Crimson Tide (Sith vs. Republic Invasion of Manaan)

Major Republic force concentration in the city centre. Meatbags have successfully created a zone of temporary denial. Efficiency requires we focus on the periphery until Imperial ground forces reassert dominance. Rage unquantifiable.

He blasted some Republic snipers off the roof of Ahto City, and the Aleph-class starfighter continued zipping around.

MOVING TO GROUND BATTLE

"Grandmaster, bombers are inbound to tank position." Selena actually noticed them coming in the distance before the message was fully sent. Problematic. But not really. "Fighters are already en route to defend the position." It was a good sight to see the Republic fighters swoop in and easily run off the bombers that were without escort. Seriously, who had bombers make attacks without air support? Yes, some tanks were destroyed but others moved out of other alley ways to replace them. The defense line held strong. To presume to take on a tank column with bombers with no support. Selena could not honestly fathom why anyone would send only bombers was just odd.

Regardless. Selena got to the line. She was ready to defend this planet.

Ahto City-AA Guns
Havoc squad moved like the professionals they were, insane, slightly unhinged professionals but professionals nonetheless. They surged through the enemies they encountered like a wave of blaster fire. They carved a path through the enemy as though it was simple butchers work. The repetitive clacking of boots could be heard as his squad moved through the corridors of Ahto City and eventually reached the docks where the AA guns were located.

More than a few times the Selonian found himself cornered by Sith troopers only to be saved by the rest of his squad. Havoc made short work of anything they encountered, it was who they were, it was who they had always been.

Quickly Havoc reached the AA gun's only to find it surrounded by dozens of Sith Troopers. “Alright. Havoc time.”

Lan spoke as he motioned his team forward, it was time to fight.

Word had spread quickly of the Empire's invasion of Manaan on the world of Ossus. Having been chosen by those leading the invasion on that world, Rasu and other Republic and Jedi troops alike had been sent to the aquatic world to lend some relief to the defending Republic forces. The Sith were cunning indeed, to have thought of a counter-offensive after Ossus so quickly. Rasu just hoped that they would get there in time, so that their support wouldn't go to waste. The Republic couldn't afford to lose a world so deep in it's own territory, especially not to the Sith Empire, which is why Rasu and those accompanying her had to do everything in their power to stop the Sith from advancing any further.

Sitting in the briefing chamber of the leading star cruiser, Rasu looked out the nearest viewport, watching the bright lines of light shoot past, a common sight when travelling through hyperspace. "Thirty standard minutes till arrival" came a calm, emotionless voice over the ship's intercom.

Snapping back to attention, the Shi'ido Padawan focused back on the briefing of the situation so far on Manaan. "...and from data we have only just received, it seems our boy's on Manaan have finally succeeded in a counter-strike. They've stopped the Imperial advance." The male human leading the brief, now paused for a moment as he typed something into the large holo-projector in front of him depicting a small scale version of the surface city where the majority of the Imperials were based. A large red rectangle stopped it's slow progression up a street in the projection, and a small blue rectangle formed in front of it, blocking the red block and stopping it's movement. "Now that the Republic has finally found it's foot hold, our boys on the ground are going to need us more than ever. So you all know your mission priorities. Get into position, we'll be landing planet side in less than thirty minutes." The man then saluted to the large crowd, before finishing up with "And may the Force be with us all!" With the brief over Jedi and soldiers alike began to leave the chamber, slowly leaving the room near empty with only Rasu and a few Jedi remaining.

Looking at her fellow Padawan's, she wished them luck before heading off to her own starfighter, strapping herself in before waiting patiently for the all-clear, calming herself while thinking over the upcoming battle.

Halik primed his blasters. He looked at the Sith troopers where they were position. Yeah, they would not offer much of a threat, in fact that moment that Lan said his hilariously pathetic pun he turned the corner raised his left arm and shot a dart into the midst of them. Half a second after it hit a sith soldier in the leg it exploded. It was time to destroy.

Akodya clinched the support bar with one hand while her other set of fingers curled around the hilt of her saber in preparation of what was to come. This was to be the first time the padawan would see battle. As soon as the temple had been informed of the outbreak on Ossus, padawans and knights alike were dispatched to assist in defending the oceanic planet from the empire's attack. Akodya's eyes didn't really focus on anything. Staring straight forward with a face like stone, her thumb lightly tapped the cool metal of her weapon in time with her breathes. Her long brown hair was pulled back tightly against her face and knotted at the top to avoid getting in the way of what was to come. Out of the corner of her eye she could see a green figure, Her friend and fellow padawan of the Order Rasu, glancing out the window as they burst into hyperspace. At least the trip would be short.

