Discussion Character goals/ambitions

Character goals and ambitions are the core to understanding my characters, I think. I've been learning that more than anything while writing multiple characters, each with different goals and ideas on how to get there.

- Gwyneira Vizsla Gwyneira Vizsla goals were always the easiest to write, because they were so simplistic and realistic. Gwyn literally wanted, more than anything else, for her family to be safe and happy. She cared about the well-being of the Enclave to an extent, she always was improving her crafts and art, and she always enjoyed beating up criminals. But more than anything else, she only ever wanted her family to have it the best they could. Poor Gwyneira even gave up on her own happiness and joy after losing so many people, and completely dedicated herself to the lives of her children. Literally all she wanted was family.

- Mevia Vizsla Mevia Vizsla also has a "simple" goal, though a lot more difficult in execution. Mevia wants the glory, power, and future of both Mandalorians and the Chiss Ascendency. She wants to see her peoples finally rise from decades of oppression, exile, and abuse. She wants the Chiss Ascendency in its glory, she wants Mandalorians at the seat of a mighty empire. She also doesn't care what it takes to get there - for the most part. She even joined the Dark Empire of all groups, hoping to expand Mandalore's greatness through Death's Hand.

Mevia additionally wants that on a personal level. She wants to be genuinely strong, powerful, and self sufficient. She wants to be more than an exiled Chiss her adoptive family took pity on. She wants to feel loved for that strength to, and genuinely admired and appreciated as a soldier and as a person.

- Elise Ahana-Gwyneira Elise Ahana-Gwyneira is my most complicated character to write, in terms of goals. She has an unrealistic, unattainable goal. She literally wants the galaxy to be free of suffering, oppression, and war. She literally wants a universe with no crime, no strong people taking advantage of the weak, and nothing wrong ever happening. It's childish, juvenile, unrealistic, unattainable. She literally wants to save everyone, is going deeper into desperate measures to make that happen, and her unrealistic dream of galactic utopia is driving her over the edge. A perfect catalyst for driving her to the Dark Side, but I know that it won't end well for her, when I personally want Elise to have a happy ending. She's a genuine sweetheart and a kind soul. Her goal is simply never going to happen, and it's depressing to know that I currently have no idea how to make her see that, cope with that, and change her standings on that. "If Jedi system work, why crime not completely eradicated?"

Elise also wants to be happily coupled with Darth Malum of House Marr Darth Malum of House Marr forever.

- Aoki-Barran Mira Aoki-Barran Mira is a smaller scale version of Elise, I think, when it comes to her goals. She knows that galactic paradise is never going to happen. But she wants to figure out what kind of system works best for the safety, security, and freedom of the galaxy and fight for that goal. She wants to save who she can. She believes that the galaxy is as beautiful as it's cruel, and it's worth fighting for. Mira has always leaned towards the Imperial Pellaeonist systems that apply stricter government control and harder enforcement, but without hurting the people or violating sapient rights. She's compassionate, but willing to do what is necessary. It was awesome writing her in the NIO/ Empire because she wanted to see a flawed and cruel system reformed and made into something that could truly work.

Additionally, Mira wants the legacies of her families preserved. She is currently one of the last living members of the Aoki noble warrior family of Atrisia, and she wants to give that family the noble heritage and good reputation it deserves. She also was adopted into the Barran family, and she cares deeply for their affairs as well.

Mira is super glued and Velcro'd to Michael Barran Michael Barran and wants to protect him, serve him, and see his own ambitions and goals, similar to her own, fulfilled.

Mira additionally wants her personal family to be happy and prosperous. She wants happiness herself, even if she feels like she doesn't deserve it.

- Minako Aoki-Barran Minako Aoki-Barran is nihilistic in nature, due to being a Scar Hound, and she cares little for the galaxy's affairs or its people. She's a self centered raider who only wants to find her mom and find out why she abandoned her. Hilariously, like her mother before her, she's an Aoki Velcro'd to a Barran. She is insanely protective and attached to Thomas Barran Thomas Barran , and will fight for whatever he wants her to.

I have always played kale as the "Reluctant Leader/Big Brother Figure" towards other Jedi. Mostly due to his prowess with Shield-based force powers, as well as attempting to inspire others around him. When I first started playing Kale, he had little to no force potential in anything other than Force Bubble. And then forced him into situations in which he would need to use it in increasingly unique ways to get out of the situation. Now that he is much more mature, and has learned so much more about the force, he still relies on his "ol' reliable" of Shields and armor to be a protector, and "Support" to other Jedi.

A Duality of him, is that he was taught by Romi Jade Romi Jade , and a little bit by Coren Starchaser Coren Starchaser Who are both Masters of Combat. Having Kale train in using his Lightsaber offensively allows kale to use force powers that could be considered "supportive" or "Defensive" in a more offensive way has brought so much fun writing him.

Its from this idea of protecting everyone, that his goal isn't to be on a council, to own a massive company, or anything. He just wants to be the "Friendly neighborhood spiderman Jedi" His goal is not to be the strongest, bravest, or whatever. He just wants to be the best person he can be. And part of that is being taught by his father of "You are guilty of all the good you do not do." So he will always be a good guy. He will always be the Rock, or foundation for others, but not the most well known, or most powerful Jedi.

