Prologue
In a sporadic series of twinkling lights dotted the space around the planet of Alderaan. Ships large and small fought vigorously for control. Alderaan had a sizable force of its own. That power was tested again by the advances of Sith. The Force arrayed to assault Alderaan did not seem like a viable threat to truly give the Alderaan defensive pause.

It gave one the question if this battle front was just a distraction to keep Alderaan giving assistance to the Galactic Alliance.

The Alderaan Palace
After arriving just moments ago the Prince moved down the corridor flanked by a sizable group. All of whom advising the wayward Jedi Master on what he should do. His sister [member="Faith Organa"] was away on official business. The way they were acting gave Gar’ith the impression his mother was off world too. He could only hope they were safe as he dealt with defending Alderaan.

“This is not my first battle”, the dark hired prince spoke assertively. He was in a position of authority and he had to show there was still a chain of command. The Fleet battle had begun and the possibility of the planetary shield failing was a something that could happen.

“Do not advise me, not to”, the price was still walking to the armory. “I will personally seek to defend Alderaan with my sword”, Gar’ith was still a prince even though he was not even close in line to sit on the throne.

Garith passed through the door way and into the armory. He was going to need a suit of armor.

The Reaper of Won Shasot
"No damn it! We're on your side! Not stop fething shooting at us!"

As the Dawn had begun to approach the Alderaani fleet, a few fighters had peeled off to chase after the unmarked ship that was heading for their home. Halzyn couldn't quite blame them, but that didn't stop him from getting angry with them. They clearly had bigger problems that a single dinky little corvette.

It didn't matter though, as one of the Alderaani fighters tailing them suddenly burst into a ball of fire and wreckage, Sith fighters deciding to join in on the chase. "Feth, this day gets better and better." the Soldier said through gritted teeth as he forced the Dawn into a tight U-turn. While the Alderaani fighters had a bit less trouble quickly following the corvette, the Sith fighters were now right in front of speeding vessel. And Suddenly they weren't the corvette's armaments shredding the smaller vessels.

"Now do you believe us?!"

Ishana knew that she had only been part of her wife's journey into accepting family, and what that meant and why so many people fought for theirs. Throughout the Kro Varian system war waged on and Ishana had only been glad that they managed to arrive just before it all started. She looked over at her wife and replied with concern, "please habibti don't worry about it, alright? You know I'll always be here for you." The Balmorran pressed her forehead against her wife's, she knew what the other woman was feeling. The fear of losing her family on Balmorra had been enough to have her rethink a lot of choices.

She listened as Kaalia talked about them, "and I am more than happy to meet them. Just wish it were under better circumstances." Ishana gave her wife a reassuring smile as she pulled away and threaded their hands together. "Lead the way," she gestured and followed after her wife as they retraced the steps that Kaalia took the last time she was on Kro Var. Remote was good she thought, the Pavanos Estate was remote and survived in tact mostly. But it was enough that her parents decided to move to the Sith Empire to be closer to their daughter and daughter-in-law. "You know, when we find them and bring them back home, I realized - we're gonna need a bigger house to fit all of our family, babe." All of their growing family she should add giving Kaalia a smile. Their talks of children had increased lately but Ishana would wait until Kaalia felt it was the right time to start.

[member="Kaalia Pavanos"]

"I love you."

It was the only response that made sense to Kaalia as she tilted her head upwards slightly, placing a soft and short kiss on her wife's forehead. "I honestly don't know where I would be without you." With every choice she made, Ishana was always in the back of her mind. So many of the things she had accomplished was either for her or because of her and she would make sure to never forget that. If it came down to it, she would do anything for her without the slightest sliver of hesitation.

With threaded hands the two began to walk, something that despite being so simple helped her remain calm and collected and kept her grounded in reality, keeping out the thoughts of worst-case scenarios. Those would have to be dealt with if they came to pass, but worrying about such things now wouldn't be of any help. "Just like what I said last time, wishing it was under better circumstances," she then said with a small sigh, "I think you will like them, though. They are good people." The small talk would keep her distracted while she navigated her way to her parents' home.

"Perhaps we should look into finding a new place soon," Kaalia then said in agreement to the comment that their current home would not large enough forever. Knowing Ishana, children were only a matter of time and that alone would require more space. "We could have our next home built too, make it exactly how we want it." Finances wouldn't be an issue, of that she was certain.

