- MASSIVE CARRYING CAPACITY: The Avalon can carry a relatively large number of forces for its size, the massive cargo bays can carry a legion of Marines and a tank battalion.
- BULWARK: The Avalon is slower than a constipated Hutt but can more than take a beating.
- NO NEED FOR TRANSPORTS: The Avalon can land open her bays to send out her payloads of troops and mech division also able to operate as a command center.
- LOW MANEUVERABILITY: The Avalon is not a very maneuverable warship, even compared to other vessels of similar size.
- WEAK WEAPONS: While the Avalon has about the same overall firepower as many of its similarly-sized opponents, most of this firepower is large numbers of smaller guns. This allows it to provide a huge volume of fire, but it has few significant weapons that can easily crack similarly-sized ships in only a few shots.
- DAMN STARFIGHTERS: There are Quad cannons, but not enough for a wing of fighters focused enough on their attack. This is a tough ship but she still needs an escort.
The Avalon came from the need for more dedicated cargo space on carriers combined with the expanded operations of the SJDF Marines. Both sides need more and both could not give way to the other, so a compromise was made. The Avalon is heavy on defensive systems but has enough firepower to commit to ship-to-ship combat. She is able to enter and operate in atmo and land both on the ground and in open water, still able to launch her payloads. There is also a state-of-the-art tactical operations center allowing for the ship to act as a command center for troops on the ground.
