Question Would you pay a low monthly subscription fee if Chaos provided an image hosting alternative?

We’re talking no more than 5/month, probably more like 3 USD.

I think it's a fine option, though not necessarily something I'd use right now. There are still other free options. No telling how long those will last, of course, and image hosting here would be a good solution. I am assuming cancelling the subscription would allow you to still be able to use posted images, just not post any more. (Would suck if the links broke for non-payment lol)

A lot of other folks have echoed this sentiment, but I think the days of free image hosting are numbered. I don't know when exactly but the big platforms (Imgur, etc.) are probably gonna blow up eventually. I support this as a plan for when that occurs. And it might help to get that infrastructure in place now so we have it ready.

far out, man
Not that I’m against it, but I’m not tech savvy enough to understand the benefit vs just using imgur or something. Would it make it easier? Stay on the site forever?

yeah so long as Chaos exists your images would be fine.

It'd simplify your hobby, basically, if I hosted your images. The pain of you finding services to host your images would be over, Chaos would just be a one stop shop.

I wouldn't mind at all considering how often image hosting services go belly up or crash out randomly.

Imgur will randomly decide "screw you in particular" and suddenly block whole portfolios of images due to "copyright" when we use SW logos and such. Elias Edo Elias Edo had this happen to him recently iirc. Ingrid L'lerim Ingrid L'lerim also lost a lot of images in a similar fashion. Just a couple random examples.

The remaining services often get overloaded and suddenly don't work for a few days here and there. Or the interface is awful. looks at imgbb who was once great but now...sus