The stiff calmness of the intercom voice made Akodya's jaw tighten. It irked her. Usually little things like that she could ignore, but it seemed so unnatural considering the situation every being on this ship would soon encounter. The human leading the briefing snapped her out of trance and pulled her back to reality, the girl silently but intently listening to the instructions. After a serious and somewhat melancholy salute the large crowd scattered and hurried to their designated areas for the landing. She lingered in the room for a while. It occurred to her she may not return from this task, and if she did, she'd return a different person. She was struggling to make peace with that outcome. Taking a sharp breath in Akodya did the same, gesturing to Rasu Gan to follow her to the lower end of the ship so they could enter with the first wave of foot troopers.

The cloak counting down to their landing went faster than she liked. Soon enough the ship had broken into the planet's atmosphere and was now diving to where it was to plant itself.

"Are you ready for this, Rasu?" She asked, her voice emotionless.

Dris finished putting on the blue Ahto Security uniform and loaded one of three blaster rifles and sat it next to his little control point. Well made weapon, had a nice static optic attached slightly to the front and above the rear sight post. Apparently Ahto Police spent more money on rifles than tech.

It would seem their priorities were misplaced.

As the battle expanded Dris directed the security systems as quickly as he could. A squad ambushed here, a squad there. His manipulation of such systems had lead to the heavies coming in much sooner than anticipated, and with the AA still under his control the Sith owned the sky.

What to do?

A squad of Republic soldiers was getting much too close for comfort to one of his AA batteries. While they couldn't hack the network by taking one battery they could still cause the battle to draw out longer than it needed too.

Dris leaned back in the chair and contemplated his options.

Time to put on his best acting voice. Dris mimicked the voice of a terrified officer and sent a link to their coms, attempting to get there attention, he could only hope they answered.

Ahto City – AA Guns

No day in Steph Zenima's life would be complete without her falling on her face.

Immediately her curiosity had been piqued by Doc, a surprise, for her? Knowing their relationship it was probably a surprise intervention, a trip to Spice Addicts Anonymous. Maybe he was going to hit her in the face. Hopefully it was actually none of the above but if she had to pick one of those options it was probably going to be face trauma.

“Better be somehin' ah can batter folk wi, eh Doc?!” What a nice lady she was.

They face-rolled through Ahto City, her wicked sledgehammer getting a good slice of the havoc while they traversed. This didn't actually seem a very sound tactic for the woman. You can't deflect blaster fire with a blunt weapon, you can't parry a lightsaber with a sledgehammer but Steph Zenima's brain was so dented that this didn't occur to her.

When they reached the AA guns, Steph Zenima surveyed her prey and it occurred to her that she was missing one vital element. The good old nostril food. Spicetastic fantastic. Look away, Doc.

Whilst the Imperial Fleet, and this writer, waited for opposition to appear in space, the matter of the ground assault could be focused on briefly. To this end the Sith Master gave orders that two battalions of his soldiers with their vehicles and equipment were to make themselves available for immediate surface landing.
He did not need to divert any attack craft, as it seemed that the other Imperial forces in orbit had that under control.

His landing force would insert some 10km from Ahto City and approach by aquatic transport, hoping to take the city by surprise and effect a landing to compliment the Imperial troops who had already landed in the city itself. Since the Selkath did not seem to have much in the way of heavy artillery, this move would likely not run into much trouble so long as the air was controlled.

CARVING A SWATH THROUGH THE CITY
DESTINATION: CITY CENTER

Normally the arrival of two six-meter tall battle droids would be something of a problem. But when one was presently at the helm of an AT-TT, there were few things that could be considered problematic. The idea that such garish, hulking battle droids with an illogical number of heavy armaments could 'surge' was rather laughable. Thrusters or not, when the Titan-war droids revealed themselves to Polonius, they were little more than abnormally large, expensive fodder. The AT-TT's heavy cannons squeezed off four shots and both droids immediately attempted to use their thrusters to move out of harm's way. Unfortunately, the distance a set of thrusters could move a 60 ton war droid did not exceed the explosive radius of four, high-powered blaster cannon shots.

Go figure.

