The harrowing wind howled and shrieked, its terrifying sound deafened only by the warning klaxons echoing across the streets and avenues of the monolithic capital city, accompanied only by the brisk voice on the PA system as the convoy of heavy trucks and military vehicles made its way along the main thoroughfare towards the colossal easternmost gates. The snowbound buildings (they were always snowbound) loomed like silent watchers on either side of the cavalcade as it steadily drudged along.

On Kalidan, there were no speeders. Not for a lack of technology to build them, but because they were unsuitable for the harsh weather conditions of the planet. The asteroid ring orbiting the planet, along with its arid, barren landscape formed a potent combination of factors which produced some of the harshest and most extreme storms amongst the galaxy's countless inhabited planets, with wind speeds which turned even the tiniest grain of sand or flake of snow into a deadly projectile, battering against anything in its path like a sandblasting machine, powerful enough to grind stone down to a mirror polish, or strip flesh from bone, a gruesome death for any who did not have adequate protection.

For that reason, the Empire preferred trucks and tracked vehicles, plated with tons and tons of armor and sufficiently heavy to withstand the horrific gales of wind. In most parts of the galaxy, Kalidan would only be described as habitable by the loosest of standards, a harsh, unforgiving world fir only for the hardiest life forms. And yet, a civilization not only existed here, but it thrived, in defiance of everything this planet threw at it, as attested by this and the many other cities and towns built across the planet.

The tall, tower-lie buildings and the massive walls, every road, every tunnel, every rail line and work of infrastructure, all the edifices of commerce, industry and habitation were engineering marvels. They had to be, in these conditions, to withstand the planet's attempts to wipe them out, clinging to the ground like packs of angry predators refusing to be shaken off by their titanic prey.

And amongst them, the column of vehicles trudged on towards its destination, through the gates, beyond the protection of the massive city walls, towards the immense and foreboding fortress thirty kilometers to the east. Inside, the trucks were configured for passenger transport, the furnishings utilitarian and crude-looking, despite the station of the occupants. Function always took precedence over form on Kalidan, a philosophy reflected throughout the rest of the solar systems which this forsaken planet had come to dominate.

The heavy trucks shook and shuddered violently as the stormfront reached the convoy, even their heavy armor unable to keep out all the horrible shrieks of the apocalyptic blizzard outside, yet the soldiers assigned to the passengers' security detail, were unphased, their postures showing only stubborn pride and the silent, terrifying discipline for which they were infamous throughout the galaxy. This was their homeworld. To them, nightmarish storms like this one, were normal.

In defiance of nature, life went on. It had to, just like this convoy had to brave the storm, for aboard the trucks were important officials, from all over the Empire and beyond. They were on their way towards Wulfngard, the most heavily defended fortress in the Empire, for a summit of the Imperial Assembly, a summit concerning matters of trade. Once safely behind the stronghold's wall, the passengers were ushered into the colossal hall of the Empire's legislature, where the nation's military government made all the decisions pertaining to Imperial business. And Imperial business waited for no storm.

Before the meeting she wanted to go horseback riding with her taun-taun, but today the weather was harsher than usual. For this reason, he arrived at the tower before the meeting to check the security measures as well. She trusts in the security officers, but today the Emperor came here too, maybe the Empress too. She could not have been too careless, and the auditorium was huge. Ingrid spent hours at dawn and early in the morning exploring the area in person. She searches for bugs, weak points, everything that can be sensitive to security. But she finds everything optimal. Only the participants were missing, she didn’t take a sit yet, just took up a security position opposite the entrances.

Ingrid worked without knowing fatigue, and where was the end of the day? The meeting did not even begin. She chose a place where she could see all the entrances, she will later take her own place as well, but that could still wait. Yesterday and day before that day she studied those who were invited here today. She read the files about these persons, from whom she knew nothing about them. After all, she can’t know everyone either. In short, she tried to prepare herself best for everything, as always. After all, this was one of the reasons why the emperor chose her for the position she received.

After she was done with everything she really had to wait, she had no idea how long it had taken, but in the end the Emperor arrived first. She immediately took military precaution and pulled herself out, and in the next second, Ingrid saluted her ruler in the usual High Neelvanian was. Since they were probably quite far from each other, she used a communicator to report to her Emperor. If it was not necessary, she was simply reported.

<”My Lord! The building and the auditorium is secured, I personally checked everything myself. We are only waiting for those invited.”> she said.

The auditorium was a massive, roughly octagonal chamber, with the walls lined up with alcoves where Barons, Despots and elected officials from all over the Empire's provinces and vassal states, were seated. Several additional platforms extended upwards from the floor, with various other officials sitting in attendance, while up against the furthest wall, a massive podium was erected, where the members of Strategic Command, the executive branch of the Imperial government, presided over the institution's meetings, the Emperor at their center.

