Ariana felt herself loosen up, far from ever needing a reminder as to why pulling muscles during a fight was bad, she slowly began to feel in tune with her body. It was quite different from the Force, her calves and quads flexed on command and the tension Ariana felt was a good sensation. A healthy feeling with the mind-body connection that allowed her to infuse herself with the Force, it allowed an easier time to combine the Bakuuni Hand and Convection Technique together. Her confidence grew as she felt the Force begin to flow through and around her left arm, it glowed faintly as soft white petal-like embers began to appear before disappearing moments later.

She smiled as she relaxed herself and the Force slowly stopped flowing around her arm, her eyes scanned the field and noticed more Padawans had arrived. Several had begun to pair up with another and Ariana kept looking before spotting another Padwan also understanding the importance of warming up before a sparring match. The Padawan was wearing an interesting bracelet, More like a gauntlet of some type. Ariana was curious if it was used to deflect lightsaber blows.

Approaching the stretching Padawan, Ariana bowed to her. “My name is Ariana.” She introduced herself before straightening back up. “Are you in need of a Sparring partner?”

if they're watching anyways

A droopy-eyed frog lady, dressed in a temple caretaker's uniform, waddled up to the two padawans who'd just picked each other as partners. She butted in, croaked, then thrust a tote bag into the Godoan's arms. She croaked again, then patted the girl's shoulder.

At the touch, a slight glimmer took the frog-woman's eyes -- a flash of recognition, of joy, of expectation.

Show me something new.

She turned to the other padawan, and croaked again; alien as the sound might be, it seemed to carry the meaning Don't go easy on her.

The frog-woman waddled off, finding a spot in the bleachers to sit.

Inside the bag was a sweater -- holiday themed, of course -- at a glance hand-knitted, but the careful eye of a Mist-Weaver could see the way the Force flowed through the garment. It was woven less like leisurewear and more like armour.

At the bottom, however, were strung a half dozen threads; the sweater was short, incomplete.

"No, I don't. I'm Aris."

"I'm Loomi," the Godoan greeted back with a bow. "Nice to meet you."

Well that was a good start, and Loomi wasn't completely fumbling over her words. Improvement...

A frog lady then seemed to wander in out of nowhere. She walked up to the two of them, exchanged glances charged with emotions that Loomi scrambled to decypher, then seemed to stroll off to the bleachers. A tote was now in her hands, which Loomi glanced within to see knitted clothing. Ordinary to the untrained eye, but the girl knew exactly what it was with one look from her eye.

Mist Weaving.

She turned back to the frog lady, a look of bewilderment coming to her face.

"Miss Au-" She began to mutter, but quickly stopped herself. Loomi was never supposed to have seen her after all.

How had she become a frog? Was that through Mist Weaving too? It was all so strange, but the clearest thing of all was that there was still a lot for her to learn. In time, hopefully. The sweater seemed incomplete. Loomi immediately recognized it as her next test. She threw on the sweater, beginning to repeat the woven pattern that was present in the sweater telepathically as she got into a duelist stance. Hopefully she was decent at multitasking.

"Sorry, that's... one of my teachers," Loomi stated as she drew her training saber. It technically wasn't wrong. "She just thought I was cold. I'm ready."

Hopefully. There was a lot of pressure on the line now that Miss Auteme was watching.

Aris returned the slight bow before he stepped away to make some distance. They were going to spar, he figured, so why not start right away. He turned just in time to see the frog lady step away, and Loomi put on a.. Sweater. He blinked in surprise, didn't hide it on his face for the briefest moment before he smiled and nodded his head in understanding.

Not that he understood in the slightest. Perhaps it was because she was so small that she needed the extra layers. He'd read about that before. Or maybe it was her species?

"Okay."

She said she was ready, so.. He took out a training saber he borrowed, mostly so he wasn't using a real saber and an accident happened, lifted it with both hands, and stepped forward. Fast. The inability to utilize the Force outside his own body had the inverse effect of strengthening his ability to empower himself, and it showed as he closed the distance and brought the blade down in a far heavier strike than a boy his age should be anywhere close to bringing.

Aris was faster than Loomi had expected, but she was fast herself. Between her small, lightweight frame, her mechanical legs, and her relative strenght in the force for her age, even in spite of her inexperience, speed was no doubt one of her greatest skills. It was that reason that made Ataru come quite naturally to her, a form based on speed and acrobatics first and foremost.

