Anders' Life Day Birthday Bash (Fringe)

Today.

Today, today.

Couldn't sleep a wink last night even with Mumbles' best chamomile tea. Not only is it my birthday, but I'm throwing the biggest bash in Fringe history to honour Life Day. We've conquered slavers, handled political deals, watched the Republic tank from our vantage point beyond the One Sith and survived uncounted things.

Sabarene's coming into the fold in a big way and not only has it been a year since many things, I'm now twenty-three. Twenty three! I made it! Woo! Bucket and the Bots have been working for two days to get the hotel's massive conference rooms ready for the event. There are stations aplenty, enough places for everyone to find something they'd like. As I walk through, I take notes in my head for the people I think will be here.

The DJ Dance Hall is set up for [member="Token Waters"] and [member="Jame Kaman Dar"] to have an epic DJ Duel and keep the tunes going all night. The lights are on, the bar is hopping and the tab is open to all. "Hey this is rocking, Bucket!"

"Thought you'd like it Boss. Hey, hold still." Bucket tips his fedora back and brushes a loose curl out of my face and somehow managed to have a bejewelled bobbie pin to tuck it back.

"Happy Birthday, Boss." Bucket escorts me through a legion of bar tables, sabaac tables, life-sized Board Games (Chess, Word Games, Rock'em Sock'em Robots), a sparring ring, the hors d'oeuvres tables and a gigantic cake to a sliding door of thin paper. Inside is a quiet area made serene by an artificial waterfall and tended by the finest Atrisian Tea Masters I could find. It smells better than a bouquet, and as I leave the Tea House I know Master [member="Ilias Nytrau"] Lord [member="Lucien Cordel"] [member="Manu Xextos"] and [member="Livia Maddox"] are gonna love it. Others too. Let's see where people end up.

That leaves the guests: Weapons at the door, an astounding amount of scanning and defence brought to the place by my wonderful Fringe Military Personnel.

Oh and me. "How do I look, Bucket?"

The Droid spins me around and I laugh into the still empty space. Today for my birthday I'm as nature intended, a young woman from Naboo. [member="Mikhail Shorn"] helped me pick out the dress and I have to say the man has great tastes. "You look like the gorgeous being you are. Knock 'em dead."

"I can't wait till the people start arriving! Let's open the doors, guys! It's party time!" I trot over to the doorway as the Bots open it up and prepare to meet my guests. "HAPPY LIFE DAY!!!!"

There were few people the Sv'Yato Captain could consider friendly, if friends. Her childhood companion Andra was one of them. As the officers and some of the crew from the San Hill Class Star Destroyer filtered in, the Captain went straight to the well dressed (finally!) Naboo standing in the middle greeting everyone she could.

"Darling, you look positively radiant." Livia hazarded a small smile at their inside joke, wrapping her arm around her once and previous friend. Kissing each of [member="Anders Sivas"]' cheeks, the Vi'Nu's Captain set a package down on the gift table and limped her way forward with her cane click, click, clicking on the ground.

"It looks lovely, is this Bucket? Oh it is impressive. What an odd year, eh? Congratulations on your political career. What do you have planned next?"

In a sense I couldn’t believe I had been invited. My meetings with Anders so far had been few and far apart but I guess I’d left an impression. However, it did leave me with a problem as I quickly realized that getting to the party was the easy part. Finding an excuse for my hideously out-of-place outfit was not.

A coat, sweater and shirt was no way to dress for a thing like this, but if you asked anyone who had seen a picture of me they’d say I’ve always dressed like that. I wasn't sure if that was true or that if I was simply telling myself that to feel better. After all, I used to dress in some of the most classiest suits on Coruscant but as it stood at the moment I simply couldn’t afford a better outfit. Not that the others had to know that, of course.

The transportation reached our destination. I stepped outside and made my way towards what I would think to be the location of the party. Not that it was wrong of me to do so; the atmosphere around the big building in front of me seemed to be the biggest giveaway that I was, in fact, not wrong with my assumptions.

With a gentle push at the console I was greeted by an electronic voice bidding me welcome as the doors slid open. If the atmosphere would be considered 'obvious' on the outside there was certainly something else to be had when inside the building itself. Security approached me and took care of my 'weapons' for me. Not that I had any weapons with me but it was good to see the strict security nonetheless.

Ascending a small staircase I eventually caught sight of the host - my friend. Were they wearing a dress? This I had not expected to see. I smiled as I shook my head and approached Anders.

“Well, I’m here.” Remaining perfectly still as I stared at them felt like the right thing to do. “I hope it's been a good day.”