Down the center of the chamber, there was a long, broad walkway, with a platform at its center, where petitioners would normally stand. There, they would receive the scrutiny and possibly the scorn of the Imperial Assembly. Roughly similar in layout to the Senate on Coruscant, that was where the similarities ended, at a superficial level. For this was not the institution of a democratic government, but that of an altogether different regime. Yes, there were elections in the Empire, for certain positions, but not everyone was allowed to run for office. Only those who had served in the military, could occupy positions within the Imperial government. Only those who had served in the military, were allowed to vote.

At the head of this government, serving as its leader, its Autarch, stood the Eternal Emperor. For, in the Eternal Empire, authority was not derived from the civilian population, as was the case in democracies. No, in the Empire, authority was derived from the State itself, as embodied by the totality of its military institutions, presided over by the Emperor, for the Eternal Empire was a stratocracy, a military dictatorship embracing the principles of duty, loyalty, sacrifice and order.

Thank you, apprentice, the Sith Lord responded to Ingrid telepathically. You may take your seat.

Mounting the stairs to the podium and drawing a deep breath, looking upon the assembled officials, all in uniforms, with a steely gaze, the Emperor studied the faces of the officials in attendance as he prepared to address them. They were the bureaucracy of his Empire, charged with the wellbeing of billions, with safeguarding the interests of the nation, of the State, as much as he was.

"My people," he began, as always. "Sons and daughters of the Empire. In the months since we set out from Kalidan on a mission to unify the Unknown Regions, we have accomplished much. Over a dozen major, inhabited star systems and tens of smaller colonies are now represented within the halls of this institution and the borders of our nation stretch from Lanteeb, to Cattamascar and Elenthaeus. On the beleaguered world of Bursoll II, we stood against the abomination that was the Melding Plague, saving billions of lives across the galaxy from a gruesome fate. On Annaj, we expunged the pirates and slavers who had taken up residence there, securing the shipping lanes and the worlds of the Empire from their depredations, so that trade may once again flourish."

"For the first time since the Ssi-Ruuvi invasion which devastated this part of the galaxy, order has returned to the worlds that fly the crimson triskellion banner of this nation. Through the militarization of the industry, the economy has experienced unprecedented growth. Crime and unemployment are at an all time low. And yet, there is much more to be done, for this is merely the beginning."

"Today, we welcome the representatives of the other nations of the galaxy, to discuss matters of trade that are of vital importance to the interests of this Empire. But firsts, I would address the nation to express my pride in its accomplishments. From the day of my coronation, I have been honored with the duty to lead you ever, ever onwards! And no greater nation could I have served, in the galaxy's entire history."

"Long live the Empire,"
he concluded, to the resounding thunderclap of countless fists closing over hearts, as the assembled officials saluted in response.

Diplomacy, it was the lifeblood of those who wished to establish themselves within the chaotic nature of the galaxy, the tool for everyone, weak and strong to further themselves politically, economically or even militarily. It was a necessity for all who wished to form something out of not just themselves, but the very world, system and sector they lived in. Credius knew this all too well and understood that despite his failings, he wasn't all that bad at it, after all, he had learned from his mistakes, understanding now that most diplomats and politicians were weak, buckling under the pressure of those who wielded true power and that in cases like that, it was best not to trifle with those who held the immediate sway of the people. Lessons learned after his forced exile from the Confederacy.

However, this time, the invite for diplomatic talks, possible agreements on trade and cooperation was coming from the Eternal Empire, a place known outwardly as a totalitarian faction, ruled by what many sources claimed to be a despotic, absolutist emperor and his cronies, yet Credius knew better than to instantly believe this assumptions, especially when the majority of the galaxy was being ruled by sicophants and hypocrites that were all to quick to point their finger at something that was not according to their own desires. The Galactic Alliance, the Echani Compact, all governments mingling their religious and dogmatic principles with their own brand of greed and self-righteous vanity of insurmountable proportion. However, despite his own opinion on those aforementioned governments, the Chancellor of the Left; one of the two major representatives of the Zweihander Union, believed that with proper discussion and discourse, any misgivings and political or ideological differences could be ammended.

It was of all those things, the man himself was thinking when his personal ship, a simple Loth-wolf class patrol frigate exited hyperspace and ended up quite close to the planet of Kalidan, where the summit was to be held.
"What's the situation, gentlemen?" Looking down at the choatic atmosphere, the Chancellor of the Left didn't need to even ask, as one of the ensigns quickly answered that there was a serious cold front, with high wind speeds at the very location where they were supposed to be landing. Though this technically wouldn't be much of an issue, the concern was that with such a stormfront, visibility would be close to zero as well. "Just contact their ground control and request permission to land, use the electromagnetic visuals if necessary, we won't be flying blind."

Broka could not possibly pass up the opportunity to be present at this summit. He recently returned to Annaj to oversee the execution of the provisional government ran by him, and his old friend from the corporate sector, Malicar Malicar . The construction of his palace on that world was almost complete. A typical design of a Hutt palace, built with the given materials of the planet, sitting on a mountain top overlooking the capital city of Annaj.

