Fires In The Skies [PM for Invite, Vitae Public Dominion]

Post 6/20

"Sir the dropships have landed and a temporary hospital has been set up. But we seemed to have come across a transmission warning about 'feral population' should we concern ourselves with this?"

Kerkov swiveled his chair to face Captain Nublar, "Prepare to send weapons down through my shuttle, no the bombers. Send the weapons in boxes which we shall release from the bombers! Hurry Nublar, they will need our help!"

The Captain hurried out with his new order. Kerkov swiveled his chair again to face a holoscreen, "I will join you soon enough my friends."

Rexus swung the silver blade and it left a trail of black and red as burning plasma met flesh and bones. Another of the crazed civilians went down and before Rexus could even react to another threat he was tackled to the ground his saber landing a meter away from his side as he fended off the snapping teeth of a woman who lay atop him hoping to sink her teeth into his flesh. Pressing his forearm against her neck Rexus threw a punch or two in her face hoping to shove her off, but it was as if the punches didn't even phase the woman. Her head rocked back a few times and blood splattered on his suits visor but she kept at Rex trying to rip his flesh, but before that could happen a bright flash of blue light struck the woman and came out the other end of her ribcage.

The woman slumped over dead and Rex shoved her body off of him. The squad of Vitae troopers lined up and began to open fire on the feral civilians. Rex quickly jumped to his feet and called his saber to him with the force. He looked over to the civilians who were charging at the line in a frenzied rush of heated anger and hunger.

"Lord and Lady please forgive me for what must be done and give them the peace I could not give them in life." Rexus said to himself.

With a snap hiss the silver blade extended from it's hilt and Rex charged forward with his men firing and taking down civilians who had tried to flank him. Rexus danced through the crowd of mad feral men and women, his blade singing as if cut through flesh and bone. And over the course of a few moments all the feral beasts behind that blast door lay dead at his feet. A small tear rolled down Rex's right eye and he exhaled a small sigh as he began to radio his wife.

"Negative Sabrina, I've got the situation under control. Just send another dropship with men and ammo and I'll start taking care of any more feral civilians. Contact command to see if we can save them or cleanse." Rex let out another breath of air then hung his head as he began to lay the bodies around him to rest.

In sheer frustration of being told not to come and help, she barked back at him WE DO NOT HAVE ANY DROPSHIPS! It was immediately followed by guilt, for shouting at him. sorry so sorry but I don't have any, and I coming to help. I have a load marines, and fire power. Just get out in the open, so I can protect you, okay rexy? The ship was coming in, and started to ride the turbulence in upper atmosphere. The noise was loud enough to be heard over the comms device to Rexus. She was not going to be told what to do, she was coming to help him come what may. Otherwise what was the point of power and the force, if you could not protect the ones you loved. She was fretting as ship began to bounced of turbulence, she then looked at one her servants and shouted. GET ME MY ARMOUR KNOW! the young man quickly ran of to get sabrina battle armour, phrik plated armour from day of war with the republic. She was going to be ready for combat, and she knew the phoenix guard will be with her.

There was so much going on and she was excited now. They were all going out and she moved grabbing her saber before heading to meet and interact with some of the people in the shuttles. The small apprentice was going to meet up with her master and looking kind of confused while she realized she was on a different ship. "Ah hey listen can you take me to master sabrina... I kind of should be with her." She was looking at the man who starred at her and then was moving while he motioned her itno the ship to go and meet [member="Sabrina Kotass"]

She saw her apprentice come in, as her armour was brought before her. She looked at her, but she more worried about rexy. She then said Apprentice watch this. She then closed her eyes and looked inward, she was concentrating on her atoms. She began break their bonds and spread them a little, then she stepped forwards into her armour. She had used force phase, to get her equipment on faster. The prototype firestorm, started to zero in on rexy position, and she was about to head down to cargo bay. The ride was bumpy to say least, she then used intercomm to order, All marines report to cargo bay, all marines be ready for action we are going in. She then turned and looked at her apprentice, and asked her Do you wish to go in, or do wish to run the ship?