A small awkward laughter later and I spoke up again. “I'm just glad I'm not too late.”

It would seem small talk wasn't my strong suit yet.

An Arachnid, not a Cephalopod
Krax had been invited to a birthday party... Not one for a close friend, because he simply didn't have close friends. It was somebody named Anders, who was apparently a high-ranking member of this Fringe Empire he had joined. In his apartment at the top of his neon-lighted frigate, he strapped his cape around his neck, and a weird-looking hat on his head, and walked downstairs to the shuttle waiting to take him down to the planet.

He didn't usually carry weapons anyway, which was perfectly fine when a loud noise from your vocal chords would cause people to cover their ears and cower away. So, he stepped into the party without incident, and decided to go see the host herself. He stepped up to the small group of people, one of them was a rather attractive-looking girl in a pink dress, whom he had identified as Anders Sivas herself. Grinning, he walked up, and greeted her, "Hello, Lady Sivas. A very happy birthday to you! I'm Krax."

[member="Anders Sivas"]

This was going to be fun. Token loved parties and even more when she had something to do. A way to help people enjoy themselves. Noooo, she was not one of those girls. She just liked to make sure a party was going off without a hitch. And music? She could do that.

She knew that she needed to get there ahead of time. Make sure her music station was set up. She was going to have to man it most of the night, but she knew there were two DJs. Gave her some time to hang out. And maybe, just maybe, get Sindy dancing.

Smiling, she was looking for the being of the hour as she stepped away from the bar with a soft drink. Token was used to parties and had a perfect purple dress for this one. Finally seeing [member="Anders Sivas"] she smiled. "Happy Life Day! I figure calm music to start. Once people show up I'll speed it up."

People liked to acclimate first. And as soon as the crowd grew she would turn the music around.

Feeling very much out of place not only because of how she was dressed. Also remember the last time of how she found herself wearing such a dress upon her body. Shaking her own hair so that it flowed freely. Looking over towards her own date for the night events. Not knowing this ones personally but knowing that she wasn't going to come to the party empty handed either. Before they exit the transportation. Looking at her own date again asking for what seem to be the one hundred time. "You don't think it to much,", as she still bother by many reason how she looks. Being one that would always cover herself with layers of skins of animal. Now to look so polished. His father had done wonders.

aishwarya-rai-cannes-2010.jpg
Now for the way they meet before hand. Couldn't help but tease him some what. "Now if their is women chancing you tonight, I"m not going to pull out my right upper hook on them, I might just watch them and take bets on you.", giving him a playful wink as her own lips curved up into a grin. "Good Sir. Darien, I am ready.", in reality she was so neverous would this one like the gift that she had in her other hand to give to her.
[member="Darien Cordel"]

"Aww, bahahaha, Anatha. Bah-hah-hah." I drag out the pretence of laughing as I throw my arms around [member="Livia Maddox"]. "Abhayaradha gave up her teensy tiara, remember? And yes, now I remember. Be afraid, our antics are coming back to my brain. Back and oh . . oh my gooses! Eli! You came! Livie, it's Eli! Remember? From Coruscant!? Dude!"

Livia's standing with both hands on her cane as I spring off to greet the sorriest looking man I've ever seen in all my days. [member="Elias Truden"] showed up. Not quite the life of the party, but not the little black raincloud either, Elias is one of the very few from the 'weird old days' I not only remember but also didn't symbiotically attach to. "Elias Truden you scurvy voorpah it is amazing to see you. Like the dress? I felt like celebrating today. It's been a fantastic day and it's only getting better. You know Livia Maddox, right? Like, six years ago she was with me on Coruscant that one time, the blonde with the funny teeth. She had them fixed. Oh now she's gonna hit me! Save me Eli!" With a giggle and a fake-back-of-the-hand-on-my-forehead-faint, I toss an arm around Elias and one around Livia.

Planting a big kiss on each of their cheeks, it feels uncanny to be surrounded by two of my best friends. "You're right on time, guys. Let me introduce you around, Bucket's busy. . . oh you never met Bucket, did you? He's my bodyguard droid. He's the droid wearing the suit and the fedora checking people on the guest list. . . but Sparkles here can show you where the drinks and eats are at."

[member="Lord Theatrum"] saunters up and introduces himself. I string my arms from around Elias and Livia's shoulders and flourish into a snappy bow followed by a curtsey and offer my hand. "Pleased to meet you, Krax. High Councillor Anders Sivas at your service. Thanks for coming to my party, this is Elias Truden and Captain Livia Maddox of Sabarene's Sv'Yato Fleet. Now. . . correct me if I'm wrong but you happen to be a performer, do you not? Has a little lark told me the right story?"

