  • Mobile Bastion
Dalab is Mandalorian for ‘Sheath’ or ‘Scabbard’ - denoting something that houses and protects a dangerous blade until it's ready to be used. In keeping with its namesake, the Dalab-class Strike Carrier is built to endure tremendous punishment while housing a deadly force of starfighters and combat personnel. She is often the focal point that a fleet is built around, providing a sense of security and stability alongside her durable construction, advanced shielding, and countermeasure systems.
  • Force Projection
Capable of carrying well over 100 starfighters, the Dalab-class can dominate a battlespace with both necessary fighter coverage, as well as a robust array of dropships and landing craft to deliver a sizable marine contingent housed within. Given the amount of assets she can bring to bear, one strike carrier could easily overwhelm the defenses of a single planet with average defenses.
  • Command Ship
With her advanced subsystems ranging from tactical, EWAR, and ECM; the Dalab carrier is designed to be the ideal command ship. She houses a tactical bridge where her captain will traditionally command the ship from, as well as a “Warmaster’s Deck” adorned with all the necessary hardware to facilitate strategic command tasks. She is also capable of offering critical indirect support to her allies, all while harrying her foes.
  • Basilisk Launch Bays
While being able to carry basilisk war droids is not a unique quality to the Dalab-class Carrier, it possesses dedicated launch bays with an internal gantry system for easy access and storage, tied to exit ports along the side of the hangar bay. This allows for rapid deployment of these droids without infringing on the deployment of other space craft.
  • Bursts of Speed
Although the Dalab is ‘average’ compared to your standard star destroyer with regard to her maneuverability and sunlight speed, she possesses significant hyperdrive and propulsion upgrades that can be used in a pinch to renegotiate her position in the battlespace; such as her SLAM drives and micro-jump capable hyperdrive systems.

  • Outgunned
Although the Dalab possesses a respectable armament, and is capable of defending herself if necessary; compared to true star destroyers of her tonnage, she is considered to be ‘below average’ in this regard. Her strength lies in her hangar bay and in her defensive capabilities - not in her performance as a battleship.
  • Limited
While Dalab strike carriers would not be considered ‘rare’ within the Mythos Fleet - given their size and sophisticated design, they are expensive to produce, and are often prioritized as targets by enemy forces due to both their value and threat level.
  • Advanced Subsystems
Even though the Dalab is distinctly a Mandalorian vessel in both concept and function, she is considerably advanced even by Imperial or Republic standards. These advanced systems provide many advantages to her, but also present real logistical and maintenance concerns. It is therefore a requirement for each Dalab-class carrier to have sufficient specialists present within her crew, otherwise she will quickly fall into disrepair and experience reduced operational effectiveness.
  • Basilisk Dependant
The Dalab’s hangar section was designed to maximize the efficient use of space. Gantries and storage racks hold the carrier’s basilisk complement, which form a considerable measure of the carrier’s total hangar capacity. The upper structure of the hangar also houses maintenance platforms and refueling lines specially built for these droids. While she can still bring to bear a significant amount of more conventional starfighter craft, one must accept that the only way the Dalab can be fully utilized is via the use of these droids.
  • Recharge Times
Despite the obvious tactical advantages her navigation systems provide her, there are notable drawbacks even still. She cannot employ these navigation systems without limit and at will. Utilization requires significant power draw, which will leave some of her other systems temporarily starved. During situations where her special navigation/propulsion systems are unavailable, she must rely on her conventional sublight equipment - which is decidedly average compared to other ships of her class.

Alongside other vessels that stand as proverbial swords and shields, the Dalab-class Strike Carrier serves as the scabbard to the blade that is the Mythos Fleet. She is capable of delivering overwhelming starfighter coverage, as well as considerable combat force projection via the Iron Howl Marines and their support craft. Although she is a carrier, she is designed with Mandalorian durability in mind with her multi-layer armor system, advanced shielding, and robust countermeasure suites.

She also bares teeth of her own, able to threaten ship classes all the way up to her tonnage, save for dedicated battleship-grade Star Destroyers. In such cases, she possesses advanced hyperdrive and sublight systems, which when combined with her angular construction - aid in her ability to escape and redeploy if necessary.

Whether serving as the anchor upon which a fleet is built, or projecting stability and power on the frontier of Covenant space; the Dalab has quickly become a crucial component of the Mythos Fleet’s doctrine.
