Dominion Ye Who Enter Here | GA Dominion of Netherworld Hex south-east of Hypergate Velusia

It had finally happened. Everything that she had been trained to prevent ended up happening anyway. Viers stood behind the group as they chatted about the gates; she knew about the rifts and how they functioned, she understood what was on the other side, but that was sacred information.

The girl kept her lips sealed as she listened to what was being said while her nose was deep in the handwritten notes her mentor had left her. Everything was in her letters, how to deal and what would be encountered. Viers was mad, but she knew there wasn't much she could do beyond try and fix this anomaly.

A black hood covered her short-cut hair and skull-painted face. She had finally begun to don the face of the sinner during her journey to atonement. Viers didn't mind it, most hadn't seen her face, and it kept her guilt at bay.

The book lowered, and she watched as the gate was activated by one of the troopers; she raised an eyebrow and scribbled a few notes in the margin of her mentor's journal. It found its way into her cloak, and she drew down her black hood revealing herself. As much as she wanted to share the information, it seemed the Knight leading them already knew enough to keep them safe. Viers stepped closer behind a girl with snow-white hair, and she felt a sudden stinging sensation flow through her body.

The branded runes along her forearms and back burned as the embedded crystals felt as if they were vibrating. It hurt, but it was exciting. Not many of the Order's disciples or masters ever went through the gates to the Netherworld, and it would be Viers' second time. Seeing the girl next to her, she smirked, "It's going to be fine." She calmly did her best to reassure the Echani before jumping in with the rest.

Viers felt her stomach twist as whatever pulled them through the rift tied a rope around her waist and dragged. It was an experience that she would never get used to, but the closer they got to the other side, the branding runes on her body glowed a faint blue and protected her from the adverse effects of the Netherworld. Landing, Viers groaned. Her skin felt on fire, and while she thought it would subside, it only got worse. At least the blue hue dissipated from her flesh.

There wasn't a moment to see if anyone had been dismembered because someone or something had greeted them. Instinctively, Viers drew the quarterstaff from her back. With a spin, the weapon tucked under her arm and against her body. The other's didn't seem ready to attack, so Viers held back - but her eyes narrowed, uncomfortable with the being's existence.

Amber eyes glanced towards Henna, waiting for the Knight's instruction. She was here under the woman's instruction - there was no reason to disobey her yet. Viers looked for the Echani and spoke quietly -
"I don't trust this, do you?"

The situation was moving swiftly with several members organising themselves into a group and heading through the gate. Kat was one of the last to go through, her eyes lit up at the gate and just studying the gate, sensing the technology and movements of it within, there was a glee in her eye. At some point she would have to attempt deconstructing a gate like this and just admire the work within and see if she had the skills to rebuild it. Probably not, the thing looked far beyond her skills but no challenge would stop her from attempting something like this. As she stepped closer to the entrance of the gate, a young woman popped up beside her, the aura around her seemed familiar at first but the robes and face paint. Those were odd choices for someone to wear, robes were more standard Jedi like attire though she rarely saw Jedi wearing robes nowadays. The face paint was certainly a... choice.... yeah, a choice.

"Well, hopefully it will be a friendly welcome on the other side. Whoever built this wanted us to meet them it would seem." Kat thought out loud as the stranger reassured her. They practically leaped into the gate, Kat smiled it seemed a lot of youthful energy in the friendly stranger as she leaped into the portal. Kat stepped through, the sensation was super particular and it was as if she was swimming through some sort of thick liquid as she came out the other side, she felt slightly disoriented as she gaze upon the new surroundings and the different flow of the Force as it moved through her. With her recent extended reading, Kat had a rough idea of where she could now be but wasn't sure, presumably this was the Netherworld. A realm of dead people and some place deeply connected to the Force.

