Faction A Hunting We Will Go (HR/Jedi)

Sometimes the galaxy didn’t have the next target to hunt, sometimes it was only a matter of looking for a place where one could be useful. And for Jared, the Warden-Jedi, he knew where that always was. The Great Hunt.

Part of the Jedi Underground out of needing to be someone who can help the galaxy, and the Levantine Sanctum being so restrictive on their out-bound facing tactics, the Mirialan had loaded up his TIE Avenger with the right gear, weapons, mines, scanning equipment, and made his way towards the Rim of the galaxy, the area known as the Unknown Regions. He was given the coordinate, and dropped it off with the Shadow Academy and the Kattada Enclave, in case others were looking for some good deed to do.

Landing his sea-green TIE Avenger, Jared hopped out, wearing Jedi leathers, able to withstand some dark side attacks and able to make him a bit more of a foggy target in the Force. On his back, a sniper rifle, on his hip, his lightsaber, and on his shoulder, Hopper his droid. The coordinates were the meeting location, and he looked to the sky, expecting company before he went seeking these Sith wyrms.

The dense jungle was not as humid as he expected, but the low hanging fog definitely was going to make this hunt a challenge.

High overhead flew the Vigilant Reaper. The transport of Omega Squad. It was originally meant for specific missions but had proven so useful and valuable that it had become first choice outright. This was an interesting one as Jeremiel was standing on the loading ramp with Connel. The reason why is Jeremiel was the team’s jumpmaster and Connel was in H.A.L.O. Gear.

You sure you don’t need us?

For whatever this is? Maybe, don’t know yet.

Then give us five minutes to suit up.

Because the guy who called me was good friends with my father. He doesn’t call for a social call.

More reason for us to suit up.

My cousin is the pilot, he’ll keep overhead. Let me recon, when I know I need you I’ll “Click”.

That was about as much a compromise as Connel was going to give. He was not team leader, “Michael” was, but he did his own thing when he needed to and if he did, there was a good reason. Jeremiel didn’t like it, but it was a fair offer. Jeremiel reluctantly accepted the compromise, knowing Connel's experience and instincts were reliable. He trusted that if the situation escalated, Connel would signal immediately. Still, Jeremiel remained alert, ready to act swiftly if needed, ensuring the team's preparedness for whatever challenge might arise from this unexpected situation.

GREEN LIGHT! REAPER!

DROP!

Seeing the jungle from above was… interesting. It was on any other day a beautiful sight though, right now, he was angling his drop and eventual chute for the TIE… wait “TIE”? What? Luckily the HUD on his mask and visor linked up to SERAPHIM and the ship was traced to Jared. Good thing too, Connel was about to blow it up.

Hitting the ground, Connel cut and stowed the gear when he saw the other legacy. Nice ship…

She had picked up the coordinates from a connection at the Shadow Academy. Her 'return' had been a hesitant one. The tattooed jedi had endured wounds worse than any that had been inflicted upon her body. Her being bled. Bereft of her love, of the people she knew, of the organization to which she had given her loyalty, the former assassin, and Darksider, saw the slope before her that descended into black. The lure was insistent, grew louder every day she was alone. But a flicker of light burned brighter in the dark, and that flicker sent her streaking back to find...something.

This set of coordinates was the answer. Tigris wasn't one to enter a temple or headquarters and present herself. Fanfare was not her thing. Shadows, under-the radar, no drama, that was the comfort zone. Joining fellow Jedi on a Hunt was the golden opportunity to return.

Tigris' heavy interceptor arrived in time to see a familiar ship descend into the jungle. The Vigilant Reaper, Omega Squad's ship. And where Omega Squad was, Connel would be. Connel's father had been rather dear to Tigris, one of the first Master's to mentor her as a padawan. The familiar sight sent a flare of joy through Tigris' soul.

She landed the ship near the Reaper and the TIE Avenger. From the cockpit she saw its owner, Jared Starchaser, a Jedi who Tigris knew by reputation, if not personally. Gathering her gear, the Atrisian jedi descended from her ship to join the others. She approached in silence, and remained so, nodding her head to the Ranger, and then to Connel, offering a small smile.

Jax thought about creating a Jedi unit dedicated to hunting down Sith. The Jedi would've been handpicked by him, and they would undergo strenuous physical and mental training. If there was one thing that the Jedi needed were more specialized warriors and when he was done with this mission, he will get to brainstorming on what the unit could be. For now, Jax joined a ranger named: Jared Starchaser on the Great Hunt. A small group of Jedi were to trek through some ruins with Sith Wyrms being the main enemy. At least that was what Jax had heard though. Either way, if success on this mission could strike a blow against the Sith, then Jax will be all for it.

The Jedi Master landed his X-Wing in Forest and hopped out of the ship. "I sense some dark energies," Jax said to BB-12. "I'll need to be cautious."

<Hold up there meatbag!> BB beeped. <I'm coming with ya!>

Jax frowned. "Sorry," Jax said shaking his head. "You really shouldn't be coming with me...... and why the hell would you want to anyway?!"

<Because shut the frack up!> BB disembarked from the X-Wing rolling towards Jax. <Lead the way meatbag.>

"When you die," Jax grumbled walking towards Jared's location. "I'll have Jayna Ismet-Thio Jayna Ismet-Thio use your casing to build her Lightsaber."

Jax is here… He recognized the particular hum of the Jedi Maverick’s X-Wing engines. That “ring” associated with the hum of the sunlight engines was distinct, and while he could be wrong, there was the distinct aura.