Hey, it's always great to meet the talent. Speaking of talent, one of the DJ's swings up in her fab purple dress and I wave at [member="Token Waters"]. "Hey Token, happy Life Day! Thanks again for being my party's DJ. I hope the set-up is to your liking, figured you know best when it comes to the music. Yeah, calm for the beginning works for me. What sort of selection did you bring with?"

[member="Inger Strömfire"] walks in with [member="Darien Cordel"] and I can't wait to introduce the two of them to everyone. More than my birthday bash (which I am excited about to no end, let me tell you), I'm excited that this is one more way for the growing collection of the Fringe Confederation to come together, mingle and form new bonds. We're such a fledgeling kaleidoscope of political and precious entities bringing unity's as easy as herding hungry Ropos.

Ropos.

"Oh gosh! Where's Mr. Tipsy!? Iceyu, you were watching him right?! Good gosh don't let my Ropo find the food table before the guests do! Keep him away from hat racks!" Iceyu the S3 Search and Rescue Bot salutes and turns to rush after the cute, fluffy sphere of bearded mammal I adopted as my one and only pet. So apparently Mr. Tipsy decided snacking on foliage was ok. It's not the cake.

OOC NOTE: Feel free to NPC Mr. Tipsy the Clumsy Ropo, guys! Just don't hurt him, please. ;)

Speaking of slices, where's [member="Mikhail Shorn"]? "Drink anybody?"

Life Day, a birthday party? Well Yokuni got the invitation and thought it would be a great way to start to meet some people among the Fringe. He was a member after all even though he part had been a quiet one.

Entering the club Yokuni was dressed for the occasion. A dark suit, white shirt that the first couple of buttons where worn lose and without a tie. Well not knowing anyone there yet he made he way directly to the bar. Quickly putting in a order for a whiskey straight up. Leaning back upon the bar he glanced around taking in the scene before actively approaching anyone.

It was good to see [member="Anders Sivas"] again and considering that my ‘black little rain cloud’ hadn’t soured the mood yet I guess the chances of this turning into a pretty decent night had improved drastically. I nodded my head at [member="Livia Maddox"], it was good to see her too. Of course, it was Anders’ evening but it was still good to meet the people you knew. Even if I would come to remember her friend as the girl with funny teeth from now on...

“It’s a great dress.” Even if a bit pink. “It looks good.”

Their arm wrapped around me and Livia as they began talking about our first meeting. It was hard to forget that meeting from six years ago. It had only been a few months after Kana had mysteriously disappeared from me. A few months after this curse had washed over me... My mood was starting to take a turn for the worst and I shook myself awake as my eyes drifted away and I caught glimpse of the most peculiar thing. A droid dressed in a suit and fedora.

Anders would go on to explain that it was their bodyguard and that they called it Bucket. It was as much of a fitting name for a droid as any other though I had to admit he didn’t look like just any other droid. I was about to open my mouth to ask about it when the guests slowly started showing up. Anders’ arm slid away from my neck as [member="Lord Theatrum"] in all his might approached us. Someone called [member="Token Waters"] came not long after. I faked as much of a smile as I could while nodding at them in a quiet hello. I did the same at [member="Inger Strömfire"] and [member="Darien Cordel"] as they arrived. Not that I knew any of these names yet, but that would come within time. Probably.

Eventually came the question for drinks and my mind blanked. Would drinking in my state be such a good decision? I shook my head. Definitely not. Drinks meant thinking and thinking meant memories. It’d be a recipe for disaster.

“I’m good.” I gently motioned back and forth with my hand. “Don’t want to give the little raincloud anymore fuel, do we?”

I faked a laughter the same way I had at mother’s dinner parties.

“Do you want anything? It’s your day after all.”

"Thanks! I was so excited when I found it. Was gonna wear either this dress or this bright blue suit with a tie that changed colour."

[member="Elias Truden"] s mood is less wholesome than a weekend at Manu Xextos' place. In order to handle the buzz of the party, I protected and shielded my mind from the possibility to symbioze and shift with the folk at the party. I keep my mind firmly on [member="Livia Maddox"] to stay grounded, but I can still feel the waves of regret coming off of Elias. "Dude. You're at my party with friends. I got your back, Eli. I could use a chocolate malted milkshake. Wanna join me? You know me, if I got drunk on a night like this, I'd wake up three months later with no idea who I'd been."