The news of this political summit was all Broka could ask for. He has been financially aiding the Empire through most of its campaigns. From setting up operations on Bakura, to pacifying the locals of Bursoll II. He graciously attended this summit, but did not wish to arrive crammed into a troop escort. Instead, his colossal self was put into one of the larger vehicles of the convoy, and he had plenty of food and drinks that the servants he brought with him could work with. Meanwhile, other members of his court were in another vehicle just behind Broka. It was a shame the Imperials lacked a sense of luxury for their esteemed political guests. Black Sun and Hutt Space were just as important as their soldiers in the eyes of the Hutt Lord. Yet it was no matter anyway, the Imperials tolerated his operations at best. He had to take what he could get.

Upon arrival at the meeting hall, Broka was escorted out by his servants. He had the servants bring his favorite live eels for him to eat on the trip to this place. Such a move was made public as he finished slurping up one of the eels as he lurched his colossal, fat body out of the vehicle. He got off the ramp and let out a loud, but brief, burp. The servants then brought out his mobile throne so he could get to the auditorium faster. He hovered over to the entrance to near his seating area in the auditorium with his escort of servants and his own courtiers. It was a seat placed high up in the auditorium, but far away from any point of prominence. It seemed the Imperials were trying to put him into place as they saw fit. Broka was frustrated after his efforts, but could not afford to lose the favor he accumulated through one complaint of where his chair was. At least they had an empty space for his mobile throne to land.

He was one of the last of the representatives to arrive in the auditorium. The Imperials surrounding his seating area were all too aware of the ostentatious display the Hutt had in this region of the room. Then, as Broka sat back in his seat, the Emperor made his address. Despite the ideological dogma the Eternal Empire was known for, the man was truly a politician as well. At the end of the speech, Broka chuckled a bit with the deep, infamous way Hutts tend to do from that realization. He also clapped his stubby, fat hands out of respect as well. It was not time for him to make an address, though his presence created prestige enough.

Broka kept sitting back in his throne. His servants brought him food and drink when he asked throughout the time so far. The Imperials did not make a rule for whether or not he could have his meal during the meeting, and the Hutt grew an apatite in political environments. He now watched the other representatives as if he was watching a play. He planned to sit, watch, and listen unless a perfect time came to speak.

Sneaking and being stubborn. Those were two things that Lori was known for. And after hearing about this summit, she just had to attend. Not to really disrupt, but moreso to gather intel. She needed to know more about what they were up against. It wasn't just the Eternal Empire that was a threat, but their loyalists as well. Those loyalists could easily choose to pursue the Rebels and use their capture or killings as a means to bolster their standings with the Empire.

The Eclipse Rebellion already had help from the inside of the Eternal Empire, secretly funded and aided by LE-03 (Leigh) LE-03 (Leigh) , among others. But some intel was better to get in person. They couldn't always leave it up to the Voice. They had to be able to function on their own as well, in case the Voice was ever compromised. But hopefully that time would never come.

Lori joined in with the delegation from Lanteeb, cloaked and dressed as one of the attendants of the leaders of newly acquired planet. She copied the movements and poise along with her, keeping her head down and her hands clasped in front of her. Lori carried no weapons, not wanting herself to gain any suspicion from the security detail headed by Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim . She even kept hold of her emotions. While seeing Kainan Wolfe Kainan Wolfe from afar for the first time, she only let slip a feeling of awe accompanied by a small amount of fear. Such feelings were normal among those that found themselves newly ruled by a powerful government that could obliterate them on a whim. So that too didn't make her suspect.

Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt was easily spotted. The Hutt was too large to not go unnoticed. She knew that he was loyal to the Empire, but loyal to himself first and foremost. It was interesting to see what he could provide here. Maybe there'd be some way that she could shatter that loyalty too.

Getting down onto the planet's surface was...arguably harder than he had anticipated, but when the patrol ship had managed to find a safe and secure landing spot, the Chancellor of the Left made no attempts to make his stay at the landing bays and platforms any longer than necessary, foregoing the dispensement of pleasantries and honors, instead just coldly handing over his identity cypher and having it checked by the local personel before making his way through the larger than life city this particular summit would be held at, quite amused with how...square everything looked, all giving off a neat, symmetrical and clean image of authority, cold in its own way when compared to the varied forms of architecture seen on places such as Coruscant or Geonosis.

The vehicles in which he had been escorted from the spaceport to the actual place where the summit would be held, seemed to allude to this same principle, square and symmetric shapes of heavy plated and armored vehicles in a straight colonne towards the very center of politics.