Looking around, she marvelled at the surroundings and was making mental notes of what it was like here having never been to a place like this before. It wasn't long till her focus was snapped to the being in front of them, she couldn't tell too much about them but the connection to the Force and technology was interwoven and Kat knew she could use a couple of tricks if things went south, however she was curious how something like this being was made or survived in the Nether. She just assumed it would be filled with ghosts wandering around but this seemed like a totally different situation to what she had imagined and it was amazing. The face painted stranger leaned over to Kat, mentioning a lack of trust in this being. In a low whisper, "well given that it is stopping us from moving forward and mention of some sort of creator in the Nether. I am not thinking this is gunna be super friendly. However, best to hold off till we can learn more information. That way we get a better understanding for the situation here. Clearly the Nether is different to what we could have predicted from previous encounters." Kat stated, her mind whirling at who would meld flesh and organic in this manner. Her own legs were robotic but she never thought of extending the mix beyond that. Her hand never reached for her weapons yet, she didn't want to provoke an attack before they could gleam everything they could from this strange being.

Standing close to the face painted woman, she noted that her movements and stances were a little familiar, but she couldn't quite place where at the moment. Instead, she offered her a reassuring smile, "I'm Kat by the way."

"Hold."

Atlas held up a hand as if sensing the others' mixed emotions. Everything about this place seemed unsettling from the strange awareness which had 'scanned' his consciousness upon arrival to its native denizen but the Alliance had strict rules about executing ambassadors and if he was being honest so did Captain Drake. He took a cautious step forward. His portable scanner beeped with all kinds of anomalous readings but he kept his gaze fixed on the Golem.

"Greetings ambassador," he called out to the strange creature, "My name is Atlas Drake. I am a representative of the Galactic Alliance. If this is your...home then you must have some knowledge of how we arrived here. There is a connection between our 'realm' and this one. We seek answers. Understanding."

Everywhere he could see was desolate nothing. Atlas couldn't guess at where this so called ambassador came from. He did not let it distract from his mission. Conditions on the other side of the hypergate were less than ideal but survivable. Their passage had no discernible effect on its stability. Next task was to unload and activate their communications equipment. He kept both arms raised at the Golem in a show of peace.

"You said we're not allowed to pass 'yet.' Are there conditions we must meet or an appointed time for us to depart?"

Captain Drake gestured back at the packaged comm relay.

"Will you allow us to make contact with our people on the other side?"

More Senators continued to file into the committee room, and with all seats taken, they found room standing in the gaps between seats or climbing onto the room of advisers seats which ringed the room so they could see the holoprojects. Live feeds from Byss, Velusia and the HNN documents the scenes at both hypergates and the increasing civil unrest on Byss in response to the news of the strange artefact's appearance.

The Senator for Corellia enquired as to why Tithe did not know more about the situation. “Yes, I suppose I could regale you with my contemplations and conjectures,” he replied to Kiyoshi. “But it may be prudent to await a briefing from the defence and intelligence apparatus, neither of which I am a member of.” The Vice Chancellor looked around the room at the assembled representatives of the Alliance worlds. “If your respective services have information to share, I implore you to table it in the spirit of cooperation.”

A hologram of Admiral Myneto, the commander of the occupation force, materialised in the committee room. Myneto laid out what little information had already been gathered, and requested that the Senator cordon off the area.

“A sage stratagem,” he replied to the Admiral. “Evacuate the immediate areas of non-essential personnel, no one in or, err, out.”

Tithe cast his holographic gaze around the room until his eyes landed on Faith. “Senator Organa, I fear that the Alliance’s humanitarian fleet is indentured to the Csillan crisis. Should Alderaan be willing to support the evacuation of Byss, the Alliance would find itself greatly indebted.”

If only Byss had been their only concern. “I understand Master San Tekka has been dispatched to the second hypergate on Velusia,” Tithe added, turning his attention back to Myneto. “How goes the efforts to ascertain the origin and purpose of the device?”

"Hold."