Rexus and his men exited the building, he stared up at the smoke and fire that clouded the air above and shook his head. Taking a small rag from his side he began to wipe the blood from his visor and he felt a hollow emptiness inside him for the lives he had just taken, maybe they could of been helped? Even though he knew that their minds were gone and they would forever remain feral beasts part of him wished that he could of done something for them besides end their suffering. Exhaling a long breath of filtered air he heard his wife yell at him out of love and worry and he wasn't much in the mood to argue with the woman, not after what had happened. So he got on his comm link and hailed his wife.

"Yes dear, we are picking up more life forms. I sense the same thing as before. I fear this town has been lost to madness. I'm going to try and search for untainted survivors, I'll see you soon." Rex looked back down at the ground and took his saber in hand.

"Let's move, I don't want these people to suffer any more." Rex said to his men and began to walk down the streets.

The dark skinned Jedi and ten Vitae marines kept a close guard as they moved through the ruined and decimated town. He kept a watchful eye and soon a tremor struck through the force and alerted him that something was coming. Running around the corner a mother carrying her child was sprinting down the street towards them, behind her a group of civilians gone mad with hunger. Rex swallowed and knew what had to be done.

"Help!!" the woman shouted as the crazies grew closer.

Rexus dug deep and sprinted forward using the force to quicken his pace. Activating his bright silver saber he ran past the woman and child and drove his blade directly into the chest of the first maddened civilian. With a bitter twist he yanked it out then started to fight as Vitae marines secured the woman and child sending a few to lead her to the pick up site.

Solan moved from the table as he turned his eyes to the side and looked at the continually raising number of confirmed dead, lost and survivors. The last number was too low, too... wrong. He had seen a genocide before, it had scarred him through he wont admit it. But this. The amount of death he felt cut into his very core and he could not handle it much longer as he waited for Aaran to go before his hand curled up to his head. He had to think, to focus. Get his mind off what was happening around him but it cut deeper and deeper until the comm sounded and shook him from his mental torture.

"Sir, supplies have arrived from those that came, should we distribute them by quantity or need..."

Solan breathed in as he returned to his state of sanity, thinking before he nodded and spoke. "I want supplies split and moved on a case by case system. This people are going to need to be cared for and i mean all of them. I will pay for any problems. Just get it done." He sighed and turned his head to the side again, staring before collapsing to ground and sitting there. His hands came to the earth beneath him and he searched for any signs of life still in it, a single plant. Something he could focus on to release some of the death and emotions he felt around him.

Taeli frowned a little as she sensed something amiss, well more than usual, with the person she had been bantering with. Shrugging, she went back to setting a splint on an injured man's leg, along with giving him a shot of bacta. More and more survivors had started to stream into the makeshift medical and supply camps she had set up, but she had been forced to call down a few security forces, in riot gear and mostly volunteers, to guard the area and keep everyone in order.

These people were desperate for aid, and when push came to shove, they would do anything to get it. Luckily, Taeli had enough supplies to go around. Fresh water and packaged rations were being distributed to those that came, while the workers and other volunteers searched the area for more survivors, or cleared out buildings that were structurally unsound.

"Ma'am, we just found a little girl," one of her volunteer captains said, a little girl holding a stuffed eopie in her hand, in his arms. The girl had blood across her brow and was whimpering in pain from several wounds.

"I'll look after her Captain," she said, taking the little girl into her arms gently. The captain saluted and moved back to keep searching.

"Hi, my name is Taeli, what's yours?" she asked.

"Erelenn," the little girl cried. "It hurts, miss, it really hurts."

"Well let's see if we can't stop it from hurting," she said, scanning the girl with her glasses.

"No, IT hurts," the girl insisted. "IT really really hurts."

Taeli realized this little girl was Force Sensitive and was talking about the planet, and she cried inside that the girl could feel her homeworld in such pain. Lightly dabbing the girl's cuts and bruises with bacta, she whispered, "I know IT hurts, I can feel it too. But, we're going to make it feel better okay?"

