    • Command Carrier: As a noted improvement to the standard issue Apocalypse-class, the ENS Tiberius possesses significant overhauls in its structural design to allow for an expanded hangar deck. Specifically, compared to standard variants, the Tiberius is 250 meters longer, and 50 meters taller in profile. In exchange, its fighter capacity has increased nearly three-fold, allowing it to serve an expanded role within the Eternal Fleet as the ideal ‘command carrier’ of Rear Admiral Aximand Sicarus. While it does not compare to the sheer fighter swarms available to his previous flagship, it does grant him the flexibility to impact the field of battle in a meaningful way.
    • Artillery Platform: True to the original design of the Apocalypse-class, the Tiberius remains a premier artillery platform; capable of devastating levels of firepower at exceedingly long ranges.
    • ”We can’t withstand firepower of that magnitude!”: While specializing as an ‘artillery platform’, the Apocalypse is equally dangerous at any other range in which it can be engaged. It boasts almost equally as devastating firepower for closer ranges in the form of Pulse Cannons, Turbolasers, Missiles, and Ion Beams. Unless a craft of similar design were to do so, or even a ship with exceedingly superior maneuverability under a seasoned captain; it would be all-but certain suicide to engage this ship without support. Even with support, all but the heaviest of battlecruiser equivalents would be hard pressed to survive the sheer ferocity of the ship’s firepower for more than a few salvos.
    • Fields of Fire: Given the increase in overall size of the Tiberius, the amount of armaments were also increased to remove significant blind spots near the rear of the mainline vessel, specifically by adding ripple pulse cannons, macro cannons, and ‘Tigris’ turbolasers in the rear sections of the ship, as well as alternating cluster positions to allow for broader fields of fire. Now, the Tiberius is no more vulnerable from behind as any other major battlecruiser in the galaxy.
    • Anchor: The Apocalypse-class is designed with top of the line defensive innovations and technologies, utilizing triple-layered armor plating, advanced shielding, and electronic countermeasures/security technologies. This allows her to fill the role of an ‘anchor’ for any fleet she is assigned to, as her intimidating profile is exceedingly adept at attracting and withstanding truly devastating levels of enemy firepower; thus affording her escorting ships the ability to stay in the battle for longer.

    • Special Issue: While the Tiberius’ status as a special issue design affords it significant improvements compared to its mainline variant, the fact remains this ship is indeed a special issue; meaning it cannot be easily replaced if totally destroyed.
    • Lumbering: Although it seems rather obvious, the Apocalypse is definitively not noted for its speed or maneuverability. While it is not the most unwieldy, it certainly excels in situations where it can prevent itself from being outmaneuvered, whether that is within a planetary blockade, or in a fleet containing adequate support vessels to protect its blind spots.
    • Slightly Oversized: While this does not present an engineering issue, it should still be noted that the Tiberius’ overall profile was enlarged to accommodate an expanded hangar deck. While the vacuum of space does much to mitigate this, it still does take noticeably more power output to propel the vessel forward, and the overall effect of the rear thrusters appears to lag behind as opposed to the standard Apocalypse-class. While the difference is small in comparison to the advantages afforded by its improvements, it is still a factor important to keep in mind during tactical situations.
    • Firing Arcs: While the Tiberius’ special design and armament layout was able to improve upon the issue of the standard Apocalypse-class’s notable ‘forward facing’ specialization of attack, the problem did not entirely go away. Instead of the crippling lack of fire coverage existing in the rear, the new layout has spread the coverage of fire more equally across all sections of the ship. While an enemy vessel would be hard pressed to find a blind spot against the Tiberius, this flagship would be unable to bring to bear all of its weapons against any single target, unless said target is exceedingly large. Best case scenario, depending on range, tonnage, and speed considerations; the Tiberius could reasonably expect to apply anywhere from 80-90% of its armaments on any single target, with a slight boost to targets positioned in front of her.
    • Tandem Reactor System: Studious engineers do well to note that the overall primary and secondary reactor system is the exact same as the mainline Apocalypse class. When coupled with the aforementioned improvements to the amount of armaments the Tiberius possesses, as well as the small, but still notable increase in power draw required to propel the vessel - one would be remiss to avoid considering the potential ramifications. Both reactor systems are more than adequate to meet the power needs of the Tiberius single handedly, but in the interests of preventing undue strain on any one system, both the HAPU and GDE-01 are utilized in tandem. Should one be disabled or overloaded, this would create a single point of failure on the other system, and would therefore increase the risk (note, not the certainty) of specific systems failing entirely despite the intent of redundancy.

With the development and deployment of the imposing Apocalypse-class Battlecruiser, requisition requests have begun pouring in for special issue refits for senior members of the Eternal Fleet. Among the first of said requests to be fulfilled is the ENS Tiberius. While not a radical redesign or refit of the mainline variant, the Tiberius does possess significant improvements to cater to the tactical style of the famous (or infamous) Rear Admiral Aximand Sicarus.

This special issue has retained the hallmark attributes of the Apocalypse class, specifically its overwhelming firepower and stalwart defensive capabilities; but takes it a step further by adding small amounts of specific weapon systems across the hull of the vessel in an effort to eliminate the blindspots it previously possessed, as well as increasing the overall profile of the ship so as to expand its hangar deck. This allows the “Tiberius Special Issue” to fill the distinct role of a ‘command carrier’. While it cannot hope to rival the sheer size and breadth of the Callides-class’ fighter swarm umbrella, the noted increase in fighter squadrons the Tiberius is able to field afford it with a tactical flexibility otherwise unavailable to normal fleet-issued variants.

This does not come without cost, however; chief of which being the noted increase in power demand the ship experiences, as well as a slight delay in propulsion caused by its increase in overall mass and tonnage. With all of that considered, the Tiberius Refit is considered a successful prototype to the ‘Special Issue’ program, and has been approved for provisional deployment under the direct supervision and command of Rear Admiral Sicarus.