Vyk knew his soldiers, and his HUD told the tale true. They had come through after him and taken up positions on either side of Captain Atlas Drake Atlas Drake and Master Henna Ashina Henna Ashina with their weapons held in nearly the same position he held his. At the order from Captain Drake, every soldier stopped moving. Their eyes and the sensors in their armor continued to scan the area, but each weapon was pointed in a safe position and ready to be raised if need be. They formed a rough half-circle with the Captain and the Jedi at the leading edge and those still inbound stepping into the interior of the half-circle.

Vyk waited a heartbeat while he watched Captain Drake begin negotiations, then followed up the hold order.

'Ready ease, hard forward line on Captain Drake and Master Sarratt. Keep eyes and ears ready.' Keeping their weapons ready would go without saying. Even though they ostensibly had secure comms, they were in unknown territory and Vyk wouldn't take the chance. His soldiers instantly ceased the statue routine and stood more at ease. Their weapons remained at the ready, but their positions and movements weren't hostile as each took a look around at their surroundings while others turned to ensure their companions were making it through alright.

The U-Wing rumbled beneath her feet as the vessel broke atmosphere. With a grimace, she reached, and then stood up from her seat in the cockpit to flip an overhead switch that shifted the power from ion engines to planetary repulsors. Thalia's head snapped to Dane when she heard him snigger, a glare fixed on her teen face. The wrath of Thalia was paused when she heard Master San Tekka speak from the passenger seat.

Yes. Velusia was a beautiful planet, save for the strange portal that looked like an open sore in the Force. It made her extremely uncomfortable, more so even than the calm waters of Velusia did.

"Aye, it is, Master," she said in agreement, punching Dane in the shoulder. He smirked before fixing his helmet back onto his head and patching into the Velusian starport's com network.

"Mount Hollow starport, this is Alliance U-Wing designation G-CR4D13, requesting permission to dock."

"Granted Alliance U-Wing," came the obviously synthetic voice of some starport management droid, "Please enjoy your stay at
Mount Hollow." Thalia flipped the U-Wing's S-foils in with a toggle, this time doing so from the comfort of her own seat, and brought them all in for a landing.

A Jedi Master didn't need an escort. Such an idea was laughable, yet here they were flanked by Dane and another marine as they were ushered beneath the waves to the Alliance's observation base on the water world. Master San Tekka had told her that it was just military protocol and that despite being Jedi they still had to follow it. She still thought it was stupid. Mostly because right at this moment she was still peeved at Dane for laughing at her height. It wasn't her fault she was so short at nearly sixteen. She drank all the milk put in front of her and ate like a ceirean packing on the pounds for winter.

"Chimera's breath," she gasped when the portal finally came into view. The portal was massive.

"By the Red Seas of Knores," Dane muttered in agreement. "Are they really going in that? It is unnatural, this cursed thing. I feel it in the bones of my ancestors. I'd sooner I just blow it up."

"Don't be a wuss," Thalia teased. Dane was still wearing his helmet but she could feel the glare behind the visor.

"This thing. It is not right. It should be destroyed." Thalia shrugged.

"Well, when you become High General of the Alliance you can do whatever you want. Until then," she jabbed a thumb at Master San Tekka, who was already starting his meeting with the Senate and Admiral Myneto.

if they're watching anyways

Auteme sat in stunned silence for a strenuous few seconds.

"Because," she said, "The Galactic Alliance has found two hypergates, and the expedition headed into one of them has just started."

She pulled up another device and began to tap away. "I should probably get in touch with my people, but- thank you. I'll contact you if I get more information. And... I hope you'll contact me as well, if you discover anything important."

"Aye" He responded to the Jedi. "Be sure to maintain communications at all costs. The same number of people go in- the same come out"

He turned back to Tithe's hologram. "Yes, Sir" He paused, before relaying the orders to the bridge crew, and his subordinate flag officers. His voice was stern and commanding, and with a nod the Second in Command replied "Rear Admiral Orix has been deployed to Velusia. He will oversee the blockade there"

With that the Admiral's attention turned back to the Senate. A faint frown tugged at the corners of his lips, as he listened carefully to the words Senator Kiyoshi- his Senator, spoke. The masked figure was an unknown to Myneto, an unknown he didn't vote for- but then again, he hadn't voted in years. "Senator, I find it highly improbable that the Brotherhood of the Maw posses this type of technology, nor do I believe Marlon Sularen is capable of such a feat"

"I'll inform you immediately once word of General Satou reaches me" He assured the Senator. Zahara fidgeted once more in his seat, beads of sweat dripping down his loose strands of hair. Did he need to worry on where the Hypergates led? Time would tell.