When a heavy overhead strike came, Loomi narrowly sidestepped it, letting the blade fall past her as she reoriented to capitalize on the new opening. She took a moment to, of course, a hestiation on where exactly to strike. She was very easily overwhelmed by stimulation, leading her to consolt her inner mind on where exactly to strike. The wrist seemed the best option, a good disarming movement that would, in a real fight anyways, be perfectly non-lethal. It seemed a good option. So that's exactly what Loomi did, making a jab at Aris's dueling hand, all while she continued to weave the armor she wore hidden in plain sight.

Maybe it was for the best that she kept it simple for now. Whatever energy her opponent had, it couldn't last forever, right? She just had to be faster.

Ko Vuto Ko Vuto

… It was Ko! Colette smiled at the fact and gave him a courteous bow to accept his challenge.

"You honor me, friend of Shan." She said as she stood back up again. "I have heard much about your skill. It will be a good spar."

And that was it. No more need for words or flowery praises. Ko was a peacekeeper, same as Colette was, and it was for the best that they focus not on what they could say but what they would do when such a thing had failed.

But where one would enter stance, Colette would simply ignite her saber and assume no such posture. Forms were predictable, and a fight was anything but. She stood still for as long as it would take until Ko was the one to make the first move. Colette wasn't going to make that first strike unless she absolutely had to, and in this case she absolutely did not have to.

… Call it an overly strict principle she adhered to.

"Am I too old for you?"

Vera blinked, and turned to see the purple-haired Padawan who had approached her. She was a bit taller than Vera was, and looked a lot more experienced, too. But that only excited the young Noble, who felt like she just found the perfect sparring partner to learn from. Someone who was more than likely above her level of skill, but still felt like someone she'd expect to be a Padawan. Maybe this session would help her develop her own skills as well.

"No, I'd love to spar!" she exclaimed excitedly. "Feel free to give me tips, too. I want to get better." Passion burned in her multi-colored eyes, and with that said, Vera stepped back.

She took the hilt of her lightsaber into her hand, briefly glanced over to Aris Noble Aris Noble one last time, and then drew in a deep breath to center herself. This was going to be her first serious spar against another Padawan, so she wanted to take it seriously. The green blade ignited, and she positioned it right in front of her, angled up and forward at about 45 degrees.

"Let's do this."

GADividerPurple.png

Oh. She was fast.

Aris blinked in surprise as Loomi stepped to the side, but he found himself smiling. Grinning, almost. This was fun. He liked that he didn't know her skills, or how well she could keep up. How she might strike back. There was the faint feeling of something wrong that he could feel from the Force, but he didn't know what she was exactly going to do. A strike, but wher- Ah.

He twisted, pulling his hand and thus the blade away from her jab. It left him further open, he knew, but he didn't seem too worried. Mostly because he stepped into his guard and brought his other hand around in a heavy punch right for her gut. One he held back on. He knew the raw strength he had could really hurt her if he wasn't careful.

And he didn't know she was actually wearing armor.

Vera enthusiastically agreed to the duel. Eloise allowed a faint smirk to curl her mouth. At least the kid seemed willing to learn, and wasn’t trying to use her famous parentage to have things handed to her for free. In spite of all the eager sycophants around her, no less…

Eloise watched Vera activate her lightsaber. She figured the Nobles had given all of their kids some pointers, but so far she wasn’t impressed. “Start with your footwork,” she said, igniting her green blade and going into a fighting stance. “Your feet aren’t far enough apart. If I were to hit you, you’d fall on your ass.

Once Vera had adjusted her stance, Eloise took a swing at her. It wasn’t going to be easy to block, but she hadn't put her full strength into the blow either. And of course, the blade was on low intensity, just hot enough to leave a welt.

"Indeed, it's about time we had this rematch Jasper"

Standing across from his friend, Silas smirked and slowly stretched out his arms. The last time they faced each other was during their padawan days, a bout that ended up in a draw. Times had changed though, both were now fully fledged knights and more powerful than their last outing. They were going to play within the rules of a duel, but he had a feeling things would be more competitive than last time, especially after what Braze Braze said to him in the pool.

