I think some clear rules on what they can and can't join will never hurt.

But I'd love to see them pop into things a lot more, within reason.

I also don't think it needs a huge amount of rules though. The toggle allows people to self-regulate. If Bounty hunters pop in with fun RP and interesting angles, it's a win for everybody.

If every thread were to get flooded or if it goes somewhere that people aren't having fun, those toggles are just going to change or more RP gets moved to thread types they can't join.

the argument i'm hinting at and why im helping push this, is, I think the bounty hunters need these rules more than the targets do.

I think the culture has people scared what they can and can't do so adding some beauracracy to empower them will actually save the scene rather than hurt it. I think bounty hunting, on a fun level, is pretty @#$%ing dead because people like that PSA consent guy help add (intentionally or not) to the fear of what people can or can't do, and as a result, you have less bold roleplayers.

Less bold roleplayers = less good rp.

like yeah some people ruin it because HARASSMENT but I think those people get kicked and are pretty obvious.

But thats the bounty hunters life right, your entire field of roleplay is destroyed because of a few bad apples and the majority discussion is about the definition of consent? The majority's discussion is about not pissing off people because one guy 5 years ago? Or imaginary boogey men? Or one dude who is super obsessed with his RP not going off the beaten path? What bounty hunter roleplayer wants to deal with that lol.

They 100% need our help.

Yesterday I almost posted to several different dominions with this character to try to bounty hunt but thought better of it for this exact reason.

If this rule is written, the day it goes up I will be posting to stalk some bounties

well thank whoever linked me this shit because my first character was a BHer like 20 years ago (ouch) and I actually care about BH rp alot so we're already at work helping making this scene more interesting on a level we've never tried before

good to know people out there wanna do it, it encourages the work

always advance.

Solid point who should we talk to about doing this

I'm writing a letter, it will arrive by snail mail in a few days.

So...Is there a way we could just add something that lets us mark threads as "BH-Friendly"? Exactly like the toggle? This way, we wouldn't need a whole lot of extra rules, but just something that can instantly be seen. Maybe a little blurb on what it means and call it?

I feel it's reasonable to point out that Factions and Faction Staff bear a measure of responsibility in this. The option to reach out to a hypothetical bounty hunter and work out some kind of mutually beneficial agreement is always there.

If a story is so important that absolutely no one should be allowed to mess with it, then there are options to facilitate this. Private and Faction threads are explicitly invite-only, whereas dominions are currently not / ambiguous on this.

How are Factions to know that a Bounty Hunter is interested at all without the BH reaching out? To the second statement...Literally this:

Other Major or Minor Factions may not interfere with a Dominion thread. They may participate as In-Character aid or opposition with the approval of the Faction Admins/Owner of the Major Faction undertaking the Dominion.

Should Factions no longer be afforded the ability to tell a story with Dominions without the expectation that someone might swing in and derail it? Not to mention that an OP controls who writes in their thread. Rather than take the chance at getting ejected from it and create a bad atmosphere...Just ask? It solves every ill.

It also seems incredibly counterintuitive to allow Bounty Hunters the opportunity to invade Dominions but not other Factions. If other Factions have to ask...Why not BH?

Appreciate that. Though, loophole lol: Mentions other factions, not single entities.

Yeppers...That's why I said one way or the other haha - Just need a conclusive standpoint so people actually can RP.