Anomalies: Detected. Location: Grid Sector 3 - Lesh. Programming Dictates: Immediate Response.

The Manifold's burning eyes snapped open as the will of Omni awakened them from slumber. A thousand souls raced through the cybernetic circuits of their mind, their ectoplasmic energy activating logic boards and warming up processors. A putrid heart, reeking of formaldehyde, began to pump blood and machine oil alike. Fingers of durasteel-coated bone flexed, clanging and scraping against one another. Finally the full, multifaceted consciousness of The Manifold returned to complete awareness, receiving input from across the Droid God's domain. It was time once again to serve, for there was work to be done in the never-ending pursuit of the Grand Design.

How long had The Manifold slept? They did not know. Time had little meaning in Oblivion; the clocks and calendars of mortals were irrelevant to the fourth-dimensional beings who inhabited the Plane Beyond. The Manifold did notice that there were new souls among their number, dead minds that the others did not recognize, and that others they had expected to find amidst their consciousness were now gone. Such was the ever-shifting nature of the Netherworld; in time, spirits drifted away, returning to the fabric of the universe. Then the freshly dead replaced them, a chaotic bounty of new minds. That was why Omni's Great Work was so important. The Droid God would make stable the chaotic and make lasting the impermanent.

Or so The Manifold's programming led them to believe. Who could truly fathom the Machine Spirit's desires?

Rising from where they lay in their pneumatic sarcophagus, The Manifold pushed aside the stone-steel lid and found their feet. The stasis tomb was cold and utterly dark; there was no purpose in wasting energy to create light or comfort while the drone was inactive, dead but dreaming. But as they rose, ghostly soul lights filled bowls carved from black stone, and conduits embedded in the translucent crystal floor began to pulse with ectoplasmic energy. The Manifold took their first steps out of the container where they had slept for an age, the clank-slap of bare half-organic feet loud in the utter stillness and silence of the vault. But the drone hardly noticed the auditory input.

Their consciousness was already far away, observing the intrusion that had prompted their reactivation.

The hypergate where the errors had been detected was physically far across Oblivion, but to a servant of Omni, distance was no barrier within the Great Builder's domain. One arm clanked up at a perfect ninety-degree angle, palm outstretched... and then the fingers clenched into a fist. The Manifold's burning, staring eyes flickered, and then they were hurtling forward as they folded space, traveling through the Living Force to traverse the Netherworld in the blink of an eye. The drone, still awakening to their full charge and ill-practiced at controlling such vast energy, staggered slightly as they arrived in the desert of Sector 3-Lesh. Internal servos spun as they adjusted their position.

Then they rose from the ground, the tips of their toes brushing the sand as they glided eerily, jerkily forward.

The Manifold could see that they were not the first of their master's creations to arrive at the site of the anomaly. They recognized The Golem, another of Omni's drones - one created much differently, out of once-mortal beings. The Golem was conversing with the little band of errors that had come through the gate, inquiring as to their purpose. It was blessed with the gifts of communication and flexible judgement... qualities that The Manifold largely lacked. Their strength was in their rigidity; they permitted no threat to the Droid God's design, and they would return again and again to ensure that no lasting disruption would interrupt the Great Work, returning even from death and destruction.

The little errors had weapons. Some even had the requisite sensors to detect the flow of the Force. It would not save them.