Aaran started pulling away rubble like a man possessed sure that here was somebody down their still alive. As the rubble cleared revealing more and more Aaran small a small boy who could not be more than seven or eight trapped in a pocket of rubble. Aaran called out to those around him.

"MEDIC get me a medic.....................NOW."

Aaran reached down scooping the boy up in his arms. It was taking to long entirely too long.

"MEDIC somebody get me a fething MEDIC."

Aaran cursed taking the boy to the transport himself just as it was arriving to drop off another load of workers. Jumping on the transport Aaran waited impatiently for it to leave. He seemed genuinely worried the boy was not going to make it back to the tents to receive proper care. He had them radio ahead to have medical teams standing by for when they arrived.

Sheila finally arrived, she was seeing some of the others while looking towards her master finally. She fluttered around the hold while watching her master with the marines while she thought about going in or staying in the ship. She tapped her chin for several moments as she spoke. "I'll go with you." She flew looking around while her eyes were watching some of the others with her small saber coming out as she held it ready to stab some things in the eye with a grin on her face.

Captain you have the bridge, get us in close and then keep her safe. She then head down to where her troops were, with her apprentice dressed in her battle armour. The ship opened its cargo bay doors as it landed, to let her off and the rest off her task force. As it did she could feel the heat of the planet on her, it was good job she had enviromental protection on her. She looked at her small apprentice, and handed her a heat shield without it she could perish with the heat. As soon as she was capable jumping down, and then charged of to find rexy. She was not going to let him perish in hands of some unnamed horde, not while she drawed breath.

She charged towards rexus position, telling her apprentice Take command of the troops. This was more symbolic than reality, as troops would follow direction, but they knew had to do there job. She ran as fast as she could hoping to catch up with rexus as quickly as possible.

Sheila looked at the heat shield as she was there and wasn't certain if she would be able to wear it... Hell she couldn't wear most of the things but there were plans. She was working to get some new things from Armatech for her own use if she was going to be a force to help the vitae. She looked at the troopers speaking while she flew around and landed on his shoulder holding her saber out. "Charge and go help them. I don't think I need to say to shoot them." She got a look from him confirming her guess as she fluttered off his shoulder and had one of the troopers stay with her to have access to a comlink while she was listening for chatter from the other vitae.

Vulpesen sighed as he finished the healing on yet another wound. Already he was feeling drained, and yet the injured simply poured into the tent, one after another. Though, what grieved him most was the sight of those he almost sent out. True they needed the room, but he didn't have the heart to say that a man was beyond any healing capabilities, something that many who entered were. The cataclysm had done its work well, and as a person who had studied massive amounts of biology in various species, Vulpesen knew when someone was beyond hope. "We need more healers here." Still, there was some good news whenever Ace called to him with good news. It seemed that for every few men they would put under the ground, his companion sniffed out one strong enough to stay above it.

By the time [member="Sabrina Kotass"] had made it to Rexus it was over. The woman and her child were being loaded into the dropship and were being safely escorted to the fleet above to receive medical treatment. As for Rexus, he stood over a field of dead bodies both male and female with his saber at his side blade extended outwards, it's silver light shining in the darkness of the clouded skies above. There was a hurt inside of him, a wound that would take time to heal. But in time all things would fade, he just wished he could of given them another form of peace.

When Sabrina arrived he turned his head and her familiar and warm presence washed over him, he missed her in the short time they were separated and he needed her right now. But these civilians needed him more, the squads were saying they were picking up more survivors that had barricaded themselves inside a nearby school and that was a acting as a camp for people until help arrived. Made sense as well, schools these days were bigger and more fortified against raving lunatics and it seemed a good spot to have it. Rex snapped his head to Sabrina and thankfully the visor was covering the grim expression on his face.

"We need to go, there's a school of survivors a click away from here. Kids just like Emily." He said with a unsteady determination in his voice.