Unlike others though, the vehicle carrying the delegation of the Zweihander Union carried no living beings, just one pretending to still be alive and six of the most capable and beautifully crafted droids ever made by the very corporatio which had a hand in the foundation of the Union itself. Unlike when he was still a viceroy within the Confederacy, the Chancellor decided that bringing a large contingent of soldiers, guards or other kinds of servants and slaves was a bit distasteful in this gathering, yet unlike before, he was armed and armored simply because he knew that the price of a totalitarian regime was that opposition of any kind would be fiercer and more willing to go to great lengths, thus some added protection was more of a necessity than anything else. However, if necessary, he would gladly give up his weapons to any who'd request it, as the greatest weapon he had, was he himself after all.

After hearing the brief and certainly inspiring speech made by the man who apparently was the linchpin of the Eternal Empire, everyone expected to be at the summit was escorted into the massive building where the gathering would be held.

For a moment, Credius' eyes darted towards the Emperor Kainan Wolfe Kainan Wolfe , wondering if the man could sense him, after all, unlike before, it was much harder to cloak his presence within the force compared to prior to his unfortunate mutation, even if he could diminish it greatly, his mask, his concealment was no longer perfect and as he did not wear the Dolos Amulet at this moment, it was rather hard to fully mask his own presence.

Soon, his eyes wandered towards a large specimen of the Hutt species, one who was whispered to be quite the powerful figure, even if he had not yet heard of this specific specimen's exploits, gathering the name of Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt was quite easy.

Letting out a sigh, the Chancellor made his way into the auditorium, settling himself on the space allocated for him, leaving his droids behind at the entrance of the palace, where they quickly cloaked themselves not to raise any suspicion or unwanted attention.

BlpVHqS.png

Willow and Ivy had rarely travelled through space. Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt had changed that. He 'rescued' the pair from a small time crimelord, giving them a chance at experiencing luxury. Of course they were watched 24/7, and restricted in their movemebts. Yet they weren't exploited like they had been in the past. Their gifts were used only on ocassion, and they were even free to decide as to whether or not they wanted to help others with them. It was their choice. Such a freedom was a gift that they didn't want to risk being taken from them any time soon.

Dressed in robes of silver, accented with blue embroidery, the siamese twins joined at the hip and just below the shoulder exited the shuttle that contained the rest of Broka's Council. Their arms were wrapped about eachother's waists so as to better hide their attachment. They marvelled at the buildings, releshing in the fact that they had never really experienced snow before and only now got to see it with their own eyes for the very first time.

Wonder and awe, that was what occupied the twins' minds at this time. Yet they had work to do as well. Willow gently nudged Ivy. "There'll be time for sight seeing later, dear sister. It's time to do our job. It's time to see...."

Ivy nodded her head. And while Kainan Wolfe Kainan Wolfe did his speech, she closed her eyes and dipped her head, tapping into the Force. There were many spiderwebs spreading out from each individual present, some mingling together while others left the building entirely. It was those threads that wove around Broka that she followed.

Willow kept her eyes opened, looking with her own eyes, following in the direction where Ivy's focus drifted. If any were seaking to cause Broka harm, they were sure to sound the alarm beforehand.

The Emperor looked across the room, taking note of which foreign delegates have arrived and which were still on their way. "Now, let us begin today's proceedings," he declared, announcing that the Assembly was now in session. The Zweihander Union delegation had arrived ahead of the others, who were likely still held up by the storm. The Emperor did not know much about the Union's official, he had not interacted much with the man, back when they were both members of the Confederate viceroyalty, but he knew enough to suspect that Credius Credius was a pragmatist. Which was a good thing, because it would make the negotiations so much easier, as it was when the negotiating parties did not concern themselves with pointless posturing, honeyed words and appeals to emotion.

"The first item on today's agenda is the proposal of a trade agreement between the Eternal Empire and the Zweihander Union. This institution acknowledges Chancellor Credius as the designated representative of his government with the power to negotiate and sign a treaty and recognizes him as speaking on behalf of the Zweihander Union's governing authority," the Sith Lord said, reciting the formal words of acknowledging a foreign representative.

"We would first hear your the Zweihander Union's proposals and their terms and conditions. Then, we will hear the thoughts of the members of the Assembly and formulate a counter-proposal. Chancellor Credius, you may now have the floor," he spoke, signalling the foreign delegate that he now had permission to address the Imperial Assembly.

With that, he took a step back and resumed his seat, the throne fashioned from a single block of stone, cold and hard, like the Empire which it represented. Silently, he regarded the foreign official, his keen mind waiting to process his words and dissect them for every bit of hidden meaning and information, to be categorized and put to use, or filed away until the opportunity in which it became useful, presented itself.

Ultimately, the final decision would be his. He had the authority to veto, overrule or dictate to the Assembly, but the power of such authority came from it being used sparsely, sparingly and only with great consideration, in the service of purpose. Tacitus was a totalitarian ruler, but not an arbitrary one, no good ruler ever was. Since this was just a matter of trade, he would cede this decision to the Assembly, unless he gleamed something in Credius' proposals which he deemed as potentially dangerous to the interests of the Empire, in which case he would intervene to make adjustments.