"That is the town. Look, over there." She pointed in the distance at a collection of houses, not very far from where they were. "The streets look empty, but I don't see any signs of conflict from here. I think we came on time." Without thinking the woman began increasing her pace, the anticipation becoming difficult to ignore. "I wonder how they are doing."

There was a time in Ishana's life where if she had died in the next fight. She would be okay with it, but that was her past, Kaalia? Kaalia was her reason to keep going, her mind flashed back to Hoth. She swore it woud be the end and when it wasn't? When she realized just how short life was. Ishana with Kaalia's hand in hers walked alongside her wife. "Yeah..." Under better circumstances seemed to be a common trend recently. It wasn't that Ishana didn't have an opinion on the Sith Empire as of late, she did - but it came back to, under better circumstances. "Well, they're your folks so." As if that was the only reason that she needed.

She only nodded in response to the idea of finding a new place. They had been meaning to but between Balmorra and Kro Var there hadn't been time to just sit and house hunt, to look for land even. "Custom?" Ishana asked, it was rhetorical she knew but continued, "yeah, probably I mean that might be best too come to think of it."

Ishana turned to look in the direction that Kaalia pointed. "Good, then let's go-"

The Balmorran looked over to her wife, "I think their day is about to get a whole lot better with you here, habibti."

[member="Kaalia Pavanos"]

Kaalia couldn't stop a somewhat shy smile from showing and she looked downwards for only just a split second before bringing her vision to Ishana's face. "I think they will be just as happy to meet you as they will be to see me. You are their daughter in-law, after all." Her eyes went back to looking at what was in front of them and the first few buildings were mere meters away now. With every step her heart seemed to be pounding faster in anticipation as she truly began to realize how much she had missed her parents. Hopefully they would agree to come with her, she wanted them close to her.

"That's it! The house over there!" The woman instantly recognized the place; a rustic home of modest proportions with a design of a time long past, giving it the look of a cozy and peaceful place. Next to it was a garden where a number of crops were being grown. After letting go of her wife's hand she began running towards the front door and once she got there she instantly began knocking on the door. "Pa! Ma! It's me, Kaalia!" she exclaimed, not even thinking of the chance they weren't there. There was a moment of silence and Kaalia held her breath while she waited, but a few moments later she could hear careful footsteps turning into heavy ones when she said who she was. The door opened to reveal an older man in his early sixties, but it was clear he was still very much in good physical condition. He simply stood there for a moment, looking like his eyes were deceiving him until he was finally convinced that it was really his daughter standing in front of him.

"It really is you, I can't believe my eyes." The man turned his head towards the interior of the house and called out "miala! Kaalia is here!" before embracing his daughter. "I missed you."

"I missed you too, pa." A tear began streaming down Kaalia's face while they could not see her face, but she quickly wiped it away.

The father released his embrace and while in the background a trapdoor slowly opened, his eyes fell upon the other woman that accompanied his daughter. "You look exactly like how my daughter described you." A small chuckle was let out as he seemed to realize something. "I am so sorry, I haven't even introduced myself. My name is Gideon." He offered her a handshake while in the meantime Kaalia began rushing inside at the sight of her mother climbing out of the now-opened trapdoor. "I am overjoyed to see my little girl has found somebody she loves. Please, come inside. I'm certain Syrin would want to meet you too."

"Alchemist Actual, this is Enchantress: we are not reporting any spaceborne resistance. However, we have several squadrons on standby if traitorous elements were to attack. Be advised of ground-based resistance"

"Roger, will initiate landing sequence"

On a long-range patrol of the ORC's northeast she entered into, reports were most disturbing, with... treacherous elements of the GA attacking ORC spacers in the spaceport? Griet made it as fast as she could, and both ladies were lucky not to have encountered any spaceborne resistance - after all, the Suarbi system was, in fact, a backwater even under Alliance rule, where any local garrison was limited in size and scope. The spaceport, which was next to the seaport, was, given the nature of the moon, one big market for sea salt for bath use and seafood, as well as for agricultural products, so spacers hoping to carry those items for off-world sale were crucial to the local population. In fact, Griet was escorting one of those spacers hoping to return to Utapau onboard an AT-AT barge filled with foodstuffs and wood, while unloading a shipment of cuprates and dry duracrete on the tarmac. In the meantime, little did she know was that a patrol was fast approaching and she didn't want to take any chances, especially given the reports of traitorous GA elements attacking ORC spacers, and ducked behind cover.