[member="Togashi Yokuni"] sits at the bar and I've yet to say hi. Maybe this is a chance? I nod Elias over to the bar "There's tea in the back, too. I found this amazing family of Ceremonial Tea Masters on Atrisia and invited them here for the occasion. They're in the section down there, where the music won't hit so much. Peaceful, you know? My Master's coming and [member="Ilias Nytrau"] is more of the Tea and Civil conversation type. Besides, could you see Livia dancing? She'd be mortified."

Offering Togashi Yokuni my hand, I smile. "Hi, welcome to my party. I hope you're finding what you like. I'm Anders Sivas. What's your name?"

Lucien looked positively dashing that night , even if he did say so himself . He was wearing a tailor made tuxedo, he had had three of the finest artisan craftsmen at work since his invite to [member="Anders Sivas"] 's party had been delivered to him. To ensure that replicas of his attire couldn't be made he had the designs burnt and the craftsmen mind wiped.

He reached a hand out across the seats searching for the hand of [member="Selinica Miriya Cailis"] and gazed absent mindedly into the night sky. Lucien had arrived outside lady Cailis's at eight pm true to his word. He had brought with him a bouquet of rare flowers, what gentleman wouldn't arrive bearing a gift.

"It appears we have arrived my dear" he mused as the transport came to a smooth stop. He turned to Selinica with a smile as the chauffer opened his door. He stepped out first "a red carpet, how nice he thought to himself" before offering a hand to help his companion out.

Darien turned and chuckled [member="Inger Strömfire"] really was worried "You look like a noble lady my dear, farther wouldn't allow you to show him up by arriving looking anything less than polished " farther wouldnt allow either of them to make a fool of themself. Lucien's valet had personally inspected Darkens choices to ensure they met the standard. Darien recalled his farthers words, hearing them play in his head "Maintain high standards of grace and elegance in all things Darien and you will be forever infallible"

Darien tapped the seat "Its fine you will make all the other ladies too jealous to even consider chasing me" he looked out they were here. His stomach dropped his was as nervous as Inger. He was in awe of how his farther took social functions in his stride, Darien was always nervous. He wipped his hands on his pants, then reprimanded himself internally what would farther say. Finally he got out of the car then offered his hand to Inger. He lent in close "I'm not but it will do us no good to stay outside, let's find lady Sivas first"

Fringe Territory
Spencer's Couch

Channels flicked on the holoTV, images cycled through over and over. The clank of a remote tumbled down off the couch and remained on the floor for a moment. Spencer ripped open the carton of ice cream and dove her spoon into the bright green mint ice cream. Shoveling several scoops into her mouth, she watched a channel that had a few people dancing around in bright costumes. Of course she didn’t understand it, but it was the only thing that was mildly entertaining. As she devoured the stolen ice cream, she dropped a little on her humble chest and frowned. Using a hand quickly, she saved the dress she was wearing and popped the runaway ice cream sliver to her mouth.

Using the force, she called upon the remote to return to her hands and she casually began to flick through the channels again. The force held the spoon midair as she used telekinesis to move the spoon in and out of the ice cream carton to her mouth. Finally she found one of her favorite holovids and smiled. Her body wiggled a bit pressing into the couch. In the back of her mind she tried to remember where she was supposed to be right now, something or someone needed her to be somewhere. The lack of her datapad was to blame for her horrible memory. The invitation hung on the fridge for Anders’ party, but Spencer was already creating a dent in the couch and in the ice cream.

Searching for the spoon with her mouth, she felt the chill of the milk running down her lower lip and once again she lost the piece of ice cream against her chest.

NOT AT THE PARTY

[member="Spencer Jacobs"]

There was duty, and then there was duty.

Deliberately, and with due consideration, Ashin shucked the very nice dress she'd picked for Anders' Life Day party. Behind the couch, she crossed the room and began procuring supplies from the pantry. Most crucial among them were chocolate chips in some quantity. She was not, however, aware of the rogue spoonful, which decided to go for a ride when Ashin's weight changed the balance of the couch cushions. Ice cream maneuvered most inconveniently.

"Got the chocolate chips," she said unapologetically, and rescued the rogue spoonful from her wife, or the other way around.

It was hardly a conversation but more of a pleasant greeting between Yokuni and a Barbel standing next to him at the bar. In fact though the thick accent the only thing he could understand from the male alien was that it seemed to be a pleasant greeting. Thankfully he had a polite exit from the conversation. The birthday girl had saved him.

Taking the young lady’s hand, with a smile of course Yokuni gently shook [member="Anders Sivas"] ‘s hand. “Thank you and yes I’m finding the whiskey here to be quite enjoyable as well as the company”, he was referring to her company more then the barbel’s, “My apologizes. My name is Togashi Yokuni of Clan Togashi. I am a Yoshavin and Elder of Clan Togashi. Sadly I have been a quiet member of the Fringe. This party does seem like a wonderful opportunity to change just that.”

