• Unit Name: 55th “Cyclone” Regiment
• Affiliation: Galactic Alliance Defense Force

• Description: Headed by Col. Vulpesen Torrevaso, Cyclone Regiment is a light infantry unit which emphasizes mobility and quick reactions in combat. Often deployed with armor units such as the 34th Walker Battalion, the men of Cyclone Regiment are expected to clear out any tight areas that such heavy weaponry might be unable or not allowed to destroy. Otherwise their focus is to support other units in their advance, providing a much needed boost in strength wherever they can turn the tide of battle.

• Combat Function: Cyclone Regiment’s battle doctrine largely focuses on exploiting enemy weaknesses. Oftentimes standing back for more heavily armed units to deal the real damage, Cyclone regiment stands prepared to split apart and attack any holes in the enemy line, enacting savage flanking maneuvers or quick ambushes while doing their best to avoid pitched battles head on. Cyclone regiment is primarily an urban unit, and while capable of fighting in the wilds and open areas, they prefer to fight in crowded areas where their mobility lets them slip through the buildings and dense areas with ease.

HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Stood up by Col. Vulpesen Torrevaso, the men of Cyclone regiment are a hodgepodge of races from around the galaxy with a significant portion of their numbers being Zorren and other fast moving races. Those recruited into the unit are chosen for their speed and reaction time under fire as they are expected to move through urban terrain faster than most vehicles.

Having beaten back the Dark Empire at the battle of Coruscant, Cyclone has started a minor tradition of deploying around then Hellstompers, using their armor’s heavy weaponry and walking fortifications to soften up the enemy before sallying out to exploit the holes blown in the enemy formation.

After the exit of Gress and his Hellstompers from the GADF, Cyclone now acts as a quick reaction force, moving quickly to fill or exploit gaps on the front lines. Throughout their creation, they continue to focus on lightning fast movement.

Cyclone is currently headed by Col. Vulpesen Torrevaso who further supports his unit’s actions with his personal usage of the force and his personal guard, Trident Company. Due to their commander’s propensity for calling down storms in battle, Cyclone has taken to painting their armor in black, blue, and gold to signify the clouds and lightning that appear when they come into battle.