If there was one facet of Kalidan that Malicar would never get used to, it was the chaotic, deadly weather of Kalidan. While many of the Chiss planets boasted harsh, frozen tundras, this was something altogether different. None of his ships could brave weather like this—and the ones that could would require a fortune in repairs that the shipping mogul was simply not willing to pay. As such, the heavily armored vehicles were the most practical decision for transit to the capital. He talked up a gaggle of bureaucrats during the trip that were not amused by his antics and playful personality. However, it was a win for Malicar that he was able to make the pair of female Eternal Empire representatives blush and chuckle involuntarily, which drew vicious stares from their male counterparts. But they did not say anything to the owner of Interstellar Shipping. They knew that the Chiss provided a valuable service to the Eternal Empire in the form of logistics. There was no shipping fleet in the galaxy that could boast the speed and reliability of Interstellar Shipping—this was a claim that Malicar knew he could back up with empirical proof. As such, small breaches in etiquette were often forgiven, but he was quite sure they were never forgotten…

JwgBYDE.png

The former Underlord Eshro of Black Sun strolled into the octagonal auditorium as Tacitus was introducing the representative from the Zweihander Union. As a noble from the Chiss Ascendancy, he was intrigued by this trade agreement and in truth, wished to place his company right square in the middle of it. The reasoning was twofold—one, it would be a lucrative contract. Secondly, it would allow him to see how the Chiss Ascendancy was fairing under this Union’s rule. While his people had been conquered before, it was some time ago—this was a new experience for his people. Granted, his house once exiled him, but recently the exiled status was lifted and he was welcomed back. Not to mention, a lot of his contract profits came from his home.

Taking a seat near the front where a designated seat was provided for him, Malicar gave everyone a slight small as he made his way to his seat. Mouthing “Sorry” to Emperor Tacitus as he sat down and listened…

Not yet had he managed to catch his bearings, or the Chancellor of the Left had been called upon by the Emperor to stand before all the officials present to bring forth a proposal from his own government in terms of a solid and useful trade agreement, a treaty which would not only be the starting point for potential further allignments, but it would also significantly boost the Union's internal wealth if any deal that would be made, would benefit not just the governments tied to each faction, but also the companies which ran under each faction's corporate banners.

"You have my thanks for allowing me the joyous right and honor to speak first on behalf of the very Nation and the people who I respresent, you Imperial Majesty," Credius rose from his spot, making a slight, yet courteous bow towards the Emperor, as much as it was possible while wearing his armor and cloak, the eyes behind his mask quickly scanning the people present at this summit, momentarily fixating his gaze on Malicar Malicar and not much later on a couple of youngsters who seemed to be at Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt 's beck and call, already feeling the hunger within him well up as he could feel how the tendrils of these childrens' connection to the force was scanning the room just as he was doing.

"As not many among you may know, our nation, The Zweihander Union...is a new player on the grand galactic board, yet do not mistake this seeming inexperience as a weakness, for the Union is backed by a plethora of strong, capable people and not in the least my very own conglomorate; the
N&Z Umbrella Corporation, Making a calm nod towards the Emperor, the man placed his hand against his chest, at which point a small, golden orb formed in the palm of his hand, floating around him for a moment, shining a blueish light and starting to display a lot of schematics, which were instantly transmitted to the emperor's own datapad and that of those who were considered pivotal for this endeavour. "Our expertise spans many fields within both the military and the civil markets. however, The Union is keenly aware that relying on a sole conglomorate for the provisions of material and military equipment is rather foolish. We have managed to set up contracts and agreements with smaller companies, but such contracts are but stopgaps and do not fully shape or improve our central financial situation."

Quickly, the orb showed a few reports on the Zweihander Union's recent efforts in regards to the issues in regards to Illum and the reports and articles denoting the tension coming from the Chiss corner within the same space. "Recently there have been certain misgivings and hastily, unprepared actions taken and motions declared without proper discourse or discussion, as such it is here that I want to play an open hand, so as to make sure that you, the leading body of this great Empire do not fall for the same trappings the current state of the galaxy as wrought upon us."

Waving aside the articles from the GNN, now in their stead, a short video was shown on a ship vanishing from sight, reappearing in the exact same spot unharmed and unfazed. This was ofcourse testfootage from the N&Z's most powerful hyperdrive, which was capable of doing things no other could accomplish. "We from the Zweihander Union wish to open our borders for free trade with the Eternal Empire and all companies which fly under its corporate banners. We are mostly looking for technological improvement of our manned military force, in the form of general technology and materials, in return we are willing to provide you with our state of the art Hyperdrive systemsand our extensive catalogue of raw materials, with further ammendmends, expansion certainly on the table if within an agreed upon timeperiod, this treaty turns out to be succesful and beneficial to both our nations' wealth and strength."

With that, the man took another bow, his eyes firmly fixed upon the Emperor himself. "Those were the simplest terms, I will gladly answer any questions and provide additional information and data upon request."