"Cover me, Griet, until that spell can be cast" Janick told Griet, before they hid behind a conveyor belt assembly.

"Roger, roger" Griet acknowledged, while creating a Force-shield in the direction she expected the patrol to fire from.

The blip held his attention but then at that same moment there was a chiming noise from his communciations panel. He looked at it as if it owed him money shaking his head he walked over to it.

On the other end a very excited young man whose voice kept cracking, "Sir...it's the Sith again!!!" Theo felt all the blood in his body freeze, instinctively he looked up at the ceiling thinking he could see the skies. they were back, karking son of a wampah. "I'm coming put the cities on alert, move everyone into the shelters" They had just finished putting everything back together he wasn't about to let it be put to ruin again.

"I'm on my way" The communications center in the New Aldera Palace was not up and running yet. Some kind of issue with satellite feed, but the one built in the Juran Mountains would be secure for the moment. He wouldn't go there. "I'm heading to New Aldera."

He pulled his shirt on and headed out, so much for a little peace and quiet.

"Sir there's a group come to help they are being fired on." Theo nodded thinking as fast as he could, "Activate one of the platforms and provide support" There were two and if he was close enough they'd be able to assist. Otherwise they need some fighters.

Now that the Force-barrier started getting fired at, it was then time for Janick to cast her spell on the traitorous patrol that was positioned in a tight blob to open fire not only on Griet but also around the conveyor belt. On Utapau I cast that spell on one of those vandals under HiteVision's pay to prevent them from vandalizing the liquor store any further. Here I have to try something different, at the risk of it being indiscriminate: it's a psychic bomb that will hit them like a Neural Storm would; in fact, it's a Neural Storm with a blast radius, she thought, with that memory flashing back before Griet's Force-barrier failed. And then the psychic bomb detonated, with a three-meter blast radius, sufficient to engulf the patrol in its entirety while at the same time sparing both her and Griet. Griet was a little disturbed by Janick's spell, but she was lucky that the psychic bomb detonated in time to avoid the worst of the patrol firing at them. Yet Janick knew that Griet could, in fact, cast a similar spell, Force-stasis so, to her, it wasn't much of a stretch to make Griet go from Force-stasis to Neural Storm.

"What was that spell?"

"Neural Storm. Not much different from Force-stasis; in fact going from Force-stasis to Neural Storm is just a question of how to deaden the senses. With Neural Storm, you do so by overloading their nervous systems, rather than simply pinching nerves. Time to handcuff them and being them to the brig of the merchant ship"

"Neural Storm is about causing them seizures..." Griet quipped, while handcuffing the Alliance traitors.

The new Revanche-class Star Destroyers worked beautifully.

"Dispatch the Bolts, Hamas and the Talons, tag any alliance vessel in area, no man or woman bearing their mark shall survive this day." Walzer's hand balled into a fist as the painful memories of Skor's aftermath resurfaced. Unruly, undisciplined children bearing the First Order uniforms were part of the costly loss here nearly two years prior. "This is the day that the Alliance shall remember the might of the Imperials." Many of Primo Victoria's ships were of the same physical design and Walzer still bore the sentiments from his previous career. He stood with a sadistic grin, "Uvankov, dispatch the marines - collect as many of these Squibs as possible, Madame Yvarro has requested them for her ladyship [member="Taeli Raaf"]."

"Of course."

"And if you can, any half-dying Alliance soldier, take them the detention cells. We'll give her an additional gift as well."

"I'm sure her ladyship will be most pleased."

It would not be long for Skor II. Nearly six thousand meters of ships had arrived with the goal of orbital bombardment, "send word to the First Order - we invite them to crush these disgusting creatures where they stand."

"Very well."

Uvankov moved and delivered the commodore's orders with precision.

Marines would arrive via drop pod to Skor II's surface with the goal of capturing what they could for the Sith Lady.

