Question Has a Factory sub ever had a serious impact on an Invasion/Rebellion?

The only impact that a factory sub should have had on any invasion is how they are used (i.e; how fair, etc, it's usage is, see Story criteria for better language)

So in that regard I would say that they've theoretically done about as much as any other thing in an invasion, positive and negative, but they've never been a deciding factor in one, at least not an inherent "it was used so x" sort of way.

Edit: if we're talking results that is. Factory subs have made invasions tedious for people, like the Braal's use by mandalorians

A starship crashed into an invasion and completely changed the IC course

Also in that thread there was small Mando clan with very beefy droids that held onto the bridge, those were actually subbed, and the use of wizardlizard spheres helped Valdus Bral fight Voph and Cardinal. Without the Force to see Voph was at a serious disadvantage, Valdus also held back OOM-330's battalion (my character). Aside from the shenanigans on the side this was the central focus.

That probably could have been any ship, subbed or not, and you don't really need a submission to say you've slapped some ysalamari onto a few droids or Mandos.

Pretty sure no sub has actually impacted the win or loss of a faction in an invasion

Depends what a 'serious impact' means. Affecting the result of an invasion? Unlikely since that's down to players taking hits or not.

In a one on one battle sense? Sure, what one person has as armour can have a meaningful impact on how those players' story goes. Is that a serious impact? Who knows?

Does it matter? Who knows?

When the First Order was still major, I thought they did a good job using their Keeper Interdiction Stations to help create interesting set pieces for one of their invasions against the Old GA. In general, I thought they did well using factory subs to help advance their narratives, like the Sith Meditation sphere installed on Natasi Fortan Natasi Fortan 's old flagship in the same invasion, and Cyrus Tregessar Cyrus Tregessar provided an excellent introduction of their first SSD which was one of the highlights of another invasion.

Similarly, I do recall Ra Vizsla Ra Vizsla using some subs like special smoke generators create a certain atmosphere (no pun intended) during the UCM invasion of Kashyyyk.

On the flip side, the excessive use of subs to try to defend against everything the opposition throws at them can actually hurt a writer's narrative as they drain tension from the story or stall progress altogether. It's always good to leave your characters with some vulnerabilities.

One time there was an invasion between ORC and TSE where it revolved around the presence of a specific item. It wasn't subbed at the time, but it would become a sub later.

Nonetheless, without this macguffin the whole starting premise of the invasion would've been different to be unrecognizable to what we got.

So yeah, they can make a difference in so far as any story element effects an invasion, a factory sub could. Otherwise by themselves in isolation (as most things that are by themselves and isolated), a sub could not effect the results of an invasion.

Kashyyyk is a bad example imo since it was more of a Dominvasion.

No factory sub has ever been strong enough to be able to force a faction to give a thread activity.
I'll turn that on its head and say that no factory sub should ever be strong enough to be able to force a faction to give a thread activity; it doesn't really matter whether one's shiny thingamajig is Canon, factory-subbed, or made up on the spot (though the former two are easier to keep track of), because ultimately the stories that are told are what matters.

Does that mean shoving superlasers on mass-produced droid fighters is largely pointless? Yes. Is it still fun? Also yes, for me anyway.
