SPECIAL FEATURES
STRENGTHS
  • All Weather - The Phoenix is capable of operating in the void and within an atmosphere. Moreover, the jetpack is capable of independent escape from a planet-sized primary body.
  • Void Fighter - Of particular note, the Phoenix is quite a fast propulsion system, capable of matching and in some cases, exceeding the speeds of swift interceptors in the void and within an atmosphere. This makes the Phoenix very ideal for dogfighting in the void, allowing the operator to move with the speed of a starfighter while maintaining the inherent agility of their physical form. Along the same vein, the Phoenix’s maneuverability is superior to most jetpacks, allowing the user to execute sudden bursts of movement in any direction to evade attacks via the agility array and the Huabing Engines.
  • Countermeasures - The Phoenix is equipped with a full countermeasure suite, giving the user a level of protection against incoming fire.
  • Aerial Firepower - For additional firepower, the user can install two missiles or launchers into the armament hardpoints, turning the Phoenix into a potent aerial firepower platform.
WEAKNESSES
  • Overload - The Phoenix’s Sleg Ultracapacitors can be dangerous when overloaded with energy, with the potential to explode or catch on fire in such an event.
  • Point of Failure - When used by an organic operator, the acceleration compensators are easily the most critical component of the Phoenix. In the event that they begin to operate at reduced efficiency, typically due to damage, the performance of the propulsion system will likely need to be turned down,
  • Burn Wound - The Phoenix's boost SLAM module can only be sustained for a limited amount of time due to its intense power demands and potential to overheat the engines. At maximum, the system can be active for twenty consecutive seconds before it is automatically shut off, at which point the thrusters must undergo a mandatory heat discharge protocol.
  • Mechu-deru - An unspoken weakness of virtually all modern technology, the Phoenix is vulnerable to the esoteric sorceries of Mechu-deru and other technology-corrupting powers. As such, a skilled practitioner of such arts can quickly disable the machine, provided that they have a direct line of sight to the propulsion system and its operator.
  • Exposed Weaponry and Long Reload - When set in a firing position, the warheads of the Phoenix's mounted missiles (if equipped) are exposed, making them a tempting target for enemy fire. The loaded warheads can be feasibly detonated by a penetrating shot, presenting a significant danger to the user. In addition, the missiles are not easy to reload, as it requires that the jetpack be taken off and reinstalled, unless another person assists with the task.
  • Big Wings - Even while folded down, the Phoenix’s wings are relatively large and will get in the way while running. They will also present an impediment if the user needs to walk through tight spaces. In this regard, the jetpack sacrifices maneuverability on the ground for maneuverability in the skies.
DESCRIPTION
Built off the frame of an ancient, Clone Wars-era jetpack design, the FAE/P-02 "Phoenix" Winged Jetpack (christened in tribute to the Mandalorian jetpack combat art) is an aerial propulsion system designed for equal parts lethality, speed, agility, and dazzling displays of aerial artistry. The Phoenix is ideal for space and atmospheric use. With a top speed of 155 MGLT in space (boosted to 400 MGLT with SLAM), the Phoenix is ideal for space and atmospheric use. It is at home in air-to-air and air-to-ground engagements, allowing the user to leverage their speed and maneuverability in dogfights and aerial assaults.

However, the Phoenix is not without weaknesses. The relatively large bulk of the wings can get in the way of the user while running, even while folded down. As such, the jetpack is generally used only by dedicated jetpack troopers who fight almost exclusively from the skies or within space. In addition, the missiles can present a catastrophic weakness if shot, potentially detonating the warheads. Nevertheless, the Phoenix Winged Jetpack is hoped to become a mainstay for the Empire of the Lost’s Jet and Spacetroopers, giving them an advantage over their rivals.