"When I was teaching Braze he said you could kick my arse when it came to it" Silas said with a grin "Today I'm going to prove him wrong"

Snapping into a Sorusu stance, he finally ignited his saber and raised it in front of him "Trust me, you'll be sweating more than our last duel" he goaded this time as he began to slowly shuffle over to Jasper with a face that looked focused. Choosing to test his reactions, Silas suddenly snapped forward and sent a series of fast slashes at his chest to try and force him into an attacking role.

"He said that, huh?"

Jasper couldn't help but grin a little. Braze was so eager to talk him up. He couldn't help but feel a wave of warmth in the certainty that his student felt in regards to his abilities. Of course, Jasper also had a position of leadership to defend as well.

It didn't distract him. A series of slashes came, which Jasper was quick to deflect. He maintained his footing, his stance not wavering in the face of the incoming blows. He was trying to bait out an attack, or at least it seemed as though Silas was proading for a reaction. To perry and then strike would be far too telegraphed. Jasper needed something far more unconventional.

In a moments notice, following his perry, Jasper switched to Ataru. He'd jump up and flip over Silas, lightsaber clutched in his organic hand ready to deflect any blow that came to swat him out of the air. While doing this, the knight would do something bizarre. Unorthadox, even. He flicked his wrist, triggering the release on his mechanical arm to let it drop while over his opponent's head. He had planned on leaving his arm behind anyways, so this was at least a much more entertaining way to ditch it. He couldn't help but grin as he landed on the other side of Silas, reassuming his Makashi stance rather than capitalizing on potential disorientation.

He wanted this to last a while.

“Friend of Shan?” Ko supposed that was a fitting enough way to address him considering how he referred to her. The mention of him being skilled was also rather flattering for him as well. But he was glad to see that she was ready to get into action and for them to showcase their capabilities to their superiors.

Even with his mask and goggles, Colette could see his expression narrow as he observed her stance, or lack thereof. His mind wondered if it might be some sort of unassuming ‘Fool’s Guard’ meant to have him underestimate and not predict her next moves. Recalling how he utilized such a tactic on Braze once before in a sparring match with the younger Echani padawan.

Ko however, assumed an orthodox Ataru opening stance. A sturdy two handed grip with his training saber pointed up. With his legs and feet planted a bit past shoulder width. It was a nonverbal declaration of the fighting style he’d choose to use, a direct and opposite contrast to Colette. The Kel Dor had no compunctions about striking first and striker hard.

The alien padawan simply took a few steps back to create a bit more distance before rocking his body back and forth once to create some flow. Launching himself in the air and rapidly rotating his body and blade to generate more power and momentum. Moving into what would become a pretty committed strike once he closed the distance towards Colette. The angle of his attack being obstructed some by the intricate and flowing movement of his training saber. Once he was in range of striking Colette, all his movements culminated into a deceptively simple yet powerful one handed horizontal slash for her torso. Using speed and momentum to generate force rather than his own raw, physical strength.

If he was going to be put into the roll of the aggressor, then perhaps it was fitting that he was using ‘the aggression form’ against her. Perhaps this was more than just a clash of skill between the two padawans, but a clash of their respective principles as well.

And he didn't know she was actually wearing armor.

Loomi of course knew that she was wearing armor. She couldn't help but wince a little, not at the fact that she was about to be punched but moreso the fact that her opponent had no idea that he was about to hurt his hand hitting something he couldn't see. She acted quickly, pushing back his hand carrying his lightsaber so that she could get a full grasp on the situation. What to do...

She started by turning off her lightsaber, weaving a thread around it and her wrist to teather the weapon to her so she wasn't loosing complete control over it. From there she'd toss the hilt at his face. Not that it would actually reach his face, of course. It was on a string, like a yoyo, only allowed to go as far as the thread allowed it. From there she would pivot, anchoring her mechanical feet for extra strength before reaching out to grapple Aris's arm as it flew into her gut.

"S-sorry," Loomi stammered, "You don't wanna hit that."

Then, mustering all of her strength, to which she would use a considerable ammount of force energy to try and perform, Loomi would attempt to throw the other padawan over her shoulder.

