unlikely to be one that she could master, Lily waited for Jax to respond since this was his lesson. Hearing his response, Lily nodded her head in agreement with what he was saying. "When I have previously used the form in fighting Sith, it was not my darkness that fuelled the techniques the most but the darkness that came from my opponents. I allowed myself to redirect that energy back towards them."

It was likely the technique that allowed the young Echani to survive her multiple encounters with Darth Carnifex Darth Carnifex in the past. She was hoping that one day it would turn from just surviving to being able to stand her ground against him as a formidable opponent. "If you wish to see how that works Fallon, I can offer some guidance on how I did it in the past." Lily figured that would be a good way to offer some help so that Jax could focus on teaching the main focus of the lesson to everyone as well.

Nir paused, idly flipping his saber to reverse grip in his hand.

"Confidence is all I have, Master. Respectfully, I'm not too worried about that."

He was a rock star. If you didn't have confidence on stage, you got booed out the building. It was a brutal gig, but he adored it. The rush of adrenaline, the feeling of nailing a guitar solo.

When the… wait… a maid is here? Anyway she asked for a weapon, so he offered “Morning Light”, his operational weapon. The Shadow was listening to the conversations as he did this and while he was still thinking about Rath’s concerns, and Falon’s reticence, it was Nur’s “confidence” that made him look at Jax as if asking permission to speak again.

He held no opinion of any of their positions, they were theirs, and valid to say the least. Glancing to Niro, then Fallon, then Nur.

Growing up the son of a Guardian in every sense of the word, you learn a few things. “If you fear learning a form. You don’t fear the form. You fear what it reflects.” There is something you are not willing to face. No judgment, no issue, but, if you never look at the blade, you’ll imagine it’s sharper than it is.

A beat and a crack of his neck later, If you wish not to learn this, that is your right. No shame in understanding your limits, however, out of experience, please make sure you can recognize it when it’s pointed at you. Not rounding the fire is one thing, ignoring its existence is another.

He glanced momentarily at Nur.Conversely confidence is one thing, arrogance is just a little more, Vaapad is what is left after you’ve learned how not to need it. If you want it because it feels dangerous, you’re not ready. If you want it because you think it makes you special, you’re already lost.

Then to everyone, especially Jax. Apologies for speaking out of turn, just felt it necessary.

She looked at the offered lightsaber and gave a nod of her head as she hefted it carefully and examined it first. "It is very pretty." She took a moment while looking aat him and pointed. "This is the dangerous side right?" She offered a soft smile to that while she moved and listened to him talking about the form to the others. her eyes roaming over all of them and offering a small nod of her head before she was standing there. "Like this?" She said it looking at Connel while she planted her feet to either side with knees bent ready for an attack. Her fingers wrapping just barely around the hilt with a nod of her head before gripping it with both hands. "I am ready."

She nodded to Jax Thio Jax Thio , maybe he was right, maybe she waa she supposed there was only one way to find out, and when Connel Vanagor Connel Vanagor commented that people might be scared of what the technique reflected she smirked.

"Very well, let's learn Vaapad." she said matter of factly, she has nothing to lose by trying it and if her nature rebelled against it and proved her right, then that was the will of the Force. She looked at Connor, "The only thing I fear today is wasting our teachers time." she laughed.