One of the mortals stepped forward, speaking flowery words. It was strange to detect such auditory input once more, and to attempt to parse the reason and emotion behind each syllable hacked up from the creature's masticatory appendages. After a moment's processing time, The Manifold understood... and disapproved. Perhaps they should wait for The Golem to speak, fulfilling its intended function as ambassador at this gateway, but their programming was simple - and contrary to all intrusion. "Further Passage: Denied," The Manifold flatly stated. Their cracked, corpselike lips did not move; instead, the sound boomed out of the nest of cables spilling from the back of their head.

"Glitches: Not Permitted. To Pass: Become Rewritten. Serving Omni: Inevitable. Imperative: Submit."

Just like that plans change. She would still meet the Commander at the ship but it would be to call in the medical personnel and ships from Alderaan to help evacuate Byss. This was not a time to say no, she would speak with her family as they traveled.

Faith nodded,
"Of course we will." To do anything less was unconscionable. There was no further reason to stay other than updates that could be forwarded easily to her.

She rose up gave a slight nod and walked out.

There was one call to be made and she would make it herself as she walked to tried the communications,
"Marina I have need of you and the medical ships from Alderaan, we're headed to Byss to evacuate as many as we can." Faith didn't know if Marina had been watching the events.

As she rode to the ship to meet Ike Gale she thought about her family for the moment they were safe, Draco would make sure. He would admonish her for not coming home but Alderaan's mission in the Galaxy was to help others. Helping others gave the Alderaani purpose allowing them not to think on their own problems but of those who had infinitely less.

She really needed to think about retiring from all of this and let the kids take over, she could stay home on Alderaan after all this, she laughed. Maybe send Theo and Marina let them battle through and learn the hard way the ins and outs of the political avenues that influenced their home, and friends. Yes...that sounded like a good idea....she just had to let go long enough to let it happen.

Could she? Or was her control freak side going to at the last minute balk and run. She laughed as they pulled into the space port.

She made her way to the ship, it was grand wasn't it, the ship. Yes. Draco's gift to her had served a great purpose she loved it.

"Commander Gale" she called out as she entered the ship, "We have to rendezvous with the Alderaan medical fleet. Perhaps you heard, we are going to Byss." She smiled not what she had expected she had wanted to go home, "Have you called your family?"

Seto Du Couteau, Senator of Empress Teta

Hours prior Seto had been wondering what else could this galaxy throw at him, from endless amounts of paperwork to constant headaches of political strife. Rumors of a netherworld existence had been substantiated months ago and Seto for his own part took interest in affirming such claims. Of course, all things through the Force, the time and credit spent on discovering more information on the matter were slowly diverted towards more present needs. The situation with Byss and the destruction of Csilla being the key issues, Seto had all but struggled to keep Empress Teta from returning back to imperialist leanings.
Refugees from the Imperial civil wars, from the Bryn’adul plague of monsters that ravaged planet after planet, so many innocents attempting to find peace once again. Seto was enthusiastic with how quickly refugees were being processed on Empress Teta. Plus with the Royal Merchant Fleet of Teta expanding the young Du Couteau heir knew that things would move along quite nicely. So with even the distress levels of other Senators rising, Seto continued to work on his data-slate as the holograms voiced their concerns and plans of action.
How quickly we seek military responses, but then again with our present reality it’s not entirely unusual. Seto wanted to sigh, but he knew he was being recorded and felt that he needed to maintain a much more cavalier appearance for the moment.
“Given the proximity of these anomalies, Empress Teta will provide safe harbor for the Evacuees. Our mercantile fleets can handle much of the transportation.” Seto voiced his assistance. With the expanding of the administrative offices of their immirgation department, these new safe asylum requests would be processed at a much faster pace.

Ike was seated comfortably in the pilot seat of the Alderaanian shuttle when the queen returned. He turned to face her and gave a less than gracious bow of the head, more a nod, acknowledging her presence.