Karisa was late, and she hated to be so but it was unavoidable as the mechanized armor vehicle provided for transportation to the summit had broken down momentarily in the extreme weather conditions that blessed Kalidan. Though the soldiers in charge had fixed the problem almost immediately, it was the reason the Baroness of Verkuyl had been politely standing in the back of the room until after the Chancellor of the Zweihander Union, Credius Credius , spoke at the invitation of the Emperor of the Eternal Empire, Kainan Wolfe Kainan Wolfe , to open the summit.

After the leader had finished his opening remarks, long legs then gracefully took the High Regent of House Sabosen without delay to her assigned area, which was a couple of spots over from Malicar Malicar , the other Chiss in attendance. Karisa knew his pair of glowing red eyes were most likely following her as she passed by the charismatic shipping tycoon, but she did not acknowledge him so as to not bring unwanted attention to herself at this important moment.

The Baroness was new as a representative of the Imperial Assembly and was very much interested in what was happening in Chiss space especially on her homeworld of Sposia that the ZU had apparently just freed or were in the process of. Karisa scoffed at that idea. How many times had the Chiss Ascendancy allowed outsiders to come in and just roll them over? She could count two with a heavy influence from another during her almost thirty-year life span so far. Whether this time it was for better or worst, the exiled Chiss noble would listen with an open mind yet carefully discern any offers of mutual assistance that might be of benefit between the two factions going forward.

Funny thing was, she could already see the business wheels turning in her former lover's crimson eyes as her own glanced around at the other diplomats assembled for their responses to the speech so far. Some things never change.

Neferisa had her furred hide coated with speckles of white. Even her silken red garments seemed to have been whipped out by the high winds outside. Had she known of the coming weather, Neferisa would have prepared more for such an occasion. Upon her head lie a crown of gold and green, to show her royal status in such a meeting. A no doubt long, diplomatic meeting. No luxuries here, she left those behind on the ship. Snow clung to her fur where it could hold purchase, all but her long robes. Her eyes showed off something akin to childish fury.

With a rather loud huff, as if to pronounce her presence in such a dramatic manner, Neferisa strode over to take up a seat. "Whoever organized a meeting such as this, in such weather should look into forecasting. Helps with scheduling" She muttered under her breath, folding her arms before herself. These tended to bore her, even if it was with her own court they bored her.

Her eyes shifted to Tacitus, the one in charge around here. Kingly, even. Could be of royal blood himself, she had to surmise. Others were here as well. No faces she knew besides the man in charge. She had come in the middle of something about trade with a new faction, that much she knew. Raw materials. An ear flicked up at that. Materials.... "Do tell...what kind of materials do you speak of? For ship design, for commerce?" She may have spoken out of turn, but she had no care.

She just nodded at the Emperor's telepathic message and headed for her place. As usual she moved like a predator, a big cat; gracefully, elegantly, and in her every movement, death was there. As if she was just waiting to strike at something, or rather someone, but this time nothing happened. She just arrived near the emperor at her own place and took a seat there. And soon the auditorium was filled with various persons, thanks to the preparation, she would have been able to name everyone personally and tell information about them. The advantage of cold, lonely nights.

She knew about the allied opportunity with the Zweihander Union and that a representative would also be sent here today. Ingrid greeted everyone who arrived with a nod, she hadn't spoken yet, but she was watching everything and everyone in silence, as if she saw or wanted to look into the souls of others. As always, she was now looking for enemies and dangers, if necessary, she could defend her master and Emperor in time, even at the cost of her own life. Ingrid felt fair about Credius Credius 's offer, but she could give maximum advice on this issue, she did not have a real say, because there was no intelligence or secret police aspect of the matter yet.

However, she found the question of Neferisa Neferisa interesting and legitimate. She leaned forward a little curiously, then looked at the Zweihander Union’s envoy / leader. Ingrid was very curious as to what the man would say to this. She tried to reach out to the Force to figure out how honest Credius Credius can be. As always, and as expected in her job, she did not trust anyone – except her Emperor – and sought ulterior motives.

<”If I am not an intrusive lord, what do you think of the Zweihander Union so far?”> she asked that from Kainan Wolfe Kainan Wolfe telepathically.

Now was the time Broka was waiting for. He leaned forward in his seat to speak (in Huttese of course).

"<Chancellor Credius. How does your union view organizations such as Black Sun? By opening to the Eternal Empire, you also open to Black Sun. It would be necessary to consider that it acts in the interest of its hosting nation. There will not be trouble like you would expect, and the Zweihander Union would have access to the bounties of Hutt Space. It would be important to note whether or not Black Sun, will be welcomed to your people's territory.>"

Broka then sat back. The barons and nobility of the Eternal Empire tolerated his presence at best. Black Sun was like a privateer organization now. Broka wanted them to know, if they did not know already, that even though most of the people in the room do not like the Hutts or Black Sun, they still needed both those entities. In these regions of the galaxy, the fledgling nations that exist would need the connections of the underworld for commerce, information, and may other utilities. The Emperor knew that fact. Many higher-ups in the Eternal Empire's ranks knew that fact. It now came down to the lesser lords that needed to learn. It also comes down to if the new neighbors knew that fact as well.