But still one of the droids persisted forward, only to be polished off by a quick burst of the AT-TT's anti-personnel cannon. What marvelous wastes of Republic taxpayer credits. Still, they had managed to score some damage to Polonius, but not as much as those tanks were about to do. Beam cannons were now smacking into the AT-TT's reinforced armor, threatening to melt through. This boded far worse than anything else, TD-18 begrudgingly assessed.

"Of all the things I could be destroyed by, it had to be a legion of primitive tanks."

As fate would have it, TD-18 had a guardian Succubus looming over his shoulder. Imperial bombers shot overhead, dispensing a payload that tore through the ranks of the Liberty-class tanks like a hot knife through butter. Republic fighters attempted to intercept the bombers, but were shot down in short order. Apparently the Republic commanders were still having a hard time coming to terms with the fact that Imperial Intelligence had requisitioned Ahto's AA-emplacements. Explosions blossomed across the battlefield and more Liberty-class tanks attempted to roll forward to replace those that had been destroyed and maintain fire on the AT-TT.

TD-18 would not afford them such an opportunity. By this time the heavy cannons had recycled, and an overjoyed TD-18 opened fire once again, destroying several of the primitive tanks that had attempted to thwart the Imperial advance. Despite these successes, it was skeptical that Polonius could take more punishment. The AT-TT dawdled for a bit and allowed ranks of T1 Battle droids, E1 Battle droids, HARTs, HLATs, and HADCs to take to the forefront. Polonius could no longer afford to be on point, but it could afford to continue to sway the course of battle in the Imperial's favor through supporting the forces in front of it. The walker's cannons had an impressive enough range, after all.

"Continue the advance; leave them no time to reorganize." TD-18 ordered, savoring the sound of a Liberty-class being crushed underfoot.

Damn it Steph was in the Spice again. Rolling his eyes, Dish raised up his cannon and opened up, the powerful cannon kicking back with a powerful force. He smiled as the explosive sprung forward into the Sith troops in his way, detonating in the mix of them, engulfing the soldiers in a firey blast. His smiled faded as their bodies were torn apart by the blast, he'd wanted a quick death for them, not that.

While running towards the Walker to end the miserable life of its pilot, Alendarius noticed that the Jedi he had fought a couple of moments ago was now following him. He was trying to attack him with his bare hands, how foolish. It would only cost the Jedi his live and would bring an swift end to their fight. When the Jedi was close enough, he turned around and held his blade in front of him, ready to strike the Jedi when he was close enough. The Jedi wouldn't have a lot of time to block the attack and Alendarius was hoping that the Jedi wouldn't react fast enough and get killed his crimson blade. If not he would have to try to steer the following fight in the direction of the Walker, so that he could take it out and at the same time fight with the Jedi.

Werehouse District, in the Path to the Republic Embassy.

Kelios was a Jedi, a young Padawan but a Jedi nonetheless, and he had an talent for precognition. He felt something was wrong and in a few brief moments before it was two late, he saw the Sith move to reengage. He had few options, very few, and less time to think. He hated this. It burned him. And his rage was accidentally kindled. He had little combat experience, none- actually this was his first battle.

Suddenly he ended the lunge by pressing his feet in the ground sliding a few more feet nearly into the Sith's range. However, as he stopped he gave a vicious, angered, nearly battle-passionate roar and let loose the most powerful current of the Force via telekinesis at the Sith. Entirely disregarding his ally in the walker behind the red-skinned fiend.

This sudden move surprised the Sith. He didn't except the Jedi to just stop and use the Force to attack him. The telekinetic strike was very effective as well, it had the power of a Knight's push. While flying backwards from the blast Alendarius wondered if the Jedi was really that strong or if it had something to do with his Force Signature changing, but he stopped thinking about that when he hit the ground. After a moment of rest he got back up onto one knee and looked around. He had been kicked back a couple of meters, which was very impressive. Alendarius then stood up and acknowledged the Jedi's strength as well as taunt him ''That was good, but it won't save you or the rest of your Order of weaklings.'' This attack with the Force had hurt, a lot, and the Sith had a new source of power now. He would convert the pain into rage and fuel the Dark Side with that. This new-found strength would hopefully give him the edge in this battle.

