- STRENGTHS

- Missiles, Incoming Ordnance?: The vehicle's active protection systems are very good at dealing with missiles, incoming artillery, kinetic rounds and the like. This is only further enhanced by the 'Araniik' system that the vehicle mounts.
- Anti-energy: The vehicle's armor, reactive and composite as well as its shielding and active protection systems are all made to stop or impede energy weapons fire.
- Heavy, Fast-track: The vehicle's sponson, hull and pintle weapons weapons are more than capable of tracking most targets, including low-flying aerial ones and can easily engage them without much effort.
- All-terrain: The vehicle's track system enables it to cross all manner of obstacles without issue. What it cannot cross its terrain-clearing system can easily clear for the most part.
- Mines?: Mines and explosives are no problem to this vehicle thanks to its built-in mine detection and neutralization system.
- Advanced Stabilization: The Araniik-M2 that the vehicle mounts features advanced weapon stabilization, allowing for extremely accurate fire from it's mass-driver autocannons irrespective of what manner of maneuvers the mounting platform is carrying out.
- Manda' Tactical Battlenet Compatibility: The turrets extend the vehicle's sensor net and provides more data such that the Manda's ability to coordinate weapons fire is made more effective. Additionally, the system treats Araniik-M2, Araniik-M and Araniik or similar, compatible modules in range of each other as part of a battery, allowing for better target prioritization and engaging of said priority targets.
- Powerful and Comprehensive Sensor Suite: The Araniik-M2's sensor suite affords it extremely comprehensive detection, tracking and targeting capabilities. It's sensors and scanners creative a composite profile of all targets which when paired with the analytic capabilities of the Manda battlenet module makes for a reliable and very capable platform.
- Jamming?: The Araniik is both jamming resistant and can triangulate jamming signals and compute a targeting solution to engage targets employing or covered by jamming.
- Weak Spot Identification: The system's DERP array is capable of finding and computing targeting solutions for the "weak spots" in a target's shield, by tracking down anomalies and fluctuations in the shield.
- WEAKNESSES
-
- Loader Malfunction/Feed Damage: Damage to the MMOL-2's carousel loader or the MA-02's feed will prevent new ordnance from being loaded and in the case of the latter, it will prevent new rounds lower than the damaged part of the feed from being loaded.
- Cooling System Malfunction: A cooling system malfunction in either weapon will prevent them from firing as the safety features kick in to prevent the weapon from damaging itself.
- EMP/Ion Damage: Most of the components of the system are sensitive to EMP/Ion damage, and while well protected, should said protection be overwhelmed, those components are likely to be rendered inoperable.
- Tractor Shroud: Tractor shrouds, and clever deployment of the same, can neuter the Araniik's tractor/pressor beam, negating one of it's advantages.
- Sympathetic Detonation: While the MMOL-2 is mounted internally, should a penetrating shot penetrate the weapon's outer casing and enter the ordnance storage, it could potentially set off ordnance, sympathetically detonating other stored ordnance and quite possibly destroying the platform the Araniik is mounted on.
- Unstable Terrain: Unstable terrain still remains impassable to this vehicle.
- Aft Vulnerability: The vehicle's rear lacks the ERA the rest of the vehicle is protected by, and is where the vehicle's engine is located at. A penetrating shot will likely immobilize the vehicle.
- Reactor: The vehicle's Isotope-5 reactor will detonate violently and spectacularly, taking the entire vehicle with it, should it overload.
- EMP/Ion: Should any EMP/Ion damage manage to get through the vehicle's defenses then there's a high chance that many of the vehicle's sensitive electronics would become rendered useless, rendering it blind, defenseless or even completely unarmed.
- Tracks: Should the vehicle become de-tracked, it will be rendered immobile, and while it now becomes a bunker till repaired, the fact remains that it is now much more vulnerable given that it can no longer maneuver to protect its vulnerable rear.
- DESCRIPTION
-
The SPAA-01 'Kyral'buurenaar' was put into service the reimagining of its predecessor shortly after the company accepted the CIS contact. The vehicle was recently added to the company's mechanized infantry ORBAT after the recent assault on Dromond Kaas that proved that while company troops have capability to engage aircraft company mechanized infantry needed organic anti-air capabilities. Till that point the vehicle only saw service with the company's dedicated artillery and anti-air battalions. The vehicle is now being integrated with both the company's mechanized and armored battalions to ensure that both have organic anti-air and ordnance defense capabilities against enemy ordnance, starfighters and the like.
The vehicle integrates the 'Araniik'-M2 and the IFV-01M Trataab'morut Infantry Fighting Vehicle to create an SPAA system to provide troops both offensive and defensive anti-air and anti-ordnance capabilities. The new SPAA carries with it a number of benefits that the upgraded Trataab'morut Infantry Fighting Vehicle does. A whole suite of active protection systems both hard and soft kill keep the vehicle safe from missiles, kinetic rounds, artillery and even energy weapons fire. The new composite and reactive armor have, in addition to enormous weight savings, resulted in better overall protection from both kinetic weapons as well as energy weapons. The vehicle's new mine neutralization system functions for most placed explosive threats, including improvised ones. The new passenger conveyance system and crew safety system both feature a number of logistic, safety and comfort functions.
Both the Araniik-M2 and the platform that it is mounted on have a number of issues inherent to their respective platforms, however. Damage to the MMOL-2's carousel loader or the MA-02's feed will prevent new ordnance from being loaded and in the case of the latter, it will prevent new rounds lower than the damaged part of the feed from being loaded. A cooling system malfunction in either weapon will prevent them from firing as the safety features kick in to prevent the weapon from damaging itself. Most of the components of the system are sensitive to EMP/Ion damage, and while well protected, should said protection be overwhelmed, those components are likely to be rendered inoperable. Tractor shrouds, and clever deployment of the same, can neuter the Araniik's tractor/pressor beam, negating one of it's advantages. While the MMOL-2 is mounted internally, should a penetrating shot penetrate the weapon's outer casing and enter the ordnance storage, it could potentially set off ordnance, sympathetically detonating other stored ordnance and quite possibly destroying the platform the Araniik is mounted on.
This is not the mention the issues with the IFV-01N itself. However it was dressed up, the IFV-01M that it was mounted on was still a tracked vehicle and breaking its tracks would still render it immobile. Additionally the vehicle was also vulnerable from the rear as that was where both it armor is the thinnest and there was no explosive reactive armor and it would have to rely on its shields to prevent a penetrating shot to its engine. Should the vehicle's reactor become breached it will likely detonate violently enough to destroy the vehicle and everything around it. Finally, should any EMP/Ion damage manage to get through the IFV's defenses then there's a high chance that many of the IFV's sensitive electronics would become rendered useless, rendering it blind, defenseless or even completely unarmed.