Calmly awaiting to hear the responses, questions and remarks from those present within the auditorium, the masked man simply kept quiet, holding his hands behind his back, standing straight up with a manner of pride and nobility, his golden colored armor, with it's ostentatiously crimson colored and gold-piped overlaying cloak and hood glistening within the light. When finally, the first of the questions rose to his ears, the Chancellor of the Left turned towards the speaker, granting the strange creature a solemn nod of the head. "Currently my company and by extension, the Zweihander Union itself has the exclusivity patent on three distinct materials in various forms and compounds. The materials in question are our Ersteel compounds which have applications in both military and civil shipbuilding, droidconstruction and as general construction material, our Infinium compounds are primarily meant for use in the creation of electronics and the market of electronic components, though we also expect the most recent developments to allow more scientific use for the Infinium compounds. Lastly, we also have the Noxinium compound, of which so far Noxinium A is solely useable as a poison gas and thus only has military application, though Noxinium B is currently already being implemented as a fuel replacement for Rhodium and Tibanna. I hope this answer is to your satisfaction."

He had not yet managed to make another solemn nod towards the strange being, when all of a sudden, he could hear the distinct Hutt voice rising up, it seemed even though he did not know Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt personally, this Hutt like almost every other had a very strong and dominant voice, something which the man could really appreciate. Thus again, to show himself as a well willing participant in this summit, the Chancellor of the Left made a polite nod towards the Hutt after the question was asked, though for this question, he did had to take his time to think about formulating a suitable answer.

"Lord Broka, is it?" Credius tilted his head a bit to the side and let out a soft chuckle, what he was about to say was probably controversial, but in reality, there would be few that could be able to disagree with the reasoning that went through his mind. "From what I know...the Black Sun has been denoted as a criminal organization specialized in smuggling and theft, though I do not condone such actions personally, I am not someone to instantly condemn certain organizations or individuals based on the word of mouth. Should the Black Sun pose a risk to the wellbeing and security of the general populace within our jurisdiction, we'd ofcourse be acting against them and their actions with harsh retribution. However, I for one understand that in a sense, illegality and legality have a wide gray area in between them and as long as the Black Sun's operations do not threaten the lives of our people or the integrity of our system, we are willing to be lenient. I hope this is a satisfactory answer to your question."

Spreading his hands a bit, tilting his hands backwards and looking at all the people in the auditorium, the man felt quite in his element. He should've had a trip to the Eternal Empire much sooner, there was much to learn from them and much to give them in return. "The Zweihander Union despises only three things: Ignorance, stupidity and hypocrisy. So I want to make it absolutely clear to all those present here, as long as you act with integrity, strength of character and the intelligence befitting men and women of your status, there is nothing you need to fear from me or the government I represent."

Willow and Ivy continued their search. The intricate webs that they followed made beautiful designs. If only everyone could see them. The strands were silver, yet glittered in colours across the colour spectrum. They moved and swayed as though a breeze drifted in the room. Some stayed conected while others moved and branched off.

Today many of those strands led towards Kainan Wolfe Kainan Wolfe . But at the current moment, they also led to Credius Credius . Curiously enough the twins felt him too. Yet more often than not they refrained from looking into their own futures out of their own choice. Still, they could sense some form of interaction with him later. Whether or not it was at the behest of their employer Broka the Hutt Broka the Hutt remained to be seen.

Regardless there was much for the twins to sift through in order to keep Broka safe and on top of things. Perhaps if they did their jobs well, they'd be rewarded with more travel.

When Karisa Karisa made her way in, he had heard about the new appointment to Baroness. She would excel and soar in that new role, especially considering the medical supply specialty of that Barony. He had not spoken to her since she arrived back in the Eternal Empire. Of course, he caught her subtle glances in his direction, but interaction here, at this juncture, would be counterproductive. Such a reunion would have to wait....

The Chiss shipping tycoon listened carefully to all the words being exchanged. He was quite surprised as Broka’s rather blunt question about the Black Suns and business. Perhaps he was even more surprised by Credius’ answer, but such things were not his concern any longer, at least in the grand scheme of things. He was here as a third party, but was intimate enough with the Eternal Empire that he understood their needs and philosophies enough to be able to bridge the gap with other sovereignties when it came to trade. All organizations had to speak the language of “logistics”—nothing could materialize on its own where needed…even transit from A to B needed a means. Malicar knew he could provide that means.