Speaking of "distinct", a woman with a specific amount of tattoos all over her person was here as well. He knew her, not well, but still, it was Tigris. The mate of Eve. Strange, that the Echani had disappeared and not taken her along. That was their business though, and not his. Perhaps this was a way of testing the proverbial waters. When she smiled, he offered a tiny head bow as he checked his weapons.

Good, a few others were coming. Without a real active military target to hit, Jared had to keep practicing, and right now? It was more about protecting Jedi lives than anything else. His usual haunts, old ORC worlds, were doing just fine, but there would be a change in the tide soon that corrected that issue. Looking at the first arrival, he nodded.

“Thanks, got it surplus. And did some work on it, more of a racer and personal transport.”
Still had the cannons, but Jared removed most of the excess weapons from it.

“Welcome all.”
Jared nodded to each in turn.

“Got some reports that came through, some Sith war beasts on this world. Figure if they’re hunting us, we hunt them first. Maybe use their hides to help some of the trainees. And make another world safe for the Jedi. Ships should be safe here.”

He nodded to the nearby necropolis.

“But that place, not so much.”

Tigris studied the new arrival, his ball droid in tow. The man was another Jedi she didn't know, but knew of... Master Thio. It really was starting to look like a true Jedi Hunt.

Dark eyes fixed on Jared. He spoke so casually, as if they were going to clear out a pack of womprats. The only one of the three she had seen actually fight was Connel. But Starchaser and Thio had reputations, confirmed in the tales she had heard. The quartet was surely capable of meeting the remnant of Sith beasts hiding in the place of the dead.

Jared commented that it would not be safe. Tigris smirked. She hoped not.

As a new knight, Tigris deferred to the Masters. Tigris was also new to the Underground, and Starchaser and Thio didn't know her. But Connel knew something of her. "He knows what I can do..." nodding towards Connel..." I'm not here to make a name, I'll follow your lead." The Atrisian declared.

What was she there to do? Tigris wasn't sure herself, whether to form connections, or to vent buried pain and anger.

Feng was nervous. She was annoyed at being nervous, she realised everytime she went on a mission she had some sort of emotional vulnerability, whether it was her fury, her passion, her anxieties or her nerve. There always seemed to be something that caused her to clench her fists, to try and stop the tremors.

This time the cause of her nerves wasn't the suffering of others, or even the rage of injustice against her foes. The sith monsters they hunted, were just beasts, often twisted by sith alchemy, but beasts nonetheless. They needed to be stopped, so they were here to stop them. It was a good mission, a righteous mission.

No, Feng was nervous because of the company she was a part of. These were fearsome Jedi, most of them masters of some sort or another, or special forces of Jedi, or tattooed warriors.. Feng was just a sweet and innocent padawan. She felt like she needed a note from her Master to be here.

Feng glanced shyly at the other Jedi, as there instructions were delivered. She raised a hand tentatively.

"Uhm What sort of Sith monsters are we hunting exactly?"

It felt impudent to ask, but she couldn't help but feel the more information they had on their targets, the more informed and therefore better prepared they would be.

Jared smiled as the others were around, including the swoop jockey. He really needed to start building a team and not relying on himself for every small step. “I’m sure you can carry your weight.” He nodded. If someone was going to make the trip out here, he assumed they knew what they were getting into.

Well, at least most of them.

“Just here to make some pelts and skins, got a contact out on the Rim that can make them into some fine leather armors. Should resist lightsabers if we get the right beasts, probably give someone a false Force aura on others.”

As for what beasts?

“You know, sithspawns, Terentateks. They tend to be a bit of a menace. Of course we’re likely to find a rogue voxyn somewhere.” The latter was a Vong, and Jared wasn’t entirely keen on them.

“Using the Force will attract them, so if we can get a jump on them… Can get them down before they get a taste.”

Hunting…

Blech…

Connel had thought that they were here to clear out an infestation, like they were threatening a village, or something along those lines. This though? No. This is not a slight on anyone who was here for this, like Jared, or wanted to, but this was not Connel’s cup of tea. Simply to kill for sport…

Heh… unless it’s Sith…

Only kidding… relax…

I’ll keep us clear of anything unexpected. He recognized Tigris, as well as Fen and pointed to each. Tigris first. She’ll be more than fine, and this scrappy little thing is tougher than she thinks.

Another figure joined the hunters. Unlike the three veterans standing with Tigris, this one was a younger woman, a padawan. Tigris was only recently knighted, and remembered well the desire to prove herself. She would not assume to know anything about the jedi learner, but to show up to hunt Sithspawn certainly smacked of a desire to demonstrate what one could do.

The girl was timid, not unlike Eve had once been. About at the same age too. Tigris' features softened, nodding in greeting to the padawan. The learner asked a question, a good question about which Tigris had wondered. Jared revealed his intent, and the nature of the beasts they might encounter. She had to admit the idea of armor made from the hunted beasts had an appeal.

As for the prey, she knew something, at least in a cursory way. Terentateks were partial to the blood of those sensitive in the Force. The voxyn, well, they too liked to hunt Force-users, though she didn't think they were Sith created. Funny how Starchaser chose to hunt quarry that usually hunted prey like the group gathered. Who would really be the prey? Tigris realized how much of a challenge lay ahead of them. The Atrisian shadow was up for it, but also felt an urge to protect the padawan. Old habits were hard to break.

Finally, Connel vouched for Tigris, and also for the padawan. He called her "scrappy". Well, if he gave her the thumbs up, she must have been alright.
