Name: Grokata
Designation: Semi-Sentient
Homeworld: Yuuzhan'tar
Language: None
Average height of adults: 17 meters
Skin color: Gray, Green, Olive, Brown
Hair color: None
Breathes: Type I
Strengths:
+ Can create a vacuum to suck in food rapidly in a cone that can extend up to 40 meters. This suction can pull a maximum of 15 average sized humans off their feet and into the creature's mouth.
+ Can reverse vacuum to expel unwanted objects in a cone that can extend up to 40 meters. This suction can expel a maximum of 15 average sized humans through the air from it's stomach.
+ Foot-plat thick armor covers it's body, similar to that of a Rakamat.
+ Stomach is large enough and the acidic volume is low enough to store people and/or troops safely for extended periods of time, like the Rakamat.
+ Extremely good at reproducing. Can lay up to twelve eggs at a time.
Weaknesses:
- Extremely slow. The Grokata walks at an extremely slow pace and only reacts quickly when it sees food.
- Segmented plating on it's underbelly. In several spots, it's underbelly is exposed. Though it has tough skin, many predators and parasites aim for the Grokata's underbelly.
- Creatures inside of the Grokata will be unable to move once the Grokata begins suctioning in.
- Creatures inside of the Grokata will be involuntarily shot out of the Grokata begins expelling air out.
Distinctions:
The Grokata resemble giant turtles that move along the fields at an extremely slow pace. They have the following distinctions:
-Short, armored tail. (2m average)
-Huge armored shell on it's back.
-Beaked mouth.
-Home grown armor plating covering all limbs and face.
Average Lifespan: 600 Galactic Standard Years.
1) The incubation period of the eggs: 60-75 days.
2) Average age of sexual maturity of the offspring: 15-20 years.
Races: None.
Estimated Population: Native only to Yuuzhan'tar but the Yuuzhan Vong are slowly relocating them to several worlds in the Unknown Regions, the estimated population of the Grokata is around 60,000.
Diet: Plant life, algae, plankton, pollen, microbial organisms and bacteria. The Grokata is a herbivore.
Communication: Loud indistinct roars and groaning that sound like horns.
Culture: Initially lonesome creatures due to their appetitie and consumption thereof, the Grokata is a family animal. It will travel in packs when it is raising it's young and will defend, at all costs, it's offspring. Though the Grokata possess no technology and very limited language skills, it is surmised they are extremely intelligent due to their interaction with their herd and their trainers. The Grokata can follow simple oral and physical commands, and have integrated well with the natural field hands of the Yuuzhan Vong. They are generally peaceful creatures when in their natural habitat, as they possess no offensive abilities other than their enormous size, which usually deters the majority of their predators. However, the Grokata have been known to be fed on by packs of fero xyn and have even known to get into territorial disputes with the Rakamat.
Technology level: None.
General behavior: Grokata are generally peaceful herbivores. Though these creatures will react unpleasant in the face of their offspring being attacked, as many predators have developed an appetite for their gigantic eggs that they can lay up to twelve at a time of, their size in their environments will mostly dictate that they will go unchallenged by a majority of would-be predators. When feeding, the Grokata will approach it's intended target unless it is within range, and will sometimes take days to do this as it is so slow in moving. However, due to the range of it's vacuum and it's great depth perception and eyesight, the Grokata will begin consuming as quickly as possible. Full grown Grokata have been known to target small forests, using their air vacuums to suck so hard that entire trees will become rooted and engulfed. Most Grokata, especially young Grokata, will simply feed on grass - in the case of Yuuzhan'tar, there is more than an abundance. Grokata have a distinct advantage to be able to digest nearly all vegetation it consumes with ease, as most of it's stomach acids are geared towards doing so.
However, it is the case that the Grokata may accidentally inhale something it either does not wish to devour or cannot physically digest. If this is the case, the Grokata will immediately begin reversing it's vacuum, launching the heaviest objects out as it can. It will then use a smaller version of it's air suction technique so that it does not devour the object or animal again.
If under heavy attack by a predator, the Grokata will place it's body on the ground and withdraw all limbs, it's tail, and it's head into it's massive shell - essentially becoming a small hill.
History: The Grokata's origins can be traced all the way back to the Yuuzhan Vong galaxy, as they were first originally incepted by Yun-Yuuzhan, the Creator. The Creator wished to bestow upon his people a creature of great girth and magnitude so that they may tremble before the Creator's might, but realize the touch of his soft hand through the gentle nature of these creatures. Before long, however, the Yuuzhan Vong entered a war with many robotic species and began to adapt and pervert the Grokata, turning them into mighty war machines that they may house their soldiers in. The Grokata have since reformed back into their natural state, that of environmental cleansers for their respective habitats on wild Yuuzhan'tar and other known systems they have been relocated to by the Yuuzhan Vong present in the Chaos Galaxy. However, it has been rumored that the Yuuzhan Vong have once again been hunting Grokata for their massive shells to create armor out of, and in more rare instances - training Grokata to walk alongside their armies.
Intent: To create a defensive creature for the Yuuzhan Vong, to create a new creature to make armor out of their shell instead of Vonduun Crabs, and to expand the Yuuzhan Vong's ever expanding lore on this website.
