Theed, Naboo
The days had been particularly quiet when it came to news of Naboo's Queen. It was by no means because she was not present, nor because she was not invested in all things going on with and for her planet. Quite the opposite in fact. She had been so busy, so lost in the thick of trying to maintain some sort of balance for her people as well as extend a hand to the refugees who needed assistance, that there had just been no time for her to be out and about as she desired to do. Add that to the lingering threat in the air, the ever present danger that lurked beneath the surface of Naboo, and it just hadn't been the time for appearances.
However, the young Queen had, had enough of being locked in. Enough so that she had even made an announcement to those of her inner circle; to spread word for her. She wanted something light, something uplifting, something that would allow the people to express themselves, enjoy themselves, and just put everything that was weighing down on everyone aside for just a couple of days. And so, word of an Arts and Crafts Festival spread through the streets like wildfire, and did not stop there. Naturally there was time for people to prepare for such an event. An entire week to do artistic things, or crafty things, and have a chance to display them for all to see upon the streets of Theed.
It was not just for visual displays either. Singers, poets, dancers, all were welcome to this event, to showcase their talents - so long as it was a talent that catered to clean, family fun of course. As this news spread, food and drink vendors became involved, booths for souvenirs (all of which were priced fairly as a rule set by the Queen herself), and soon enough the streets were full of light, bright things to see, experience, and enjoy.
Svana had all too eagerly dressed for the day, spoken of course to those who were always within close range of her, gone over a plan of action in case something should go awry - though she would come unglued if such disaster struck her little festival. And after Aeson had done his checks, the young Queen all too eagerly led the way out onto the streets. Music flitted to the ears, followed closely by the scent of freshly baked breads and other cooked things. There was laughter ringing in the air, bodies filtering about taking in the sights and sounds.
And it all made Svana stop, close her eyes, and sigh as she soaked it all in. This is what she wanted for her people; light, enjoyable days. And while she knew that it was impossible to think that every day could be like this one, the Queen of Naboo was now going to make it a point to have at least one day in each cycle dedicated to simple, joyous things. Everyone seemed to need it, including herself.