While Griet and the crew of the freighter loading up foodstuffs bound for Utapau were rounding up the ex-GA troopers into the brig, stunned by the effects of the psychic bomb Janick called Neural Storm, something weird came for Janick, another figure, a ghost from her earlier days in ORC service, was walking the spaceside portion of the spaceport in search for Jedi. That is, in search for Griet, not believing Janick was a Jedi. Poodoo: the dark signature of that Sith Lord is unmistakable. That Mustafarian I faced on Alakaha has come for, you, Griet and I hope you can use Neural Storm on one person if that's within your level of ability, she thought, while she was readying her alchemized beskad in expectation of fighting that Sith Lord. If that's what she have to do to protect Griet, she will fight that Sith Lord and she is determined to prevail against him. And even capture him or even kill him outright if that's what she needed. That Mustafarian... back in the Republican days, he thought I could provide him with the pleasures of the flesh as any other Sith Lord think he can do to Jedi, Griet replied.

"Little witch! I could sense Griet from miles away; she has fired a psychic bomb, stunning other Alliance traitors..."

"I'm not dealing with Sith scumbags!"

"Do not interfere: this is between Griet and me!" the Mustafarian Sith Lord shouted.

Ishana let a soft smile as she followed her wife through the town as they walked through the streets and rounded corners until Kaalia was sure she had found the house. A rustic looking home almost reminded Ishana of the estate back on Balmorra her attention was drawn to the gardens where crops grew, "huh, farmers." Not quite but close enough, after all the pilot's family grew olives and grapes when their lands had been able to. The Balmorran felt her wife's hand move and soon enough the redhead was at the door of her parents house.

Quietly, Ishana had followed her wife and stood off to the side as an older man opened the door. Mr. Voldaren she suspected and her suspicions were confirmed when he said 'I missed you.' The pilot put her hand to her chest a moment as if she needed to cough, but in truth, she wanted to keep the tears from falling. Seeing her wife cry was almost always a trigger. Not that - it was bad, per say but she needed to focus. "Hi Gideon," Ishana greeted with a smile as she stepped into the family home. Her eyes were drawn to the trapdoor clever. "Ishana, nice to finally meet you." She took the offered hand and shook, just as a woman emerged from said trapdoor. Ishana knew in an instant who this was, and it was clear Kaalia had gotten most of her looks from mom. "And yes it's good to meet you..." the sentiment of circumstances undertoned in her voice.

"Well, as much as I'm sure we'd love to have tea, we need to get both of you out of here before the Empire marches through."

So Griet already knows how to perform Neural Storm at an AOE level? Or is that Force-stasis? Janick thought, while pondering the very words of the Mustafarian Sith Lord, insinuating that Griet was the one that actually cast Neural Storm on those unsuspecting troopers. While he focused on getting to Griet, she got to work getting the molecules in the outer lightsaber hilt dance fast enough to cause the Mustafarian to drop it, and/or his robes to burn, while simultaneously causing Griet to cool down because she was feeling feverish after using Force-barrier earlier. In fact, Griet was having her body temperature brought back to normal, lowered one degree Celsius, and the result of it was that the Mustafarian's lightsaber hilt heated up to about 500 degrees Celsius. Yet the pain caused by his hands burning only served to fuel the Mustafarian's rage, and the Sith in question was angry that Janick somehow interfered in his hunt for Griet. But all he could manage to do in the meantime was to zap Janick's beskad and do so over and over, up until the ability of the alchemized beskad to ground Force-lightning was reached. Once that point was reached, her hair went up and sizzled; he would be led to think that Janick was dazed and confused by now.

"Poodoo!" Griet shouted in the distance.

Location: transition to Alderaan, revertion into Alderaani space

The countdown began as the fleet neared their destination. The silent captain of his guard, Lucian, moved to stand beside him. The blonde, white hair in a pony tail reflected the paleness of his skin. Standing beside one another they were a contrast one dark and the other light. Yet despite the obvious distinction of their appearance and nature of their positions they were friends. A mutual respect being earned first by their devotion to their profession and then to their personalities.

Captain Bastet, the Cathar from Siskeen who had over two decades of naval experience, moved over to stand along the other two. "Viceroy Dib, we may be entering a battle in orbit. Orders?" The greying fur around his snout made the otherwise obsidian furred Cathar distinguished, a scar running diagonally between his eyes giving the captain a dangerous disposition.

"Diamond formation with the destroyers in a wedge position. The Bastion will take point."

The captain nodded with approval at the orders and went back to the other officers to relay orders. Lucian looked over at Derek and spoke quietly. "Think we will be the only Confederates to offer aid to our two fold allies?" The grim expression and squared shoulders was the only answer Derek gave. This trip was in response to the treaty between allies that began with FWC and then the GA. The Confederacy was a large nation, and it was easy to see how , because of its size, it had failed to see when they were needed. But on the other side of the coin there was no excuse.