Ko Vuto Ko Vuto

Ko wasn't wrong, it was entirely because Colette didn't want to fight in such a way that Ko was inside her mind unless she allowed him to be. A fight wasn't just a physical thing, it was as much of a psychological thing. You had to both outmaneuver and outsmart your opponent, and Colette barely knew a thing about Ko in this moment other than the fact that he seemed to want to apply her master's stance.

You know, the one that jumped all over the place like a ball or something.

As such Colette would just fall straight back into rhythm. She was no stranger to defending against this. He wanted to keep moving and she wanted to keep responding. He jumped, she just fell backwards, he swung for her torso and she caught his blade, diverted it away from herself, and let it continue on once they passed their blades over and away from Colette.

She extended her hand and pushed Ko away from her with a quick follow up to push herself within his guard, never truly giving him the space she knew that he would need to pull his maneuvers. For as long as she could, she would try to push him closer and closer to the wall that separated them from the crowd.

Would she expect it to work? Nah, but she was curious to see how he would try to break out of it.

Valery softly hummed a tune, as she walked into the training area for Knights and Masters. She wasn't quite sure if she'd be participating in any training, even though her body still allowed it, but she at least wanted to be present. Perhaps to offer advice to others who were testing their skills, or just to show support to the host of today's event.

It wasn't that long ago that Valery had organized an event just like this one.

Not far away, she already spotted Jasper Kai'el Jasper Kai'el and Silas Westgard Silas Westgard , who would undoubtedly be a fun challenge for each other. She wasn't sure if either of them had a clear edge over the other, but it hardly mattered. The purpose of today was training, not winning, so she hoped that they'd be willing to take risks and try new things.

Other than them, it seemed that most others at the Enclave were Padawans.

Vera nodded and shifted her feet a little further apart, before shifting her weight from one foot to another to get a feel for it. Eloise had been right, and Vera offered just a small smile in response to show her gratitude. But with her stance adjusted, it was also time to start sparring, and the other Padawan was quick to test her defenses. Luckily, this hadn't been her first spar, so she wasn't afraid of incoming blades, and raised her own to block it.

The force of impact caused her green blade to inch closer to her own body, but she kept it still and narrowed her eyes at the other Padawan.

"You're not messing around," Vera said before she pushed out her left hand, and attempted a subtle Telekinetic push at Eloise's knees. It wouldn't be enough to throw her around if it were to work, but throwing her balance off could maybe be enough. Vera stepped closer at the same time, and hoped to take advantage of her attack with a wider sweep of the blade, meant to lash out horizontally across Eloise's chest.

A telekinesis strike to the knees, though weak in this case, could prove disastrous. Rather than try to fight it, Eloise jumped, letting the momentum carry her through the air. She landed on her feet, having put a little distance between her and Vera. The kid’s lightsaber swiped through empty air.

"You're not messing around."

You don’t want to be babied, do you?” Eloise asked. “I fought in my first battle when I was about your age.” Her tone was neither bragging nor embittered; it was purely a statement of fact. “Compared to that, this is nothing.

“You’re already showing creativity, finding ways to use the Force to your advantage, and you aren’t above fighting ‘dirty’. That’s good.
” Closing her hand into a fist, Eloise used telekinesis to pull at Vera, trying to stagger her forward and into range. “But don’t expect your opponent not to have any tricks up their sleeve.

GADividerPurple.png

Aris just blinked as the hilt kind of just bounced off the side of his head. It didn't hurt, his body was too strong for that, but why'd she throw it like that of all things? The only thing more confusing was how he ended up airborne. It all happened too quick for him to react before he hit the ground. Then, he narrowed his eyes.

He pulled himself free, rolled across the floor to get back to his feet and make some distance.

".. What do you mean? I was holding back, it shouldn't have broken anything."

Loomi Loomi

Shan glanced over towards Nir, giving his fellow padawan a small nod of his head as the Mirialan wrapped some bandages around his hands carefully. A small frown on his face as Shan was trying to get out of his comfort zone. This probably wasn't going to be a great idea, or end well for him...but the last time he sparred with his hands, Cora ended up slapping him.

"Yeah. Just thought it would be a good idea to practice." Personally, he'd have preferred to practice without the Force. Like he had done with Cora but that wasn't exactly something that was easy to do. Either way, Shan just cracked his neck to the side before crunching his fingers together as well. "Anyway. Ready when you are. Don't worry. I'm not...great at this stuff."
