    • Hybrid Modules
      • Particle Beam - Considered to be the standard firing module, this module deals damage in much the same way as a typical blaster rifle, via sheer energy output. However, it should be noted that the discharged bolts have an explosive effect upon connecting with a target.
      • Solarized Particle Beam - Capable of melting durasteel plating and setting targets alight, this module deals damage by superheating the target and ideally, incinerating them. It is also capable of bypassing conventional deflector shields.
      • Ion Particle Beam - Fires a bolt of ionized particles that is effective against electronics and can feasibly overload shields. Often utilized when a target is needed alive, but might also be deployed to drain shields before finishing the target off via another firing module.
      • Sonic Particle Beam - Derived from ancient Geonosian designs, the sonic module fires a bolt of condensed sonic energy sheathed by a volatile plasma containment field. Upon impact, the field collapses, unleashing a potentially lethal burst of sonic energy that can rupture organs or even cause targets to explode outright.
      • Cryogenic Particle Beam - Fires a bolt of cryogenic particles, frozen to ultra-cold temperatures via cryogenized gas. These beams are capable of flash-freezing and potentially shattering targets or alternatively, causing severe cold injuries.
      • Stun Beam - Fires a ring of energy at a lower power setting, capable of stunning targets.
  • Control Systems
    • Motion Interface Functionality - Also Compatible with Equivalent Aftermarket NI or MMI Systems, Secure Technopathy, Blink / Voice Commands, and Droid Interface Systems
  • Power Systems
  • Utility and Safety Systems
STRENGTHS
  • Versatility - A hybrid weapon, the FAE/W-13 can be switched on the fly from one firing module to the other, allowing the user to choose the best option for the situation. Alternatively, the governing computer brain integrated into the CI scope might select or recommend the best module for the situation, upon analyzing a host of factors and conditions.
  • High Power - While it is not a disruptor, the FAE/W-13 has a very high damage potential, with explosive effects upon impact owing to the unstable nature of particle beams. A single bolt from the weapon is capable of leaving a 0.65 meter-wide hole in reinforced durasteel barricades, allowing the shooter to engage a wide variety of targets under ideal conditions. As such, the energy output is enough to reliably—but not certainly—overcome many types of conventional defenses.
WEAKNESSES
  • Fortune Teller - If the weapon is fired with a misaligned prismatic crystal, the risk of an explosive outcome is somewhat high, likely ending with the weapon going off in the wielder’s hand to potentially catastrophic effect in the event that they attempt to fire it in spite of the damage.
  • Heat Hazard - While the FAE/W-13 is equipped with a cooling system, long, extended firefights can result in a rapid heat buildup which surpasses the speed of the cooling system. Should this reach a certain temperature threshold, the integrity system will lock the rifle to prevent the shooter from firing in order to allow the weapon to cool. The shooter can opt to bypass this lock and continue, but doing so risks damaging the weapon, the shooter suffering severe burns, or in more extreme cases, causing the weapon to detonate within their hands. It should be noted that this characteristic persists when the weapon is fired on the cryogenic module, as the heat stems from an inherent inefficiency of the power pack, rather than the heat of a discharged bolt.
  • Mechu-deru - Like any piece of technology, the FAE/W-13 is susceptible to Mechu-deru and other technology-corrupting powers. A talented practitioner of such esoteric sorceries could induce a jam or some other mechanical failure that might compromise the weapon entirely or demand precious time to fix, leaving the shooter vulnerable.
DESCRIPTION
An upscaling of
previous weapon designs intended for use on gauntlets, the FAE/W-13 Hybrid Particle Rifle is a full-sized rifle optimized for battlefield conditions—extended engagement ranges, armored enemies, and harsh environments. In this regard, the FAE/W-13 is hoped to perform with distinction. However, the weapon separates itself from its competitors via its hybrid modules which allow a shooter to switch from one energy composition to another on the fly, an advanced CI scope loaded with targeting assistance systems, modular control systems, security systems, and a blaster gas mask system. These systems combine to establish the FAE/W-13 as a reliable, yet advanced platform honed for the modern battlefield, making it ideal for professional soldiers, mercenaries, and warfighters across the galaxy. In this regard, First United Astral Engineering hopes that the FAE/W-13 will help it break into galactic small arms market, allowing the company to establish itself in an area where it has often struggled.