The man approached his wife and put his hand around her hip and nodded his head that he was going to be ok, he just needed a little time. Rexus looked ajar and began to walk forward through rubble and smoke, light shinning off his aura as a beacon of hope and a righteous guardian of the weak.

Sabrina nodded at rexy, as he said we need to get to the school. He then put his arm around her, and she whispered in his ear I am coming too, she then pointed to a sargent. She then told him You and your squad is with us, rest you secure the area and evacuate what you can. The marines jumped to it, began looking for survivors of from the mob. Those who would not be a threat to them, as they might be able to be treated, or atleast find out what caused this. Though they would be put into isolation, incase it was air born problem.

"It's Cruetzfeldt-Jakob Disease. I've seen if before." Rexus said as he pushed through a cloud of smoke with his wife.

Once Rex and Sabrina were through the smoke he began to walk through the streets at a steady pace, chugging along slowly through debris and other blockage that hindered their path to the school. Rexus was once a medic hundred of years ago, a medic in the stormtrooper legion of the original galactic empire, and he had seen a lot in his time before being frozen.

"That's why there were no aliens back there, humans already ate them. Once you consume too much raw meat or cannibalize other humans you start to gain it and go mad until there's no humanity left, only anger and confusion. Then you die." He said as he began to cut a path through a sheet of steel with his lightsaber.

"There's no cure so far." Rex stepped through the hole speaking through his comm link.

Once on the other side he saw the school and began to step forward towards it. He needed to save these people, they were in trouble and he needed to be there for them. He wasn't about to let them end up someone's meal or go mad like the others.

She looked at rexy, and then questioned his prognosis That take years to form, human brain how could so many be infected so quickly. She know really wanted those test results, she wanted to know if sith alchemy has been at work here. She then was on her guard more, she turned to the guards Set your blasters to stun, don't take any chances. If anyone rushes shoot first, we will get answers later okay. She then prepared to follow her husband to the school, they need to save the kids from the hot gases. Also force no what else with a damaged crust, on this planet.

"It's been long enough, there people have been sitting here for a while. The galaxy forgets as everything you know is torn down in madness. And once all food is exhausted people will turn on each other like animals. It's nature." Rex said to his wife as they proceeded down the road.

Rexus still felt a wound in the force, he didn't like what had to be done but these people were suffering. The sooner they rescued this planet and restored order than the sooner they could leave and start repairing what was lost. Right now he wanted to go home and hold his daughter and tell her a bedtime story before staying up with his wife over a few glasses of wine and a cheesy holo movie. But this was the job of a Jedi, to safeguard and protect the innocent.

"We're almost there." Rexus said as they approached the outer courtyard of the school.

Standing on the fringes of the courtyard Rexus waved his hand at the gate using a subtle working of the force to gently have the gates open to him. Once open he stepped into the courtyard and looked up at the tall four story school that stretched around for a good few hundred meters. It was time to get to saving.

Solan's voice cut through what he saw around him and he had to close his eyes. "Clean this up..." Those accompanying him out into the ruins did so as he sat down. He had to focus though and he couldn't which is why someone was left in charge of coordination while his body collapsed to the side of the road while he walked among this. He had thought there was something he missed, there had to be something he missed that was making him feel this way. But all he had found so far were the dead and they were not something that he could so easily look at. Why was this disgusting him though. He had seen death, caused death, to many.

Innocents. He hated that and that was it. He still could not condone the death of an innocent, caused by a man or by disaster it sickened him. It was because he could not stop it, or deliver the dead their retribution, it was something he had to just live with and his eyes closed tight. "I want the next three sectors clear before i join you... go." He had to wait, he couldn't walk right now.

[member="Rexus Drath"] Do you feel it too She asked him, as she could feel a wound in the force. It was a disturbing to say the least, she wanted to leave this place for know. She wanted to get these people to safety, and not investigate it. Rexy let's ignore it, we got children to rescue. She knew he would not, but it was worth a try. She looked at him hoping he would, but knowing he would say it would be fine, no sweat and all other things she liked about him.