As the ships dropped from hyperspace he made his way to the comms as Captain Bastet began organizing the naval fleet quickly and efficiently. The wedge began pushing into the system as the communication officer opened a channel to the palace on Alderaan, to speak with whomever was in charge. He began a message for the leader to respond.

"This is Derek Dib, Viceroy of Siskeen and representative of the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the United Siskeen Coalition. We are here to lend aid and support. I have a ship that can drop droid infantry reinforcements planet side if you wish and a fleet that can be used to augment your own navy."

As the transmission ended he looked once more out of the viewport as the fleet formation encroached further into the system.

Realizing that the Mustafarian expended a significant portion of his Force-energy to attempt zapping the beskad using Force-lightning, she might have been zapped for a few seconds, and even pushed back, she was screaming as she was being pushed back, and dragged across the tarmac in pain in the process. I hope Griet is not too late, she thought, as another patrol of traitorous GA troopers was closing in on their position. But, in a fit of rage, angry at not being able to do something with the beskad before it was filled with the anger, it was the turn for her to throw some Force-lightning of her own, using both her own source of Force-energy and the lightning stored in the alchemical beskad, and it was time for her to hit back the now-unarmed Mustafarian with that Force-lightning ability. Now she seems to have bought some time for Griet to do something about the traitorous patrol of GA troopers because the Sith Lord is now being dragged on the tarmac, in turn, while being a little roasted. And it was time for Griet to fire a psychic bomb at that patrol of traitorous GA troopers, also stunning them within a 3m blast radius, but the Mustafarian was outside that radius.

"Spare me please..."

"You're a monster: before your fate is decided, you will tell me what's your beef with Griet"

"Classified information: you do not hold proper clearance to the requested information"

"Hrm," Gideon would reply rather calmly, yet his tone implied the initial surprise was now making way for a small tinge of sadness. "So the Alliance truly is collapsing, then. I know there isn't much time and I have no doubt her mother wishes to be part of Kaalia's life just as much as I do, but that will mean this may be the last time we see our homeworld. What little time we do have left before we have to leave, I would like to spend here." It was not hard for him to understand what Ishana meant, yet as much as he wished to remain on Kro Var her knew that it would be a much more dangerous place without any government, and when it came down to their home and their daughter the latter would always prevail. "So please, allow me to welcome you to our home. Even if only for a few minutes."

The man let Ishana in before closing the door and couldn't help but smile at the sight of Kaalia and Syrin sharing an embrace. Deciding to give them another moment, he turned his attention back to his daughter's wife. "We had heard about what had happened on Coruscant and how chaos rapidly spread all across Alliance space, but we didn't know how bad things really were. With how close the planet is to First Order space, it will only be a matter of time before they come down here as well."

With her daughter in tow, Syrin then joined the two with a face that expressed a bittersweet mix of happiness and grief. "We should go with Kaalia. I don't want to have to miss our daughter any longer, whether it is safe here or not." Her husband simply nodded in agreement. No more words between the two were necessary- the choice had been made. For too long they had been forcefully separated, but that would be no longer.

"Ma, before we go," Kaalia then said to break the short silence, "I want to introduce you to my wife." Her mother, who eyed quite a bit younger than Gideon, stepped forwards to take inventory of the brunette for a moment. In the end, she gave her an approving nod and took her right hand in both of hers. "Ishana, I can see in your eyes that Kaalia is very lucky to have you. And I pride myself on knowing such things. Thank you for being there for my daughter when I could not."

True, Janick didn't have any security clearance, as far as the GA was concerned, other than for accessing classified documents pertaining to Utapau and GE-Dagobah. That was as far as she could access classified information under the legitimate need rule: she was entitled to access classified information only to the extent she was personally involved with its contents. Mainly joint naval engagements. With the Alliance being more or less dissolved around her, it was fair game for Janick to use Memory Walk on some Sith Lord, feeling that his mental defenses are still too strong to use Drain Knowledge alone. And now, in an attempt to weaken his mental defenses enough for draining, she was, in fact, inserting the equivalent of a computer virus into the Mustafarian's mind, she was, in fact, forcing the most unpleasant memories he was having of Griet to surface. And, in parallel, she had to watch out for the pain levels inside the Sith Lord as that power was acting inside him. And then the memories in question began surfacing: how he captured Griet in an early engagement, and how he subjected her to very unsavory stuff in a bedroom, the pain he inflicted onto her in that bed, and how, in the middle of one of those nights in captivity, Griet detonated what he called a psychic bomb on him, allowing her to effect an escape. And there was another key piece of information regarding Griet's past surfacing in that pass through Memory Walk. By now the Mustafarian collapsed on the ground, screaming in pain, but it was then that Janick's use of Memory Walk ended.

