- The Hollow-class Stealth Freighter retains the stealth capabilities of its predecessor, however, several of the components have been swapped out for more improved systems such as the Eligor and Crest Drives. Complimenting these stealth capabilities, the Hollow-class has a A-EX 400 Shiftdrive to allow it to make jumps to Otherspace and back whether transporting cargo there or needing a quick escape.
- Due to the Crest Drives, the Hollow-class has impressive speed and maneuverability for a freighter, allowing it to outrun many threats that might attack it.
- More so than the Samhein, the Hollow-class has enhanced defenses, having the new Xandret shield system installed and a double-layered hull.
- A significant improvement over the Samhein, the Hollow-class has the capacity to carry 40,000 metric tons of cargo.
- While it has more weapons than the Samhein, the Hollow-class still isn't designed for combat situations outside of dealing with pirates or a few starfighters. It is recommended to avoid any potential warzones.
- Due to the specialized systems on board, sabotage can be a severe issue. If the hyperdrive is tampered with, parts of the ship will be sent to Otherspace while others will remain in Realspace, tearing the ship apart. If the Crest Drives are tampered with, the molecular furnaces at their core will consume the engine and explode.
- Because it uses the Xandret shield system, kinetic weapons such as mass driver rounds will pass through the shields, and the ship will have to rely on its hull plating to mitigate that attack.
Designed as part of Aurora Industries' Phase III modernization program, the Hollow-class Stealth Freighter was created to directly replace the old Samhein-class Stealth Freighter that Aurora Industries uses to move its more sensitive cargo. The older freighter just could not carry enough, it used outdated systems, and the list for improvements just went on and on according to Ary Jaxson. Much like the Lumiya-class, the stealth ship team at the hidden Pluthan Asteroid shipyards were tasked with creating the new stealth freighter.
The team decided to build from the ground up, completely redesigning the hull shape and the systems of the ship. The ship was enlarged slightly and the cargo hold enhanced for a capacity of 40,000 metric tons. Quadanium steel and turadium were traded in for the durasteel, with the engineers double-layering the hull plating for extra protection for the vessel, especially around the cargo hold and cockpits. The stealth suite was mostly carried over, although the new Eligor cloaking device replaced the original stygium device while the A-EX 400 Shiftdrive replaced the old A-XX 200 for its ability to travel to Otherspace and the research and mining stations in that alternate space.
To finish out the new systems added onto the Hollow-class, the design team installed three dual Leamonde Laser Cannons for the ship's protection. Two Crest Drives were also installed, set to emit TibannaX, to give the ship a much needed boost in speed and maneuverability. The final new feature added was the Xandret shield system, allowing energy attacks to either be absorbed or bounced back at their origin point. All totaled, the ship was a much needed upgrade and it began to replace the old Samhein within weeks of production beginning.
