Faction: Galactic Alliance
Rank: Jedi Knight
Homeworld: Arkania
Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Age: Early-Twenties
Sex: Male
Species: Arkanian
Height: 1,9m | 6'3"
Weight: Average

Skin: Tan | Yellow synthflesh where damaged
Force Sensitive: No

Bernard is a tall Arkanian bearing his species' typical features. His stature puts him just taller than the average person, though on par with most Jedi and other notable individuals. He wears his hair short and has never been seen with facial hair, the possibility of such a fashion choice has long been debated by scholars as no Arkanian with such features has ever been observed. Yellow marks run along his skin, arcing up his neck and chin; synthflesh covering old burns created by Sith lightning that never fully healed. Most of it is concentrated on his chest, running along his arms and down to his abdomen, though the extent of his wounds isn't known to most as he favours clothing that covers those marks. Usually, he wears a Marshal's poncho, basic utility trousers, and an equipment sling, though more recently, after his departure from the Marshals, he favours a black-blue military uniform and a cape. On the battlefield he usually wears armoured plates from Jedi combat suits over the uniform to cover the most vital areas, preferring to keep the armour he wears light for the purpose of mobility.

Overarching Motivations:
- Be a Good Jedi.
- Protect the Alliance and the New Jedi Order.
Immediate Motivations:
- Win the war against the Maw.
- Repair the rift in the New Jedi Order.

He grew up learning to be a Jedi under the tutelage of his parents, among peers in a secluded temple on Arkania. He did well as a youngling, a seeming natural prodigy, much like his older brother.
However, when he was to become a Padawan the Sith fell upon the enclave and killed everyone inside (in truth it was Bernard's older brother who fell to the Dark Side). Stricken by grief and all alone, he fled the enclave and went into hiding in the Core.
Over the next years, he became a rebel lone wolf, jumping from cause to cause in a constant battle against the Dark Side's many manifestations. He never stayed with any group for long, using them as springboards for his own quest for revenge more than anything.
Following the One Sith's collapse and the start of the Core's reclamation by civilized governments, he joined one of the many newly formed Light-sided Orders as a peripheral member.
During the battle of Kuat he finally encountered his match, however. A Jedi from a rival Order by the name of Lanik entered the battle, and Bernard took his 'attack' on the 'peaceful' Kuati personal, choosing to engage in the conflict himself. After a brief pursuit and subsequent crash landing, the two clashed on Kuat's surface, though their battle proved inconclusive as both fell unconscious.
When the Jedi Order of Peace Station established itself, he saw an opportunity to once again serve the Galaxy as a true Jedi, so he joined their ranks. He made friends for the first time in a decade and began to slowly shed his icy exterior, briefly forgetting about his hatred for the Dark Side and his grudge against Lanik.
Yet, when it was revealed that Lanik had been captured and the Jedi, including Bernard, embarked on a rescue mission, he was soon reminded of the Dark Side's insidious nature. Fatefully, he was to be the one who freed Lanik from imprisonment. Lanik, at that time, was under the influence of a Sith Lord by the name of Darth Voyance, however, who used her connection to nearly kill Bernard, cementing Lanik's role as a traitor to the Jedi in Bernard's mind and reigniting the hatred he felt towards the Sith.
The next year(s) he spent recovering, entering Judicial service as part of the Alliance Marshals as he saw himself unfit for Jedi duty due to his injuries. Most of this time he spent in pursuit of Lanik, who had vanished off the face of the Galaxy, it seemed. At least until Bernard happened upon the Jedi as he was in the middle of an attempt on a Senator's (Kaito Kahoshi) life. Preoccupied with the Senator, Lanik was unable to defend himself as Bernard lunged at him, and he perished by Bernard's cyan blade then and there.
Bernard gained his revenge and returned to his duties as a Marshal content and (seemingly) at Peace, but the hunger for revenge soon came gnawing at his psyche again. He received news of a secret funeral for the late Lanik Dawnstar held on Ragoon V, by none other than the Jedi of the New Jedi Order itself.
Incensed and feeling betrayed, he stormed the funeral proceedings in disbelief. When he stood before the burning ashes of the Jedi traitor he had spent so long pursuing, he snapped and his anger turned towards his friends. Before he could act, however, Lanik's ghost appeared with final messages for the Jedi present. Despite everything, Lanik even forgave his murderer. This sent Bernard spiralling down a path of utter confusion and despair, as he realized how blinded he had been by a desire for revenge.

This sent Bernard spiralling down a path of utter confusion and despair, as he realized how blinded he had been by a desire for revenge.
Time passed as he tried to readjust to life as a Marshal and a Jedi, but he found it tremendously difficult to pursue his duties as a servant of the Light. His conscious weighed him down and he even rejected the offer to finally train under a Master. His dreams of becoming a great Jedi were broken and shattered at his feet. He retreated more and more into his duties as a Marshal of the Alliance.
That is until the Jedi set their sights on Korriban. Old fury, though greatly dulled, led him to join their attack on the Sith's ancient homeworld. His objective was clandestine. He was tasked with the destruction of a Sith Academy's library and chose the method of burning the Sith's traditions with firebombs, justifying this to himself as a way to prevent more from becoming victims of the Sith's destructive ideologies.
On Korriban, he set the bombs, but matters became complicated as Acolytes arrive on the scene. He got found out and confronted by one of them, Aradia Pavanos, and a duel ensued between them. During their confrontation, the Sith turned human before Bernard's eyes, as she pleaded in desperation for him to disable the bombs to save Acolytes' lives. Overcome by guilt, he chose compassion over justice and made an attempt to disable the fuses, but by then it was too late. The bombs' detonation was inevitable. To make matters worse, his connection to the Force was severed as he activated an ancient lightsabre that had been an heirloom in his family for millennia.