"I didn't hear," he said, his voice thick with apprehension. "But I could have guessed, aye." The ship was in the air quickly as she continued to speak. "I did. Arya is well. People throughout the sector are panicking. I may have to part ways with you at the medical fleet however." Coruscant quickly became a distant golden jewel in the stars as they passed through atmosphere and sped past Coruscant and Alliance Defense Force vessels who had begun to take defensive positions around the planet.

"I've received a troubling transmission from Spilursia. The Blood of Arion seem to be on the move again. Appears that even down below the waves news has reached them and they look to be gathering strength for an assault to take advantage of the chaos. Lady Rist and her family are there but trapped. The Spilursian Rangers have stopped all traffic in and out of the system."

He turned to face her as the stars turned to starlines and they made the jump to hyperspace.

"It has been a time since I've seen the ocean. I'm feeling a tad bit airsick. I'll only take a small group, but we should be in and out quickly enough. Damn scales owe us enough."

The Atrisian teen sipped on a cup of tea as he watched and listened to the various statements from the senators trickle through the open holo-communications net.

After the turmoil on Byss, the prince had taken advantage of a scheduled public appearance on Frisal to take the Asuka II on a planned survey of the lost Ezo sector. Instead, the ship had departed Frisal and almost immediately changed course toward Coruscant when news of the emergency session of the committees had reached him.

Faith Organa Faith Organa had extended resources from Alderaan to provide evacuation to the planet Byss. Of all the places for one of these... things to have appeared. Byss seemed to be a hub for a variety of things. Few with positive connotations.

Glancing over at his protocol droid, the teen remarked, "Send a diplomatic cable to Alderaan. Atrisia will provide vessels to support and provide escort."

They would have to cancel another scientific expedition, but the present crisis seemed a little more important than how many particles of space dust per cubic meter were in quadrant something-something-delta-number...

"And forward a copy of this Senate meeting to Jar'Kai," the youth added solemnly. Junko Ike Junko Ike would hopefully be making her way back to the Atrisia System. With the... portals appearing, and civil unrest already cropping up in spots -- particularly with the fear still resonating in the wake of Csilla -- the self-defense forces would need to be on high alert.

And, potentially, self-sufficient, at least for the time being. While the GADF dealt with larger and more systemic problems.

Shoma was far from being the brightest or the best student of the Jedi, but he couldn't shake the impression that there was something unseen lurking in the shadows. Something, he just couldn't place his finger on.

She was talking and he was reacting getting them off the ground and on their way. She nodded in return there would be no real formalities here he was around her enough to know that she was not one for the formalities. There were places for it, but not now.

She was glad to hear the family was. "
We need to get home, I need to get home." There was this deep longing within her that pulled her there whenever she left there. When there was trouble it pulled harder.

House Rist....wasn't there a story about House Rist assisting House Organa when her mother's family escaped? It was odd if she remembered right no one trusted them....history spoke loudly on Alderaan. Either way, "
By all means yes Lady Rist and her family if they are in danger we need to react."

Faith looked down she had not yet heard from Marina, "
I haven't heard from Marina, I may have to take the fleet on my own...or...task someone else...to go....someone." Faith sat back, "Commander do you think I'd be remiss in my duties if I sent my Aunt Rianna instead of going myself. She has some experience and skill with such things." But would Tia go.

Not that she wanted to abandon her duty, all she did was agree to send the medical fleet to evacuate Byss, not that she would lead it.
"If I send Tia then I can go to Alderaan and see to things there. Your thoughts?"

She trusted his thoughts, as much as she trusted him to protect her life.

A low rumble emanated from the old Knight as he folded his arms in thought. Rianna could go. She had been a Jedi not unlike himself, though she was a healer and diplomat. But he had thought she was out in the Galaxy helping people and remote, not a simple com away. If she was it could be good to have someone as experienced as her out on the field.

But if this was a weapon of the Maw....

"Aye, your Cousin would be good...But perhaps I can prod my mother-in-law to enact a family emergency. At least then you could call on my daughter Andien. The fleet is well equipped to bring aid but Alderaanian space has been at peace for years now. They'll need someone a little less green if things get a little...dodgy."