Seeing a lull in the talks, the Chiss stood and made sure he would be allowed to address the assembled. With a few nods from various dignitaries and representatives from the Eternal Empire, the Chiss smiled brilliantly and said in his flowing, slightly accented Chiss voice, “Emperor Tacitus, Esteemed Representative Nargath, thank you for allowing me the privilege of addressing this most esteemed assembly. I will not presume any being’s intentions on the words that have been spoken thus far, but I am seeing common ground in the areas of trade items of mutual benefit between the Eternal Empire and the Zweihander Union. With this arrangement, I would offer my company’s shipping services to broker this trade arrangement as a third party. Interstellar Shipping is intimately familiar with the Unknown Regions hyperlanes and we currently serve the Chiss Ascendancy in this logistics capacity. In addition, I am quite familiar with the trade regulations of your systems and would easily be able to bridge the gap of tariffs and restrictions to produce an amiable contract solution for both parties. In short, my company and I are a resource at your disposal to assist in working out details of this momentous arrangement…”

Malicar knew when not to overstay or overstep. The offer was on the table. If they wished for he and his organization to aid in the process and logistics of the arrangement, he would oblige…

The Emperor listened intently as the Zweihander delegate explained his offer and the Imperial officials voiced their questions and arguments, pondering every bit of information. The Zweihander Union is... predictable, he responded to Ingrid, encoding the telepathic message into a series of images and numbers that would be incomprehensible to anyone who didn't know the proper code. A conglomeration of corporate greed, ambitions and hunger for power, I think, masquerading under the guise of civility and order. This makes them predictable and easy to control, if one dangles the proper bait in front of them.

The Chancellor's response to the Hutt's concerns seemed to confirm his suspicions. The Zweihander Union would be... flexible and pliable. "We are aware of the reputation that the Black Sun has garnered," he said. "However, here in the Empire at least, their activities have remained within the bounds of the law." Well, they had, of that Tacitus was certain, but Imperial law enforcement hadn't managed to prove anything conclusively and the Hutt had kept his organization under control. Overall, the crime rate had decreased drastically, as the most unruly and destructive gangs had been eliminated and if the price for that was to allow the Black Sun to continue its activities, then it was a worthwhile compromise. There would always be crime, regardless of society's attempts to snuff it out. At least this way, it was ordered, invisible, restricted and civilized. What the Black Sun did outside of the Imperial borders, was not the Empire's concern.

As long as this status quo continued, the Empire would continue to overlook the occasional incident, while insuring that the Black Sun kept its end of the deal by cracking down on some of its more... unruly elements, when they stepped out of line.

"As for your proposal, I think we can work with that, however I would like to make some modifications. The Empire's military technology is advanced, as you well know, particularly in the field of artillery and armor, as well as ships and infantry equipment. We would be willing to trade some of that technology, however we will not open our borders fully. Security concerns, you see."

"That being said, we are willing to eliminate trade tariffs between our nations,"
he said. "And while our own hyperdrive technology is quite sophisticated, we would be interested in those patented compounds you mentioned."

Yes, the Empire's hyperdrive technology was highly advanced indeed, however the capabilities of some of those high-end hyperdrives were a closely-guarded secret, wrapped under layers upon layers of security. He wasn't surprised the Zweihander Union's representative was unaware of this, since most of the galaxy still regarded the Empire's subspace cruisers as a mere conspiracy theory.

"So, I propose the following: tax-free trade between our nations, with the possibility of collaboration on certain research and development projects to be assessed on a case-by-case basis, due to the afore-mentioned security concerns," the Sith Lord said, waiting intently to for the Chancellor's response

Ingrid continued to watch and study and by now Broka had joined the conversation too. Naughty and bold at the same time, or just simply stupid, arrogant and arrogant? Ingrid couldn't decide this yet. She was just sure, that is not worth it, to anger Broka. He was a powerful underworld figure, whose hand reaches very far. Ingrid was absolutely sure that the Hutt would be able to make anyone's life very bitter if he wanted to. She almost laughed when the man said these that: ”The Zweihander Union despises only three things: Ignorance, stupidity and hypocrisy.”

Ingrid didn't think for a moment that anyone would believe this here, she believed that even the Zweihander Union did not believe in this. However, if they really think so, they will not remain on the political scene for long. But she lived and saw enough to know that the other was trying to play with them. But he looked amateurish and transparent enough for that, at least for the woman and she was sure for her Emperor as well. Moments later, she even received confirmation from the Emperor.

”He is trying to toying with us, but if you’ve had enough time on the playing field, it’s obvious. Not to mention he is lying to our faces. I agree, my Lord, I think the same. We hope the others are even more amateurish than him; in that case, we could even form a puppet state in the longer term if necessary. Without they actually noticing that.” she replied to the Emperor in the same way the man did.

”I will go after the Zweihander Union’s management to see who can be surrounded, who can be useful to us, if you give permission to do so, my lord, and it is necessary” she even sent a message to the Emperor.

While talking telepathically with his Emperor, she watched the others the same way as before. No one could notice that she was having a shadow conversation with the Emperor. Telepathy was the best thing they could figure out in her profession…