"Whoa, whoa, what did you do with him?"

"His mental defenses were too strong for regular Drain Knowledge, I had to subject him to Memory Walk before I could drain that painful experience he had at your hands out of him" she answered Griet, before delivering the additional piece of information. "So apparently, you were offered command over all of the One Sith's starfighter corps in exchange for freedom and, with it, betraying the Republic but refused?"

"You have to understand that the OS heavily favored Force-users in high-level command back then, to the point that even an acolyte would be given a sector's worth of starfighters to command if there was actually any Sith that had the bravery to even attempt starfighter piloting as a career. The starfighter corps was in such a ghastly state that it seemed to drive the Sith proper away, while Darth Vader decisively proved that the Force-abilities of piloting were neutral"

Ishana had no words for Gideon.

None that he didn't already know, the Alliance was in its death throws now and there was nothing to be done for it. What she didn't know was how much time they would be afforded and as it stood she knew the fleets were nearing the system from last check in. "Thank you Gideon." She replied with gratitude, "and what a lovely home." The Balmorran shared in his pain having watched her own home fall beneath the might of another Empire. Even now the idea of going back to the estates upset her family generations of work and survival had vanished in an instant. "Yeah and if I know my old pals in the First Order, it's not gonna take long..." The First Order had always been efficent and brutally so.

When Kaalia and her mother joined them Ishana offered her wife a reassuring look before she formally introduced Ishana to Syrin. "Your welcome." Althought it felt odd to even say it, it was something automatic. But, Ishana would always be there for Kaalia no matter what and in that moment she took a breath and exhaled. "Shuttle's waiting, we can beat most of the fleet's arrival and be on our way to Sith Empire territory soon."

"Are there any bags that you want me to get... or...."

Location: Susefvi -> D'Qar

"Here, the Sith Lord we're looking for! Blast him!" the commander of a Loyalist squad ordered.

The loyalist troopers opened fire at the Mustafarian Sith Lord while he was laying on the ground in pain. At least his death was quick: I wanted him to relive a specific painful memory, rather than to make him relive all of his worst memories in life: the latter is tantamount to torture, she thought, while the squad opened fire at rapid-fire rates on the Mustafarian to make sure that he was, in fact, killed. Meanwhile, Janick and Griet were retreating inside their craft while the merchant ship was about to take off for D'Qar, delivering fresh produce there, alongside bath salts and seafood, escorting it, and being proud that Griet could finally put that painful aspect of her past behind, with the Sith Lord that subjected her to unsavory stuff in the bed while in captivity being finally killed. It was time to return to D'Qar, where she would be able to get the shipment of fresh food ready to help out the refugees en route to that planet. And also she realized that she had to use Memory Walk sparingly, and only for brief periods, while also realizing that her Force-batteries are a little low.

"Lightspeed!"

"They are downstairs. We packed a number of bags in case we had to leave, whether temporarily or permanently," Syrin explained with a clear sense of hurt in her undertone. Kro Var meant a lot to her and leaving it behind would be something that would weigh heavy on both her and Gideon for quite some time, yet it was simply necessary. Her husband had already begun to move towards the opened trapdoor Syrin had climbed out of before and made his way down with Kaalia walking over right after, standing by it to take any bag that was brought upstairs. It was not much, the result of their chosen lifestyle. As years had gone by material needs had waned and they simply did not need any more than they already had.

With the bags in tow the quartet were ready to head off and after walking out the door and taking a number of steps Gideon came to a stop, then turned around to look at their home for a last time. "For many years I was convinced I would never leave our home behind. It was where we last had Kaalia in our lives then, and I simply could not let that go. Now though, I think I can make peace with it." Turning to Kaalia, he faintly smiled and nodded. "Wherever you go, Kaalia, that's where home is now."

"You have no idea how cheesy you're sounding right now, pa."

"Oh, I do."

With that, and a chuckle from Syrin to reveal her spirits were lifted at least somewhat, they properly set off towards the shuttle.