He started moving towards the Jedi, with his Lightsaber in his right hand and the crimson red blade activated. He pointed the blade at the Jedi as he was walking, his pace was relaxed as if he had all the time in the world. He would first kill the Jedi and then all the other people who dared fight against him. He would slaughter every single one of them. The Senator, the Jedi, the republic troopers, the Walker's pilot and the rest of this forsaken city would all die, by his hand or by another's.

Werehouse District, en route to the Rep Embassy.

The Jedi still hadn't managed to get a leash on his primal anger. He was walking a fine line, a very fine line, which could end with him dying, falling to the Dark Side, or being expelled from the Order. But he didn't think about that now, all he thought about was the Sith in front of him laying bloodied and defeated on the floor. He could taste the scent of blood in the air from his ultra-sensitive feline nose and it further pushed him, inacting the predatory instincts of his ancestors.

With another booming roar, he rushed forward to engage the Sith, he was enraged but not exactly blinded by that yet. But he had switched up styles. He was fighting with an aggressive mix of a little Ataru and the jedi's staple, Shii Cho. And he made heavy use of the Double-Blade, swinging it side to side or up and down, or twisting it around his body with spins and heavy blows. It was now shown why it was such an aggressive weapon. The two points of attack gave him the ability to attack from one direction and the next in a blink of the eye.

"I am not weak!"

North Side of Ahto City

Betna heard the drones of aircraft before he saw them. He looked up from his scope and spotted the Sith gunships moving straight towards his position. They could just be looping around the battles and flanking, but they could also be coming for him. The young Mandalorian didn't want to take a chance on it and keyed his commlink.

"Republic Command, Republic Command, this is Longeye," he said into the encrypted channel. "I've got a couple dozen gunships inbound on my position. I'm relocating, can you give me some Ack-Ack to cover me?"

Without waiting for an answer, Betna picked up his rifle and what little kit he had set down and headed for the stairwell. Snipers didn't pick fights with angry gunships if they wanted to live long.

Doc was a medic, that was true. That was an empathetic person, that was number two. But there was a time when Havoc squad needed to do what Havoc squad needed to do. Doc took point (for once in his life), and rolled on the ground, bringing his carbine up to his cheek. Blasting a few Sith troopers, Doc rolled on his side, and took cover behind a lower wall, and chucked a grenade right over. It just so happened to explode right in front of a Sith, throwing them violently apart in little tiny Sith pieces.

"Something you're going to hate and love at the same time, Steph."

Doc said, pivoting on his heel and blasting another few troops. Doc was effective on his own, but he wasn't even one of the more effective parts of the squad. He popped his head up, and then leaned his rifle over, blasting a few more Sith, and making even more take cover, what little cover they had.

Ahto City – AA Guns

Aerrah tightened the throttle more on her Nexu Speeder Bike. The engines output more power adding to her speed. The eight other troopers following her atop their own bikes also increased their pace. For the last half hour they've been harassing Republic positions. Gunning down anyone out in the open, and lobbing grenades into defensive positions.

"AA ring three in under attack. We need reinforcements"!

"Lets go save em boys". Aerrah cut the bike hard to the right. Turning a ninety while still carrying on forward into an intersection. She and her squad were moving in for the save. They were just a dozen or so blocks away, and at a few hundred kilometers an hour they'd be there in a jiffy.

Flashes on the screen. The Calvary had arrived.

Dris sent a secure com to the Imperial Column of speeder bikes and keyed them.

"Imperial Speeder Column this is Senior Agent 47 hailing from a vantage point in Ahto. You have seven hostiles at the battery you're headed for and from the way they're handling our conventionals it's safe to assume that they're Special Operators. Reacomend you engage with rockets if you have any, destroy that battery if you don't think you can take it. Happy hunting."

Dris got a com from Fleet. A group of enemy starfighters was about to break atmo. Dris redirected two of the batteries and watched in silent admiration as the missiles flew from their pods.

Beautiful.

Was anybody ever going to attempt to take back the Security Offices? Dris marveled at the fact that he was able to influence the battle in such a direct way for so long simply because no Republuc elements had even so much as glanced in the direction of his hideaway.

"Odd, always saw myself as more of a Knight in the Empire's game of chess, but your opinion is your own." Marcus replied, clashing sabers with Flint just long enough to slide his hilt upwards and let Flint slice through it. Eradicating Vulspen's precious crystal instantly. Now the Jedi would never get his family crystal back, for it had been ionized. Jumping back he threw the empty hilt aside and drew his personal saber and ignited his personal saber.