It was easy to see my mood was affecting them. Even I had the ability to see that. It must have been one of the negatives for Anders being one of those fancy force users. They nodded me over to the bar and I nodded back at them. It wasn’t really as if I had been given much choice on the matter anyway. As I was about to open my mouth and speak I was cut short for the third time in a row and Anders whisked me away towards the bar. It was becoming a habit it seemed.

They spoke and a genuine laughter escaped my body as I tried to envision Livia dancing. Maybe I shouldn’t have laughed at my friend’s behalf but the thought of her breaking into dance was quite the image. I let the laughter quiet down and the image linger for a bit longer as I waited for Anders to finish their talk with the Atrisian man at the bar. I was after all in no rush to make any real conversation.

The bartender’s face as I ordered the shake said it all. I had expected a questioning and quite possibly judging look, yet the smallest spark of shame still ignited as he turned around to work his magic. Turning back from the bar to look at the others in attendance I could at least see that my outfit had managed me look rather unique.

… Unique yet broke. Which still wasn’t too far from the truth but it didn’t matter. My friend most likely appreciated me for, well, being me.

[member="Anders Sivas"]

Token smiled. This was what she could do. “It is awesome! I brought some of my own gear, well… because.” She shrugged. “Its mine, right?” She giggled. Sometimes she was really good with her words, but other times? She tripped and stuttered. Silly one, that Token. And as for her selection?

“I brought a wide array. I’m a big fan of electronic rhythms and heavy beats. But I also like the clean acoustic sounds mixed in. Do you have a preference? I can obviously tailor it, being your party an’ all.” Token smiled at [member="Anders Sivas"].

The blonde surveyed the room and gave waves at some people she knew, but still, this was a bit of a new area in the galaxy for her. Felt good, so far, but for Token, everywhere could feel like home.

When was the last time Hannibal had done anything other than slave over droid schematics? Too damn long. He hadn't bounty-hunted anything, much less left the workshop. But when the Fringe was partying hard, he had a moral obligation to be present. There was also the fact that the last time he had been to a party hosted by the Fringe, a plant-hooker had the shavit beaten out of her for trying to record the soiree. It had been the coolest thing ever. Also there had been a dragon. A dragon that Hannibal had voted for.

Really, this party had a lot of expectations to live up to. No pressure, though.

Decked out in only the finest of suits (largely funded by the feth-ton of royalties he got from his designs) and with a cigar that spoke volumes of his new-found wealth, Hannibal entered the conference room currently serving as the primary partying area. He didn't anticipate he would be doing much, since he didn't know a single mook around, but whatever. He just wanted to do something other than make up a robot. Just this once.

A party? Ohhh, she hadn't been to anything remotely close to a party in a few years... unless tech conventions counted! More and more she was finding herself out of work jumpers and in clothes well into the category of business casual and beyond. She even spent more time naked than she did in plain clothes - though plain clothes were what went on under her greasejumper, they didn't really count if they were never seen.

Tonight her hair was let down, heels were on, a dress snugly wrapped her body and there was even makeup on her face. Totally brought out her eyes, and she'd dressed herself. Did all herself, just to see the look on Token's face... and maybe to prove to her that yes, she could clean up nice without help.

And somehow, she managed to sneak up on [member="Token Waters"], toss her arms over the other girl's shoulders from behind, and give her a great, big, giggling squeeze. Yes, she was still very much sober, but for once she definitely missed Token enough to genuinely express it.

"Hey, youuuu..."

It wasn't apparent at first, when she'd come to know [member="Lucien Cordel"], that she could ever miss the particular kind of company that the man put forth. A particular society of propriety and mannerisms that she'd left behind, and for what? Experience, to see outside of the gilded cage that was oft concerned only with its occupants, and the dull life of faking it. Except this wasn't what Lord Cordel was. No, it was much more than that.

And it was far, far from fake.

The ride from her home to the party was fairly quiet, speaking to the lack of need to fill the silence. The comfort with a lack of words where words were not needed. He reached for her hand, and she let him take it. How long, after all, had it been since she'd let anyone nearly this close? There were reasons aplenty for her solitude, but perhaps it was high time to set such things aside, and let in some sense of normalcy again. Trust.

When the transport came to a smooth stop, and Lucien announced their arrival at [member="Anders Sivas"]' party to her, smiling, she couldn't help smiling back. Not too brightly, but more appreciative in design.

"So we have," she replied, and climbed out in a lovely red gown, with the help of his offered hand.