Sully's primary ambition is to finally be able to return to his Homeworld of Corellia and impose his rule over the planet along with the rest of the Corellian Sector. He also seeks to radically transform Corellia by essentially dismantling Corellian Culture and rebuilding it into something more akin to his own ideals and vision while also getting rid of anything associated with the old Corellian Confederation (Which he has personal beef with). This is also one of his main motives behind joining the Dark Empire given their ongoing war with the Galactic Alliance, which he sees as an opportunity to accomplish this goal and even go as far as to seize all planets once incorporated into the old Corellian Confederation when it was a Major Faction prior to it's reorganization into the High Republic, which itself would go on to merge with another Major to form the Galactic Alliance.

One major secondary goal Sully has also had in mind is a desire for revenge against everyone who has wronged him during his pursuit of his main goal (That being retaking Corellia), unwilling to give them a platform to spread their beliefs and ideology and seeking to completely erase their influence and legacy. This is to ensure that they would never pose a threat to him again and attempt to undermine his standing within the galaxy, with Sully not hesitating to use any means necessary to accomplish this goal, going as far as targeting individuals and organizations who are only associated with or have supported those who have wronged/undermined him to see that his vengeance is absolute.

Professional wise, Makai's goal is to build up his own company to rival his fathers, yet in a total different field and manner. He's aware that in twenty or so years he will also be taking over his father's business as well, but doesn't want to work under his shadow completely until then. Currently he's stepped in while his father is away and sees it as an opportunity to push his own agenda and get his name out to the verse.

Personal front, his main goal is to be a great husband and great father to his future children. A big goal is to continue the legacy started by Danger ; he and Myra Elspeth Arceneau Myra Elspeth Arceneau are the next generation for both families, so ensuring they build on what was founded will be important to him.

Marcus wants to become a great alchemist and create legendary works. However, the goal nearest and dearest to his heart is to one day corrupt a Jedi to the Dark Side.

Eloise Dinn Eloise Dinn tells herself she wants to eventually be able to stop her Sith relatives and protect others from evil. Deep down she really just wants to find a place where she feels like she truly belongs.

At this point in her story Inanna Harth Inanna Harth is focused on more simple and concrete goals: raising her family, training her apprentice, helping her homeworld rebuild.

Be careful what you wish for.
Caltin -

At this point, he is LONG living on borrowed time. I mean over 17 years with this character and I did not see him lasting more than a few months initially. At this point he is on top of the proverbial "mountain" in many respects, and I want to see him spend that time "throwing rope" to those climbing up to reach that point.

Connel -

I want him to challenge me in ways Caltin never did, so I want him to deal with the emotions that Caltin embraced. So he is on a long hard road.

For herself Minerva's main goal is to form a clan or join an existing one. Basically she wants a family to belong with and continue her version of the Mandalorian Creed. Though her latter experiences with Enclave had made Minerva a lot more wary about the intentions of Mandalorian leaders and their factions. Underneath it all she is afraid of her faith being shattered again yet wants that family.

Failing that she would settle for living and dying as an honorable warrior.

As for her hopes for her people Minerva dreams that Mandalorian space will remain fully free and strong, continuing their warrior ways but without indulging in unprovoked aggression nor wasteful crusades. Of course by now she is well aware it is easier said than done.

Gain more knowledge of the Force and the Dark side. Rise in influence and power. Help her Master with his ambitions for the Outer Rim. Bring a Jedi to faith in the Dark. Carry on her Marr bloodline by having her own family. Find who her father is and maybe kill him for abandoning her and her mother to slavery. Rise in rank to Knight, and then Master. Take on her own apprentice(s). Become someone from no one and leave a legacy behind when her time has finally run its course.

While his goals and ambitions will surely change with time and growth, and he is a brand new character to the setting. Ailmar is going out and doing what he loves most, fighting against the oppression of so many innocent souls, and diving into the deepest parts of the galaxy to find hidden treasures and lost relics. Like most he wants to settle down at some point but is more than happy to keep the fight going against an evil most others can't see or don't take action against. He's a freedom fighter through, and will continue that fight until he bleeds dry. He's tempted to pledge himself fully to the GA during the coming wars as a Ranger or Privateer, but the rank and file life style just doesn't suit him or his crew. Lastly, Ailmar is still very young for his position and green at that. He's the rich kid that decided to get down and dirty for what he believes in instead of sitting on his hands and donating money to solve the problem. And because of that he wants to prove to himself and his crew that he knows what he's doing, and truly learn from the best and his own experiences to make the most of his short time in the galactic spotlight.

For Katarine she's always just wanted freedom from the darkside and then she got into investigating and likes solving crime. Since she is one of those out of time frozen characters right now she's trying to find a place in this new galaxy and has found a good role serving NJO. She yearns for a family but it's always not been in the cards due to her backstory.

Skylar's main ambition is to create a safety net for her people in the galaxy. The Incursion is a permanent reminder of what could happen to the Leporine people, and Skylar never wishes for such an event to happen again. Skylar envisions a galaxy where the Leporine people can live in the galaxy, knowing that their future secured. Never would they have to fear extinction, nor ever feeling as if they need to bow down to others. For now that is Skylar's main driving force in this setting.

I think that Dravien's biggest goals are for the following:
1. Retake the Mandalore system from whatever nasties still inhabit it since the Hammerfall
2. Help guide and train the younger ones in the Protectors
3. Rebuild Clan Deshra. So, look out potential mates or Foundlings, This Evereni is looking to expand the clan

Ijaat? To see his people stand as their own and grow strong again, to be more than just vagabonds and war hounds to others.

Julius Sedaire Julius Sedaire I'm not really sure. To find the next fight worth fighting. Need to figure that out.
